Dear Mr. Hess,

while I am not yet able to conclude if you deserved the detention given by Ms. Alptraum, that is secondary to the fact that while intended to be a punishment, detention should never serve as a humiliation as you have described to me. In this school, detentions are also not performed at wand point or under pain of bodily harm. I expected Ms. Alptraum, who has been serving as a Gryffindor Prefect since last year and so far performed her job well, to be fully aware of that. It seems I might have been mistaken.

These are harsh accusations for you to bring forward against one of our Prefects, however, and I will, as you have correctly deducted, require proof that this detention did in fact take place. The use of truth serum, however, is only employed against criminals or such persons that are assumed to be such. It is not to be used on students and if one of your classmates told you otherwise you may refer them to me.

Furthermore, I am interested in understanding the situation in the Hospital Wing you have mentioned, as I was not made aware that such an incident had taken place there in February.
