The last compartment
Lilith had came alone, as always, every day since her father left and her disabled grandmother took his place. There was nothing lonely about it though; to her, solitude is her way of living. After all, she had so much more companions that way. She could talk and talk to the stars and the moon, and they would listen carefully until she got tired and fell asleep right on the roof.
But those days are over; she got her letter, she got her things, and now Lilith is walking to the King’s Cross Station dragging a trunk, and nobody saw her as she ran through the wall that was the entrance to Platform 9 3/4. She kept her head down as she pushed her things onto the train and found a compartment all by herself.
It wasn’t lonely. But for her, it was scary. Although she was brought up in a wizard family, she had went to her grandmother’s house when her father left, and her grandmother lives in Muggle London, even though she is a witch. An old one, though; she rarely uses magic and she barely has energy to cook Lilith’s meals. She had never been in contact with people like her before. Yet as she sat on this train, set for the school her father once went to called Hogwarts, she was surrounded by them. Still, she was by herself inside the compartment. Lilith heard chatter outside but could not even guess what it is about; she felt panicky and her mind is so clouded up she couldn’t even think. It was so silent inside her compartment, it was loud; and it is as loud as it is silent. The more lonely it felt inside the small compartment, the more crowded the outside was to her, it seemed; until she was suffocating from fear and thought—the first logical thought she’d even had since getting that letter—that she wasn’t going to let fear get the best of her, especially since she couldn’t even see why she was scared. Strange, but that calmed her down.
Lilith waited. Now, that was all she could do; she hoped she won’t get in any trouble, on the train or at the school.

Theseus had hesitantly entered the Hogwarts Express. Sure, his father had done his best to tell him what to expect. Though it did not make Theseus any more thrilled about the prospect of having to be around a group of people and consider possibly befriending them. It wasn't that Theseus did not like the prospect of friends. It was more a matter of it took time for him to warm up and trust an individual.
Therefore, as he quietly roamed along the hall. Glancing at the various compartments. He was considering which one held the most potential for an individual who if not a possible friend would at least be able to empathize with his sentiment. Which was tricky as many seemed to already be drawing into mini social circles. Though finally a single apartment caught his eyes. He paused and contemplated the proper course of action.
Part of him just considered slipping into the apartment and taking a seat. Not making a big deal about it. Hoping the girl inside did not take offense to such an intrusion. The other part knew his father would be disappointed by the lack of mannerisms displayed.
A decision was finally made. The pause and contemplation while thorough. Was a lot quicker to the perceivable world than what it would of seemed like in his mind. Theseus while calculative was also quick witted and so his calculations went quite fast. He reached out and gently tapped on the door before sliding it open gently. "Um.. May I please join you?" Was the first and only words which he spoke to the girl inside. While his sea green hues glanced to the floor.

Lindsey got out of the compartment she was sitting. “See you at Hogwarts Lizzie!” She called merrily to her new friend, Lizzie Callaghan. She decided to go somewhere else after meeting Lizzie——Lindsey would like to meet more people, and so was Lizzie. As a result, they separated friendly and happily.
Most of the compartments were full by now. Lindsey saw plenty of girls and boys sitting in them, chatting freely. It was quite impossible for her to get in now, as there’s hardly any sits left.
As thinking, Lindsey suddenly realized that she had already reached the back of the train. There’s only one compartment left.
That’s definitely not attractive to the young girl. Only one left? Ha, she had no choices let now. Whether the original residences here were pleasant to stay with or not, she had to knock, and took a seat.
She looked inside through the glasses.
Only a golden-brown haired girl——accidentally the hair color of Lindsey——was sitting in it.
Would it seem rude to enter now? Maybe.
She hesitated, and turned round.
While she was thinking whether she’ll knock, a boy gently tapped on the door of this compartment.
“Um.. May I please join you?” He said as he slided the door open.
This boy seemed really nice. Lindsey thought. She would love to meet him and the girl inside.
“Hey, sorry but could I join too?” Lindsey smiled after the boy, and asked the young girl. “Are you both first years?” She added.

Lilith kept blinking at the sight of two more people joining her. She did her best to press down the --what?fear?excitement?apprehension?--in order to not lose control again. She gulped and studied the two newcomers: a boy and a girl, both about her age. The girl had hair that was--strangely--the same color as herself, and the boy had blonde hair and green eyes beneath that.
The boy was sliding open the door.
Lilith thought quickly. Her grandmother has said...she said...to...ah, make friends. She said that friends will be good for her.
Well, whatever that meant.
She bit her lip and nodded slightly, and said in a small voice, "Y-yes, I suppose...you can, um, join me..."
Then she addressed the girl "it's my first time here...I guess that does make me a first year..."
Her heart was beating wildly; the only times she had talked to other people were her occasional chats with her grandmother, or with herself, under the sky and the stars and of course, the moon. She had never talked to other people before, much less ones of her own age; that was what made her nervous. Although this was her first time, she calmed down a little after seeing that they are friendly, and her first two sentences had not came out so badly after all.

Theseus merely cast a glance back at the tag along. Not really showing much facial expressions when she expressed the following.
Despite the fact Theseus was a slight bit peeved. At the fact he had done his best to hunt down a place of solitude, and when he finally found an individual whom he felt might be able to respect that. A cheery social sort dropped into the mix. To give the benefit of the doubt. Theseus reminded himself he needed to try and be open minded and thoughtful. His attention cast back to the girl in the compartment already. Who voiced her acceptance of the requested entry for both the tag along girl and himself. Before she followed with the statement.
He then relaxed back in his seat. Then took a moment to glance out the window in silence. Simply admiring the last few glimpses of the station. While they had the time to do so.
Followed shortly by."Hey, sorry but could I join too?"

Theseus gave a soft nod as he settled down on a seat. After placing his luggage in the appropriate luggage compartment. Then glanced to the tag along girl as well. Having decided not to state his initial opinion on the inquiry. It was not originally his compartment to decide whom could and could not be present. "I'm just starting this year as well.""it's my first time here...I guess that does make me a first year..."

The girl who had the same hair color with Lindsey nodded slightly, and said in a small voice. “Y-yes, I suppose...you can, um, join me...”
She seemed a little shy. Lindsey thought. But really nice.
“It's my first time here...I guess that does make me a first year...” she said, still shyly.
The boy and her entered.
“I'm just starting this year as well.” The boy simply said, and then relaxed back in his seat.
He didn’t say much. Lindsey supposed that he’s a bit…maybe unhappy about her coming in? He might be that sort of people that would like to be with only one person. She sighed. She really, really wanted to make a good impression on her peers.
“Then, I’m in first year too.” she said.
What should she do now? She had no clue, accidentally.
Enliven the atmosphere, or just stay, and be quiet? These two guys weren’t very lively. She was…a bit confused.
Lindsey’s not that type of noisy girl. Nor quiet. People would say that she’s in the middle and nice.
She could be really nervous when talking to strangers, but this time, it was different. She felt that she didn’t need to talk much.
“Um…just introducing, I’m Lindsey.” she said, after a while.
Then, Lindsey grabbed a book from her backpack——she actually had one besides her suitcase——and started reading, whether it seemed rude or not, that’s the only thing she could do no besides talking——which, obviously, had failed.

The boy came in her compartment:
Lilith, having heard the girl—Lindsey—introduce herself, decided to take a try as well.
“I...I’m...”she stammered, and tried again, “I’m Lilith...”her voice trailed off so that only ‘I’m’ is heard.
She bit her lip, hugged herself a bit, and said louder, “I’m Lilith Arachne.”
Then she buried her face in her arms, her face burning, but for what reason, even she herself didn’t know. Having lived quite a while with her grandmother, who didn’t talk much, in a remote place in muggle London, —which is an isolated life basically, Lilith had 0 experience talking to people; yet this first attempt at introducing herself had gone, well, pretty badly. If it goes on like this, she thought, how am I going to get through a full year in a school full of people?
He then slid into a seat across from her and admired the scene outside, while the girl replied,I’m just starting this year as well.
After a pause, she introduced herself,Then, I’m in first year too.
Lilith shivered. The girl and the boy both seemed nice enough, but she could tell that the boy was...annoyed? or just unhappy? Nevertheless her lessons with her grandmother taught her how to read other people’s emotions, and she figured that the boy didn’t want the girl to come in, even though he didn’t make it, well, that obvious. She was a little scared as well; as stated before this was her first time in a...what did other people call it?...yes, a conversation. And she thought it wasn’t going as well...Um....just introducing, I’m Lindsey.

Theseus was drawn out of his moment of respite. In order to listen to what the tag along girl had to say. In this moment he also decided to take in both girl's appearances. Noting similarities though also some definable differences. Were they related? Distantly perhaps by the fact the two did not seem to know each other? Theseus was admittedly not the best at gauging other individuals. He wasn't incompetent in that regards. It just was by no means a strong suit. Though he did feel he noticed a shift of demeanor in the girl who entered the compartment with him.
None the less. The words. Which would escape the lips of the tag along girl. Was something he would keep note of.
He was about to respond out of politeness. When a single word from compartment girl broke the silence. The single word felt like it belonged to a slightly longer sentence. Which got lost for some reason. Which was only confirmed to Theseus. By the fact the girl repeated it followed by the additional context which amounted to.
Theseus was hopeful it would help Lindsey understand that any percieved irritation she guaged off of him. Was not a personal disdain towards her specifically. So, much had it been at the situation. That suddenly having to possibly interact with one person had unexpectedly became interacting in some degree with two people. He also hoped it helped Lilith understand that she was amoungst understanding individuals in regards to this whole trying to socialize predicament.
Theseus glanced to the book in Lindsey's hands. Tilting his head a little. While he tried to guage what she was deciding to invest her attention into. While he was careful not to stare at Lilith to avoid making her feel uncomfortable.

Yeah, there was unmistakably a change in the demeanor of the girl. Theseus wondered if he might of caused some unintended tension. In regards to the situation. He wasn't sure how exactly to feel about that. However, as it had been stated. It was unintentional. Theseus was pretty good at keeping his emotions in check. At least as good as you could expect from an eleven year old. He just wasn't expecting that when he was seeking someone who could sympathize with his.. social dispositions. He'd be finding himself admist empaths. He couldn't help but fidget somewhat nervously as if though suddenly he was walking barefoot on eggshells."Um…just introducing, I’m Lindsey."

Theseus nodded his head a little. When the girl retreated into hiding into herself. It was kind of cute how timid she was. It put Theseus a little bit at ease. Theseus once again had to wonder if that was necessarily a good thing. Finally, speaking up for himself. He decided he needed to, as much as he rather not. Try a different angle towards this whole socializing mess. "My name is Theseus Reneun.. Admittedly.. I struggle with erm.. People." Theseus expressed gently and rubbed the back of his neck. "It is nice to have made both of your acquaintances however." He added in a voice which was somehow softer.“I’m Lilith Arachne.”

Theseus…a nice name really. He seemed quite nice as well. She thought. Maybe…I’ve been thinking too much just now?
“Nice to meet you two.” she replied, smiling.
Lindsey focused on her book again. The only thing she could do, again.
However, she just tried to focus. Lindsey really wanted to get known deeper with her two companions. They were not like Lizzie, who’s lively and fun, and would definitely be a Gryffindor or Hufflepuff sort of girl. These two students seemed a lot more peaceful, and she felt that if she wanted to be friends with them, she had to be initiative. For, they seemed not like talking much.
Lindsey finally made up her mind, and raised up her head from her book.
“Which house do you think you’ll be sorted into please?” she asked politely.
This was the only topic she could think of. Sorting was something everyone was expecting, wasn’t it?
But…what about herself? What would be her answer of this question?
“Um…I might be in Hufflepuff or Gryffindor…but my parents are Ravenclaws so you know…that’s a difficult question.” she explained, in a low voice that could hardly to be heard. Still because of nervousness. “It’s quite struggling for me and I suppose I just have to be myself.” she muttered.
Have they heard it? She wondered in her heart. That’s a question.

She wondered what she should say now, since she doesn’t know what the houses are in the first place. Seeing there was an awkward silence—even though the girl was rambling on, it still seemed silent to her—she moistened her lips and said softly, “I don’t know.”
She wondered if she sounded stupid and fidgeted with a glass sphere she had brought along. As she traced the smooth material, the inside glowed with a silver light—her father’s work. And the only trace she had of him. She tried not to feel sad about it. The scary thing was, it wasn’t hard. So she went on thinking, looking out the window, waiting for the train to move.

She heard it wasn’t good. Her father reflected that.Nice to meet you two.
