Name Origin: “Elspeth” is the traditional Scottish form of “Elizabeth.” It was the choice
of her mother. Her father gave “Katherine” as her middle name after Catherine of
Aragon, but he felt the “K” variant had a stronger sound to it. “Blaine” derives from the
10th Century Gaelic, meaning “sallow.”

WAND WOOD Rosewood has a very special energetic quality, full of mystery and dark magic. It is not the darkness of negativity, but of repose and inner knowing. WAND CORE As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner. The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.

Appearance:

Elspeth is fairly plain in her appearance. She does not take a lot of effort in the mornings, feeling that other things—like information—are far more important than beauty. As such, she wears a natural look. When she does indulge, she likes to wear her hair in 1940s victory rolls as this is how she recalls her mother wear her own hair. Straight and long, hair is a chestnut color and her eyes a bright hazel. Her skin is a pale, perhaps described as 'fair' at best. Her body is long and lean, but not from exercise. It's more like occasionally skimping on food in favor of study sessions. Her nails are long and unvarnished. She wears her Hogwarts uniform well, always ensuring it is clean. Family:

Gregory Blaine: Elspeth maintains an extraordinarily close relationship with her father, who is in effect the only family she really has left. Gregory’s parents live in Perthshire and they sometimes visit. Gregory encourages his daughter in all things, but especially intellectually. He wishes he could give her more, but he also believes she can do anything she puts her mind to.

Teresa (né Milne) Blaine (deceased): Elspeth lost her mother at a very young age, but some bonds are impossible to break. This loss has caused her a great deal of instability, from which she fears she may never recover. Her mother’s side of the family does write to the girl, but overtime have become distance since the situation is all too painful.

Justice Blaine (Chartreux): A young and affectionate male Chartreux, Justice has become the family cat. Gregory felt a pet companion would be helpful to his daughter in her grief. Justice is sad he cannot be at Hogwarts, but he really doesn't fancy the travel.
