The morning rain had put a slight damper on Ariana's mood. She watched, slightly miserably, as the trickles of rain made their way down the castle's prodigious windows, decorating the many delicate spiderwebs with dew droplets, showering the grounds with buckets of icy water. “C’mon Ari, we're gonna be late” A voice next to her snapped her violently out of her thoughts, and though in reality Janet was right next to her, the call reverberated around her brain repeatedly and softly as though she were trapped in a trance. She turned, snapping out of her drowsy state to see Janet standing, packing her bag, most of the common room was deserted.
It took her a second to collect her thoughts together. “Right”. She finally stated, putting an end to Janets pestering attempts to awaken her. “Lessons.” She stood up slowly, repacking her bag in a dreamy fashion, her sense of reality seemed distorted, it was understandable, she had barely gotten a wink of sleep last night. Nevertheless as they made their way down to potions, her usually talkative nature began to flood back, to Janets relief, and they found themselves at the entrance in no time. Everyone else had already entered, although in the commotion of unpacking and bustling around for ingredients, Ariana and Janet's lateness went unnoticed. If Ariana had ever regretted being too loud in a class, it was now. She had only just come to the realization that her and Janet were strictly not permitted to come anywhere near each other during the lesson, lest they explode another cauldron together by accident.
This of course, meant that the gryffindor would have to sit next to the one and only Sky freaking Evans. If her mood had already been less than positive this morning, this was definitely nothing that would enlighten it. Ariana despised the girl beyond anything, her rude arrogant ways, her irritating smirk, her witty comments, her ability to drive Ariana insane, it was infuriating. They couldn't stay in each other's presence for more than five seconds without hurling gratuitous insults at each other. She made her way to the front desk, the sight of the back of the snake's head was already enough to begin a fire raging in the pit of the brunette's stomach. She couldn't bear her. She slammed her books forcefully onto the table, trying [and failing] to contain her anger as she sat herself down in the chair next to her sworn enemy.

Sky was violently jerked out of her thoughts by the jolt of the table and the realization of the presence of a certain gryffindor next to her. She inwardly rolled her eyes, annoyance starting to build up within the sly snake. What was her problem? She turned to look at the girl calmly, her infamous smirk smothered across her features in apparent amusement. “Tut tut Walker, a little hot under the collar already are we?” She teased menacingly, fixing the brunette's furious stare with her own cold maliceful ones. “It's still very early in the morning, have you already found something to be angry about?” She mocked fake shock, gathering her ingredients in front of her as she lit a fire carefully under her cauldron.
Sky had always been brilliant at potions, it was one thing she was definitely proud of. It was a talent herself and her father shared, although she was often too similar to him to ever get along. Identical in personality, their wit and clever remarks often lead to vicious verbal arguments that rattled the poor brains and ears of her dear mother and brothers. She looked up from her cauldron eyeing the brunette's poorly cut ingredients “Don’t come too close to me Walker, I wouldn’t want you slimming up my potion you know.” She stated in a matter-of-fact tone. “I haven't forgotten what a disaster you are when it comes to brewing different elixirs” she smirked again knowingly, a smug smile spread across her features, enjoying the effect she was creating. That girl was irritating beyond anything, the Slytherin couldn’t stand her. Muttering bitterly to herself she picked up her knife, dicing the ingredients into perfect little squares, determined to show her enemy how it was really done.
Permission to godmod Ariana’s poor ingredients~

Ariana ignored the snakes first words, sending a seething look in her direction and she reached for her knife and began shredding her roots. Better not to say anything, she told herself, as she copied Sky actions of lighting a fire delicately underneath her cauldron. As the pink haired girl wore on with her gratuitous comments however, Ariana found herself viciously biting her tounge, to avoid turning the table over in annoyance.
What was it with this girl?
She threw back a snappy remark. “Oh I won’t need to be going anywhere near your hideous potion, In fact, I hope you dissolve in its toxic fumes”, turning back to her roots, she resumed cutting them, her hands slightly shaking with anger as she vented most of her feelings in pretending that each one had the horrible face of the snake next to her.
She saw Sky shoot a malicious look in her direction again, this time eyeing her poorly cut ingredients. She would have been able to cut them better but maybe she was simply careless that way, or maybe it was the very presence of the Slytherin next to her that had mutilated her usually satisfactory performance?
Whatever the case, Ariana wasn’t in the mood for Sky’s aggravating attitude right now and it was with tremendous effort that she stopped herself from dunking the girls head forcefully into the cauldron in front of her. It couldn’t do any harm right? At least it would disfigure the extremely annoying smirk that seemed eternally plastered on her enemy’s pale face.
“I haven't forgotten what a disaster you are when it comes to brewing different elixirs”
She slammed her knife down. Turning to meet the Slytherins smug gaze with her own piercing one. “I forgot what a disaster you are when it comes to making friends!” She emphasised the word ‘friends’ spitefully. It was quite unlike Ariana to go for a personal attack, even more unlike her to demonstrate her hate though mere words. Had the snake's snarky nature rubbed off on her? “Maybe, if you made the effort to be a little nicer, you might find yourself with a few people who actually liked you!”
She spun back around and began mashing her beetle eyes furiously, pounding them with unnecessary force. She shouldn’t have said those things, but then why again was she feeling bad? This was her enemy she was talking about. Sky had said many worse things to her in the past, although was that really a reason to justify her unruly comments? Did the pink haired girl think any similarly toward Ariana in this way? Was she ever even regretful about the things she said to people?
That said, Ariana’s temper was not to be tested, it seemed inevitable that she couldn’t do anything here, not in front of the teacher of course, the fists would come later, maybe the corridors, where she would smash that irritating, arrogant smirk to pieces.
However, Ariana usually found that the snake was prone to verbal arguments rather than using physical resolve. Was the girl such a coward as to not face the gryffindor properly? Was she scared?
Ariana didn’t know, and it was with a vicious shake of her head that she turned once again, back to her potion. It was now ammuting puffs of smoke, she had failed to notice this in her disturbing daydream, could she even call it that? More like a day-mare, she thought bitterly, as she waved her hand in front of her face, fanning the smoke from her now-watering eyes.

“I forgot what a disaster you are when it comes to making friends! Maybe, if you made the effort to be a little nicer, you might find yourself with a few people who actually liked you!”
Sky had found it rather easy to ignore the gryffindors previous comments, she had quite a patient tongue, unlike the loud-mouthed lion seated next to her. Yet, as these words slipped from the brunette's mouth, something stirred within Sky, an unpleasant, almost sickly feeling, a mixture of anger and repulsive shame. She could make friends if she wanted to! She just didn't need any. She was capable of doing anything unaccompanied, no need for a crowd of people following her in every step she preceded to take. She was speechless for a few seconds, anger clouding her vision, her cheeks dusted pink with embarrassment. She then proceed to do something very stupid and childish. She voiced to her worst nemesis, without hesitation or time to reconsider, exactly what she was thinking.
“I can make friends easily, if I wanted, I just dont need them, unlike you I am capable of my own interests, no need for any minions to do the work!”
She was only digging into the wound even more, Walker was sure to snap back savagely. Although wasn’t this what she strived for? Taunting her enemy was appealing, yet she didn't herself want to be humiliated in the process. She stuck her nose in the air, turning away, her eyes still blaring with irritance. Beside her, the gryffindor was pounding her beetle eyes with unnecessary force, the anger boiling within her evident by her actions, she smirked knowingly; Sky was much more reserved in emotional feelings, this wasn't a problem.
It was just as she was adding her beetle eyes to her nearly completed potion, that puffs of smoke began to obscure her vision, pricking at her brown orbs, making them water as she fanned the atmosphere in front of her. She stumbled back, knocking her chair while coughing, her eyes now closed. “Walker!” She exclaimed rather loudly, for she was certain that the smoke had indeed formulated from her companion’s cauldron. “What on earth are you doing, you blithering idiot!” She bit her tongue, refraining from yelling out a few more choiceful terms, instead, standing off until the cloud disappeared. She sent a glare to the girl, picking up her wand and gripping it tightly, “You dimwitted, arrogant littl-” She was stopped by another series of hacking coughs, “What the hell was in that potion!?” She spluttered, and although she had intended for the words to come out cold and demanding, they merely resembled a faltering mess of words, tumbling sporadically from her lips. Sky gleaned hastily at her potion in an effort to reassure herself that her work was not spoiled, thankfully it had remained untouched. She let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding, even though the lack of damage to her work didnt stop the pink haired girl from being any less furious with her enemy.
