AJ sighed as she leaned on the windowsill and watched the owl flying away with her letter. She had been at school for only a few weeks. Before arriving, she was so very excited to learn all about magic. Now that she had been here for a little while, however, she was really wishing that she could go back home. Her letter, of course, had made it sound like she was having a blast. The truth was less upbeat.
Upon her arrival, she had been sorted into Ravenclaw. She had thought that it would be a perfect fit for her, and that she would meet a lot of others like her. Ravenclaws, after all, were supposedly all about knowledge and wisdom. Though that was accurate, she was really wondering if she belonged there. Sure, she loved to learn, but she still had yet to make any friends in her own house. The couple of friends she did make from other houses were completely by chance, and she was still too nervous to reach out to them.
When she was growing up she spent a lot of time in her parents' library reading books about adventure and daring. Many of them had revolved around outgoing kids and teenagers who somehow managed to save the world time and again. When reading those books, she had never been able to relate well to the main characters. No, she usually saw herself best in their shy, powers-free sidekick or friend. You know the one. They don't have anything special or unique about them. No magical powers, no supernatural abilities, nothing. They are just plain old human. Yet, the main character still chose to be their friend for some completely unknown reason, that was very rarely ever stated in the book.
What could make someone want to be friends with a quiet girl who reads a lot of books and is scared to start a conversation with strangers or even people she knows a little bit? Who would choose to be friends with someone like her when she isn't even the best in class or socially outgoing?
She sighed heavily, then chewed on her bottom lip. Her grandfather would be telling her not to worry, and that if she went about her business she would encounter others who enjoyed doing the same things that she did. Her mother would tell her that even if she made no friends her mother still loved her dearly and would be her friend. Her father would let out his charming laugh, the one that won over mother's heart, and tell her that people aren't scary, just go talk to them! He really was a classic Gryffindor.
She smiled at that last thought. A classic Gryffindor. Maybe this place was growing on her just a little bit. Besides, just because she had hardly made any friends in her first couple weeks did not mean that she never would. She was destined to be here for seven years, after all. Maybe there was hope yet for her to find that outgoing main character to be her best friend.

Lindsey climbed up hundreds and thousands of stairs to get to the Owlery. “Oh finally.” She said to herself as she arrived at last.
Being a Hufflepuff, the best thing was that she didn’t have to climb the stairs. “I really wonder how the Gryffindors and Ravenclaws come through this.” She thought.
She had just been to Hogwarts for a month. The time flew by, isn’t it? Unlike her parents, who were Ravenclaws, and her brother who’s in Gryffindor now, she was sorted into Hufflepuff. “Not bad, little girl.” Her father said.
Her cousins in France had sent her letters, too. She’s the youngest Springhall in this generation and her grandparents (who were French) were delighted to see her attending school at last. Lindsey’s coming to send letters back to Paris, where her grandparents, uncle, aunt, and two cousins lived.
“This Ferre!” She murmured, “why does he kept writing French in his letter? He knew I couldn’t read it although the Springhalls were from France! And I have to find Edmund at the Gryffindor tower to translate it to me! Your deadline has come, Combeferre Springhall! Cause I’ve written Chinese in this letter!” Her grandma Linfield was from China so Lindsey was really good at Chinese.
It’s strange that the four young Springhalls were tied to another one when writing letters. Enjolras kept writing to Edmund, and Combeferre kept writing to Lindsey. Enjy was passionate even in his letters, as Ed had showed to her. Ferre——oh Ferre! His mild, but somehow naughty, especially to her. Lindsey sometimes really wished to change her quill-pal with Ed.
Despite this, Lindsey really loved her family. Warm and welcoming, as others said. She’s proud for having a family like this.
Lindsey’s quite confident in making friends, so she had got a few very close friends in just one month. But most of them were Hufflepuffs. “You should make some friends in other houses, Lynn.” Her brother Edmund had told her. “Yeah…” She replied. It’s somehow difficult for her to talk to people she didn’t know.
While she entered the Owlery, she saw a girl wearing Ravenclaw robes standing there. The girl seemed nice and friendly.
“Maybe it’s time for me to make some friends outside Hufflepuff.” Lindsey said to herself.
“Um, hi.” She said with a bit nervousness. “I’m Lindsey, what’s your name please?”

When AJ heard the sound of a voice behind her, she spun around. Her mind flip-flopped between wanting to find a place to hide or to stand there and greet whomever approached. If she hid, she may be stuck there for who knows how long until the person left. Plus, if they found her there was no possible way that she could explain herself. As the door to the owlery opened, she settled on a friendly smile and nervous silence.Chatting with @Lindsey Springhall
The newcomer spoke first and introduced herself as Lindsey.
"Hi. I-I'm AnnieJade. You can call me AJ. It's nice to meet you."
AJ mentally cringed. There she went stuttering again. It was only caused by nerves, but it was enough to embarrass her every time. She tucked a piece of loose chestnut brown hair behind her ear and dropped her gaze for just a moment. When she looked back up, she noticed that the newcomer wore Hufflepuff robes.
"So... are you sending a letter? I just sent one with a school owl. Y'know... to my parents..."
This time she visibly cringed just a little. She needed to learn how to talk to people! She stepped sideways out of the way of the window, just in case she was in the way.

Cassie like challenges. So on the Spring afternoon like this they decided to get out from their dorm room and climb to the highest tower. Their legs burn from climbing hundred and thousand of stairs. "Why do I do this again? Esto es tan estupido (this is so stupid)"Cassie grumbled to no one while still climbing on the flight of stairs. When the last step of stairs beneath their feet, Cassie let out a huffed. "Dios Mio! Never again"Cassie stated. Cassie spun around and lean both of their elbow onto the stone railing. The view definitely worth it. Cassie take a deep breath and let the cool Spring air fill their lungs. From the distance they can see the Great Lake. The last time Cassie went up to the Owelry, Cassie had not yet have the time to look at the surrounding. Faintly Cassie heard voices from inside the Owlery. One of them Cassie seems familiar with it. They spun around and they see AJ and the other girl wearing Hufflepuff robes. Cassie smirk at how bad AJ talking with other human being."Way to start a conversation, AJ"Cassie said jokingly. "You need to socialize more, mate"Cassie told the Ravenclaw girl and patted her shoulder. "How are you? How is your class and everything?"Cassie inquires the brown locks girl. It is not Cassie intention to ignore the other girl but it been so long since Cassie last encounter with AJ.The last time was when both of them in the same compartment in the train. "Where is my manner. Name Cassandra Ironwoods"Cassie stated to the Hufflepuff girl. Cassie just nodded their head to the other girl. No handshake to offer, just a nod. Cassie knows this come out as a rude gesture but they could care less about what other think of them.

AJ froze when she heard another person approach. Talking with one new person was scary enough, but two? That might be too much. She was slightly relieved when Cassie walked in. She had not had a chance to speak with Cassie much since the train ride to school, but she still considered Cassie her first magical friend. AJ offered her a small smile.Chatting with @Lindsey Springhall and @Cassandra Ironwoods
"Hi Cassie, great to see you again. I was just up here sending a letter. So was Lindsey, I think. Sorry, Lindsey, I didn't mean to be rude and keep you from what you were doing."
AJ dropped her gaze, embarrassed, until Cassie asked about classes. AJ perked up at the subject change.
"Classes have been going well! I get mostly Es, but I have a couple Os. Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts are my favorite so far. I am not that good at Herbology or Potions, but I am studying hard so that I can get better."
AJ caught herself before she continued to ramble. She loved learning in general, and talking about classes never failed to build her excitement. Still, it would be rude to monopolize the conversation.
"How are classes going for the both of you?"

Voices emerged aloud ahead of him as he made the final ascent towards the owlery, a slight grimace broke across his features before he'd be visible to those who were loitering within the owlery enclosure. Zykeal would stop a moment upon the staircase that led up to where the birds were kept and cared for, he'd have to mask his displeasure of the errand he was making, regain his composure before anyone came down and across him at that point. A consideration of returning at a later date took a moment to cross his mind, silly though, he had already climbed the height of the tower and he wouldn't let some of his silly peers deter him.
To help, he did what he had always done within this first week at Hogwarts that seemed to calm him down the most. A freehand would shift to his trouser lining and he'd withdraw the ivory-colored wand that was stowed there most of the time. Through his fingers would he twist the aspen wood wand, twirling it as a muggle drummer would one of their drum sticks. After a moment of doing this habit, he'd look back towards the incline and start to make his way up the tower once again. Soft steps would be made as he tried to be quiet, regaining his breath slightly as the stairway was quite the climb, and canting his head to the side to try and make out the voice he had heard inside.
Without being able to identify any of the voices, he shrugged slightly to himself and decided to pass through the open doorway that led to where the owls were held. Zykeal wouldn't stop to look at who was in the room just yet, instead, he'd keep his eyes pointed at a free owl that he identified as soon as he scoped out the room. The room was at least big enough for him to pass by the girls without touching them, so he made care to squeeze by, letting his wand stop twirling for just a moment as he approached the owl. A quick motion to attach the letter he had rolled up within his hand to the owl's leg, a quick scratch on the side of the owls head, and a little, "Cheers mate," was given before he turned to face the others that were within the room.
"Ayo'," he said, a smile forming upon his features, masking any previous annoyance he could have had. A twirl of his wand started once more within his hand and he looked over the three of them there, "Girl talk? I can bunk off if this is a private convo," he mentioned, the free hand of his that wasn't toying with his wand came to the side of his head to run his fingers through that auburn red hair of his for a moment before letting the hand drop to his side to be placed within the pocket of his trousers.

“Well I’m not bad though.” Lindsey tried to smile. She nodded to Cassie. “We’ve had a talk about scores in the corridors before.” Lindsey really hope Cassie did remember, cause she seemed a really nice girl.Interacting with @AnnieJade Halstead @Cassandra Ironwoods and @Zykeal Lane
“Are you all for letters?” Lindsey asked curiously, seeing a boy coming up. “I’m for my cousin.” she added, in order to make things clearer.
Lindsey felt really sorry about the owl that would be carrying her letter. It had to…fly to France. As a result, most owls refused to send letters to Lindsey now. Am I still able to find the owl? She sighed a little.
The boy, who was a Gryffindor, had already come up. “Girl talk? I can bunk off if this is a private convo,” he said.
“Um, actually I don’t mind.” Lindsey looked at AJ and Cassie. “What about….?” She waited for their reply.
“And, haven’t you noticed that we four are in four different houses? That’s really interesting!” Lindsey smiled. She’s not that nervous now, after meeting a couple of other students. I shall be more confident. She said to herself.
“I’m Lindsey,” she said, “and these are AJ and Cassie. Nice to meet you.” she turned to the boy. “Are you sending a letter to your family too?” she asked, smiling.

As the trio spoke, the sound of yet another person approaching reached AJ's ears. She had hardly expected to encounter even one person in the owlery, let alone three. Part of her wished that she could just melt through the floorboards and hide. Still, this was exactly what she had been telling herself that she needed a moment ago. She internally took a deep breath and looked over at the door to see a boy wearing Gryffindor colors enter the room.Interacting with @Lindsey Springhall @Cassandra Ironwoods and @Zykeal Lane
"I was sending a letter to my parents and my grandfather," AJ told the other two. "Filling them in on how classes are going, and such."
The Gryffindor approached and spoke up. AJ offered him a shy smile. "I don't mind. We were just discussing letters and classes."
Lindsey pointed out that the group of them each represented the four houses of school, and AJ grinned. It was quite the coincidence, and now she could say that she had met someone from each of the other houses! Her father would be proud of her for expanding her social group already. She wondered if the others felt more comfortable in their houses than she felt in hers. Here she was, befriending people from every other house, except her own. Still, what should it matter if she didn't have any Ravenclaw friends? If this group became friends, she could be the Ravenclaw. That thought made her smile.
"I'm AJ, by the way." She offered her hand and a smile to the boy.

A nod was given to the girl who first spoke up to him, approval of his company was granted and he offered a slight smile once more to the girls in the owlery. When she made the observation on the houses, Zyk would inspect the three girls and offer a slight nod in agreement on how odd the situation might be construed if anyone else were to arrive. "Interesting, honestly the house thing bothers me, not a big fan of it," he offered, a shrug being given to suggest his distaste of the process. "The sorting hat decided for me to be one of these Gryffindors, not sure I belong here though," he offered casually, flicking his white wand through his fingers once more.
Lindsey introduced herself then, a nod was given in turn towards her and the other two before one of the others decided to speak up. Zyk nodded to her explanation of why she was in the owlery but offered no answer to why he was there, it was more of a private matter for himself. When she extended her hand and properly introduced herself though, he beamed in approval, golden hues shifted across her for a moment before stopping his wand being spun and stowing it into the lining of his trousers. A step forward was made and he made the connection of her handshake with his own, "Cheers, you can call me Zyk(zeek)," he confirmed.
Letting her hand go, he shifted his gaze back to the three of them and made more of a deep breath before he continued on, figuring that he'd ask a few questions to the fellow first-years who were new at the school, like he was, "I'm more interested in wands, to be honest," he started as he brought back out his aspen wand and started to twirl it once more like a drum stick, "I've noticed a lot of people have different woods, the wandmaker sold me this aspen wood wand, it fits well and I enjoy the coloration of it, it's a bit more unique than the brown ones," he said, a little bit of pride showing as he looked down across his wand as it spun within his fingers, "My favorite subject so far is Charms though, how about you guys?" he questioned, looking back over the others.

When the Hufflepuff mention the event where the Cuban girl and she met, Cassie remembered. "Oh yeah. Lindsey, right?"Cassie asks the other girl for the confirmation. Lindsey asking if they and AJ up on the Owlery for letter. "I am not. I am bored at my dorm and I took upon to challenge myself climbing the highest tower"Cassie explained. "Never again"The chuckles.
AJ, herself, gave her reason why she is up on the Owlery to the Hufflepuff girl. Then another student come up to the Owlery. The red head boy Cassie met during the game where Third year held. The red head boy mention about girl talk and he can bounced out if what Lindsey, AJ and themselves share a private convo.
"Nope. We just discussed the reason we are all in this tower"Cassie smiled to the boy. Still trying to remember the boy name. Then Lindsey mention that the four of them represent each of the four houses. Cassie try not to winced out when the girl mention that. Lindsey mention AJ and Cassie's name toward the Gryffindor boy.
The Gryffindor boy agreed with what Lindsey said about the houses and he also voice out what Cassie thinking. The boy, himself, is not a fan when people mention houses in their conversation. The boy then introduced his name, Zyk. The name finally clicked in Cassie's mind. Cassie smile when finally they can put name to the face.
Zyk mention about the interest of the wand, in his hand is a white color wand. The boy mention about the core wood. Cassie takes out their wand and examine it. The brown wand have nothing special like Zyk's. "Aspen wood?,"Cassie inquires the red head boy. "Mine too. How delightful"Cassie beams.
"Mine so far is Charms and Herbology."Cassie added when Zyk asking about class subjects. "Not so much on Defense Against the Dark Arts and Potions"Cassie sighed at the mentions of those to lessons.
