Nervous
Today was Nell Zoldak’s first class at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was quite nervous too.
Nell made her way to the back desk in the classroom. She lay her quill down and rolled out her parchment with her ink-stained hands.
Nell made sure to not interact with any of the other students. She was shy and quiet, and didn’t really want to make friends.
She promised her parents she would focus on her studies, which she would do anyway. She looked around and noticed it was her History of Magic Class.
With that, she took out her textbook and opened it up quietly to the first lesson. She began reading it so she would have an idea of what was going on.
Her icy blue eyes read each page quickly and carefully. When she finished reading, she flipped back to the first page so she was ready.
Nell noticed he class was a mixture of Ravenclaws like herself and some Hufflepuffs. She knew Hufflepuff students were loyal, but also friendly.
“Stay away from them,” she thought to herself. Eventually the professor came in and greeted the class warmly.
Nell stayed quiet, but payed close attention to his every word. She also took notice of every other student, and the look of confidence on their faces.
Suddenly, Nell felt a tap on her shoulder and turned her head around quickly.

“Hello!” Lindsey smiled to the Ravenclaw girl sitting in front of her. “I’m Lindsey. Hufflepuff.” She smiled. The Ravenclaw girl seemed surprised. She lookes a bit lonely…or does she just like to be quiet? Lindsey wondered.
It’s quite easy to make friends at Hogwarts if you are a talkative student. Lindsey’s confident when chatting with friends her already knew, but it’s a little difficult for her to speak first to an unknown peer——she think herself’s nervous to tell others her name. Weird, right? But it occurred on her, so her parents and brother did their best to let her introduce herself on her own to strangers.
Well, this was actually the first time for her to chat with an unacquainted student. This Ravenclaw girl was attractive, with…difficult to describe, but she just made others peaceful and pleasant when sitting near her.
“My parents were Ravenclaws.” Lindsey added, seeing the girl didn’t reply. “The sorting hat had considered sorting me into Ravenclaw too, it had also hesitated on Gryffindor. But, Hufflepuff at last and I really love my house! The four houses are all great though!” Lindsey tried to enliven the atmosphere.
However, as the girl opened her mouth to reply, the professor started the lesson.
“Maybe we’ll talk after class?” Lindsey said to the girl.
She nodded. Lindsey felt excited. She could finally overcome her nervousness.
And, most importantly, she found a new friend.

Nell nodded as the girl spoke. She wanted to introduce herself. She wanted to tell Lindsey her background. She wanted to do so much, but she just couldn’t. She figured she should try at least after class.
Nell scribbled the notes from the huge chalkboard on to her parchment. She dipped her quill in the dark, black ink with expertise, and wrote small, neat cursive.
She was warned by her muggle parents to get “whatever the highest grade is in that school.” Nell didn’t need reminding. She had a habit that could be both and bad of putting her grades first.
When the class ended, Nell stood up, books in hand. She faced the girl and, in a small voice, she introduced herself. “I’m Nell. Ravenclaw,”she said quietly.
Internally, she was shaking. She didn't talk to many people at all. Nell proceeded to tell the girl, Lindsey, Nell recalled, a tiny bit about her parents.
"My, um, parents are, er, muggles," she said quickly and quietly.
Nell would probably never understand why she was so socially awkward. Was it just the way she was? Was it always being the one left out in her family? Was it because she spent days on end in her room, not making any social interaction? She assumed it could have been all those things.
With that, Nell turned her attention back to Lindsey.

Hyuna had no intention to talk, or even look at anyone. She was a very cold person and basically hated everyone before she even knew them. She sat down in the seat furthest away from everyone else as thoughts ran through her brain. The last time she'd had a friend it hadn't ended well. They'd betrayed her and left her to be the laughing stock of the whole school. That wasn't going to happen again, unless she could really see someone had good intentions.
She took out a quill and parchment from her bag, getting ready for the class. She wondered again why she'd been put in Gryffindor. She had always expected to be in Hufflepuff like her parents, even though she wasn't the tiniest bit a nice person, and lied quite a lot when she needed to. Then, the hat had thought about putting her in Slytherin too, and she'd hoped it wouldn't as her parents would be disappointed. After all, at least she'd been put in the house of Harry Potter, and she could be pretty brave sometimes.
She looked around the classroom, to see people talking. She thought about what she'd say if someone came up to her. Hyuna hadn't socially interacted for so long, she wasn't sure. Maybe, hello? Then, how are you? She had no idea. They would probably think she was a weirdo.
Hyuna had many things she wanted to do at Hogwarts, but making friends was not one of them.

“It’s really nice to meet you, Nell!” Lindsey smiled. She’s glad to find a new friend.
“So you are from a non-magical family right? That must be great!” She said.
To be frank, Lindsey hated the word “muggle”. She’s a pure-blood, yeah, but her family were always called “blood traitor” in the war years.
The word “muggle” was really stupid in Lindsey’s opinion, however, true muggles were not. They created fine arts and wrote lots of great books. Her family all appreciated muggle works. “They are so much better than our ones.” Her father always said.
Lindsey’s mom loved the paintings and sculptures, whereas Lynn liked the books. She really admired Alexander Dumas and Victor Hugo. And, she got very surprised when knowing what machines the muggle scientists had made to serve them like magic.
No one should be despised because of their background. Lindsey thought. She turned to Nell. “Don’t be that nervous when talking to others. I don’t think others will be against you only because you are not wizard-born! You are an attractive girl, believe me! She smiled.
Nell nodded. As they were talking, Lindsey bumped into a Gryffindor girl.
“Oops, I’m really sorry.” Lindsey said quickly but politely.
The Gryffindor girl seemed a little annoyed.
“My name’s Lindsey, Hufflepuff, and this is Nell, Ravenclaw. She’s a great person!” Lindsey introduced the two girls to her.

Hyuna took a breath. Don't be rude, she thought. Her parents had told her she should start being a bit kinder when she arrived at Hogwarts, and to make friends, but she hadn't done that yet. They'd said it will be much harder with no friends to talk to.
Sometimes she didn't even want to be rude, she just didn't know how to socialise since the last time she'd had a friend, which didn't end well. It had given her trust issues. When the girl bumped into her, she knew she looked very annoyed, but then toned her automatic anger down and tried her best to seem like an okay person. She looked at them, one girl was a Hufflepuff and the other was a Ravenclaw, and both looked kind. They introduced themselves as Lindsey and Nell.
Hyuna introduced herself weakly. "I'm Hyuna," she said quietly. "Hello." she was at a loss for a moment, then carried on. "You two have nice names. And, uh, I'm not really good at talking to others, I, yeah..." she trailed off lamely. Oh God, I messed up, she thought. The girl ran a hand through her hair nervously and didn't know what else to say, or she did but was just scared to embarrass herself with her poor speaking skills. Hyuna turned pink and just waited.

Lindsey introduced them both, much to Nell’s relief. One less person to talk to. The girl introduced herself as Hyuna. Nell nodded as the girl said she wasn’t good at talking to people. At least one person was like her.
“Well - um - I - er- got to go to - um - herbology,” she lied, quietly.
Before anyone could question her, And Nell scurried away to the Great Lake. She placed her books down beside her and sighed. She watched a tentacle rise up from the water and sink back down.
“Hey buddy,” she murmured.
The brisk air whirled around her pleasantly as Nell lie there. After awhile, when Nell was sure all the students had gone to another class, she grabbed her books and walked to Charms.
The place was flooded with Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws. She put her head in her hands knowing she’d run into Lindsey again. Nell’s didn’t want to be rude, but she really, really had a hard time talking and being around people.
Nell took a seat somewhere in the back area. She was tempted to chose the one-seater, but she sat in the two-seater, not wanting to come off cold.
