Not Strawberry, But Mango

Ersa stuck her finger into the strawberry mess, swirling it around until a clown face formed. She was bored, resting her chin on her hand as she played around with her ice cream. It wasn't even her favorite but she had picked it because her sister Flavia insisted that it was the best flavor in Florean. She begged to differ; it was between butter pecan, mango, and something called gooey, gummy galore, which was—shocking—covered in gummy bears. And they tried to crawl up your throat.
She sighed and looked out the window, which they were sitting next. Outside hundreds of wizards and witches passed by, enjoying the warm and sunny day. It was too nice to be inside but Ersa's parents were busy shopping with her older brother Cillian, who somehow managed to get his done later than everyone else. Usually her brother was punctual but she guessed that he was just nervous about the upcoming school year.
Ersa was, too, but she didn't show it, at least not openly. She preferred to write down things that bothered her, like a diary entry or in the form of poems, whichever suited her better. Sometimes, when she was really stressed out and needed to do something with her hands besides hurt something, she would cut out words from newspapers and magazines and paste them onto paper. In the end Ersa usually felt many times better.
She had given her cellphone, which she'd paid for all by herself with her allowance despite her father's disagreement, to Flavia, who was busy playing some arsenal game. She wouldn't be playing if their father was around but luckily he wasn't, so she was lost in the game. It was lucky for Ersa, though, who managed to sneak away to buy another ice cream.
She walked up to the counter, fiddling with the bottom of her honey shirt. She was wearing a pale yellow crop top with a pair of jeans and brown sandals, summer clothes. Ersa gazed around; she probably knew half of these faces while they hardly knew her, not that she minded.
Ersa smiled at the worker and pointed to the flavor she wanted. "Mango, please," she requested before giving the money to them.
Be afraid and do it anyway.

Not Strawberry, But Mango
"Can I got two scoops ice cream? A Chocolate Frog and Drooble's Best Blowing Gum. Put the bubble gum under the Chocolate frog one," said a feminine voice nearby. Ersa grimaced in her head; she was not a fan of such combination but she wasn't rude enough to mention it aloud.
Ersa stood off to the side, watching the worker place the two scoops into a small bowl. The orangey yellow ice cream long so delicious that her mouth began to water when she remembered her setting. But she couldn't help it, Ersa hadn't had anything mango in a long while, maybe since her last birthday. Her mother was going through this phase where every quarter of the year she'd focus on one type of fruit and they hadn't come around mango yet, if they ever would. She was just thankful that she liked to save her money.
She thanked the worker and meant to make off with her frozen treat but nearly bumped into someone by her. There was flash of color and hair as the both tried not to fall into one another while saving their ice creams.
Ersa muttered a curse, just managing not to ruin her new clothes, and narrowed her eyes at the girl.
She seemed to be one of those frisky, absent-minded types who hardly, apparently, looked where they were going. Ersa had simply turned and would've landed on her bum covered in a mango mess if it weren't for her flight instincts.
"Blimey!" she said. "Sorry about that."
Her hands tightened around her bowl as she eyed the girl briefly. "Watch where you're goin'," she chided before starting over for where her sister sat. The girl hadn't even looked up for the phone at all.
Be afraid and do it anyway.
