Looking Lonely
Rose Moon was sitting cross - legged near the edge of the lake. It was a beautiful day. It was warm and there was a playful breeze that messed with Rose's auburn hair. Her hair was completely down, which was rare, and it curled beautifully down her back. Rose's emerald eyes watched the ripples in the lake and the clouds drift across the sky. She watched the birds in the trees and the other students that were far away talking about something. It was such a peaceful day, but...
But Rose was lonely. She wished with all of her heart there was someone to spend this day with. Even if it was someone who rambled on and on, she didn't care. She wanted a friend.
Don't get me wrong; nobody was unkind to Rose, but nobody was her friend. Well, that wasn't true. Not completely. There was Ivy, but... Ivy wasn't around all the time. Rose sighed and closed her eyes, just listening to the birds chattering. Whenever she was bored, she pretended they were talking to each other.
It brought a smile to her face. She readjusted her hair so that all of it rested on her back. Listening to the birds made her not feel so lonely, but the feeling was still there, like an ache in her soul that she could try to ignore but not get rid of.
