History Before Hogwarts

Horace Vargas grew up as an only child at Vargas Manor, the magnificent mansion in Bristol which had been in his family’s possession for many centuries. From the time when he could talk, it was made clear to him that he was triply special: firstly as a wizard, secondly as a pure-blood, and thirdly as a member of the Vargas family.

He was raised to believe that he was better because of his pure blood but he himself was quite reluctant in believing such unfounded facts. He believed that even though his house's reputation had been closely related to the dark lord he can change that he is not gonna be supporting his family's unknown hate for muggles. He will not be like them.

Horace is an introvert and he likes to keep his thoughts to himself. The reason for such behavior was of course his family and friends all of them were bragging douches and he never found anyone logical enough to talk to so he learnt to not talk.

This gave him a lot of free time though so he made a new hobby to read and he liked to read. He read a lot of books about magic and history. He loved to learn new spells and tried not to brag about his knowledge. That he wasn't the ideal wizard too as he also had his weaknesses. He didn't know much about potions, herbology, or well anything that didn't involve any wand waving. And he was straight up terrified of flying he has just used floo powder and other usual systems of transit and never even actually tried to ride a broom.

                                                                      Personality

Horace is usually very organized and polished. But sometimes you may still find him running around the dorm throwing things around to find a book. He loves dueling but at the same time he doesn't as whenever he gets into such things he gets very competitive and unnatural. He never actually talked about his past life but anyone meeting him can easily tell by his ways that he comes from a well off pure blood family. He is the common studious ravenclaw but he does have some tricks up his sleeve. Living with slytherins for his whole life has paid of somewhat. He is actually really sly and doesn't get fooled that easily. He is the perfect combination of knowledge and ambition.

Animal : any as long as its useful in someway he doesn't choose pets just because they are "cute".

Septima Vargas (pureblood) (NPC) : Septima is Horace's Mother, she is a very strong and confident woman. She looks after the family's estates while Horace's father is busy with his work at the ministry. Even though being a lady shes the head of the house. She has always taught Horace everything herself. What it means to be a Vargas and how he shouldn't hate muggles. His mother is very modest about the blood status of anyone but she does keep reminding Horace that even though he should be friendly with everyone he shouldn't forget about his own family's reputation in the Wizarding world so to keep a safe distance from muggle borns or such. Even though Horace never actually paid any heed to such advises and his mother also doesn't seem to be following her own rules.

Victor Vargas (pureblood) (NPC) : Victor is Horace's father, He is a very fun loving free man. He doesn't care much about anything and has almost no stress at all. He has left all the responsibilities to his wife while he is busy managing his important parties with the people of the ministry. Even though hes all jolly and happy there is still the fact that he still thinks that pureblood should be of more influence and importance. He looks down upon the muggle borns and simply hates muggles. But he never openly talks about his thoughts as first the dark lord is no more and second his wife doesn't agree and if he goes on he may have to spend the night in the stables.

Ester Rosier (pureblood) (NPC) : Ester is Horace's aunt and a close relative to the Vargas'. She brings a ton of presents and stuff with her on every visit and she pays special attention to Horace. Horace still doesn't like her much even though she isn't bad in any way but there is always something creepy and dark about her that Horace can't understand. Sometimes she just blankly stares at Horace smiling. Horace's mom has taught him to act nicely with aunt ester and that she is an important member of the family. Horace slowly realised about why aunt ester got so much special treatment. She was a rosier, her family was one of the sacred twenty eight. But for some reason their was no mention of her in the books. Seems like she cowered in the shadows while her family gained glory. And after all is done she comes up to reap the rewards of the long dead.

Kreffent (elf) (NPC) : Kreffent is the house elf belonging to the Vargas'. Horace has seen him work around the manor since his childhood. Kreffent is actually smart as a house elf. He doesn't run around like a mindless chicken but actually does his job with expertise and etiquette. That said Kreffent was actually treated nicely by the family members even though they can't set him free by giving him new clothes so he has too look shaby and beat up but other than that they don't treat him like a slave at all. Horace actually learned a bit from Kreffent about magic and the outside world when he was young. He spent hours with Kreffent discussing the amazing stories about the Dark times and learning some spells which he couldn't cast even now.
