It was a given that libraries weren't made for Cordelia. Yet the rowdy young Gryffindor found herself staring at a wall of books that would most certainly crush her if they fell over. In the room of silence, she held back a cough and grabbed the first book she could, making her way over to an empty table. With a huff, Cordelia sat down, her long hair cascading over her features as she rested her chin on the table. For a moment, it seemed as if she'd settled. She remained absolutely still, holding her breath and squeezing her eyes shut. Cordelia's mind moved too fast for her, especially in situations she didn't want to be in. But she was a girl of her promises. Her father had made her promise to spend at least two hours in the library every week while at Hogwarts. He told her that it would get easier as the year went on, but Cordelia didn't seem to feel any different.

She exhaled, sitting up and brushing her hair out of her face. Cordelia opened the book she'd grabbed, holding it out in front of her face. She stared at the page so hard her eyes began to hurt, it seemed as if her body was rejecting her attempt at reading. Lowering the book, the girl's eyes scanned the faces of those around her. She often found herself wondering what was going through other people's heads as she sat and ranted in her own. Not to mention she enjoyed people watching. People at Hogwarts were interesting compared to other places. Eventually, her eyes found another's. A friendly grin appeared on the girl's features and she sat up straight in her chair. She thought things might be easier if she had someone to whisper with. Cordelia beckoned the person to come over, the same goofy smile stuck on her face. She was slightly worried they'd just walk away, pretending not to have seen her, but Cordelia was ready to take that chance. She closed her book and folded her hands nicely on top of the cover, waiting expectantly of the person she'd non-verbally called over.

He sat at his usual spot, a small table near a window that provided a rather picturesque view of Hogwarts, only he rarely looked out upon it. Instead, he spent a lot of his free time in the library, looking over the vast amount of knowledge that these bound pages held.

Still, even when concentrating on words before you, one sometimes has an inclination that their being watched and he glanced up to see the girl glancing his way. She smiled to him, and at first he wondered maybe if his hair was messed up or his robes were askew and she found him amusing but he decided that no, this was more a friendly sort of smile.

Normally stuck in his world of Ravenclaw friends, Carter closed his book, slung his bag over his shoulder, and met the girl at her table in the library. "Can't say I've seen you here before," he said to her. "Did you need help with something?" Often, some of the other students would rely on the Ravenclaws to do their research for them. It was as if it was a given that every Ravenclaw knew exactly the right place to look. "I don't mind."

One day at a time.

In the corner of her eye, she saw a figure of a girl sat down a few seat away from her. She could feel the tension practically radiating from the girl. She doesn't look like she wants to read anything. Alexis was confused, why come to the library and not read? She will never understand. Who doesn't like to read? For her, reading edifise minds. Reading is something she's incredibly fond at. She could sit here and read for hours!

Alexis's eyes darted up from the book in her hands. From her stop at the table, she saw a Gryffindor girl with a goofy smile spread wide on her face beckoning a Ravenclaw boy to come closer to her.

Alexis found the scene unfolding in front of her quite odd. The girl seemed enthusiastic but on the other hand, the boy looked unsure but slowly walking closer to her anyway. So they don't know each other then. Alexis was debating whether or not she should listen in on their conversation but decided against it. Eavesdropping is unmannerly. After all, if they wish to talk to her they would include her in their conversation eventually.
