@Charlotte HarringtonIt was late, not so late that he'd get into trouble for being out and about but rather that time when dinner would be in full swing in the Great Hall or when other students would pack up some food and retreat with their loot to wherever they thought to eat together but Elsi hadn't been in the mood to do either. He could have stayed in the hall and hung around with Willow or Sage. Probably could have even convinced a few of the others to ditch the hall and eat in the courtyard but in the end he just wasn't in the mood.
He wasn't in much of a mood for anything really and there lay the problem.
Sleep had evaded him all day for once in his life and continued to do so. He felt tired and energized at the same time, making it impossible for him to simply lie around like he'd prefer but also shudder at the idea of actually doing anything remotely taxing. It grated on his nerves and he'd resigned himself to the fate of wandering the halls with his bag after failing to fall asleep back in the dorms. Maybe, just maybe go outside if he could bring himself to deal with all the noise on the ground floor but somehow he had a feeling that wouldn't be the case if his bad mood had anything to say about it.
Eyes to the ground his thoughts drifted. Hovering over the edge of thinking about nothing and barely stopping itself from crossing the line of worrying about everything. Annoying. Very much so really especially when they started to wander towards people.
He really didn't want to think about that.
'shut up' he thought, hissing at his own brain angrily. It needed to be quiet and for a split second it was. Probably because his body was busy panicking as he felt something very solid shove at his side.
He hadn't even realized someone was there. Not until he accidentally smacked into them, almost sending the other tumbling into the stair ramp they were near. Head snapping up he blindly grabbed the other by the arm snatching them away from the staircase and a painful fall.
Only to falter when the others weight now fell against him, wincing when he put all his weight down on his ankle to try and stop himself from toppling over. It didn't work and he found himself hissing in pain as his arm smacked into the ground in an attempt to catch himself and not bash his own head in thank you very much.
"ow-" he hissed, feeling the way his own bag dug painfully into his side, "ow, please move," he gasped, slightly shoving against the poor person he'd almost assalted. He was glad he caught them for the most part vs the stairs but their weight was making the bag stab into him and please move.

Charlotte lazily clopped down the stairs, wandering the halls yet again. She had bypassed her too-formal and too-lonely dinner in the Great Hall for a couple of stale Chocolate Frogs her brother had given her. The cards were only Devlin Whitehorn and Bertie Bott. She had about fifty of Bertie. She couldn’t wait for the time she could visit Honeydukes. She let herself imagine a fantasy world where she went with a group of friends and they would joke and make friendly snide comments and pass Every Flavour Beans around, betting on who would get a vomit flavored one...She sighed, examining the portraits socializing above her with curious eyes, and her eyesight and presence of mind spent elsewhere, ran smack into a solid...thing.
Her breath left her chest as she teetered back, eyes wide in shock, her balance not yet processing her imminent fall when-a firm hand snatched her tiny bicep, pulling her upright. Yet she hadn’t quite gotten her senses back, and before she could stop herself, she pitched forward and continued to fall forward on to her rescuer.
She heard a dull thud as they hit the ground and a hissed “ow-”. She was still catching her breath, unsure of her positioning. “Ow, please move” came the familiar voice. The all too familiar voice.
Elsian. Her stomach dropped, leaving her lightheaded. Still paralysed, maybe even more so now, Charlotte hardly felt as he gently shoved her off of him. Her situation hitting her like a brick, her instinct to run was suddenly overwhelming; she sat up quickly, her vision swimming.
“Elsian!” she squeaked. “Um, thanks. And, sorry. For me crushing you.” She brushed her unruly curls off of her face, daring to meet his eye as she quickly adjusted her robes.

@Charlotte HarringtonHe relaxed with a slight groan, shoving himself to sit upright on the ground while dragging his bag from his side where he was sure he would have a bruise from the sharp edge of his book. He could feel it. That familiar ache that he always got when he hit his arm or leg hard enough against a tree that at this point let him know he'd have a new, temporary, wound to deal for the week. Rubbing at the sore spot he blinked in confusion at the others use of his name. He didn't recognize the voice at first. Didn't match his friends at all. So who-
Eyeing the other blankly Elsian moved to push away the messy hair trying to get in his face again as he actually took in the person he'd smacked into with a confused "how-" before his mouth clamped shut.
He struggled for a moment to place the face and the sudden feeling of annoyance that bubbled up making him want to scoff and snip at the girl. Honestly feeling a bit surprised at himself for the sudden hostility he felt. But then it clicked taking in the colors of her robes and the unruly curls, the girl herself had an almost entirely different air from before that threw him off.
Then again, one could figure anyone might be off after almost being pushed down a flight of stairs...
"Its you..."
A statement. Nothing more. Though it was obvious he wasn't very glad to see her if the small narrow of his eyes and the downturn of his lips were anything to go by but it disappeared quickly into a blank cover of politeness.
"Apology accepted," he shoved himself up, forcing back a wince when his ankle protested. It was better but it didn't mean that fall hadn't hurt.
"I'm sorry for almost pushing you."

“It’s you…”
Charlotte eyed the downturn of Elsian’s lips, the narrowed green eyes. He was equally taken aback at seeing her, if albeit more annoyed than a nervous wreck, as she was. She watched carefully as his face melted into a blank slate with a practiced sort of unbothered politeness.
“Apology accepted,” he muttered, as Charlotte watched him push himself to his feet. She had hurt him. She could tell he was protesting a wince as he shifted his weight. She didn’t think she could feel worse.
“I’m sorry for almost pushing you.”
Charlotte blanched at his apology, her heart stopping. Everything had completely changed now that Elsian knew how truly vulnerable she was. Hearing him apologize to her, when she had clearly bumped into him was shocking. Where was his ease of arrogance? His wit and quick layered insults? She knew she had been in the wrong last time they spoke, and didn’t see how she could ever recover, but this apology was unwarranted.
Her desperate need to be liked, revered, admired, had already been demolished with him-what else was there? Being known? Unlikely.
“Um, don’t be. Sorry.” she looked away, down at her feet, the wall behind him, anywhere but his all-seeing eyes. She prayed for a change of subject, tugging on her hair.
“Uh, I think we have potions together next week.” she choked out. Her face flushed. Here she was, trying to make amends. It was bound to be useless, with how she had acted before. And then cried in front of him. She was thoroughly embarrassed, and was searching the proximity around them for an escape just to disappear. But there were no familiar faces to run to; there never were, just Elsian’s swimming in front of her as her gaze returned to him, expectant for a crass dismissal.

@Charlotte HarringtonIt was obvious she was surprised by the why went unanswered. Had she expected him to stoop down to her level from back at the library? With petty upturned facades and flowery insults? No, she'd deserved it back then but he wasn't downright cruel unless the person either deserved it or started it.
His eyes narrowed again as she looked away, zeroing in her hands as she looked away and tugged at her own hair. Not like how others did it either, not like how he did it, simply out of boredom or maybe even embarrassment. She looked practically frozen, the tugs looking like something that could lead to a bad habit. Lead to her pulling her own hair out even-
His hand snapped out against his will fingers curling around the others wrist, pulling her hand away from where it looked like she was about to pull. Too hard, it didn't take much. She probably didn't even realize it. "You shouldn't do that," he said, eyes trailing back from her hand and to her face once he let go, "you'll hurt yourself with that sort of habit."
He'd hadn't felt an ounce of pitty back at the library. Not even when she turned away with what looked to be the beginning of tears and rushed words that he hadn't truly caught. Something about the spot he was sure and himself but he'd still been tired and barely woken up from his peaceful nap. Now though? Face flushed, fingers tugging and eyes downturned...She looked ready to cry just being in front of him or maybe fall on shaky limbs even if he couldn't see her shaking she practically looked like she would at any second like a barked tree in a harsh storm.
He'd call it pity, the ugly feeling churning in his chest and replacing the annoyance from before. Or at the very least he'd pretend that's what it was.
Just pity.
"I didn't know that." he admitted, looking at least a bit more curious than apathetic about this whole thing.
It helped that he really hadn't known she was even in any of his classes. Then again, that was probably his fault sleeping as much as he did and the times he didn't not really bothering to talk with people unless in a group. Unless...she was lying for a topic grab but...
"I don't think-" he paused, eyeing her as he tried to actually place her face. From anytime besides the library really, frowning when he realized that he did share potions with the girl. He'd seen her, with another group after he'd gotten lectured for finishing the potion without his partner when the kid had started talking with his friends.
"oh," he stated simply, tilting his head in thought as he brought a hand up to his chin out of habit, "you're right. We do share potions. I..." hadn't even recognized her? Didn't even notice? But wait, if they shared potions why hadn't he seen her at the library for the study groups like the teacher had set them up for- oh.
"You've been avoiding the library haven't you." A statement.

Her skin still nearly tingled from where he had guided her hand away from tugging at her hair and then her attention was taken by his words.
"You've been avoiding the library haven't you."
Her eyes went wide, declaring non verbally that his statement was, in fact, true. The blood began to return to her head as she realized he wasn’t being cruel. It was simply a statement, and a rather harmless one as noted by his hand gently resting on his chin in thought. She ducked her head quickly, but steeled herself and met his gaze again.
“Yes. I-I’ve been rather embarrassed.” she admitted. It took nearly everything in her to admit it, but once she did, the knot in her stomach untwisted. Sweet Merlin. She had wanted so badly to be liked, but now that Elsian knew her, and had extended kindness...she realised she would forever be in his debt. How could she ever make it up to him? Another wave of shame came over her, but she did her best to ignore it.
“I’m sorry,” she said softly, again. Lottie had never been a particularly shy person, but having seen past her bold and brash (albeit rude) facade, her underlying insecurity had taken over.
“I should-I should go.” The words rushed out of her mouth, nearly slurred. She bit her bottom lip, meeting his eyes again, not really expecting anything, but to communicate what she couldn’t say. Charlotte stood still though, glued to her spot despite her parting words. It’s not like she had anywhere to go anyways.

@Charlotte HarringtonHe hadn't expected the other to be so easy to read. Like a card being shoved straight in his face while the answer was being yelled at him in the middle of a card game vs the way she'd acted back in the library. He may have been a bit foggy on the very ending but he clearly remembered her bad attitude. The way she'd turned to look down her nose at him from his slouched spot, the way she'd declared it her spot, the way she'd gotten red and rigid when he'd-
Oh.
He stared her down silently, perhaps in a way that could come off as cold or judging. The way his green eyes stared pointedly at her as if she was an alien from another planet and she'd just told him that the planet was actually a giant turtle moving slowly through the universe.
Baffled. Befuddled. And a little judgey if one were to be completely honest. As if she'd just single handedly lost a whole castle somehow.
"You were..."his nose wrinkled, face twisting into one of disbelief. After all that talk, she'd literally just abandoned 'her spot' and risked her grades possibly because...she was embarrassed?
Sorry she said. And his eyes narrowed on her again, as if determining something in his head whilst she slurred out an excuse. Eyes glued to the floor like he was about to sentence her to some ill fate and Merlin if he didn't want to at least shake some sense into the Ravenclaw.
"That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard," he scoffed darkly, hand raising to grab her own tightly.
He couldn't believe this. She was just like the rest of them at this point and he hated it. He hadn't liked her at all back then, not a bit, why else would he retaliate like that? But this? Was she an idiot? Was everyone an idiot? She wasn't acting very Raven like at all. More so just like the basic crow.
"Come on," he commanded, voice blank and offering no other choice but forward as he turned on his heel dragging the other by her hand down the staircase without so much as a backwards glance to see her reaction.
