Meeting with a Friend
Interaction with @Adohiro Moira
Harper had really become close friends with Adohiro after they had met in the Ballroom not too long ago, they had discussed things ranging from their favorite classes to funny experiences they had with teachers before coming to Hogwarts. They had been sitting with each other in the few classes they had together for a few days now and they discussed meeting for a drink at the Leaky Cauldron so they could chat outside of school and also take a break from the stresses of studying.
Harper arrives a few minutes before the time they had arranged to meet and orders herself a Butterbeer, which before coming to Hogwarts she had never heard of until she had heard some students talking about it so she decided to order it and try it. She waited at the counter for a few moments as the man behind it made her drink and then took her drink once he had finished and looked around for a nice place to sit. She found a table visible from the entrance so when her good friend Adohiro arrived he would see her. Once she sat down she took a sip of her Butterbeer and smiled wide. It was really good! She now knew what she would be ordering when she came here by herself or with her friends.

Adohiro was going to meet his friend, they had gotten well along with each other. Maybe he could even ask her out to the ball? He did not know if he would be accepted or rejected, or maybe he would have some competition with other male competitors. He hoped that would not be the case since being rejected was not a fun thing to go through. He hated the feeling of rejection and he let out a small sigh. He still was quite unsure and perplexed if he should dare ask her. However, he would ask her in a public setting, which might make her say yes to his advances. It would be embarrassing if she had rejected him but also it would be embarrassing for her, all eyes would be on her. Either way, it was a very awkward moment. He stepped inside the dimly lit place and he would observe the place.
He soon spotted Harper's familiar face and he would sit from across from her. "Sorry I am sort of late. I ran into one of my clan members so I had to talk with him." He would give an apologetic smile. He really loathed running into people he knew because then he would be forced to talk.

Harper honestly hadn't really thought about The Ball. If he were to ask her she would likely say yes because she considered him a good friend and no one else she was friends with would probably ask her. Adohiro was really the only person she was this close with, and really the only person she would even consider going with. Besides, she would never reject someone unless she had a good reason to, like if she couldn't go or she already had a date which wasn't the case for either of those. If he asked her she would likely say yes.
When he came to sit across from her she smiled warmly at him. "Hello friend, it's so nice to see you again!" She said and then when he mentioned his clan members she shook her head indicating it didn't bother her. He was only a few minutes late. "Don't worry about it... Everyone runs late. I am glad you showed up. Besides I was really early anyways." She said and took a sip of her Butterbeer and made a satisfied "mmm" noise and looked at Adohiro and smiled. "Have you tried this stuff? It's called... Butterbeer I think. Being a muggle-born I hadn't heard of it before now... and man is it GOOD!" She said with a little too much enthusiasm and laughed at herself a little before taking another small sip.

"Yes, I've been here before when I was a kid. My brother had business to do and I came with him, I got to drink butter beer as an award for behaving well." Adohiro would say and he would order himself a butter beer. "Is it your first time drinking it now?" He asked her curiously. It was always strange that some of the muggles did not make inspired Butter beer. "When it was my birthday, my brother use to make his own butter beer for me. It was good, but not as good ar the original ones." Soon his order of butter beer came and he would start to drink it. It was always sweet, but he had promised his brother he would not go overboard and drink it all the time. He had always been told by his brother things should remain special to mark the touching moments such as desserts or things that were easy to access. "But I can not drink butter beer too much. I should only do it for special occasions. Because then that item would not hold any value and it would not be important at all." He said as he sipped his butterbeer.
"Umm do you want to go to the Ball with me?" He asked blushing and looking away.

Harper listened to his story about the butterbeer and nodded as it made sense. She hadn't grown up on that but she wished she did because it was really a good way to think. "I have never had it no." She said and then listened to what he had to say about his birthday and his logic about things only being on special occasions and how he enjoys them more when they are. Nikki nodded as she listened wanting him to know that she was listening and paying attention to him. "I like the idea of only having certain foods on special occasions it would definitely make you enjoy those occasions as well as the food more." She said smiling and taking a sip of her drink.
Harper had just set her drink back down and then he asks if she would like to go The Ball with him and her face turns bright red. She stared for a moment too shy to say anything but she had realized she wasn't saying anything. She quickly answered her face still bright cherry red. "Yeah... I would love to go with you." She says in a shy tone and she too looks away to hide her red face. She would really love to go with him she just took a moment to answer because she wasn't expecting him to ask and she also was super shy all of a sudden.

He smiled when she had accepted his proposal to go to the ball together. He was happy she had accepted his proposal to go to the ball. He would make sure to write a letter to his brother and brag about taking a nice girl to the dance. "Wait, do I need to ask your parents first before taking you there?" He asked wondering if he needed to act formally. "I can send them a letter if you want to." He told her wondering if that was needed. He was really unsure about it and he would lean back. It was common in his culture to ask the parents before marrying or dating, so would he need to do this to someone? Of course, it might sound weird and all, it did sound like he was trying hard and he certainly hoped not.
"But I am excited about the ball. I am not sure if it will be okay. I've always had to attend my own clan's balls and other events. There were not many kids around my age so I was always bored to tears from the adults' discussions. I was always told off." He would laugh. He also never liked wearing formal clothes, they were always uncomfortable and all. A tie and bow tie was always a pain too!

Harper was honestly glad he had asked her. She had wanted to have a date for The Ball. When he asked if he needed to ask her parents first she was a bit shocked since it wasn't part of her culture. She shook her head. "You don't have to if you don't want to." She stated. "I can send them a letter letting them know that you asked me. They should be fine with it." She said with a smile. She too was excited for The Ball especially now that she had someone to go with. "I really don't like dressing up for things most of the time." She said. "But at the same time things like this it is fun for me to dress up because I can feel all formal and grown-up." She said laughing a little. She would probably honestly try and arrange to get ready with some of her Hufflepuff friends because girls tended to get ready for things like this in big groups. She would have to send a letter to her parents requesting one of her dresses to be sent to the school since she didn't feel like getting another and she had a perfectly good dress at home. "Are we supposed to dress up for it?" She asks assuming it is a requirement but not necessary.

"I think we need to dress up for it, but I do not know. I have never liked formal events too much, I have attended too many in my childhood." He would let out a sigh. "The uniform was always stuffy and uncomfortable, I never liked it. And ties were the most annoying. My brother would always tie them a bit too tight." He would smile softly. "And I was always expected to be prim and proper to the adults who were family members most of the time or part of my brother's company. Every year I have to go with my brother to these events and be bored to tears! There is no one in my family near my age. I have a moody cousin but he's really moody." He said. His family was really strange, but he assumed most families were. Or they had that one weird aunt or cousin that no body talked about but would whisper about. He knew people talked and whispered about his missing father who was presumed dead. His brother ever really refused to tell him what happened but apparently he was kidnapped by a rival clan and probably killed by them according to his occult aunt.

Harper nodded as he had answered her question about having to dress up... or at least he answered it the best he could. "Yeah I don't mind dressing up for thinking like this but whenever my parents forced me to dress up for events that were important to them and not me then I didn't really like it." She explains. She laughs a little and looks at Adohiro. She nodded to his story. A lot of things her parents dragged her along to were the same. "Adults at formal events really are the worst though." She said and then she heard what he said about his cousin and she laughed a little. "I hear what you're saying about having the moody cousin. My cousin was always a bully. He was older and would constantly tease all us younger kids in my family." She said laughing a little looking back at it now. "Oh yeah and by the way thank you for asking me to the dance. I was really kind of hoping for someone to go with. Dances in my experience aren't as fun if you go with just your friends." She said to him. But that was just her own opinion to some people it was the opposite.

"I also heard it is a requirement to bring a date too. Since someone started a fire and all and Slytherins were beaten half to death." Adohiro said with a straight face, it certainly sounded over exaggerated and all. It was crazy! He had let out a small sigh and he would continue to observe the setting. He always hated looking people in the eye, in Asian culture, it was seen as to be aggressive. "What will you wear for the ball? I plan to wear a Korean Hanbok. So I can look different and I can stand out! It looks sort of like a dress for men, but it's really beautiful and made of real silk." he smiled. "I think it is allowed, I already asked my brother to send it to me so it should arrive before the ball hopefully. Stuff from South Korea always take forever." He smiled. Luckily he had photos of the two Korean Hanboks he had requested so he took out two post cards of it. "Here's what they look like!" He would show her the first one and the second Hanbok. "Which one do you like? I personally like the first one, the color is pretty." He would smiled at her.
