A Heartfelt Goodbye  Solo   Finished
For Callie the wait for the sun to rise over the London skyline was a long and arduous one. After weeks of excitement and speculation today was finally the day that she'd get to set off on her latest adventure in Hogwarts, which had caused the girl to be more hyperactive than usual. After all she'd already spent a week or so travelling with her parents, who insisted that they all visit family in the south of England before Callie was whisked away to what her extended family thought was a secret all girls boarding school. Withholding the truth as she bounced from house to house visiting aunts, uncles and cousins was difficult and took all her strength to keep from blurting out the truth of the matter. Although her weeks of keeping her lips zipped shut were finally coming to a close as Callie, her parents and older brother drove towards the train station.

"Are we there yet! Are we there yet?" Callie exclaimed to her father whilst rocking back and forth on the seat with excitement. Much to her brother's annoyance, ever since arriving in London the day prior Callie hadn't ceased to stop babbling about everything she'd read about Hogwarts and today such rambling had gotten significantly worse. Her parents on the other hand seemed to encourage her ramblings, revelling in their daughters excitement. "Oooh, look at that thing!" Callie suddenly called out as she had done for most of the morning, usually pointing out buildings she found to be interesting looking.

"Callie darling, your head is going to explode if you keep yelling so loudly.." Her mother replied with a soothing tone, having grown tired of the eleven year old's staggered yells of excitement. "Besides, we're nearly there! Save your excitement for the train, darling."

Before Callie could reply her gaze was caught by the train station pulling into view and it wasn't long before the entire family was helping her unload the suitcase from the trunk. "Are you sure you can't come in with me?" Callie asked quietly, in stark contrast to her excited yelling in the car. "I might get lost!"

"This is something you've gotta do on your own flower! You're gonna be brave and strong for me, right?" Callie's father reassured the child with a comforting pat to the shoulder, crouching down to meet her eye level. "You remember what you promised us, don't you?"

"Of course I do! I'm going to be myself no matter what and be brave!" Callie replied quickly, rocking back and forth on her feet as she spoke.

"You're forgetting something, cupcake..." Her mother chimed in with a soft smile across her features.

"And remember to send you a letter every so often?" Callie guessed, not entirely sure what her mother was trying to get at.

"No silly, you've got to give us a hug before you leave. Although I do want a letter from you!" Callie's mother opened her arms wide only for Callie to immediately run towards her. Callie nestled her face into her mother's chest as she wrapped her arms tightly around the woman, only for her father and brother to join in on a group hug of sorts. In the midst of the display of affection, quiet sobbing could be heard from the young girl in the centre of it all. This prompted her mother to pull Callie back and wipe the girl's eyes with a sympathetic smile.

"I'm going to miss you." Callie mumbled quietly before sniffling.

"Us too darling..come on you're going to be late!" Callie's father passed her the suitcase and attempted to rush her towards the train station before he started crying as well. Instead of allowing himself to shed a tear, he rustled his moustache slightly.

"Oh no you're right!" Callie exclaimed with wide eyes and quickly hugged her mother, father and brother before taking the case into her hands. "Bye!" She called out whilst waving to the group by the car, nearly running headfirst into a lamppost in the process. Eventually Callie made her way into the station and onto Platform 9 3/4, starting her latest foray into the unknown.
