Anastasia Beckett had an unhealthy love of fire. She didn't consider it unhealthy. She just was fascinated with it. It was something so fundamental to human life and evolution, and yet it was devastating to people at the same time. It was rather like magic was for wizards. Sure, it was dangerous if used irresponsibly, but it could do quite a bit of good as well. She was well aware that she sounded like an insane person, which was why she opted to keep these thoughts to herself.

She generally focused on the destructive powers of fire when she used Firemaking spells, but it was nice to think of the other things it could do. Not that she would ever use it for anything other than setting things (and occasionally people) on fire. That was the main reason she was practicing Incendio Duo in the Study Room that day. Somehow, she doubted that the occupants of the library would take very kindly to her practicing fire-making spells there. Anyway, she liked the library too much to risk damaging it. Unlike the Study Room, which she found far too cramped and badly decorated. She didn't much care if she accidentally destroyed a few things there. There were also a lot fewer people there for her to risk setting on fire. She had managed to set 2 different people on fire in the past few weeks, and she was trying to avoid that. Technically, it was 2, although she had set one of them on fire on two different occasions, so she wasn't sure exactly how she was supposed to count that.

It was frankly a miracle that she hadn't gotten into trouble for her hot ways since she was mildly certain that at least 2 of the occasions was technically arson and possibly a felony. She was planning on laying low for a bit and avoiding setting things on fire, but that rarely worked like it was supposed to.

Biting her lip, she focused on the bit of paper she was practicing on. She was trying to control the fires she set a bit better, since most of the time, she would make massive fires and lose control of them. "Incendio Duo!" she said confidently and clearly. Apparently too confidently, because a colossal stream of flames leaped from her wand. If that wasn't enough, it somehow bounced back at her. How did fire even bounce?!? She supposed it was a magical thing. Oh, crap, she still had to duck. She hit the floor, just hoping that there wasn't anyone behind her because if there was, there was a nearly 100% chance that they were now being broiled.
