A Clash In The Halls
OOC: Anyone can join this thread! It's just a fun little prompt to start an entertaining transaction, and hey! Maybe we could even be freindsElzabeths day had been like one giant chapter out of a Limminy Snigett book. Noting was going right at the moment and it was taking a toll on Elzabeths already iffy mental state.
She hadn't slept the night before due to one of her notorious insomnia attacks, she completely forgot about her Potions homework which earned her a lecture from Professor Price, then she missed lunch because of the makeup work she had convinced Professor Price to give her, after that she went through the rest of her classes Hangrey and tired. Now all she wanted was to find some food and spend time with her friends but she couldn't even do that.
To top it all off she had gotten the news that her father had fallen sick and was being treated at St.Mungos.
A large ball of frustration was building and Elzabeth needed to find a quiet place to let it all out or she was going to explode.
Just as she was rounding the corner she collided into something, or rather someone. Being tiny and weighing almost nothing didn't help her situation at all. Elzabeth went to the floor, landing on the harsh stone with a yelp and a word her mom would not be proud of.
The bookbag the young Ravenclaw was carrying around fell on its side, spilling out all of her homework and textbooks. Seeing the mess made something in her snap.
Seething with rage at her situation and the person who had caused this she looked up, ready to pounce.
"What the hell?! Watch where you're going asshole." She didn't even realize what she had said but at the moment it seemed reasonable.

A Clash In The Halls
Ana was scurrying through the corridors, completely lost in thought. After a few distractions during the past months, she had a lot of plotting and scheming to do to keep up with her escape plan. Again and again, she recalled the bullet-point list which she had set up some time during her very first days at the wizarding school. Maybe there was actually a reason for her to have been Sorted into Ravenclaw despite it being far from what the young girl had expected - intelligent people were kind of organized, weren't they? Additionally, she had even memorized the plan, which made the crumpled piece of paper in her hand completely unnecessary as Ana muttered the words on it to herself. It made her comfortable though, that feeling of a physical aid, a straw she could clutch at.It was simple. In a few days, she would be gone, back home with the people she loved. Leaving this wretched place behind forever.- Leave dormitory, make sure not to get caught
- break into shed where the brooms are stored (practice Alohomora spell in advance!)
- steal broom
- fly home
- reunite with Laila
A thump that sent her falling backwards with flailing arms brought her back into the present. She winced as her back hit the stone tiles. Hard. Biting her bottom lip, Ana squeezed her eyes together, holding back the tears that were slowly forming in them.
However, the pain faded into the background as she realized that her hands were empty. Agonizing fear shot through her as she groped around on the floor of the corridor in panic, Lifting her head, she saw a Ravenclaw about her size, also lying on the ground, the contents of her bag all over the floor. Schoolbooks and pages full of scribbled handwriting. What if the girl mistook Ana's list for one of her own pages? Her attempt to flee would be over before it had even properly begun.
As the student she'd collided with got to her feet, it quickly became clear that she was not the least interested in the piece of paper Ana had dropped. "What the hell?! Watch where you're going, asshole.", she cussed at Ana in a shrill, angry voice. On that, Ana quickly scrambled to her feet. What was that girl thinking? In no way whatsoever did she have the right to insult her like that. This kind of behaviour certainly didn't mix well with Ana's boldness and explosive temper. "Fuck you", she shouted, a blazing look in her eyes. "Who do you think you are? Going 'round hurling insults at people like it wasn't your fault?" With that, she reached out and slapped the girl.
Hard.
Right across the face.

Serena was having a pretty decent day. The sun had finally decided to come out, all her classes went well, and her favorite food was served at lunch today. Now, the badger was skipping down the corridor to the library to finish up schoolwork and maybe do some reading.
However, her skipping came to a halt when she saw two girls collide, sending them both to the floor. One of them had even had their backpack spill open, leaving all of its' contents everywhere. Serena winced. That had to hurt. She was about to go see if the two were alright and help gather everything when she heard their interaction.
Well, that wasn't very nice, but Serena could understand the frustration. But then the other girl spoke up."What the hell?! Watch where you're going, asshole."
Such foul language! And these girls seemed to be around the same age as her! But Serena couldn't have anticipated what happened next. The girl slapped her! For no good reason! The first-year looked around for a Professor, Head of House, or heck, even a Prefect. But Serena couldn't see anyone else in the corridor."Fuck you. Who do you think you are? Going 'round hurling insults at people like it wasn't your fault?"
Well, she guessed it was down to her to step in. Before the situation got worse. At least until someone with more authority could step in. Serena walked up to the two girls.
"Hey! While what she said wasn't exactly nice, that slap was uncalled for!" She called out. "Now, are you both alright? That looked like it hurt…" Serena addressed both girls.
She then bent down to start gathering the various textbooks and other sheets of paper that had fallen during the collision.

[quote]Lydia was almost starting to get the hang of her new school. Almost. The only thing she really had the hang of was potions; other than that, she felt completely lost and completely homesick and tired.
The first year could practically feel a little cloud of self pity starting to brew above her head as she dragged herself back to the Ravenclaw common room, ready to hurl herself at her pillow and take a nap. But then there was some kind of commotion up ahead; and a few "fuck"'s in the midst of it all? Her bed wasn't nearly as interesting as whatever was going on up ahead.
She quickened her pace; if there was a fight going on, Lydia wanted to have a peek before some prefect showed up to break things up.
"Hey! While what she said wasn't exactly nice, that slap was uncalled for!"
"Now, are you both alright? That looked like it hurt…"
Hughes was just in time to see the Hufflepuff girl scold the two. Who'd slapped who? Was it really bad? What had even happened? Now that she was actually at the "action site" she suddenly didn't really want to be there anymore; it felt a bit too real. Luckily it looked like they weren't actively going at each others throats.
"Damn." the girl let out in a quiet exhale to herself as she approached the three.
"What the hell happened?" Lydia pressed, voice raised enough to sound sharp and unwelcome compared to the Hufflepuff's more caring approach.

A Clash In The Halls
In an effort to kill time between the things she had to do and classes, Maria once again went to her spot in the corridor where she could read (or at least pretend to read) and observe people at the same time. It was by the window in between the middle of the corridor. She could remain inconspicuous but still see most of what was happening. The old habit had become her favorite pass time since she arrived at Hogwarts. Everything was just so new, and people here were a different from what she was used to back home. She was also still trying to learn how things worked and getting used to living here. It was all just so much at once, sometimes she would get that worried feeling in her chest. She took a deep breath just like her dad taught her to and it somehow helped her calm down. With another one she resumed her people watching.
In the few minutes she spent in her spot she saw a few things. Students rushing to their dorms, couples trying to be sweet in the hallway and even an older boy who seemed to have his uniform on backwards! She snickered to herself when he rushed by.
The next thing she noticed was a small, blonde Ravenclaw girl who looked frustrated, a bit miffed, and rather upset. “Must have had a bad day.” She surmised. Deciding that maybe she too should call it a day, Maria pushed off the wall she was leaning against and her way back to her dorm.
The next thing she knew she heard the sound of parchment flying everywhere with a thud and someone yelled
SLAP! The sound of the girl’s hand on the blond girl’s cheek was the next thing she heard.
At this point, she was debating on whether she should call a prefect or help her fellow badger. But she took a moment to observe both girls she did anything in case her housemate might need help if they hadn’t calmed down.

“Oh, that can’t be good.” She muttered to herself. Running to the corner she saw the blonde haired girl and another Ravenclaw girl with dark curly hair."What the hell?! Watch where you're going, asshole."
Maria winced at her choice of words."Fuck you. Who do you think you are? Going 'round hurling insults at people like it wasn't your fault?"
SLAP! The sound of the girl’s hand on the blond girl’s cheek was the next thing she heard.
Maria had noticed that another Hufflepuff girl (she remembered she was on the Quidditch team) had also stopped and had now started to pick up the papers on the floor."Hey! While what she said wasn't exactly nice, that slap was uncalled for! Now, are you both alright? That looked like it hurt…"

A third Ravenclaw girl had approached them also asking what was wrong, her approach entirely different to the first girl’s . It seemed like the pair was getting a lot pf attention."What the hell happened?"

Ana stood there, her chest heaving, adrenaline flooding her body. Her slapping the girl had been unexpected even for herself - usually, Ana did not resort to physical violence. Not at all. She was known for her sharp and sometimes painfully honest choice of words, but she had never slapped anyone before - well, not on purpose. She could be clumsy sometimes.Interactions: @Maria Dee @Elzabeth Gillan @Lydia Hughes @Serena Bowen
Still, along with the surprise and shock, she felt a strong feeling of anger rising up. She had not been watching out for anyone coming around the corner, that was true, and she would have admitted it happily. But the blonde Ravenclaw calling her an asshole had been too much - she had obviously not paid attention either, this accident was her fault too, and she had no right at all to go insulting people.
Two completely opposing sentiments were warring in Ana's mind. She did feel sorry for what she had done. It had been wrong to slap the girl. Despite her angry words, she did not deserve that. On the other hand, when Ana looked at her, the condescending, shrill voice hurling an insult at her echoed in her head, making her want to hit the student again.
That second feeling she resisted. As her temper slowly cooled down, she realized that more girls had joined them in the corridor, seemingly shocked, crowding around them. A first-year Hufflepuff was the first to approach. "Hey! While what she said wasn't exactly nice, that slap was uncalled for!" Ana felt the anger return. This wasn't any of the girl's business. Who was she to judge her actions? Ana opened her mouth to talk back, but the Hufflepuff continued, now in a softer tone. "Now, are you both alright? That looked like it hurt…" Only then did Ana notice the fading sting in her palm from where it had hit the other Ravenclaw's face. She winced, shaking her hand. "I'm fine", she said, grimacing, as the girl bent down to pick up the textbooks and pages littered all over the floor. Ana stared at them in horror - because there it was, the list, the plan, her chance to get out of Hogwarts and back to her parents, her best friends. Her crush, Laila. It had been all she had been thinking about since the beginning of the school year - and now, by simply picking up the list, reading it and reporting her to a Professor, this Hufflepuff could ruin all the preparations she had made. The small Ravenclaw quickly went through her options - picking up the piece of paper would mean her finally regaining possession of it, yet she'd also draw attention to herself by doing so. Hoping for the Hufflepuff girl not to notice it was simply naive. Maybe the Hufflepuff would slip it into the bookbag of the girl whom Ana had slapped without taking a closer look at it; then Ana might have the chance to take the bullet-point list back later before the rude Ravenclaw noticed it in there.
Before she was able to decide on an option, another Ravenclaw approached, interrupting her thoughts. After mumbling something to herself which sounded like "Damn", she addressed the Hufflepuff still busy with the pile of books and homework on the ground, the rude girl and Ana directly, her voice much clearer now, with a certain sense of hostility in it. Ana immediately thought of it as sharp as cut glass. "What the hell happened?", she asked.
Whereas the thing the Hufflepuff had most cared about was whether both of them were well, this girl certainly wouldn't be as soft on the two. Ana couldn't spot a Prefect's badge anywhere - maybe she was too young for that - but the newly approached Ravenclaw definitely acted like one. Ana wasn't sure if she should be impressed by her apparent confidence or annoyed upon witnessing a first-year like herself displaying such behaviour.
Remembering that the prefect-like girl had asked a question, Ana hurried to answer. "She insulted me - I hadn't really done anything, it was an accident, we knocked into each other on the corridor. Then she got all pissed - uh, annoyed - and called me an asshole, so, well, I got angry." Still feeling somewhat hostile towards her, the first-year could not resist to add a sharp "I think that's quite understandable when being confronted with such rudeness" with a quick toss of her head including the massive Afro on top. This addition probably wasn't the most intelligent one - maybe thinking she belonged in Ravenclaw just because of making lists and itineraries, like she had just before this whole... incident, was dumb after all - nor had Ana been reflected enough before blurting out with this "defense" to realize that she had been just as rude, if not more. Still, it had been the other Ravenclaw who'd started!- oh, for God's sake, she was sounding like a toddler. Ana released a quiet little sigh in exasperation.
From the corner of her eye, she noticed a second Hufflepuff approaching. Having almost fully calmed down, Ana patiently waited for her to also give her opinion on the subject or starting to worry about the two girls. However, the Hufflepuff remained mute, much to her surprise.

@Ana Fox @Maria Dee @Lydia Hughes @Serena BowenIt all was happening so quickly, one second she was staring the girl down and the next her cheek exploded in pain. Tears sprouted before Elizabeth could even stop them. She had never been slapped before, not seemingly out of the blue like this.
Several more people stopped by in the commotion, their faces either worried or amused. Elzabeths hand went up to her cheek where her skin was warm not only from the assault but from the shame. She had never outright been rude to someone before and because she was, this is what she got.
Elzabeth ignored everyone's questions and started to pick her things back up, throwing them into her bag. The only thing keeping Elzabeth from tackling the girl in front of her was the reasonable voice in her head that only seemed to be getting fainter with each word someone said.
Just as Elzabeth was ready to snap, she looked down at a note she immediately knew was not hers. What an odd list, it was completely foolish whoever made it.
Elzabeth snapped her head back up, crumpling the paper in her hands. "You are nieve if you think smacking someone is the right way to handle an unkind word. I'm truly sorry your feelings got hurt and you felt the need to take it out on another." Elzabeths words dripped like venom. She felt a tear give away and she angrily wiped at it, there was nothing worse than angry crying."I think that's quite understandable when being confronted with such rudeness"
It was beyond unlike her to be this rude but at this point, the girl had gotten under her skin. "You're lucky I have some self-control, unlike some of us." Elzabeth bent down, taking the last of her things along with the list. It wasn't her handwriting nor any of her friends which meant it belonged to the other girl. Who was Laila?

The Ravenclaw with the curly hair seemed to notice Maria approach. ”Well, so much for not getting involved.” She sensed that the two girls had somewhat calmed and saw that her housemate had finished helping the blond girl pick up her things. Other students had also gathered around the pair and the slapped girl held her cheek and a piece of paper in the other. They weren’t trying to hurt each other but there was still tension in the air.
The other Ravenclaw quickly retaliated.
“What happened here,” She interrupted in a loud voice. “was an accident,” she looked at the blonde girl first “that just got out of hand.” This time she turned to the curly haired girl. “SO PEOPLE SHOULD JUST CARRY ON WITH WHAT THEY WERE DOING.” This time addressing the small crowd that had formed around them. People got the message and went back to their own business. “And I think the two of you should take a deep breath before a prefect comes and starts handing out detentions.” She pressed. “Right?” This time turning to the other Hufflepuff who broke up the fight. She then turned to the other Ravenclaw, silently pleading for her to help ease the situation.
The blonde girl started. She looked like she was on the verge of tears and crumpled the piece of paper in her hands"I think that's quite understandable when being confronted with such rudeness"
She continued."You are nieve if you think smacking someone is the right way to handle an unkind word. I'm truly sorry your feelings got hurt and you felt the need to take it out on another."

“Well, I guess now would be a good time to intervene.” She thought."She insulted me - I hadn't really done anything, it was an accident, we knocked into each other on the corridor. "You are naive if you think smacking someone is the right way to handle an unkind word. I'm truly sorry your feelings got hurt and you felt the need to take it out on another." Usually, Ana would have been quick to give a sharp retort. Now, however, she stood there with eyes wide open in shock, her breathing accelerating until it was on the verge of hyperventilation. Completely petrified. All she could look at was the list, right there, in the other girl's hand, eyes darting over it, taking in the words.Interactions: @Maria Dee @Elzabeth Gillan @Lydia Hughes @Serena Bowen
Just as she moved her hand to grab the crumpled piece of paper, a dark-haired girl stepped forward to intervene, a Hufflepuff, judging by her robes. “What happened here was an accident, that just got out of hand.” The Hufflepuff having addressed the blonde girl before, Ana was startled when she turned to her on saying these last words. “SO PEOPLE SHOULD JUST CARRY ON WITH WHAT THEY WERE DOING.” Her voice, already the loudest of them, became even more intense as she turned to the bystanders who had come to watch, forming a small crowd. Intimidated by the Hufflepuff, they immediately dispersed. She knows. She knows. And she hates me... she'd have no problem with handing this to a teacher... all of it could be over... I need to get it back!
“And I think the two of you should take a deep breath before a prefect comes and starts handing out detentions.”, the second Hufflepuff continued. "I don't care", Ana retorted angrily. Detentions were the one thing she really didn't care about at all right now. No matter how, she had to get back the list, and she had a feeling that calm argumentation would be fruitless with this girl, taking into consideration how both of them had behaved earlier. If she had to get a detention for taking back what was hers, so be it.
"Give me that!", now directed at the girl who was still holding Ana's list, smugly crumpling it up in her hand. Her voice was something between a scream and a snarl, rage and panic combined. Did she sound crazy? Maybe. But it might intimidate the girl, and then Ana would have the chance to snatch the list... so she hoped.

A Clash In The Halls
William was slowly walking down the hall. His day had been long and he only hoped to get to his common room. His eyes were trained the floor and his thoughts were trained on the latest letter he would send his parents. He only wished they would be home when the owl would arrive or it would be awkward. Sometimes, William missed the simplicity of emails and text messages.
An incomprehensible shout alerted him. Turning the corner, he was met with absolutely no one going the other way. Weird for the time. Intrigued with what could possibly be the cause, William quickened his pace to reach the epicenter of the problem. Girls from Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff seemed to huddle together towards the next corner. People around were gawking at them, He recognized Elzabeth in the middle and let a smirk curve his face.
As he got closer, he could hear the hisses and angry voices of the girls. He hesitated a second, definitely not a friendly gathering. Drama was not his thing but curiosity won over his rationality. He picked up his pace, examining each of the girls who seemed to be at the center of the quarrel. Looking at Elzabeth harshly was a curly haired Ravenclaw girl. She looked like she wanted to grab something from her adversary's hand. Desperately. Protectively. A brunette also seemed pretty involved in the fight, going as yelling even louder then she had previously been.
He continued to observe before getting in the fray. Better have all the facts before forging an opinion. Whatever had transpired was still unknown, everyone there seemed angry enough to snap at any willing to get between them. A smug grin on one side and an angry glare from the other. The three bystanders seemed out of their wits to William. He wanted to laugh at the situation. He hid his mocking smile behind a hand, leaning on the other side of the hall. William waited for the best time to intervene.
It wasn't long until the Ravenclaw snarled not unlike an enraged dog. She looked a bit deranged if William was completely honest. He advanced on them and asked arrogantly, "What happened here ?General rudeness, let me guess. Maybe a bit of protectiveness, yes?"
