Stepping into the train. Lydia walked slowly down the aisles. Poking her head into the different apartments. she contemplated how these would be the people that she would be living with for seven years of her life. Most of them seemed to be filled. Friends reconnecting, first years awkwardly looking at their new companions. She finally decided to go into an empty compartment, not wanting to intrude on a private conversation or stumbling into an argument.

Finding a compartment that fits her needs, she gingerly and precariously lifted her trunk overhead onto the luggage net over her head. Sitting down on the seat next to the window. Lydia looked out and thought about her family making their way back to the apparition point that would send back to their home in Canterbury.

She would miss her little brother and her parents, helping out in her parent's shop, learning what each potion and plant did. But she was also looking forward to being able to learn and make friends her own age.

She picked through her messenger bag looking for the book she got for the trip here. Pulling out Magical Water Plants of the Highland Lochs, she settled into reading her worries away.

Morris had just arrived at King's Cross and he was already very impressed with what he saw around him: parents who were looking for their child because he did not have his soft toy or someone who was crying in saying goodbye to her husband ... The young schoolboy had never set foot in this station even on the Muggle side but he suspected that that of the path that led to Hogwarts, his new home, was even more impressive.

His mother could not come, the young boy had to manage on his own but by a happy coincidence, a third year had precipitately explained to him how to get to the quay. Morris was walking on tracks 9 and 10 when he saw a wall not too exposed to the glance of the muggles and he sank in it running despite his rising fear "Will I succeed ??" And ... yes it's good !! He managed to arrive on time and without incident.

Pushing the cart that contained his trunk and the cage of his rat, Morris advanced without being able to take his eyes off the magnificent red steam train which had taken and brought the pupils back to school for quite a few years if we were to believe it. History of Hogwarts (book he had hastened to read before leaving). Around him, owls were flying, frogs were trying to escape from their cage while croaking, but what pleased the boy most was to see how proud the parents of the other students seemed to see their child following trace them and go to Hogwarts all alone.

"Okay," he said to himself, "now you have to find a place in an empty compartment to settle down quietly." But it was easier said than done because people were pushing him, some had even almost dropped his pet. Finally, after several minutes of effort, he finally finds a place in the last wagon with a young girl, all hesitant to get on.

Morris took his place and put his big suitcase in the luggage net above him, then he looked at the girl and said simply:

"Hello, my name is Morris, and you? ... "

While reading her book, Lydia listens to students going back and forth across the train. Occasionally looking out the window next to her, she wonders if she will find any of the plants that she is reading about. She again ponders what her family must be doing at home. Her mind racing from thinking about Hogwarts and how her life will be like for the next few months and her family that she won't be seeing until months from now. This being her first time spending a large amount of time away from her parents has her nervous for the days ahead.

Lydia looked up as someone entered her compartment. Closing her book slightly, she didn't want to appear rude, she looked up at the boy and smiled.
"Hello, my name is Morris, and you? ... "
"Lydia Lestat, nice to meet you, are you a First-year too?" She eagerly responded. Now don't be overeager Lydia. She thinks to herself. Try not to seem too overbearing. Being raised and surrounded by adults for most of her life. It has made it difficult to know how to make friends with people around her age. Although this may be true she was still looking forward to spending her time with all of her future classmates.

Morris watched the landscape before him. He who already had a lot of things at home, found this beautiful landscape. The lake, the mountains and many other things were beautiful to him.

"Lydia Lestat, nice to meet you, are you a First-year too?"

When Lydia spoke again, Morris turned his head slightly to have her in his field of vision. He listened to her and then said,

" That's right, I'm a first year also."

Lydia was the first person Morris had met since he left home. He hoped Lydia was someone enough calm with whom he could get along well. But in any case, Morris thought that he would spend most of his time alone in Hogwarts. Lydia began to speak again and Morris listened to her then began to speak too:

"I spend most of my time listening to music and reading books. I play the guitar or I draw. "

When he said that Morris realized that despite being part of a family and having almost anything he wanted, he didn't do much of his free time. Lydia continued talking Morris thought a little about what he was going to say and what Lydia had said before, then said,

"I have no idea in which house I think I am. I guess we will see at Hogwarts. And what do you think you are in? "

Lydia glanced at Morris when he spoke up again.
"I spend most of my time listening to music and reading books. I play the guitar or I draw. "

"What do you like to draw?"
She asked, slipped her book back into her bag giving more of her attention to Morris.
Drawing was something she wished she was good at but never seemed to have the patience to be able to improve on it.
"I only play the piano." She said. Her mother had wanted her to be able to play an instrument saying that she should have a skill that could be perfected without magic.
"I have no idea in which house I think I am. I guess we will see at Hogwarts. And what do you think you are in?"
Lydia looked over to Morris, tilting her head in thought.
"I hope Slytherin or Hufflepuff, like my parents you see, but Ravenclaw would also be great," Lydia responded glancing at her lap where her messenger bag was. The Sorting was one of the most talked-about topics at her house for the last few days. All of her family bickering about what house she would be in.
"Although I would hope that it is not Gryffindor." She said amusedly. Her family's view on Gryffindor House was rather unflattering, having disagreed with some of the rather famous members handling of certain situations.

"What sort of music do you listen to?" Lydia asked having thought some more of what he had mentioned that he liked doing.

Toni, after leaving the compartment walked up and down the aisle, looking for a better place to sit. She hoped the next compartment would be less of a catastrophe...She felt bad about leaving that boy alone with those two rotten girls, but there didn't seem to be much she could do. There was a great deal left of the train ride, and Toni though she might die if she sat there listening to the spiteful remarks of that girl who seemed destined for Slytherin...

After a few minutes of peaking into compartments while trying not to seem creepy, she came across a compartment that held a girl and boy who looked to be about her age engaging in mild conversation. She studied their faces a moment, trying to read their moods. The last thing she needed was to enter another hostile compartment. After a moment Toni knocked on the glass, and slid the compartment door open.

"Hi, d'ya mind if I join you?" Toni spoke up, feeling guilty for interrupting but not knowing what else she could do. Her anxiousness increased as she stood there, feeling the slight swaying of the train and it raced towards the highlands of Scotland.

Lydia looked up when the door to the compartment opened revealing a girl that looked about their age.
The girl looked rather nervous standing there in the doorway of the compartment.
"Hi, d'ya mind if I join you?"
" I don't mind," She replied as she patted the seat next to her. Lydia had almost feared for a moment that maybe she would be alone on the train. She was very glad to have been proven wrong
" That is if Morris is okay, with it." She said as she looked over to Morris. She hoped he would be alright with the new member. In addition to this, he did seem like he had picked this compartment wanting not to be bothered too much.

" My name is Lydia Lestat." She introduced herself.
She wondered why the girl had arrived at their compartment after a good amount of time since they had left the station. Although thinking about the conversations that she had passed on her way to this compartment, she guessed it shouldn't be that much of surprise.

" We were talking about what House we hoped to be in," Lydia said pulling the girl into the conversation." What house are you hoping to get into?"

Following an intense conversation with her parents - her mother was desperately trying to educate her and her father on what exactly the Hogwarts houses were - Lydia barely got on the train in time. Now she was loudly making her way through the carriage, becoming increasingly desperate to find an open compartment whilst trying to balance her trunk, cello case and self.

"My name is Lydia Lestat."

The words carried lightly from behind her, and Liddy just had to take the chance - if this other Lydia's compartment was already full, they'd be well past introductions by now! It took a moment for her to shuffle back around with her heavy baggage, but soon she was back at the compartment almost filled with what appeared to be 3 other first years.

"No kidding, another Lydia? Isn't that great!" the girl blurted with a definite Scottish accent. A wide smile played over her freckled face as Lydia poked her head out over Toni's shoulder.

She tried her best to ignore the butterflies in her stomach; now that she was face to face with the people she would be spending the next few years with, everything seemed a little more daunting. Her mother would probably suggest being a bit more polite.

"I'm Lydia, by the way," she said, a slight awkward lilt to her voice. "It's good to meet you guys. Is there... still a space open?"

Ana was late for the train. She had spent the voyage to London alternatedly crying and arguing, talking about Laila and all the things she loved about Dublin in that rapid, loud voice that was typical for the eleven-year old. Today, it had been somewhat more fast and high-pitched, close to frantic, volume increasing as they had gotten closer to King's Cross station.
"Please, Ana, be quiet, will you? You'll get used to it. It'll be nice! You know how quick you are to find friends. Don't be so upset. Ana..."
"I don't want any new friends! I had friends in Dublin, I had Laila..."
At this point she paused, not wanting to give away her secret - that Laila was not only Ana's best friend, but also her crush, or, as Ana herself would have put it, the love of her life.
"Please, Mama, I can learn to control this magic myself - I don't need to go to Scotland..."
"Come on, the nice man from Hogwarts" - Ana's mother was struggling to pronounce the name her tongue was not yet used to - "told us that was almost impossible-"
"Almost!"
"-it'll be a great time for you, you'll learn so many new things! As a little girl, I always dreamed of being able to do magic!"
"And would you have given up everyone you loved for that?"
The old-fashioned train in front of Ana gave a piercing whistle, white smoke enveloping the red and gold painted carriages, the sharp noise pulling her back into the present. Standing at a station with a number every "normal" human would have deemed impossible, surrounded by screeching owls, huge leather suitcases, among which her own bright yellow plastic trolley looked out of place, and people with actual wands in their hands running around calling to each other. Despite all this, she had dried tears on her face, the light brown skin encrusted with salt. Ana hadn't asked to be here, wanted to get back home to her parents, her friends, to Laila more than anything. She thought about running away. Running back through the stone wall, taking a taxi, getting onto a flight somehow. Somehow, however, Ana still managed to get herself to think sensibly. Travelling from London to Dublin as an eleven-year old girl with the appearance of a nine- or ten-year-old and only two euros in her pockets was very, very close to impossible. She'd stick to the original plan. Sighing to herself, wiping the tear stains from her skin with a fierce hand movement, Ana reluctantly stepped onto the train, expertly turning to the side to prevent her case from wedging in the door. Once she was inside the Hogwarts Express, the young girl wandered around aimlessly, poking her head into a few compartments, but realizing all of them were full, students making themselves comfortable on the soft red seats, chatting to their friends and new acquaintances, stuffing suitcases packed full to the brim into the overhead containers or munching on sweets. Finally, Ana came to notice a compartment with only four people inside who looked about her age. On listening to their chatter for a moment, she realized that she had arrived in the middle of a sentence. "...space open?" she heard a female voice say in a Scottish accent, apparently asking the other three students to allow her to join them. Taking her chance, Ana pulled her brightly coloured suitcase closer to herself and stepped forward so that she was standing next to the girl. "Hey", she said calmly, raising a hand and dropping it onto her case again in some sort of greeting. "My name's Ana. How about you?" Ana let her gaze wander, surveying the three students already resting on the comfortable seats: a pale, slightly freckled boy, with blonde hair bordering on white, a plain brown-haired girl and a smiling female with thick black braids, her being the one who fascinated the eleven-year-old most. "I really like your braids! Them beads you've got on them are cool. Can I sit here? All the other compartments I've looked into seem to be full, and you lot look nice." She smiled for a moment, before a thought suddenly crossed her mind. What was she doing chatting up that witch? She looked so... happy, agreeable. She was probably looking forward to Hogwarts, whereas Ana was sure that she wouldn't stay at the wizarding school for too long. She had a plan. She didn't need to make any friends there - she'd be back home soon, reunited with her family. With Laila.
Quickly, she turned the smile into a frown, before changing to a somewhat indifferent expression as she felt a frown didn't really make too much sense in this situation - and after all, she wanted to sit down somewhere. Who knew how long this journey was going to take.

Toni smiled down at the girl, tension beginning to leave her.  This compartment seems to be a lot more relaxed than my previous one  Toni thought as she fully entered the compartment, taking a seat next to the girl, Lydia, who had invited her.

"Ah'm Toni, an' I mos' definitely will be a Ravenclaw. Mah whole fam'ly is, so Ah could'nae really be anythin' else." She drawled, leaning back into the cushioned bench.  "Wha' abou' you?" Toni asked quizzically, interested in these people who could potentially be her friends.

As soon as the question left her lips, the compartment door slid open again, revealing an excited looking red headed girl gawking at them all.

"No kidding, another Lydia? Isn't that great!
Toni stared up at the girl, a bit taken aback by the combination of her loud voice and sudden entrance. "Ah take i', yoor name is Lydia too?" Toni chuckled, amused by the aura this girl emanated. She also caught on to the thicker Scottish accent that forced it's way through the new Lydia's speech.  Toni's smirk took on a mischievous glow.

"No' from 'round here are we?" Toni teased the girl, from one Scot to another. The new Lydia didn't even get a chance to respond before another girl popped her head into the compartment, having to stick her head in at an odd angle to be visible around Lydia the Scot.

"My name's Ana. How about you?"

Taken aback by how quickly the number in the compartment was growing, Toni began to wonder if everyone would even fit. Hopefully no one else shows up... Toni wished, but nevertheless she smiled at the new, new girl Ana. "Ah'm Toni, it's nice tah meet ya." Toni greeted.  "Well you're quite tha ou'goin' one aye? Didnae even le' Lydia enter the compar'men'." Toni joked warmly, attempting to make the girl feel more welcome. As she waited for Lydia (the original one) to respond to what just occurred, Toni kept peeking into the hall, looking to see if anyone else would try to squeeze their way in.
