I'm doing some backdated threads btw that are not BaiKim.

Because BaiKim were not as close as they are now back then

Regardless of what you read, Kim has never really been interested in/gotten extremely close to anyone other than 2 people during his time at Hogwarts.

You know... Kim was with... two other people before he and Ai got really close as besties.

1st person - not really 'with' so much as was interested in and couldn't admit it to anyone...
2nd person - was 'with' them but didn't have romantic feelings for... or so he thought...
