Maybe eventually, most items will have an (eventual) use. What they will be, no clue! But there will be uses more than likely someday.

I stated this in Hogwarts-Help but as it was not so much as question as it was feedback, I figured I would post it here.

I will preface this by saying I have no issue with a certain amount of subjectivity from teachers, and I don't think every O should be easy to earn , all I'm suggesting, is to have a certain form of uniformity, every "grade" have a percentage equivalent. Professors could then decide how to cast their points, and grade accordingly, but it would streamline an O being an O everywhere.

i.e. 92% and higher is an O
A professor grading on 25 scale, can allot points for creativity, depth, etc, that's their own prerogative, the end result would then give whatever letter is associated with the grade.

I love the classes, I have nothing against any one professor. I'm just offering a method that helps ensure a continuity which then applies to OWLs and NEWTs to come in a few years.

Lamik Fillestar wrote: 31 May 2019, 23:00 This suggestion comes from a discussion on the Gryffindor channel on discord. When talking about the fact that the site is actually great and how sad we would be if it were to have to shut down for some particular reason, we Gryffindors suddenly realized that a website like this probably requires quite a bit of money to keep running. Though we didn't know who funds the site, we knew that funding a project with a 0% return is always an issue- no matter how much money you have in the first place.

One of the things that best put this website apart from others of similar nature is that unlike some (for example World of Potter), HIO doesnt have any microtransactions that give you any benefits- cosmetic or otherwise. Because of this, we all agreed to suggest that Hogwarts.IO get its own Patreon. This would give people who have the money and are very dedicated to the website a chance to support it as they see fit, while also taking a bit of financial pressure off of whoever is in charge of funding in the first place.
Hello,

And thank you!

I am very opposed to any advertising, microtransaction, or payment that would distort the game. I want the site to stay completely away from any commercial notion, and that's why I haven't asked for anything so far.

Nevertheless, I accept the idea of a Patreon, as long as it is completely disinterested and without counterpart that would distort the game and harm the spirit of the site. This would help me to cover all or part of the server's costs (the French website is self funded this way, Hio is not). If ever the amounts are insufficient, I will nevertheless continue to finance the site as long as the load is not unsustainable for me! ;)

You'll have more information here. (edit: fixed link)

A small suggestion that I find would make things a lot more convenient: the whole process of inserting images isn't very intuitive as it is. Would it be possible to do it by uploading files instead of pasting links? Getting links for certain photos can sometimes be a hassle, and I think doing it this way would make it a lot simpler.

Uploading would mean that the server is hosting, requiring memory.

The tag for inserting pictures for those that do not recognize the icon on the bar is [img] [/ img] for those that prefer typing if that makes things any easier.

I know it may not really be needed right now, and we already can filter threads by the 8 icons, but would it be possible to implement a [tag] search into the search system? Just so we can quickly search for open threads for example, or guides, or threads connected to a certain event.

And another thing; at the moment it's impossible to search for more than one word in a cohesive unit. E.g. if you search "he can" you end up with results for "he" and for "can" and you can't have the exact result you searched for. Trying to put your search between ** or "" doesn't work either.

I understand the search function is a weak spot for many forums out there, but it's very useful imo.

Those would be beyond my ability, but I will forward your requests to the site owner and fancy coder, Zach.

Upon requesting a trunk update, asking for the first and second year spells wasn't valid, I was requested to list out each spell that comes from first and second year.
I would have thought the moderators would have these ready to copy paste as a whole year chunk of spells would be the most common update.

Edit: There is one, I don't know so.

I've said this to Lear personally before but I'm going to strain it again. Prodigal students knowing next year spells and not their current year spells shouldn't be a thing.

1. Why would Oliver skip current DADA to learn next year's DADA? If he's advanced, why is he skipping spells?
2. When the homework is released, if I haven't done it and another has, they now know DADA spells I don't, which breaks Oliver being all "advanced" in DADA if his current year peers know spells he doesn't.
3. To further my last point, this is even more annoying if a prodigal DADA 2nd year student knows spells that Oliver doesn't cause they're not released yet. This is completely breaks this whole trait as Oliver is supposedly advanced in DADA yet a second year knows spells that I have to OOC wait for months for.

I say this as a prodigal charms student just used a 3rd year spell I can't learn yet. Then their character asked Oliver to cast it. If this were a DADA spell, it would have completely broken down the character I'm trying to build with Oliver.

In conclusion, I believe prodigal students should know their current years subject of spells. As if they had graduated the year in just that subject alone. Or at least allow them to roleplay learning the spell like they would with prodigal spells.

Ideally prodigal students would in the future have access to the classes to get the spells of their current year, that does not happen to be presently possible because those classes have not been developed. This concern will be forwarded to that staff team with a plan on how to get classes, curriculum, etc. up and available for players. If this ends up taking too long, there might be a temporary measure to bridge this issue.
