Chess Combat (Match 3)

Oh. My. GOD. THIS IS SUCH A FRIGGIN LONELY CORNER. This was a corner for wallflowers, loners, and people who can’t dance. Hanako was nothing like that! Yet, his team was cuddling up together with valid reasons like a bunch of small critters cold from the chills of winter. Without him! Take a few steps forward and maybe people who just came to watch the duel would think he was on the opponent's team. Maybe he could replace Miss Flip. Maybe? Nawh. Miss Flip, -as low as her health is- was a memorable opponent. She may have not hit him as much as he did to her. But the emotional damage was commendable.
"Did you want my attention that badly monsieur?"
“Oh~ My, was it a bit too obvious~? Gosh, how embarrassing~” he covered his face, feigning bashfulness. “ Well, I like being truthful. Now that the cat’s out of the bag... why not just stand completely still so I can admire that good-looking face of yours, hm~” he smiled politely before sending an incendio duo. Nice spell. But unfortunately, NotHot ( as expected ) evaded it with ease. What the hell is this guy? Half Occamy or something? Hanako thought he'd just look hotter with a few flames on his sleeves but oh well.
Through bittersweet grins, he said “ "Aw, come on now~. Tons of people would be sooooo jealous of you with the amount of attention I give~! (ooc:no they wouldn’t) Just let me hit you once, pretty please with cherries on top~? One hit for one date after this, how does that sound?”

It looked like it shouldn't be. It simply shouldn't be. The bad luck that had come over the Slytherin team in the last seconds was so extreme that it was not even the slightest bit comedic anymore. At least not to Opeila. Piper's spell backfired, making the older girl want to yell at her- Piper was their queen, she couldn't afford casting her spells so carelessly!
Well... Just a little longer, they just needed to focus and they would get through this...

Chess Combat (Match 3)
It was all too much - Piper aimed her wand at the large opponent. "Flipendo!" Too much was happening all around, however, especially with so many spells aimed at Starlee, and her spell backfired. Struggling to breathe after feeling as though she had just been sucker-punched, Piper remained on her feet. Poor Starlee was taking a lot of hits (hit with surprising precision); Piper felt another bolt of fear as she realized they were taking out her last line of defense: They were coming for her. And the ruthless opponents were not going to show mercy.
We can still win. We can still win. We can still-
It didn't really matter; all that did was that her spells didn't fail yet again. What was most embarrassing was her hiding behind her own rival and then failing at the one thing she was supposed to be good at. No matter what the other team thought; she'd have to be seeing the people on her team for the rest of the year. That was no bueno in terms of humiliation. Plus, who would want her on the team if she couldn't even cast a decent Flipendo?
Sighing, she steadied her aching body and prepared for the next moves.Doing as strategized

Enzo was quick to call out another "Flipendo!" as soon as the attack began on the last worm that had been attempting to block the serpent queen. It was really not much of a surprise to him when she stumbled backwards, weakened from the heavy fire of multiple opponents. Unfortunately, not everyone could be as graceful and evasive as he was.
Then, right before it was too late his attention made its way back over to wink boy, and once again Enzo just stepped out of the way of the oncoming spell. He then proceeded to shake his head at the nonsense spewing out of the chap. With a scoff and a nice splash of sarcasm he replied "Oui bien sûr... in your wildest dreams"

As the match proceeded, Lydia could see two different strategies from both teams; While the iNPC team decided to attack their opponents, the Viridian Vipers, after the previous round where luck had decided to completely abandon them, had decided to rearrange their positions, with only one of them casting spells.
Greta had stuck with her plan on trying to hit Starlee once more, however the Slytherin girl managed to avoid the knockback jinx even if by a little, the exhaustion from the game most likely catching up to her. To try and stop Greta from casting more spells, Opeila cast her Expelliarmus towards the other girl, but the Durmstrang student easily avoided the spell. Yefim also used the same spell and strategy as before and aimed for Piper's feet once again, and succeeded in rendering the gound under her feet incredibly slippery. Roberta and Enzo concentrated their attention on Piper as well, as they both tried to hit her with the knockback jinx; however, while Enzo's spell flew towards the Slytherin Queen but missed her, Roberta's spell flew towards Hanako that, despite the surprise, managed not to get hit.
The rest of the Viridian Vipers decided to move and change their positions on the board: Hanako got closer to the rest of his team, moving from A5 to A4, Starlee moved from A2 to B3, leaving the spot to Piper, that moved from A1 to A2.
This round had been pretty calm, with nothing major happening, but the tension and the excitement for the duel didn't stop; anything was still possible, and both teams could still win.

The girl across from Greta was on her last legs. She could tell. Fatigue, weariness and discomfort were rampant across her features. If they could just take her down, maybe they'd have this game in the bag. If they could take her out, the queen would have one fewer defendants. They'd have less offensive power. Their numbers would be further pruned. Then, like dominos, it would only be a matter of time before they fell, one after another, to bow before the rightful victors.
If they could take her out. With no other viable options given the limitations of her rank as rook--goodness did Greta miss last summer's queenly status--she raised her wand and took aim. It would be something of a risk, she knew. Going back on the offensive meant that she had to take some of her attention away from the brunette nearby, which was something upon which that girl could easily capitalize. But as the blonde to the fore started to move, Greta had little time to spare. This would be her last chance. But as she raised her wand to take aim, a rather disarming shout from nearby made her react.
In a blur, Greta ducked and spun, easily evading the streak of light that came from her left. "Flipendo!" Her voice strong and clear, light shot reliably forward from her wand tip. Opportunity narrowing further with the diversion, Greta had cast in haste. It missed. Greta groaned. Well, whined, really, as the blonde moved safely to a square no longer within Greta's domain. She wasn't the only one to move, however. The opposing queen had as well. And all of a sudden, Greta found herself facing not one, but three desperate girls who no doubt would love to see the little Norwegian pixie noosed and quartered.
But more than that. The queen had dared show her face and enter into direct line of fire. Fingers tightening about the polished handle of her wand, Greta's lips pulled into an impish close-lipped smile. Prepare for and aim to survive an aggressive onslaught? Reposition for a more strategic offensive? Take the chance that they had and attack the now defenseless Swine Queen? Or something else entirely? There was a lot to consider, and only a fraction of a moment to decide. She spared a glance towards her own queen for a sign of where to go from here.

Chess Combat (Match 3)

As things were going, Opeila was really getting annoyed on a new basis. On a 'this is entirely unfair, why are they being taught so well in duelling and we are not' basis. The new third year felt so humiliated she wanted to cry, so what should she do? Blame the teachers for this. They should have prepared them better. This was Professor Pendrast's fault Love you, Elaine. The Durmstrang girl was somehow still not out of energy but somehow still avoided Opeila's spells, making the new third year want to start playing unfair. She tried to be a good player, she really did, but slowly there was only the wish to play like a sore loser.

Yefim was ready to set up and punch out for the win. It seemed pre-destined, yet after he casts the same spell twice, it seemed the strategy was already too old, they all knew the attacks were coming and moved out of the way. Perhaps the opponents weren't as stupid as he thought. Too bad, now they would have to suffer longer.
The only spell being flung was another dud. There was a big shift, an attempt to change the odds and evade the inevitable. He had to hand it to them, they were fairly adept at running away, he was surprised the match had lasted so long. No matter, fifteen rounds or eleven it was all the same to him. Compared to his physical training regiment and marital magic classes, this was basically an exercise in keeping himself held back. He was not going to be breaking a sweat.

“ No~?” Hanako pouted “ Is that so? Shame. We would’ve had a jolly good time, you know~” said he, who had never been on a real date before, with brimming confidence. “ Well then, ciao~” Hanako skidded to his new position with ease. “ Don’t worry, Nothot! I can still admire you from here, and you can think more about my offer~” just as he sent a wink to the half occamy durmstrang student, his plan to look back towards this teammates was interrupted by a sudden whoosh that flew right across his ear, making him almost stumble back in surprise, getting ready to start a short childish tantrum.
However, upon figuring out it was the opponent's queen that, his frown was quickly morphed into a sneaky grin. “ Well well well~. Has someone gotten an itty bitty bit jealous~?” he taunted loud enough for the queen to hear. “ You know, I would’ve preferred a less dangerous method if you wanted to gain my attention, Miss Queenie~”. Perhaps he moved on from NotHot waaay too quickly. But he can’t help that he’s so popular.

'Just keep going. Just keep going. Come on Starlee. You can do it. You've had much worse. Just keep going.' Starlee was attempting to stay calm and to stay standing, but she was struggling. She watched as the girl in front of her cast a Flipendo at her, hoping to take her out. But Starlee was one step ahead this time, watching as the spell came careening toward her, which she managed to side step. She could hear the girl whine in anger, but Starlee ignored it.
She let out a huge sigh of relief, happy to still be standing, and made her move. Finally she was in a position she couldn't be cast at, so she hardened her resolve. She tightened her grip as she contemplated her next move. 'Just keep going.'
