Hogwarts Summer Camp  Capture the Base
── ❋ ──
@Lizzie Verdine | @Ruby Cazares (as Slava)
𝓙ailbreak! The sweet taste of freedom was finally here. Amadea wasted no time breaking out of the jail of the base she and Lizzie had formerly guarded. Now that they were free, they had to get the base back. What once belonged to Hogwarts should rightfully always belong to them and Amadea was ready to take back the base. She hoped that they would be more prepared this time; before they had been too lax with the fact that no one was challenging them for the base. Amadea wasn't going to make the same mistake this time.

During their time in jail, the base had changed hands yet again, and now belonged to Durmstrang. Lizzie had also escaped from prison and was now beckoning Amadea, so the girl followed the Ravenclaw ready to make their epic plan. "Yes, we have to get the base back," Amadea exclaimed vindictively. "It is rightfully ours!" Amadea looked at the base, trying to think of what the best option for recapturing was. Perhaps one of them could go around to where Durmstrang was now guarding and try to distract them while the other slipped around the other side to reclaim it.

Before Amadea could ask Lizzie what type of strategy they wanted to approach this with, the girl was running off toward the base. Alright, so they were going to be very upfront and offensive about this then. Amadea took a deep breath, mustering her courage. Confrontation was definitely not her strong suit, whether in a competition or in real life. She much preferred to do things more quietly and off to the side. But of course, this was a competition and she wasn't about to back down. They had to recapture the base for Hogwarts. Amadea raced off after Lizzie, hoping to catch up with her by the time they reached the base. Hopefully their approach would scare off the Durmstrang student who had claimed the base and they could recapture it for Hogwarts once and for all.

A jailbreak! Finally, something that made sense!

Miranda rocketed up from her spot on the bench, eager to be up and running instead of sitting around and twiddling her thumbs. There was nothing worse than looking on as others played without her - for better or for worse. But now she could at least control some of what happened in the game, by participating herself!

The young Ravenclaw spent a few moments circling the field at an easy jog, trying to decide which defenders looked the least alert. Getting caught again wasn't exactly something she seemed interested in doing, so now she'd have to play even smarter than she had before.

After what seemed like many long minutes of deliberation, but what probably only a single minute at most, she finally made up her mind to go after the same base she'd just escaped. While some would argue that that probably wasn't the best idea, Miranda didn't care. The girl who was currently guarding it had been beaten by her before - surely she could recreate the success. It was either that, or getting caught again, which seemed like sufficient motivation.

Therefor, Miranda found herself moving toward the base, keeping a watchful eye out for trouble. Hogwarts would not be losing this contest, not if she could help it.

The announcer was kidding. He had to be. Seriously, a jail break? But he wasn't, she knew she'd heard him right. Well, there went their lead. Phyllis wasn't a pessimistic person by nature, but contrary to what it seemed like, she wasn't a complete idiot. She knew Ilvermorny was outnumbered, especially if both opposing teams decided to 'wreak havoc' on them like the announcer told them to. What did he have against the Americans?

They still had three bases, but how long would that last? Hogwarts and Durmstrang probably had enough people to hold every base. Ilvermorny barely had enough to cover the ones they currently held. Unless the other teams decided to take a nap, they had no way of winning. All they could do was be annoying and keep the other teams from winning, which sounded good enough to her. Annoying people was her specialty.

Well, at least she'd see a little action now. The girl who'd been sitting in her prison left, only to turn back around. Fingers crossed she'd only have to deal with her. Brown eyes narrowed slightly, zeroing in on the girl she was going to tag. The redhead grinned. Finally she was going to get to actually play.

Alexei's imprisonment was shortlived, as the annoying girl from earlier opted to free him as two of his other schoolmates took the base. "Ha! I knew you were fond of me," he said with a cocky wink at his savior. He was still mildly irritated at her incorrect tattle tale-ing at the beginning of the game, but that would have to wait for later. For now, he would focus on the fact a pretty girl had saved him, and more importantly, winning this game. "Much appreciated, dorogaya. Base 7 is completely unguarded, so why don't you continue your acknowledgment of your love for me and help me capture it?" He blew her a kiss simply because he knew it would annoy her and also because she was very pretty. On that note, he abandoned the base that he had tried and failed repeatedly to capture and turned his attention to a base that was occupied by the English.

The game seemed to be devolving into complete chaos and Alexei was loving it. He darted through swarms of students from the other schools, focused completely and utterly on the goal in front of him. As much as he loved the opportunity to have a reason to talk to a pretty girl, it was rather embarrassing that all he had done thus far in the game was repeatedly fail to capture a single base and then get rescued. Especially after all his trash talk. He was going to have to step it up.

The sequence of events that had unfolded before Cassius' eyes in what felt like a matter of moments gave the young boy pause. A full frontal assault had been launched against Base 4 by the savages from Durmstrang, their previous efforts foiled by the brave and agile defense of the lone Hogwarts defender. It was only when they attacked from multiple directions was he overwhelmed.

"Cowards! Could not take me one-on-one and had to bring friends!" Cassius shouted, a wry smirk on on his face even as he was promptly sent to prison. He had hoped that would not be the end of his valorous pursuits on the field. Prison would not suit him, he knew. After all, the food was far too bland.

Salvation for the boy came quickly though. Almost as soon as he had resigned himself to the bench that served as a makeshift cell, he was freed. A jailbreak! What fine luck he had. Durmstrang may have captured the base but the threat he posed was no longer neutralized--and now he could go on the hunt.

The best defense is a good offense, he always heard though from whom he could not recall. It was just one of those phrases spouted about by those whose credentials for strategy were questionable at best; but, to the young Ravenclaw it seemed like a right grand plan. If that stinky girl from Durmstrang wanted to defend Base 4, go right ahead. Greater conquests awaited the boy as he cast his gaze across the field.

The situation for Hogwarts was less than promising for Hogwarts. Many of their bases had been captured, early conquests quickly lost. Still, less bases meant more bases the competition had to defend which would spread out their defenses. The time was opportune then for a strike.

Sprinting out from the prison of Base 4, Cassius locked onto his target--Base 1.

The green eyes girl supposedly guarding their last base but somehow as the sun grow higher up in the sky, they feel like lightheaded and needed to find much protection from the much bigger shade. And so they left their base to find that protection.

Not to mention that their throat dry as a sand paper and needed to drink water to prevent any dehydration. They walked out from the base that they supposedly guard, looking for some sort of liquid to quench their thirst. After they found it not far from where they left their sunglasses before they game begin, they look back again to the field.

The other boy that suppose to be there with them also gone. Doing only Merlin's know what. The boy pale as a snow and maybe he is also looking for some shade or even maybe that he forfeit himself and gave up on the game with how many running that he had done. Cash finished up their drink on the side line of the field.

They wipe the sweat that drenched their face and put on the dark shade on their face again. It is a mistake that the soon to be second year done in the beginning of the game. The heat from the sun gave no mercy to the player that running around on the field. When all of the players that been imprison get their jailbreak, it is a clean slate to do it all over again.

Cash make a mental note. They could try to reclaimed their last base or the very first based that they claimed (both claimed successfully by the green eyes) but Cash is not the type of person that do the same thing twice. Cash take a deep breath and strategize. Some player hop from one base to another base, some stay on the same place. Defending their claimed bases.

Cash put on their shades again and get out from the sideline tent that give them a brief protection from the harsh sun up in the sky. With new target in their mind and the gold flag on their hand, they run towards their intended base target. Hoping it will close the gap between how many Durmstrang and Ilvermony had claimed over the bases.

“Maybe... one of us could distract him, so that at least one of us can escape?"

Ariana furrowed her eyebrows, pondering on the idea. It seemed quite reliable, offering the chance of sweet success should their attempt favor them well. On the other hand, it could be risky, they still stood a chance of being recaptured. Ariana already couldn’t bear the cocky smirk that was presently plastered on the durmstrang boys face, and she highly doubted that she would be able to stand the expression of amused pride he would hold were they to fail and be returned to their imprisonment. The gryffindor was willing to take the risk though, for her confinement to the jail bench was intolerable, and so the cons of their plan merely crossed her mind before they were discarded carelessly without second thought.

"So... that guy... Is he your boyfriend or are you single?"

A nudge of speech that brought her back to reality from her formulative thinking. There was no doubt this question was directed towards Lydia. Ariana couldn’t help the choke of surprised laughter that escaped her lips at the boy's seemingly well observed presumption. She hastily covered it up, knowing full well that Lydia might be embarrassed by these words, for she wasn’t exactly living happily ever after with Rafael at the moment. She was indeed on the verge of blurting out an answer into the silence, to say something like, ‘Yes. He is her boyfriend.’ just before Lydia tried to deny anything. For Ariana really thought they were the perfect match, no matter how uncertain her hufflepuff came across about it. However her mouth stayed shut and she resisted the temptation to release her thoughts, instead turning her back to the boy and leaning towards Lydia to whisper their plan.

“I think your idea works well,” she started, “...one of us has to distract him.” She flashed a glare of annoyance towards the boy out of the corner of her eye, her frustration at being captured and retained within the jail clearly visible. As soon as she heard the words jailbreak she was definitely making a run for it. Focusing back on the plan, she gave a sly smile, poking her friend in the shoulder as she rushed her next words. “I’m not doing the flirting this time, it’s your turn.” Anticipating an expression of shock and alarm from Lydia, not to mention various protests, she further hurried her next speech. “Then I can run, no, no, chill, it's really easy, just...ask him why he’s interested about you and Raf, don’t forget to add confidence and just...uh, charm him is all I can say, you have enough charm and beauty for that!” she raised her eyebrows in amusement, “I mean you managed to steal that idiot's heart! What’s harder than that?!” she pointed up to the podium where her cousin was yelling into the megaphone. Giving Lydia a bright smile, she turned back to the game, nudging her in the side gently, “c’mon it’s easy!”

A few clumsy ‘accidents’ and she would be able to pass it off. The chance that their approach would fail seemed to cling to Ariana as she readied herself discreetly. Arjan certainly seemed swift enough on his feet to catch Ariana if she failed. It wasn’t long before Jailbreak was called and without hesitating, she raised her arms and shoved Lydia in Arjan's direction before jumping up and zooming away, hoping that the falling girl was enough to distract the boy.

Her concentration had now been poured into racing towards the base, and she left no room for hesitation, although she couldnt help the jolt of panic that rose as she found herself wondering if the plan had worked. Was Lydia okay? Sneakers skidded across the ground as she reached for the flag, intent on claiming their rightful win. Would she succeed? Luck was bound to favour the girl sometime soon, misfortune surely wasn’t about to take dominance? It couldn’t. Not again. Yet the young Veela would not know the outcome, and so she would continue to fight as best as she could, one thought captivating her ready mind.

Time to win our base back.

- Mentioning @Rafael D'Spacito -
Lydia's face became bright red quite quickly, but this time the sun and the hot day had nothing to do with it; instead, the Durmstrang boy's words were the cause of the sudden embarrassment.
She quickly glanced at Rafael, before looking back to the older boy.

"I- no we're not-" she blabbered, just as Ariana whispered in her ear. She looked down at her feet as she nervously played with a string of her hair that had escaped the elastic that was keeping them up. She had to flirt? With this boy? A sense of panic took over her, she had no idea on how to do that or what to say; Ariana's words were somehow helpful, even though she wasn't too sure about it. She almost protested, almost told her friend that it was a horrible, horrible plan, that she would have made them fail, but Ariana sounded way too focused on it, that Lydia was sure her friend wouldn't have changed her mind. She didn't even spend too much time wondering what she meant when she said she had stolen Rafael's heart, the game was too important in that moment; she could have always asked her later.

Taking a deep breath, she thought about all of the movies she had seen, and books she had read; how did people even flirt?

Looking up at the boy, she put on a smile on her face before she started speaking. "I mean..." she adjusted the loose string of hair behind her ear as she battled her eyelashes, "why, are you interested?" the smile turned into a smirk, her eyes never leaving the Durmstrang student's face as she talked. She could do this, couldn't she? She really hope she could, and also that a certain Gryffindor boy was not looking at the scene.

Just as she finished talking, Rafael called for the jailbreak and the redheaded girl jumped on her feet. What was she supposed to do now? They needed to run away, or take control of the base again, but the Durmstrang boy was still there and-

Her train of thoughts completely derailed as she felt Ariana push her with so much force that she lost her equilibrium and found herself falling in the direction of the Durmstrang boy. If he did not catch her, if the plan of distracting him did not work, Lydia would definitely end up on the ground, her ego definitely more bruised than her hands.

Slava had headed for base 5, determined to take it from those Americans. A rush of adrenaline hit as he got nearer, his opponent reaching out to get him. Harnessing that energy, he ducked under the boy's arm and sprinted for the base. He captured it, switching the flags with a grin. He looked to tag the American boy, but he had already made his escape. No matter, the jailbreak made it so that it wouldn't have had any effect anyway. What would his next move be? Did he look vulnerable? His hesitation to leap into action must have made it seem that way, as he saw two girls headed his way.

He frowned slightly, knowing he couldn't fend both of them off. The numbers would overpower him. But he couldn't just surrender the base to Hogwarts! That would be no good. He was ready to stand his ground, even if it was costly. He glanced around the field, peering at the flag colours and trying to find his teammates. Ilvermorny and Durmstrang seemed to be tied for the number of the bases captured despite Hogwarts having more players than either of the other schools. He couldn't see all of the Durmstrang participants from where he was, but he had to hope that someone came to help him. Was it worth it? Regardless, he readied himself. He would do everything he could to retain possession of this base.

Vita had decided that fate was just not on her side today. Firstly, she had missed capturing a base for her team, then she had been imprisoned against her will. Now - and fate seriously needed to start supporting her here - now, she had missed out on another base for Durmstrang.

Okay, so maybe it was possible she was taking this a little seriously. Still, her school was the rightful winner, she knew. Perhaps the offence tactic was not such a good idea. She eyed the pitch for a blue flag on the wind and , sure enough, there was one fluttering at the adjacent base. Only, joy of joys, Slava Preobrazhensky had also decided to guard said flag.

Grudgingly, however, she had to admit that she was glad he was there. She could see two Hogwarts girls approaching and, wait, was that a small frown on his face? Well well, looks like she’d save him from losing the base. Wasn’t she nice?

She waved at him. ”Hey, Preobrazhensky, I’ll lend you a hand!” The fact that most Hogwarts students couldn’t speak Russian was startlingly beneficial . They’d have no idea what she’d just said, after all.

With no further ado, Vita rushed to his aid, pushing her legs faster and faster and wondering she could pass a tackle off as a mere misunderstanding. Eventually, she decided against it. A swift flick of her wand would do, if it came to it. She’d have to see after this round. They were tying, after all. Maybe Durmstrang could even win without cheating. Fancy that.
