@Louisa McStately

I do believe the site sorts people in accordance to their quiz answers and to help the houses have even amounts. But we can't predict who will go inactive and not participate, so I don't think the houses can get more even than they currently are. I'm not sure what you mean by "average best," but we reward the top point earners regardless of house, so you could personally win even if your house doesn't. I hope this helps! Let us know if you have a further suggestion for this!

@Elena Clark

I think I understand your suggestion. This might help: When you search, you can select "Only in" certain forums. If you want to see if people have dragons in their encys, only select the Characters forum. If you want to see RPs with encys, select all the forums that don't have games threads or ooc chats. But it's not a bad idea to add the same filter from the unread posts to the search function. Since it requires coding, you can add the suggestion here, so Zach can see it!

Over the past few days I’ve been thinking how wonderful it would be to have a notes pad you could buy (or get when you first do your diagon alley shopping). The note pad would go in the section next to your rememberal and you could add notes like ‘write rp with such and such’ or ‘shop orders for…’ therefore not having to resort to using one’s brain as a storage center. If it already exists please tell me!

I'd suggest making a post in your encyclopedia for that purpose. I also have a thread to-do-list in mine and I have seen a few others do the same with shop orders ^^

You can also send owls to yourself! You can make folders and sort your owls into sections - that's what I do!

Fellow staff, I come to propose something that you might find a bit controversal and I don't want you to make a big deal out of it or anything but take a few things into consideration when I say what I say.

Make it so you cannot be on other teams like Headliner or Sports Moderator if you get the staff position. Mentor Team already has this expectation.

Why do I say this? It can be viewed as unfair that a team is made up of mostly staff members and it feels more like a clique rather than giving everyone an opportunity. So, if there are like 10 people on Headliner staff that are staff members, it already feels skewed.

The Moderator Team is partially made up of staff members already. It's kind of overkill to hold multiple positions. Yes, they may have qualified for it and passed the tests and everything, but what about the normal people who have given their effort and time to learn the systems and studied nonstop on the sports but got a rejected application to someone who is a staff member? As a matter of fact, it doesn't have to solely just be a staff member applying and getting the position it could be that the team is already mostly staff or appears to be mostly staff and it gives off a cliquey vibe.

It doesn't feel fair, so why not make it the same policy for that the mentor team has and be like "you cannot be on staff and be on this team at the same time"? It takes up the space that normal members could take, instead of having staff members claim more and more spots that others could take.

I mean this respectfully, and not in a way that's intended to offend. I am trying to point out that it feels unfair to members who do not hold a title outside of "House Year 1" or simply just "Duellist"

I bring this up not just because I have this view but also because I know several others that see it the same way.

Absolutely not in terms of sport mods. I have seen the tests done by you guys, some of you guys should not try to add without a calculator and a friend (said with all kindness) and it is a challenge to replace qualified sport mods with new mods as it is. Adding this restriction would only negatively impact moderator performance in sports. If a normal member tests well, since these tests are graded, they are more likely to get the role than even a beloved staff member because mods want someone competent in math and rolls to manage their game, not a friend.

In terms of headliner, I do not know so I cannot attest to the challenge of replacing qualified candidates from this role.

In terms of mentor, the major reason for this was DNC drama and us excluding members from consideration onto certain teams because of DNCs. This gives members that do not get along a means to contribute and to prevent members from essentially being blocked out of being able to assist the community in some capacity because the person they DNC'd against is sitting in multiple teams.

I love this site and am amazed by all the amazing things they have here! I was wondering if we could add another sport championship? It would kind of be like a 'nerd club' of Wizard Chess. We could make a special room for the championship, and students could apply (Like how we do for Quidditch or Dueling or Broom Racing) to get on the waitlist and all. I have already made an out of character one, but maybe we could make this an official sport?

Students could Rp their moves and/or the whole game and how it went. Then they could move onto different levels, based on their skills and wins. This could also effect the Stats (points added).

To join, maybe students have to have a certain amount of spells or Wisdom (in stats). Then, students from different houses could verse each other, earning house points. Let me know what you think!
Thanks everyone for all your support! :) :D <3

The major issue with a game like wizard chess is how long the game would take. I (this is not speaking for every mod) usually attempt to develop games with a median of 5 rounds. The standard deviation should be +/- one round, the second deviation on the bell curve being another 1 round. Games such as chess take many moves to accomplish unless you are playing the fool's gambit and can end your opponent in 3 rounds consistently which only works once on truly novice players.

However, I am always interested to see actual systems for other games. I know we are not actively seeking another game to run, manage and play but sometimes good ideas change minds.

One game to look at, Karina and Lear, is Gobstones. Tristan has been working very hard on making that a viable game that I think would fit the criteria. I'd personally like to see it made an official game, but even if it's not, I believe the system he's developed is a good one!

so right now when you go to your owl messages each reply someone sent you is a seperate rectangle you can pull up and look at the conversation at, while at the moment i dont have very many messages i can see this easily becomeing a problem when a ton of pepole are messaging you and you have to tredge though four or five diffent responces from four or five diffrent conversations trying to find the one you are looking for. would it be possible to condence it a bit so that a a whole owl exchange takes up one single space on your list of received owls? like how topics have a single section in topic lists instead of each reply on a topic being a separate listing.
