The family of Pairie, into which Diana was born, was not as high-born as families like the Malfoys or the Carrows, but it is still considered a noble house with origins in France... Last century, when Grindelwald's power stormed the world with his idea of wizard supremacy, two brothers—who were the only two sons of Pairie at that time—split into two sides. One supported Grindelwald and wanted to stand up for the wizarding world; the other, however, had quite the opposite belief. After Grindelwald gave his speech in Paris and almost destroyed half of the city, the shaky relationship between the brothers eventually broke. The younger brother abandoned his old life and resettled in England—the only place in Europe untouched by Grindelwald’s shadow... And that is how the Pairie bloodline first took root in Britain.

Of course, to Diana, these are just pasts from a long time ago that doesn't really concern her. She grew up with her sister happily and healthily. With their mother gone, Diana’s father had to hide his grief and poured as much time and energy as he could into the twins, determined to give them a sense of a whole and loving family. Mr. Pairie doesn’t speak much, nor does he easily show his emotions — traits that Diana seems to have inherited. Sensitive as she is, Diana noticed her differences from the other children for as long as she can remember. But she also understands that she is lucky — to have an optimistic sister who didn’t inherit that quietness, and a caring father, even if he was sometimes criticized for being too strict.

Speak back to France,, the Pairie there no longer exists, so the old manor now belongs to Diana’s father as well. During her childhood, Diana would sometimes go there with her family for vacation. She enjoyed staying there, as she saw France as artistic and romantic... She and her twin sister, Dalia, celebrated their 11th birthday there, along with the joy of receiving their Hogwarts acceptance letters — which excited Diana even more than the birthday party itself. She had been eager to go to Hogwarts for as long as her father had talked about it — a grand, magical school full of new discoveries and opportunities, where she could finally express her talents...

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Diana had shown her ability of magic at a young age...when she was not yet four. That morning, she climbed on a small table that's next to a window --- perhaps to see what's happening outside of the house --- she stood on the table, tiptoeing. But then, she accidentally slipped, her body fall toward the floor... When her father, Mr. Pairie, heard a loud noise from Diana's bedroom and hush toward there, surprisingly, he did not see Diana lying on the floor. Instead, he saw her floating in the air, slowly descending toward the ground...

Just for a bit of context since this application is told through stories and not so much explaining, the Hongs are Darby's wizard side of the family, aka her father's family.

Beomseok Hong stepped off the ship, the smell of fresh, smoky, city air filling his nose. Beside him stood his wife, Eunji, carrying their youngest son, Minjoon, whilst their oldest, Yongjoon, stood behind his mother, clutching her skirt as her buried his face in his arm.

Eunji turned to her husband, tightly holding onto the little boy who was now beginning to cry. "범석아, 이게 정말 옳은 선택이었니?" "Beomseok, was this really the right choice?" She asked, her voice hoarse and hesitant. The man clutched his briefcase harder, his knuckles turning white.

"걱정하지 마, 내 사랑. 이 도시는 우리에게 모든 것을 줄 것입니다," "Don't worry, my love. This city will give us everything." he said tenderly, smiling warmly. Yet, his eyes did not face her. Instead, they scanned the the city's skyline, which hid in the fog from the distance of the port. People around him rushed off the ship in a flood, desperate to seek the opportunities of the bustling city.

He was going to make this city his.

Beomseok landed a spot in the Ministry of Magic's auror training program. His first few days in the city consisted of strenuous hours of studying and working, and his nights consisted of varying second jobs to help support his family. He'd come home in the morning as the sun began to rise, his children tucked into their beds and his wife asleep on the couch. He often went weeks without seeing his boys, and when he did, it would only be for a few short minutes.

But Beomseok knew his diligence would pay off. It eventually did. After graduating his training program at the top of his class, Beomseok acquired an entry-level position as an auror. It was a competitive, dangerous field. But Beomseok had dreams and goals. And nothing could stop him from reaching them. There was no denying that Beomseok was good at his job, especially for a beginner. With his diligence and passion, he excelled further than most at his level did. He recognized his own abilities as well. He thought they would earn him greatness. But eventually he learned that that was a foolish thought to believe.

Beomseok entered the room, snickers and whispers surfacing from the shadows around him. Dark overseas magic, incompetent foreigner. Beomseok didn't turn. He simply kept his posture straight, shut his ears and pretended not to hear it. Many almost thought he truly didn't. They thought they got away with the snide words that came off their tongues. They didn't want him to hear it. All except one.

Edward Kerr. Only a couple years older than Beomseok. Graduated the auror program a year before, top of his class. Came from a family of infamous, well-off purebloods. Talented prodigy who knew he was better than everyone. He was on top of the world, and nobody could knock him down.

"Hong!" Edward called out as Beomseok sat down at his desk. He leaned on the wall next to him, looking at him with a smirk. "You look tired," he taunted, beginning to circle around him as all eyes in the room turned to watch. "What kind of dark secrets were you up to last night?" He laughed. A few quieter laughs scattered across the room followed. Beomseok didn't reply. He didn't even face him. Edward frowned, disappointed at his victim's lack of reply. "Hey, answer me. Are you going to put a curse on me? Is that why you left your country? To spread your evil?" No response. "Answer me!" He snapped, slamming Beomseok's desk.

Beomseok stood up with a fire burning in his eyes. They meet Edward's with a deadly stare. "Leave me alone," Beomseok growled. Edward smirked, happy he was able to successfully provoke his target.

He clicked his tongue, lifting his hands off the desk and walking away from Beomseok with his hands in his pockets and his gaze on the floor. "Watch your temper, Hong," he snickered. "You don't want the Ministry to hear that the dangerous foreigner is showing signs of aggression to innocent coworkers." Beomseok clutched his desk tightly as Edward leaned in closer. "Watch what you say. One wrong step and I can get the Ministry to kick you out of here. I can destroy your life in an instant," he snarled. "Know your place, foreigner."

As Edward walked away, Beomseok felt his teeth grind against each other. He looked around. Everybody's gaze quickly shifted away as they realized he was watching.

What were the chances that the two rookie aurors who had silently declared each other as their sworn enemy would end up on a mission together? The task was simple, catch a dark wizard who had been identified as the organizer for small meetings of dark wizards surfacing around the city. He wasn't that dangerous. Nor was he that hard to catch. But for two young wizards who hated each other more than anything in the world, the task was a bit more complicated.

The ice cracked when the two failed to catch their target after a tiresome chase. The two watched the dark wizard slip away into the crowded streets. They were both quiet for a second, both wondering if the other would speak first. Then it all blew up.

"How could you let him get away?" Edward snapped, turning to Beomseok as he pointed his finger at him.

Beomseok's brow furrowed. "What are you talking about? He got away because you couldn't take this seriously."

"Do not test me, Hong," Edward snarled. "I told you I can get you out of here in an instant. I will not let you soil my reputation. I worked hard to earn it." His wand was now to Beomseok's chest. Tension filled the quiet air. Finally, Edward dropped his hand. "We'll look for more leads tomorrow. We are not letting this happen again."

Beomseok stared as Edward walked away. Once he had disappeared into the crowd, Beomseok's defensive posture crumpled. His feet began to move and he found himself walking with no direction until he ended up in a dark, empty alleyway.

He didn't come across an entire sea just to be picked on. He didn't work for years, half-abandoning his family, just to be humiliated. He had come for glory, and he wasn't going to let people like Edward stand in the way of him achieving it.

Don't let him humiliate you, a whisper came from the shadows.

Beomseok jumped, his eyes darting around him. "Who's there?" He growled defensively.

Show him you are superior, the voice whispered again.

That's when Beomseok saw it. A serpent, emerald green, scaly, slithering out of a sewer pipe. Beomseok's breath hitched as he backed away slowly, nearly tripping over his own feet.

I can no longer watch him embarrass you, Beomseok, the serpent hissed.

You've been... watching me? He queried, half cautious, half curious.

I have, the serpent confirmed. I can help you.

A shine of interest came across Beomseok's eyes. How? He asked eagerly. His caution towards the snake was long gone.

He suddenly heard foot steps behind him. Then a gasp. Beomseok's head whipped around, his eyes meeting Edward's. "I knew it," Edward gasped. "Speaking the language of the serpents. I knew there was something wrong with you, evil foreigner," Edward hissed, drawing his wand. Beomseok drew his own wand, stumbling backwards.

Let me help you, the snake hissed from the shadows behind him. Let me help you show him your power.

Beomseok's hand shook as he held his wand out, eyes darting between Edward and the snake. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. He had come to London for a new life. One of glory and success. Not suffering and humiliation.

Do it, Beomseok whispered to the serpent. Help me show him.

Edward was already slowly approaching Beomseok, and he didn't even see the snake as it slithered through the shadows. Beomseok didn't understand what had happened at first. Edward appeared to freeze in his place, his limbs tensing as he slowly started to tip over. When he crashed to the ground, Beomseok saw it. The snake, wrapped tightly around Edward's ankle, teeth deep into his skin.

Beomseok gasped as he saw Edward writhe on the cold ground. The snake slithered off his body, towards Beomseok.

Leave him, the snake hissed. I will deal with him. I will show him what happens to cruel people.

Beomseok hesitantly nodded. He didn't know what would happen to Edward. Part of him was scared, he didn't want to genuinely hurt him. But a larger part of him didn't care. He walked out of the alley, joining the crowds, leaving behind a paralyzed Edward and the serpent.

They ruled Edward's death as a freak accident. He has been in the alley when a snake came out of the sewer pipes and attacked him. Snakes had been known to live in those pipes. They very seldom attacked, but this appeared to be an exception.

Beomseok got his glory. He worked diligently for years, moving up in the hierarchy. He became an infamous auror, known for his exceptional abilities. The Hong line had solidified its place in the magical world, giving rise to a powerful, successful, pureblood line. Occasionally, the ability would resurface, but not always. However, as generations of Hongs were born, one thing stayed the same. They would all hear the story of how Beomseok Hong could whisper to snakes, and they would whisper back.

"Darby, don't go too far. And do not go into the woods!" Sylvie shouted, reading a book whilst sitting on a lawn chair on the patio that overlooked the stretching fields ahead.

"Okay," her daughter Darby replied as she played in the grass nearing the border between the woods and the fields, building structures out of dusty rocks that would leave stains on her hands.

Darby, a voice hissed from the forest. The young girl tilted her head, curious rather than cautious. Darby, it hissed again. Darby got up, waddling towards the forest, the source of the whispers.

"Hello?" She babbled, still too young to pronounce the word correctly. That's when she saw it, a small, forest green snake, slithering towards her through the piles of leaves.

Hello, little one, the snake whispered gently. Darby leaned in closer. Was that snake... speaking to her? I've been watching you.

The little girl began to smile. The snake sounded nice. Comforting and gentle. She didn't know how else to respond. So she said the first thing that came to mind. Do you want to be my friend?

There was a short silence. Then the serpent responded. Okay, I will be your friend.

Darby giggled joyfully. Okay, she smiled. Suddenly, a yell interrupted the moment.

"Darby, I said do not go into the woods," Sylvie scolded, getting up from her lawn chair and hurrying over.

The child frowned, disappointed to leave her new friend. Aw. I have to go now, friend. Bye bye, she waved.

The snake hissed gently. Goodbye. I will see you again soon.

Darby smiled. Okay, she nodded, waddling out of the forest and back into the field.

When she came out of the forest, Sylvie was already there. She picked up her daughter, carrying her in her arms. "Darby, no forest," she scolded.

"Okay mama," she nodded sternly. "But I made a friend. The snake talked to me."

Sylvie sighed. An imaginative child who thought that animals talked to her. It was quite common. "That's nice, honey," she replied gently as she began to walk back into the house. "Maybe enough playing for today, and we need to clean up your hands," she laughed as she held up Darby's dusty palms.

Darby laughed too. She sighed, leaning her chin over her mother's shoulder, tired from a day of basking in the sun. She watched the forest, trying to look if her new friend had followed her. It appeared that it had not. She couldn't help but be a little disappointed. But she remembered her friend's words, and it reassured her.

I will see you again soon.

The Hong family. Everybody knows them. Julius Hong was the auror that never failed to hunt down the dark wizard he was assigned. Sebastian Hong was the ministry official who was known for his infamous rise to power. Aurelia Hong was the healer with extraordinary talent who became one of St. Mungo's finest. Beom-Seok Hong had come to England with nothing but his wife, two sons, and a couple of funds. He became an auror, and he worked his way from being nothing to the top, building the Hong family empire from scratch and securing the family's legacy for the rest of history.

Enter Lysander Hong. Lysander was different. Of course, like every other Hong, he had graduated as a Slytherin, his family was of the utmost importance to him, and every other Hong family principle that had been relentlessly drilled into every child born into the family. However, he couldn't just find the drive and success that everybody else had. Graduated for almost four years now, Lysander had picked up a career as an auror, but it wasn't really going anywhere. In fact, that was a bit of an understatement. He was horrendous at his job. Unfocused and lacking dedication and discipline, success was extremely rare in Lysander's career.

Enraged at his failure, Lysander's grandfather, Tobias Hong, instructed officials at the ministry to send Lysander to a remote area of Ireland, where maybe, now isolated from his friends, the night life of London, and any other potential distractions, he would finally focus on his career. The idea worked at first. Realizing that his actions likely would have consequences, Lysander, for the first time in his life, focused. On his career, on his betterment, on becoming a true, successful Hong, like all those in his lineage.

Though, not all good things last. Lysander was at a bar one night, drinking late after a long workday. Half asleep, he had been inches away from his forehead falling right onto the wooden counter when the bartender set a beer right in front of his face, jolting him awake.

"I didn't order this," he said, confused. The bartender simply nodded to his side. There he saw her. Honey blonde curls, sweet hazel eyes, in a nurse's uniform with her own glass in her hands. She noticed him looking at her.

"Oh, you looked like you needed it." Her gentle voice said. Lysander couldn't help but tilt his head, confused. As well as too much exhausted to genuinely process what was going on. "You look really tired."

From that moment on, the two hit it off. He learned her name was Sylvie, Sylvie McConnell. She was a nurse who worked at the local hospital. They'd always switch her shifts between day and night and she hated it because she could never adjust. She lived with her mother on a small farm in Kenmare.

Years passed and Lysander and Sylvie fell in love. They'd talk about their future, a house, a family. Though, through it all, Lysander kept his identity secret. Maybe he genuinely believed he could start a family with Sylvie. Maybe he knew he couldn't and he thought talking about it would help him forget.

Then it all fell apart. A couple years into Lysander and Sylvie's relationship, Lysander got a letter from his grandfather. After improving drastically in his work (which was largely thanks to Sylvie's encouragement), he wanted to transfer him back to London. He wanted him to move back into the family mansion. He was proud of him. Lysander had done it. He had become a true Hong.

So Lysander was left torn. The life he had built with Sylvie, or the one his bloodline had already built for him? He told her a week after he received the letter. He was leaving her. He had to move back to London and he wasn't sure it would work. Sylvie was shattered. She begged him to stay. When he refused, she revealed a pregnancy test. She was pregnant. He couldn't leave, not now. Lysander hesitated at that moment, but ultimately, he decided. He was a Hong. And he couldn't throw that away.

Lysander moved back to London a month later, leaving a pregnant Sylvie heartbroken. She continued to live on the farm with her mother Deirdre, who had known about Lysander and the pregnancy and was more than happy to help Sylvie through the struggle.

Lysander left one thing for Sylvie, the night he left. He left it on her doorstep, a white envelope that said To my love, Sylvie. She told herself she wouldn't open it, but she eventually did. In the letter, he told her everything. The magic, his family, his choice. Part of Sylvie believed it, part of her didn't. Either way, he didn't choose her in the end, so why did it matter? Sylvie closed the envelope and hid it away deep in a desk drawer.

Sylvie eventually gave birth to a healthy baby girl on a peaceful Spring morning when the air wasn't too cold anymore or too hot yet. She named her Darby. Darby grew up on the same farm Sylvie grew up on, raised by Sylvie and Deirdre. She spent most of her childhood playing in fields and with farm animals, getting mud in her hair and stains on her overalls.

Darby had a good childhood. Her mother and grandmother treated her amazingly. They were like a perfect, mismatched family. She got along with everyone and had a lot of friends at school, and while she occasionally got in trouble for goofing off or talking, she was smart and got good grades.

Darby would ask about her father, occasionally. Why did everybody else at school have one but she didn't? Every time she'd ask, Sylvie wouldn't answer. Or at least, she'd answer incredibly vaguely. "Some families are a bit different," she'd tell Darby. "And ours is one of them." Darby simply nodded, and as time went on, she slowly stopped asking.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Darby's first instance of magic happened when she was eight. She was playing in the mud, which she loved to do, even though her mother didn't exactly love it as much. That was until she suddenly saw her mother enter through the garden gate earlier than usual, her eyes landing exactly on Darby's muddy clothes and hands. "Darby McConnell!" Her mother gasped. Darby didn't know what to do. So she ran. She ran into the house. Mud and all. She ran all across the kitchen, the living room, up the stairs, around the upstairs corridor, and into her room. "Darby McConnell!" Her mother yelled again. "You better not be getting mud all over my house!" As Sylvie walked through the mud-stained house, she finally burst into Darby's room. Imagine her surprise when she opened the door to find the room spotless, and Darby and her clothes perfectly clean. She opened the door of her room again, only to find the house was completely spotless, without a single drop of a mud on the floor. She was confused, but maybe she was going crazy. She got Darby ice cream that night.

The first four years of Silas's life were happy and as normal as they could have been, all things considered. His mother was a pureblood witch who had made the difficult decision to detach herself from her bigoted family in order to be with the Muggle man she loved and give her son an upbringing free from her parents' influence. They disowned her when she chose the promise of creating her new family, and while she was upset to lose contact with the people she had previously devoted herself to, she still believed that she made the right choice. She couldn't bear the idea of going on with her life without her soon-to-be husband in it. The pair were deeply in love, and that was all they felt they needed. They had a promising new life with their son, and for a while, things seemed to be going well.

Unfortunately, fate had other plans for them. Tragedy struck in September 2018, when Silas's mother was killed at work. An experienced magizoologist with a particular interest in more dangerous magical creatures — specialising in dragonology — it wasn't an error of her own that lead to her early demise but rather how deeply she cared about all living creatures, including humans. A young and foolish new aide at the preserve she was currently working at made critical mistakes, getting too close to one of the most aggressive dragons and leaving the nearest entrance open. Silas's mother was the closest to them, and with no one else close or prepared enough to intervene, she threw herself into motion. Knowing she wouldn't be able to properly subdue the dragon in time, she threw itself into its path, trying to distract it at the same time that she used magic to throw the young aide hopefully out of harm's way. He managed to get to safety and alerted nearby staff members, but by the time they could get the dragon under control, it was too late.

The news of her death absolutely broke Silas's father. She was his entire world and the light of his life. He was wholly unprepared to face everything without her. Unable to cope even remotely healthily, he turned to drinking and smoking, burying his emotions as deeply as he could. He gathered all of his late wife's belongings and anything else related to her and locked them away, avoiding talking about her as much as possible. He became colder, angrier — a shadow of his former self that his wife would no longer have recognised — and little Silas didn't understand why his daddy didn't love him as much anymore. Lacking the love and warmth he had previously been used to, Silas started acting out more and more at home and school (which he had recently started) until he got the attention he craved. Granted, it was negative attention, but it became all the same in his eyes.

The gap between Silas and his father only grew as time went on, the resentment building. Silas preferred to spend as much time out of the house as possible — it had become a sad, lonely place — and instead invested his attention into sports, friends, and music. The city was his playground; the world his oyster, and he started seeing some opportunity where previously there was none. With interests to focus on and trouble to be caused, some glimpses of light returned to his life and he managed to carve out his own little area of fulfilment.
First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Silas's first instance of magic that could have been captured by the Book of Admittance occurred when he was four years old. He was happily playing with some of his toys when they started to levitate, seemingly of their own accord. His mother, nearby and watching him, recognised this for what it was and had additional conversations with his father about what this would mean, although they decided to go ahead with their plan to enrol him in Muggle primary school regardless. Later instances of accidental magic typically occurred when Silas was angry, in trouble (with teachers, police, older kids, etc.), or in danger.

I was 6 years old when I discovered that I was a wizard
I found this out while I was playing with my toy car and I was pushing it along the floor pretending to race other cars I had a car in each hand and as I pushed one of the cars driving itself moving around and going back back-and-forth and crashing into things this made me feel happy and excited that my car could actually do this and there was a witness throughout the room with me and they kept telling me how did you do Did you get your car to do that? And my answer was? I don’t know. You saw it. And then they say yeah, I did see it and then at the end I saw it go back to what it was originally, and you had to push it again. Then my siblings went and told my parents. Into my room and it was like that moment that they said wizard and I was like a wizard really it was overwhelmed and I kept telling myself I’m a wizard. I’m really a wizard and my parents are like yes you are and you are going to Hogwarts now like the rest of your siblings

Hi, Oliver! I have a few notes for you before I can approve this application.
-You need to make an encyclopedia. I have sent you the resources to make one over owl like we already discussed.
-This is less of a thing you need to change, but a note on this part: "currently in Year 1, applying to move to Year 2." Graduation has already passed, with your character's age, he is too young to be in the second year. You will have to complete the first year before you move up to year two next July.
-You say in your backstory Oliver was born into a pure-blood family, but your blood status is wizard born. Please change this to accurately reflect his blood status.
-Why is Oliver, who is born into a magical family, attending a muggle primary school? Most, if not all, magical families are separating their children from muggles and homeschooling them so this doesn't make sense.
-Your first instance of magic (FIOM) does not count towards your backstory word count. After removing this, your backstory does not meet the minimum 220 word count. Please remove the FIOM from the backstory and tell me more about Oliver's life before Hogwarts.
-First instances of magic require some strong emotion to have them occur. Seeing as Oliver is just staring at the glass, this doesn't really make sense. Please edit this to show some big emotion that causes the glass to spill.

Once those are edited and you have made an encyclopedia, I will be able to review this again.
STATUS: Pending, Sage, July 18th
Thank you for making the requested changes.
-Please add your FIOM back to this application.
-The backstory and first instance of magic you have in your encyclopedia are not the same as the one you have here. Please make sure they are the same.
-Your backstory is only 138 words, please tell me more about Oliver's life before Hogwarts. The minimum word count is 220 words.
-Please add a spot for abilities in your trunk.
-Copy-pasting from the last mod note so you remember to do this for your FIOM: First instances of magic require some strong emotion to have them occur. Seeing as Oliver is just staring at the glass, this doesn't really make sense. Please edit this to show some big emotion that causes the glass to spill.

Gyle and Calyton Lamont greeted their mother on the sunny morning that was the 4th of May 2014. And the 23 year old, stage name "Gloria Shine", could not have been more happy for their arrival. Her happiness was less derived from maternal instincts, than from the excitement of returning to the stage. Her pregnancy has been an unsightly blip on an otherwise budding acting career for the pureblood heiress. Within days of the birth, and with the help of the best mediwizards around, Gloria was ready to shine once again.

Gloria Shine was the stage name for one Gloria Lamont, of the Lamont pureblood family. Despite her parents wishes, Gloria was born for the stage. Immediately upon graduation, the young witch used every connection she had to land a spot on stage in a notable play. With determination and ferocity, she would climb to stardom higher and higher, only slowing down to have her two boys - the product of a one-night stand.

Gloria's lust for fame meant that the identical twins, Gyle and Clayton would be raised primarily by the estate's staff. One Peggy Patterson would be the primary nanny for the twins, doing her best to fill their lives with the support and warmth they missed from their mother. Her one weakness with the duo came in the form of discipline. Due to their class and wealth, the boys had learned early that the larger the fuss the made the greater the results. Peggy had too much love for the boys, and too much fear of Gloria to truly correct their ways. That was until Roy McDougal began the boys education at the ripe age of 5. His authority and stern yet paternally warm approach did wonders to soften the worse of the boys flaws.

First Instance of Magic:

At the age of 6, Gyle hated it when Clayton looked too different from him. They were identical twins after-all, Gyle believed they should be the same. This gave any change in Clay's appearance the potential to cause a total meltdown from Gyle. This directly clashed with Clay's love for theater and his love for playing dress-up. A changed hair color from Clay would be met by nothing but blind rage from Gyle. Rage so serious it would produce flames from atop the boys blond locks. To his nanny's horror, and Clay's utter amusement, the flames were in fact real, and would quickly consume his actual hair before sputtering out. When Gyle realized he was now bald, the fit would begin again, rage replaced with tears, while Clay's laughter filled the room.

Character Backstory:
Reducio

Octavian was the only child of Tavish and Erin Ramsay. From his earliest memories, the small terraced house in Stratford felt charged with expectation. His mother, Erin, carried herself with the rigid posture of someone who had once reached for greatness and fallen short.

The Ramsay household operated on schedules and standards. Breakfast was served at precisely 7:30AM, and by age four, Octavian was expected to sit properly at the table, use his utensils correctly, and engage in "educational conversation". Erin would quiz him on basic arithmancy concepts while buttering his toast, her grey eyes sharp with assessment. When Tavish was home between his lengthy work trips for MIME, the house felt lighter--he would ruffle his hair and tell stories about the magical buildings he'd helped conceal in bustling Muggle cities.

But Tavish's absences were frequent and long. Octavian learned early that his father's work was important, necessary, and came before family dinners or bedtime stories. He accepted this with the matter-of-fact resignation of a child who knew no different, though he noticed how his mother's mouth would tighten when another owl arrived, postponing Tavish's return.

Octavian attended Thornfield Academy, a small but reputable magical primary school in North London. The school catered to middle-class wizarding families who wanted their children to have a proper magical education without the expense of private tutoring. The building itself was a converted Victorian mansion.

From his first day, Octavian stood out--not just for his height, which already surpassed most children his age, but for his intensity. While other six-year-olds were content to learn about magical theory through stories and demonstrations, Octavian approached each lesson with intensity. He absorbed information about spell components, wand movements, and magical principles with an almost hungry precision, eyes sharp with concentration.

His academic excellence was matched only by his intolerance for those who couldn't keep up. When Marcus Finch struggled to understand the theoretical principles behind Transfiguration, mixing up the fundamental laws of magical transformation, Octavian's exasperated sigh echoed through the classroom. "It's not that difficult," he'd mutter, earning disapproving looks from their teacher, Mrs. Pemberton.

Persephone "Percy" Ashworth was the daughter of a senior Auror and a curse-breaker who specialized in ancient Egyptian tombs. She'd inherited her parents' sharp instincts and confidence, combined with a tongue sharp enough to cut through pretence like a blade. When she first met Octavian in third grade, she looked him up and down with calculating eyes and declared, "You think you're clever, don't you?"

During a Magical Theory lesson, Octavian, having answered yet another question correctly about the principles of Transfiguration, made a dismissive comment about the "poor comprehension" of a struggling classmate. Percy stood up and offered an alternative explanation of the same concept that was more accessible and easier grasped than the textbook definition.

"Impressive knowledge," she said, her voice dripping with mock admiration.

From that moment, they were locked in a relationship that balanced somewhere between friendship and rivalry. Percy was the only person who could match Octavian's intensity without making it feel like a competition. She challenged his assumptions, called out his arrogance, and never backed down from an argument. In return, Octavian respected her independence and razor-sharp mind.

Theodore Grimm came into contact with Octavian through the meddling of their teacher. When Mrs. Pemberton assigned partners for a history project on the Goblin Wars, she deliberately paired Octavian with the quiet, seemingly struggling boy that was Theodore. Octavian's initial reaction was one of resigned irritation--he'd been hoping to work with Percy, and instead he was stuck with the pale, nervous boy too afraid to speak up.

But Theodore surprised him. While Octavian had a broad knowledge of historical events from their textbooks, Theodore possessed a deep, almost obsessive interest in the darker aspects of magical history. He had been reading texts outside the curriculum on his own, driven by a fascination that his parents found concerning.

Their project earned the highest marks in the class, but more importantly, Octavian discovered that Theodore's quietness wasn't a weakness. Theodore saw things others missed and possessed a strategic mind that complemented Octavian's more direct approach.

Damien Rosewood was the bridge that held their group together. The son of a successful potioneer and a former Ravenclaw who now worked in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, Damien had inherited his parents' gentle nature and their tendency to see the best in people. He was soft-spoken and dreamy, with a habit of gazing out windows during lessons and an uncanny ability to defuse tension with a well-timed joke or observation. Especially between Octavian and Percy, who clashed as often as they agreed.

They bonded over their shared experience of living under the high expectations of their parents.

Erin had transformed her own failures into a rigid blueprint for her son's success. Every evening, when he returned from school, she would review his day's work with the intensity of a general planning a military campaign. Good marks were expected; exceptional performances barely acknowledged. Octavian understood, with the clarity that only comes from years of observation, that he was his mother's second chance at greatness. He thrived under this pressure, but it made him hyper-vigilant and sometimes ruthless in his approach to challenges. Erin's dreams of working for the Department of Mysteries had been transferred to him, along with her bitter determination to prove that a Ramsay could achieve what others thought impossible. Though he had no intentions of following in her footsteps once he more room to breathe from her constant hovering.

The Ramsay family lived in a narrow Victorian terraced house on a quiet street in Stratford, East London. The neighbourhood was a mix of wizarding and Muggle families, which meant Octavian had some exposure to the non-magical world, though it was limited and largely superficial.

Their house was squeezed between a Muggle family with two young children and an elderly wizard who kept a garden full of Screaming Mandrakes that were silenced during daylight hours. The Ramsay house was three stories tall but narrow.

Octavian's bedroom was on the second floor, overlooking the small back garden where Erin grew the herbs she used for her arithmancy calculations. His room was neat, organized, and filled with the textbooks his mother provided to keep him ahead of his classmates. A small desk by the window served as his study area, where he would spend hours memorizing magical theory or working through mathematical problems that wouldn't be taught at Thornfield for another two years.

Living in a mixed neighbourhood meant Octavian had regular contact with Muggles, though he found them largely uninteresting. The family next door had two children roughly his age--Emma and James--who occasionally invited him to play football in the street or join them for trips to the local park. Octavian sometimes participated, more out of politeness than genuine interest, though he got ridiculously competitive about football.

At five years of age, Octavian sat hunched over the kitchen table, a piece of parchment spread before him, his small fingers gripping a quill with determination. The letter Q was his nemesis--no matter how carefully he traced it, the curve always came out crooked, the tail either too short or wandering in the wrong direction.

"Again," his mother had said earlier, her voice carrying that familiar edge of disappointment. She'd given him extra writing practice after reviewing his previous attempts, and Octavian was determined to make her proud.

But the 'Q' refused to cooperate. Each attempt seemed worse than the last, the ink smearing as he pressed too hard, his frustration building with every crooked curve. He could feel the tightness in his chest, the way his jaw clenched when things didn't go according to plan--a feeling that would become intimately familiar as he grew older.

When Erin entered the room, steam rising from her afternoon tea, she moved to stand behind him, her presence looming over his small frame. "Let me see your progress," she said, leaning down to examine his work.

Octavian attempted the letter one more time, his tongue poking out slightly in concentration. But again, the 'Q' emerged misshapen, its tail curling in entirely the wrong direction. The spike of frustrated anger that shot through him was so intense it felt like something inside him had snapped.

The teacup in his mother's hand exploded.

Hot tea splashed across the table, and ceramic shards scattered across the floor. Octavian froze, his eyes wide with shock, but when he looked up at his mother, he saw something unexpected in her expression--not anger, but satisfaction. Her lips curved into the first genuine smile he'd seen from her in weeks.

"Well done," she said quietly, vanishing the mess with a flick of her wand. "That's my boy."

Eleanor is small-sized, almost fragile-looking girl with long, blonde hair. Her eyes are almost shockingly blue, and it sometimes feels like they even shined their blue color around her. Eleanor has very pale skin, but she does still look healthy and lively girl. Eleanor often has her hair open, framing her child-round face. If required to tie, she has one single braid coming over her right shoulder. Eleanor has a mesmerizing smile, and her laughter tends to make people forget their sorrows, as like it was magical.

𝑀𝑒𝓃𝓉𝒶𝓁 𝒹𝑒𝓈𝒸𝓇𝒾𝓅𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃
Eleanor might seem shy at first, but she has a quick mind and sharp tongue when needed. Eleanor loves to laugh with friends and is a trustworthy partner once gotten known with. Eleanor loves learning and exploring and is sometimes even too eager, curious and fearless towards new challenges. Eleanor is said to have pure soul, and she sees good in everything and everyone. However, when facing injustice Eleanor is quick-tempered and might get herself in troubles with her quick and imprudent words.

Her parents have a strong belief that with studies Eleanor will be very perfectionist, since she always wants to learn more and more. Eleanor is said to be most excited about Herbology and Magical Beasts, while potionmaking seems to not wake huge excitement in her. As keen herbologist, her mother is only pleased on Eleanor's enthusiasm, while Eleanor's father hopes something more "lucrative" career for her daughter, as he always states it.

𝐵𝒶𝒸𝓀𝑔𝓇𝑜𝓊𝓃𝒹
Eleanor was born in 28th September, 2013, exactly at noon. Eleanor is her parents' only child, so she has learned to play and spend time on herself. Luckily her three cousins from her mother's side live close to their house, and she often plays with them nearby. Unfortunately Eleanor’s cousins are attending to another wizarding school according to their parents wishes, so in the future they are able to meet only during holidays.

While on her own, Eleanor loves to explore and admire nature and its wonders. Sometimes it seems like Eleanor was one with the nature, and especially rivers and forests seem to be like second home for her. In addition to exploring nature Eleanor loves animals – even if their family never had any. Eleanor loves also books, and with interesting book her attention is difficult to be drawn elsewhere.

Eleanor's both parents graduated from Hogwarts being Ravenclaws, and magic has always been part of their everyday-lives. However, Eleanor's parents haven't taught her much, letting her safely explore her talents on her own. They also want most of her knowledge to come from Hogwarts, since their own experiences from school are highly positive.

After receiving Hogwarts acceptance letter, Eleanor didn’t talk about anything else. She was sure to be sorted into Ravenclaw as her parents, but her parents were amazingly supportive and told her that it wouldn’t matter what house she belonged in – as long as she would remain true to herself, and not lose herself in house’s possible stereotypes. From Hogwarts Eleanor hopes to find new friends – she wishes to know someone from every house. She also is even a bit too eager about the courses, since she listed the most interesting topics of every subject in her diary before leaving for Hogwarts.

𝐹𝒾𝓇𝓈𝓉 𝒾𝓃𝓈𝓉𝒶𝓃𝒸𝑒 𝑜𝒻 𝓂𝒶𝑔𝒾𝒸
First time Eleanor showed her magical abilities when she was 5 years old. She was once again playing with his cousins, when one of the boys dropped his toy from a tree, breaking it. Cousin was very upset since the toy was his recent birthday gift, and Eleanor felt bad for him. Then she accidentally repaired her cousin's toy without even touching it. Eleanor still isn't completely sure how she did repair it, but it seems to happen only with strong will to help others. That was the time her parents started to worry if her good will would get her into troubles when growing older.

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Part-Veela
Describe why this fits your character:
Reducio
Lorenzo’s magical Italian grandfather on his mother‘s side was the one who first brought Veela blood into the family tree. While on a business trip to Western Russia, the wizard encountered a Veela. Her blonde hair and luminous, pale face carved longing into his heart the moment he laid his eyes upon the stunning creature. What followed it, was an almost unmatched display of perseverance, determination and iron will. The Italian abandoned all his previous buisness and life-plans and devoted himself entirely to impressing the beautiful woman. His decisions were influenced by his new found mission, as if his life depended on the success of courting her. It took nearly two years before Lorenzo’s grandfather and his Veela grandmother came to see themselves in supposed love. They remained in Russia together until the birth of Lorenzo’s mother a few years after.

Unfortunately, their little family could not outlast the Veela’s inherent restlessness. They separated within months of her birth. The exact reason and whether it truly was due to a Veela‘s nature; and how it all unfolded; was never shared with Lorenzo. However, what he does know is that his grandfather returned to Italy with his young daughter, Lorenzo‘s Mother. They settled in the italian family estate in the town where his grandfather had grown up. Lorenzo’s mother, born half-Veela, inherited only her mother‘s fair skin and blue eyes. The thick dark hair and lashes came from her italian father’s side. Being a witch, she grew up in Italy with a beauty and temper that made her memorable wherever she went and for whomever she smiled. Of her schooling and the years between her childhood and meeting Lorenzo’s father, a thick fog circles the available informations. Despite asking from time to time, his father seems to either not care or not know about it himself.

The next details Lorenzo ever heard, gleaned from stories and offhand remarks, begin with the her and his father‘s early marriage. She was living in central Italy when she met Lorenzo’s father, a man from the south whose stern principles, dominant bearing, and dark eyes reportedly exerted a powerful fascination on her. According to family lore, this was the reason heultimately convinced her to marry him after a short courtship. Lorenzo suspects it may also have had something to do with his Grandfather (her father) dying shortly before, leaving his Mother, at just twenty, suddenly alone. But that, he knows, is only his childish speculation.

Three months after their marriage, Lorenzo was born; carrying a quarter Veela blood. His blue eyes came from his mother, while his darker complexion, by all accounts, was a legacy of his southern Italian heritage. Tragically, Lorenzo’s mother died young, before she could get to properly teach Lorenzo the meaning of being Part-Creature. Of all things, her beauty became her undoing: rumor had it that a jealous woman orchestrated an “accident” around her.
The exact circumstances were never disclosed to Lorenzo, supposedly to protect him. But in truth, her death was the result of the Killing Curse, cast with the incantation Avada Kedavra.
His father’s former lover, replaced by Lorenzo’s mother as her beauty began to fade, had spent months afterward trying to heal from a broken heart through both medical and professional help. But the despair twisted into frustration and rage, ultimately manifesting in a premeditated attempt to murder Lorenzo’s mother.
When confronted, she made no effort to deny the reason for her hatred: jealousy of the woman’s eternal beauty, and of the fact that she, unlike herself, had inspired Lorenzo’s father to finally commit.

That loss in connection to beauty hardened his father’s hand. Children who admired Lorenzo were deliberately kept away, and his circumstances gradually shifted into a life of near-accidental isolation. Private tutors replaced the plans for elite private prep-schools. But attendance at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was never meant to be touched by this change. While Lorenzo’s father would have preferred to lock his part-Veela son away in a tower to protect him from an end like his mother’s, he also did not want him to grow up entirely without social contact or any semblance of a normal life.

Character Backstory:
Reducio
Lorenzo is a native-born Italian child. After the sudden death of his Part-Veela mother, caused by an envious other women and the killing curse, his father moved to England to bask in the privileges of Old-Money accessed English high society (Charity Events, Networking) and to escape the perceived danger in Italy. Her death being the result of her beauty has hardened the man's hand in regards to how strict and accidentally-isolating he raised Lorenzo in his early years. The Vincenti family has lived the old-money lifestyle for generations. A strict work ethic; shaped by morally grey decisions, produced the unyielding mantra that each successive Vincenti must expand the business model and secure the family’s generational wealth. For this reason, Lorenzo’s father, Mr. Vincenti, integrated him early into a rigid, carefully orchestrated routine. Private tutors supplemented general education with additional subjects like early financial literacy (presented in a child-appropriate way).
Even for his basic magical instruction, Lorenzo was assigned private tutors. The result was a family life of high expectations and an almost only intellectual relationship with his father, his only close relative. Because of this, Lorenzo formed most of his friendships with the adult staff in the Vincenti household: the housekeeper, the cooks, the secretaries and liaisons.
Though overall, Lorenzo would still describe himself as grateful for his family circumstances. Despite the strict structures and his father’s ever-watchful eyes, his young heart nurtures a sense of trust toward the older Vincenti. He is keenly aware of the advantages of his early, thorough education and genuinely enjoys spending time absorbed in his studies and preparations. The first-year student looks forward to Hogwarts as the next chapter of his life, and doesn‘t at all make a secret out of it. His father is approving of this spirit, despite hesitations on sending him.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio

Lorenzo’s first experience with magic happened when he was six years old. It wasn’t particularly spectacular, nor good timing. On a Sunday night, just before a math test the next morning, he had crawled under his blanket with a copy of Anne of Green Gables and tried to read at least two chapters before falling asleep.
Soon his blue eyes grew heavy, his hands weak, and after half an hour the book slipped from his grasp and landed painfully harsh on his face. The shock jolted him wide awake! Driven by his startled emotions, the blanket whipped into the air and pinned itself like a ghost over the small chandelier above his bed. The six year old had some explaining to do the next morning
