Are there any do's and don't's for roleplaying siblings?

@Rose Moon, the do's is that it has to be friendly for Hogwarts.io's younger users, and that it should represent a somewhat close bond or relationship to somebody unless you are biological or something similar siblings. The dont's are as you might know not being very family friendly. Hope this helps!

Siblings or in general family members or old friends from home are dNPCs. Other than iNPCs, which are open for applications from time to time, dNPCs only exist because of your PC and are only meant to be in threads, that your PC is in as well, as far as I know, though letters/owls might be an exception (I would ask a staffmember about that one though).

And yes, of course the basic site rules apply.

It doesn't really matter what kind of siblings they are (friendly or mean) but you can only roleplay your own character. Mentioning family members and describing what they do, even having a brief interaction is fine but you can't roleplay as the sibling. For example (The main character is Holly but her elder sister is only a NPC):

Holly saw her older sister chatting with her housemates at the Gryffindor table, it didn't take long for her to notice Holly and she waved at her with a bright smile. Holly waved back but her own smile was small, she really hoped that she could be sorted into the same House as her older sister but no, the Sorting Hat decided she would do well in the Slytherin House where she could become a great witch in the future.

^This example above is perfectly fine when mentioning her siblings in a post.

What Opeila said is correct, here is another example that you can't do in an RP while adding siblings in the post, because it will be like you're roleplaying two main characters which is against the rule:

Mary (Holly's older sister) knew her younger sister wouldn't be disappointed to be in another House but since she was the oldest sibling, she decided to cheer her sister up so she whispered to her dormmates aka her best friends: "Hey Viola, Sara. I want to make a surprise for my cute little sister, perhaps I can bring her some chocolate frogs, what do you think?"
