Angel Colette Dayes, no one knew that she'd be the type to go in Hogsmeade and some would think she would wait a year. The swan agreed, but gave an exception to continue her studies with herbs and poisons. Your character who also had their own business being in the wrong place was curious perhaps amused that the girl who didn't seem fit to be in Hogsmeade was right there in the flesh her wearabouts was here. Whether this turns in a battle of wits or interregation was up to the two. They knew a bit about each other already so excuses were tedious.

Being in the grounds, she preferred to be alone with her thoughts only this time. Reading her classic Agatha Christie book she has been seen getting her nose stuck in it. Your character either finds nostalgia on what they used to do back in their younger years or perhaps find the girl amusingly mysterious and quiet. Not like the other common troubled angsty kids who had hidden weaponry or anything behind the scenes of their past, and hated authority with all their might. Angel was confusing and puzzling, looks like an open book but when you get to it a lock seals it. Nevertheless a quick chat was proposed and the girl seemed to take you as a role model. This makes your character ambitious to have a mentee by their side.

This would be the first instead of mentoring, Angel would be the one mentored and perhaps found a new role model to look up to.

Meeting another big brother (and becoming friends)

RPG storyline idea: Your character is also a big brother of a sibling of up to 4 years old. (Edward's sister is 3 years old.) They can exchange experiences and maybe become friends over this shared situation they are in. They might have met and found out about this shared situation because one of them was reading a book on babies/toddlers and the other one notices and starts a conversation (e.g. in Ravenclaw common room, on the train, in the library etc.). Or they are both at the icecream parlour in Diagon Alley (in July) and your sibling is dropping their scoop (almost) and Ed notices and uses a levitation charm to prevent the icecream from touching the floor and they get into a conversation.
After that first RP there could be also follow-up RPs of them exchanging experiences and tips or just becoming friends.

The part on baby/toddler experience can be RPed explicitly, with kind of real tips but can be kept also more abstract. The friendship part may range from casual RP to more complex.

O.W.L. study partners

RPG storyline idea: Ed put a poster up to the notice boards around Hogwarts to find a study partner for preparing for O.W.L.s during his 5th year. Depending on the interest in this, there could be multiple study partners for various classes (Edward is planning to do OWLs in all classes but that may change. His least favourite classes are divination, herbology and care of magical creatures, so he might drop them at some point.) or one partner who also wants to cover multiple classes. Each RP (study session) would cover a different topic from the class's syllabus of year 5 or even below (review). They would discuss lesson content, practicing spells, doing homework (in-character) etc.

Ideally this would be long-term for the whole school year with multiple threads for various lesson topics to be covered. But of course study partnerships can stop or new ones be established during the year.

Notes:

This is purely in character! Thus, it's not about OOC homework exchange but RPing about them doing homework in character. I would ask respective teachers beforehand whether RP about the actual content is allowed but I think there are plenty of HP-related lore information from harry potter wiki or spells that could be discussed and practiced otherwise.

Unknown and unexpected feelings (a romance)

RPG storyline idea: Edward and your character meet and they get closer. Your character should be a boy as well and that's a new territory for Edward, unknown and unexpected and definitely not something he had forseen for his OWL year but he develops these feelings. Your character might either also has this as a new experience or they already came out and are on the more secure side, maybe even slightly pushing it forward, while Ed is rather insecure and hesitant in the beginning. Preferably this develops into something long-term.

I would like this to be rather long-term but it's not set in stone that they even get together or stay together. I know that sometimes things change (both IC and OOC), thus if at some point it does not fit from either side, it can be ended.

This will be a major development and quite complex.

I would be quite picky on that one and maybe even take the first RP(s) to test out the fit.

I also think it requires a bit of more planning outside of actual RP (OWLs or discord).

Tutoring (in-character)

RPG storyline idea: Edward provides tutoring on lesson content or spell casting / potion brewing practice. He hung up a message on various notice boards across the castle to offer one-on-on or small group tutoring session. These would be free for first years, 1 sickel per session for second years and 2 sickels per session for third years.

RPG storyline idea: This idea takes one of the Ravenclaw dormitory's traditions into action: During thunderstorms, a group of students gather for a brainstorming session - exchanging ideas, discussing theories, debating (friendly), sharing knowledge etc. The topic could be decided beforehand or evolve during the session.

The encounter on the train

Houses preferences : any house works, as the setting is pre-Hogwarts. It would be fun if the characters got sorted into the same house—they could be dormmates. If not, then it would give Vivienne variety in acquaintances.
Years preferences : any year works! But I think year 1 would work best with what I have in mind.
Location and setting: The Hogwarts Express, they would share the same cabin on the train to the school, 1st Sept 2026
Your RPG storyline idea: The characters share seats in the Hogwarts Express and become acquaintances, gradually maybe even friends. As the RP will be consisting of 3 to 4 people including Vivienne, it would open doors for interesting dynamics amongst each other. I'm open to any and all perceptions the characters would have of each other, two people could dislike each other's guts meanwhile another pair hangs out even after reaching Hogwarts. Or they could all become great friends.

Academic Rivalry

Houses preferences : any house works, again.
Years preferences: 1st years only, as an academic rivalry concept would only make sense if they were in the same year.
Location and setting: This is going to be a thread of RPs, most probably. Could start with a small RP in which they notice each other answering in class and earning points for their houses, and then they could stumble across each other outside of class. The details need to be figured out, this is just a rough sketch.
Other Prerequisites: Your character must excel academically. I would prefer a character who's backstory, or some past RP, states their academic standing. Your character needs to be generally smart.
Your RPG storyline idea: The characters are both academic weapons who just feel the need to be better than the other. The rivalry doesn't have to be hostile. It can range anywhere from playful and sarcastic to intensely competitive, depending on character dynamics. As the years progress, they may grow to respect one another or just remain stubborn.
