Character Special Race/Talent: Metamorphmagus (504 Words)
Reducio

Edith was born a healthy baby, crying but healthy nonetheless. She had a head full of brownish-red hair, a trait from her mother. Her parents would smile as they cooed at the crying newborn, who was wailing like a siren going off. But the gentle moment was cut short, and her parents quickly exchanged glances, attempting to process what they had just witnessed.

Their daughter’s amber hair had turned golden.

Small gasps were heard; it had come from the midwives.

Hushed whispers began as one stepped forward, gently taking the crying Edith as she began to soothe the child before looking at the confused parents. Four words would be said, a whisper curled in amazement.

"She is a metamorphmagus."

The room would fall silent. Madeline's eyes would widen, shock evident in her expression. How was that possible? She had not heard of such a gift in her family, but then again...

Madeline never knew what had happened to her great-grandfather.

Her eyes would flicker over to her newborn daughter before looking at her husband, who was looking at a calmer Edith. Shock also displayed in his gaze, until they softened as the midwife said, "The girl will be one for the books." Madeline would look back at the midwife, then at Edith, before smiling gently.

"That she will…" Her father would whisper as he noticed his wife smile.

Madeline would nod in agreement before she extended her hands, gesturing that she wanted to hold the sleeping Edith. Whispering a low promise once Edith was in her arms.

The promise was kept; Madeline always made sure to remind Edith that her talent was something to be proud of. Though Edith was a toddler who did not fully comprehend why her skin would turn a baby blue every time she would feel sad that their story times came to an end and she had to sleep, or why her peers would point at her hair turning a bright pink from laughing too hard.

Was there something wrong with her?

She found solace in books, comfort in the serenity of stillness. Her parents would often find her sitting between the tall grass as she read. Mumbling to herself the poetry written on thick cotton pages, no longer caring to hide how her eyes that followed each stanza would turn a lovely red. Edith read, she read to the tall grass, to the wind that swept across her face, the well that provided the water she would help her mother retrieve. Heck, she would read to the chickens and flowerbeds. Her words would dance as she stood and read with her heart on her sleeve, and she loved every single minute of it.

Utterly lost in her own little world of fairytales and magic.

Her mother would tell her fairytales were everywhere, the way a flower would blossom and shrivel, the smell of fresh-baked bread in the mornings, how the soil beneath her feet would feed life.

That just like her, magic had its own story to tell.

Character Backstory: 809 words
Reducio
André Alarie was a pureblood wizard who attended Durmstrang Institute and met a witch by the name of Madeline Auclair during a competition at Beauxbatons. Madeline Auclair was a young wizardborn who happened to be attending the competition in support of a friend, who was competing, when she stumbled into the young André. A conversation that would continue well into their evening was the flint and steel to the sparks that came by the time the competition was over.

The young couple kept in touch, sending letters and poetry. Eventually, growing up and deciding to get married, André proposed to Madeline. The proposal was small, intimate, theirs. With a whisper of the word yes, the two agreed to move into a large manor in the French countryside. A vow was ushered in the form of a poem filled with longing and devotion as the French winds danced around them. Madeline would later be known to tell Edith that she got her love for literature from them.

Lady Edith was born in 1999 on the 9th of May to her parents, André and Madeline Alarie. Her first breath was drawn in the cozy Alarie Manor, hidden in the humble French Vézelay commune. The sound of her first cry warmed the candle-lit room as her parents welcomed her before exchanging a glance once they saw a rather peculiar sight.

Lullabies and storybooks were sung and read to her as the days went by, and soon enough, the young Edith became a toddler. The walls that were once filled by cries eased into those of laughter. She was quite an energetic child. Running around as she caused mischief in her wake.

Leaving handprints and scribbles on the walls.

She would spend her time reading and roaming the garden as her mother played with her. Eating sweets as they sang the song her mother loved. Her amber eyes would squint in the sunlight as she helped water the flowers and plants that grew on her family's grounds.

Edith knew she was a bit different from the rest of her peers; her mother had explained to her that it was just out of her control. That she was born a Metamorphmagus, that the talent was a gift.

If only her peers saw it that way.

She could not control when it happened, her reddish hair would turn pink, or her eyes would change a different color. Small changes that should not have made her any different from the next girl beside her... but it did. Whispers of a metamorphmagus among them would follow her no matter where she went, and her brightness dimmed as she attempted to fit in. Attempted to hide what others had deemed a fault.

Until she met a young boy.

Her mother would tell her she was a hopeless romantic with the way she would read and sigh as the emotions that laced into the ink of a poem seemed to tug at a string of her heart. Stories always held a deeper meaning for her, something that she herself could not quite explain.

Edith had grown up hearing stories before bed and dreaming of what can only be described as a fairytale story. The story of the two young lovers sending each other letters, promising forever, seemed to have only fueled her notion of what romance was.

Unfortunately, love was not always as it seems.

The boy she had grown up with changed his demeanor towards her. Edith could feel the light he had once helped shine, dim once again. The soft eyes he once looked at her, hardened with indifference, and all that was left was the shell of a memory.

A promise long forgotten.

A fiancé no longer.

She had always thought her life would be like her parents, falling for the one she would one day call her other half. Building a life in a nice home, but the house no longer felt like home. Rather, a blank space, something she had to leave before she lost herself with it. A letter arrived at her residence not long after. Was it an invitation? A sign?

A reminder to keep her light burning?

She would show the letter to her distant fiancé, hoping that a breath of the Scottish air would be what was needed for them. Only to be met with an enraged expression and harsh words. The sound of glass shattering and loud voices were left behind as she hugged and waved her parents goodbye before boarding a carriage to Scotland.

An engagement ring missing from her left hand.

Though each step led her farther from what she once knew, her cute shoes could lead her to a different view.

Of a great lake, children running around, and the sight of books.

Or so the Librarian pamphlet that an old friend had sent her claimed.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Edith was merely 5 years old when her accidental display of magic occurred. It was brief, unexpected to say the least. She had been listening to her mother read her a bedtime story, overjoyed to listen to the same story for what would have been the 45th time.

Children, what can one say? They do love a good bedtime story.

Going into a giggling spree as the story took the expected turn, something unexpected turned as well, a page. Her mother would gasp and giggle with Edith, who was unaware of what she had just done.

Character Backstory: Gabriele is the youngest middle-child out of five to a high-profile italian man, who have made headlines in his youth for being a heartthob all throughout his life, and when he came out as gay at 20 years old. It caused on outrage in his conservative religious family where image is everything, but their abusive grandfather died long before he could meet any of his grandchildren. They are distantly related to old italian monarchy- symbolic more than anything, but the legacy of expectations lives on. His dad Philippe, now a retired ballet dancer on top of his celebrity status, married his assistant- a hardworking talian man from a humble upbringing. Together they had five children; The oldest twins Fransisco and Rosetta, Antonio, Gabriele and Belladonna.

Despite his fabulous upbringing as figurative italian royalty, the Ricci-Armani kids has lived surprisingly humble compared to what they could have lived. Don't get me wrong, they were spoiled rotten, but they are not quite as arrogant and entitled as his father Philippe. But Gabi is by far the most rebellious out of all the kids. Not for any particular reason really, he just doesn't like people telling him what to do. And god knows his dads Beppe and Philippe has plenty of opinions about how things should be, and how to behave. Gabi doesn't follow rules.

The family moved to England to get out of the italian spotlight.
First Instance of Magic: Gabi was a late bloomer compared to his siblings, and didn't discover his own magic until he was 10. It happened when he bullied his older brother Antonio and accidentally made him fart uncontrollably.

Physical Description:
What you are looking at may not always be what it seems to be.
A young, Russian-Bulgarian boy, with a slightly severe manner of being.
He has long, thick black, shoulder-length hair. Long enough to hide his face beneath its silky curtains.
His inky black eyes are like pools of blood, watching, waiting. For something or someone, who knows.
When you look at him, you notice his height. 5'3, an inch taller than most of his peers.
This would make him stand out in a crowd, if he wasn't so good at escaping notice.
He has pale features, glowing as the moon, with high cheek-bones to accent a slightly angular face.
Handsome, would be a word to describe him perfectly.
Harsh, would be another, if you caught him in the light.
His hair frames his face in such a way that it gives him an ethereal quality.
His lips are soft, and full, but look like they rarely upturn into a smile.
He has a strange, jagged scar on the palm of his right hand from the first time he used magic.

Mental Description:
Quiet, but not shy. Doesn't speak much, but when he does, it sounds like leaves falling in a forest.
Peaceful enough that it reaches to the depths of your soul.
His persona prefers to hide away with books in the trees and secret passageways that no one knows.
He likes philosophy, for the fact that you can challenge life, your existence, the only true relief from the life that he leads, brings him a sense of clarity.
He has 7 names.
4 middle names, 1 first name, and 2 last names, curtesy of a mother who was far too eccentric for his father. Drago himself is eccentric, just in a less obvious way, though as so, on as you get talking with him, it soon shows.

Biography:
Drago Volkov Voronin Krasny Morozov Thanatos-Kholodov was born on the frozen morning of the 1st of October, 2012. His parents, Adrik Thanatos-Kholodov and Ranavalona Thanatos-Kholodov, were pleased by his birth as the first born, and the first born son of the Thanatos-Kholodov line.
He was brought up by house-elves, because his parents were occupied elsewhere. Specifically his father.
His mother tried to be there for him, but her mental health was slowly declining. On his 5th birthday, she disappeared. His father searched far and wide but she was nowhere to be found.
Before his 5th birthday, he spoke very little, but after that spectacle, it left an imprint on his little mind that he could not forget.
No matter how hard everyone tried to get him to speak, he refused, and didn't speak a word until his 10th birthday.
His father tried everything. He pleaded, he begged, he even screamed and ranted about how it wasn't proper that a Thanatos-Kholodov should behave in that manner.
But he just looked up at his father with big, black eyes and refused to speak.
First Instance of Magic:
His first instance of magic happened at the age of 3.
He was attempting to get his father's attention, because he had drawn what he thought in his young, childish mind, what was a very good horse.
His father paid to attention to him, being engaged in matters far more pressing in his opinion.
Then again, anything was far more pressing to Adrik Thanatos-Kholodov than looking at a picture his son drew.
His mother tried to lure him away, saying that his father would look at it later.
He was not convinced.
He finally got so worked up and upset that the curtain that he was standing next to caught fire.
He burned his hand on it, having been holding and yanking on them to get his father's attention.
Adrik finally looked up when he heard his son's anguished cries.
Despite their best efforts, the burn mark could not be removed completely because it was too severe.
It had covered his entire palm, but was finally reduced to something smaller.
He always remained with a jagged scar, stretching from the tip of his middle finger, to the left side of his hand where the wrist meets the palm.
It was shaped like a tree, a fern, or like a burning inferno.
He liked the way it looked on him, so when they found a solution to completely remove it a year later, he refused.

Character Backstory:

Delphinus comes from a wealthy, pure-blood family with much power and secrets that most of the Wizarding World doesn’t know. Still, the wealth visible to the public is enough to gain respect and fear. Due to her family’s skepticism towards general education, Delphinus received her early education in a private academy co-founded by other pure-blood families.

Her father, Elio, is the head of the house and a businessman with influence in the Ministry. Her mother, Elara, pursues her artistic passions with the support of both her husband and her maiden family. She runs a charity and manages a gallery with frequent patronage from fellow relations. Albert, Delphinus’s older brother, is rarely home and often abroad with his work as a Trade Liaison for the International Magical Trading Standards Body division of the Department of International Magical Co-operation. To compensate for his time away, Albert often brings home rare or imported collections that his mother and sister are most delighted to receive. As such, the siblings share a deep bond despite their physical distance, and would keep the other updated through owls and floo.

Delphinus is a pure-blood witch with long, wavy blond hair and greyish-green eyes. She has a pale complexion and a small mole under the tail of her right eye. When not wearing her school uniform, she likes to dress in Dark Academia outfits, always with her family brooch, a ring with a "D" engraving, and a necklace she sometimes wears for luck.

Delphinus is often seen as aloof and posh, as she was told from a young age to hide her emotions to protect her from prying eyes, and to maintain the elegance of the family. When she’s in a bad mood, she can come off as even more distant, though those who don’t know her well may mistake it for her usual demeanor. Around her close ones, however, Delphinus lets her mask fall and becomes more expressive and acts closer to her age. Xander will say she’s just lazy and indifferent towards what she deems unnecessary interactions, and she may actually just be in her mindspace when people drown her in fruitless babble. However, all indifference is lost when Delphinus is working on her research, she’s passionate and completely focused on her task and one can’t expect to distract her then.

If Xander is around, you can expect the two to bicker, showing a more lively side of Delphinus. The two would even quarrel over drinks – Delphinus advocating for teas, especially Earl Grey and English-Breakfast, while Xander swears coffee is the better beverage. Delphinus’s memory is excellent, which helps her in both her studies and when seeking vengeance. Even though she seems aloof, Delphinus sometimes feels lonely and gets lost in her thoughts, which can make her melancholy. She tends to overthink things, leading to dark moments that even her closest friends might not see. Only Xander can sometimes sense when something is wrong and knows where to find her before she completely shuts down.

Besides Xander Kensington, Delphinus is also close with Sylvana Viotto, both are from families of similar status. The three grew up together and went to the same academy together. Xander is witty and challenges the norm, which leads to playful arguments with Delphinus. Sylvana is a fashionista and can be arrogant, but she’s loyal to Delphinus and has the strongest dislike of Muggle-borns among the three.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Delphinus experienced her first instance of accidental magic shortly after her fifth birthday. Raised to be polite and graceful, moments of uncontrolled behavior were unusual for her. One afternoon, while Albert was home, the two were drawing together. Delphinus completed a piece she was proud of, and Albert enhanced it with a touch of magical shimmer. Inspired, Delphinus wanted to try, even though she didn’t yet know how.

While she was focusing, Xander burst into the gallery, eager to showcase his new toy broomstick. Unfortunately, however, the young gentleman did not have the most grace coming in and effectively destroyed Delphinus's hard work by skidding to a stop, failing, tripping over paint and paintbrush, and sending all of that right over to the painting. Delphinus, furious, lost control and accidentally sent Xander flying out into the garden, landing him in the rose bed that had inspired her painting. Albert was frozen in shock, only coming back to his senses after Xander flew past, surprised by Delphinus’s unexpected magic.

Character Backstory:

Robin is an only child who preferred books and animals to other children. Despite spending most of her time alone, she was perfectly happy and never felt disconnected. Robin likes to observe the room and see what's happening around her. She loves all animals but she especially loves frogs, cats, and crows. Robin has befriended multiple crows in her neighborhood. She leaves them food and in return they bring her shiny trinkets and coins. They recognize her and seek her out when she is outside.

Robin's mother Lilith Grimborn, previously Lilith Blackwood, is a witch who came from a pureblood house and works in a magical animal sanctuary, Her father Thomas Grimborn, is a muggle who teaches at a university. After Lilith left Hogwarts she distanced herself from her family after an argument about her marrying pureblood. Her parents wished for her to marry into a pureblood family immediately, and Lilith wanted to experience new things before deciding on a path.

Lilith left home and traveled with a particular interest in what the muggle world had to offer. She met Thomas while on her travels and was excited to meet a real muggle professor who could teach her all she wished to know bout the other world. The two dated for two years, and in that time Lilith reconnected with her parents as they decided having a relationship with their daughter was more important that who she married. As long as she was happy and taken care of they were content. Ultimately the two married with the blessing of both families and two years later Robin was born. The trio lived in the muggle world until Robin began showing signs of accidental magic, then decided it was best to integrate into the magical world, Lilith getting a job at her fathers magical animal sanctuary, and Thomas taking over child care full time as he tutored Robin in math, science, muggle history, and reading.

Robin is close to her mothers parents, she often spent summers at their house during her primary years. Since her father taught her about the muggle world, her grandmother taught her about the magical world while she stayed over. Her grandmother was a bit worried that Robin being taken care of by a muggle would separate her from her magical roots, and insisted on keeping her often. This caused friction between Lilith and her mother, but Lilith agreed as the child care was appreciated and Robin loves spending time with her grandparents.
She is a bit disappointed that she wont be able to spend as much time with them now that she is at boarding school, and will therefore spend her summers mostly at home, but is excited to see them over breaks. Her grandfather often takes her to quidditch games and her grandmother reads magical fairy tales to her. Her grandmother was a prefect when she was in school, and Robin dreams of following her footsteps.

First Instance of Magic: Robin's first bout of accidental magic was turning her cat into a stuffed toy at 5 (The cat was unharmed after Lilith fixed her). Robin had wanted to cuddle with the cat that night, but the cat being a cat was not a fan of being squeezed by a child. The cat struggled and scratched which frustrated the 5 year old until the cat suddenly became a stuffed toy!

Reason for Pending:
1. Why did Robin's mother, who eventually works in wizarding community, take courses in muggle university? You need to explain more if you want to keep this. Keep in mind that wizarding and muggle worlds are very distinct, especially a pureblood. There's also collision between magic and electricity which makes electronic devices often don't work near wizard. Wizarding community also have their own advance education schools. If you need an excuse how Robin's parents met, I would suggest to change the way. For example, they could meet in a forest where her mother was doing some tasks such as collecting some plants or looking for escaped magical creatures while her father was doing some research in the forest, in case his study was related to nature. My owl is open for this discussion so we can look the most possible way without breakinf the lore.
2. The first instance of magic is read intentional. Your character wished something and her wish came true in the exact form. Keep in mind that first instance of magic must be accidental. This post will give you further information. My suggestion is making Robin struggling to hug the cat without her wishing that her cat would be turn into anything. This frustration would result in an accident where her cat petrified for some seconds. I'm also open for this discussion.

Vincent Balfour was born in Scotland to a Muggle mother and a magical father. His father is a strict, highly work-focused wizard who works in the field of Magical Law in Dundee, Scotland. There, he owns a registered office specializing in the authentication of magical artifacts. They had moved and lived there ever since in a more secluded muggle-neighborhood, that offers a discrete travel to the magical side of Dundee.

It was there, Vincent was home-schooled by his father. This gave him a strong foundation in age-appropriate general- as well as magical education. While his father constantly urged him to think critically, Vincent much preferred to spot the loopholes in plans and exploit them to reach his goals faster. Due to their differing natures, he and his father often clash, thus they do not share a close relationship.
This especially, is the reason Vincent misses his mother since she died. They had a close-knit relationship. She‘d taught him a lot about the Muggle world and shared Muggle hobbies and interests with Vincent before her car-accident. This was how he grew up familiar with things like smartphones, the internet and Television by her stories alone. It made it a whole lot easier for him to have and maintain friendships with Muggles, all without revealing the magical side of his family.

Thus in Dundee, Vincent found his sense of community through his Muggle friends—ones he met during mall trips and other events. Meeting up with them always requires a travel to the center of Dundee and more muggle-orientated City side. They aren't invited to Vincent's home, partially out of secrecy and partially because Vincent rather stays outside of his strict household with his father. Despite being close with his friends, Vincent has never had any trouble lying to them about his magical background. They believe he attends a strict boarding school somewhere in Switzerland. His excuse for the new life arrangement was: “Dad couldn’t be bothered to homeschool me anymore, I guess.”

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
His first experience with magic was at age 5, when his father caught him copying answers out of a math book. In that moment, every lightbulb burst like fireworks, and the ceiling lamp came crashing down onto his father’s head, rendering his old man unconscious.

Physical description:

Yohan Heavenly Nam looks like a wild horse straight out of a fairytale book. Long, golden, mane-esque hair frames his pale face, and his features are quite feminine as he takes after his mom, although they are slightly undefined because of his age, there is a strong promise of good looks in his future. A high nose bridge in between round, dark almond eyes. To accompany his sour attitude, his lips are petal like but turned into a permanent pout on his face, and the sweet smile he rarely shows off is paired with a single dimple in his right cheek. Yohan has expressive eyebrows, and a face that conveys exactly what he’s thinking at all times, even when it’s unwanted. Yohan, with his short stature, dresses with no taste, wearing whatever he thinks looks decent. Good thing Hogwarts has uniforms!

Mental diary:

Yohan is a… Character, an interesting character. Mainly raised by his homebody (and a bit agoraphobic) mother, he conveys a lot of traits that would seem awkward for an 11-year-old boy.

Yohan isn’t stupid, but he plays the part very well, so well some might even describe it as manipulative, but Yohan himself just says it’s all a good bit of fun, no one’s actually getting hurt. So this means when Yohan is asked what 1 + 1 was, he counts on his fingers. He can’t read the word dragonfly and he doesn’t know where exactly in America he lives, even though he lives in the UK.

He isn’t the kindest boy, and he doesn’t pretend to be. Impulsive, rude, outlandish, and aware of his First Amendment, he simply says whatever pops into his silly head. However, that being said, he is a people person. Whether you are a muggle, half-blood, pure blood, or any creature in between, Yohan is running his mouth to you, again whether you like it or not. Yohan loves, loves, loves to talk, and his voice is like honey to listen to, so at least there is a little benefit.

Yohan happens to be 101% a mama’s boy, through and through, and shamelessly at that. Maybe that’s the reason he has a vast collection of pony dolls in his room that’s decorated with pastels. He wouldn’t care in the least if he got a pink shirt instead of blue, or a bow in his hair instead of a bowtie, and although his character traits suggest it, Yohan Nam is absolutely not a crier. Another thing that could be considered peculiar, when a child falls and scrapes their knee, they shed at least a few tears right? Not him, he’ll just be upset with the inconvenience of actually falling down during his soccer game– The one trait he got from his father was his love for Muggle sports.

Life in Wales:

Yohan was raised 98% by his mother, Darling Nam. The woman is absolutely beautiful, but tragically out of touch with reality, having been stuck inside of her house since it was purchased by the two. Darling has definitely babied, coddled, smothered and spoiled her son beyond belief, but she was just her handsome baby boy, her only son. Because of her, Yohan has proudly adapted to the “I’m just a baby, gimme what I want,” mindset, and expects nothing less outside of his demands. The other 2% of his upbringing, where his father contributed, was filled with learning sports, learning the names of plants, and learning how to treat others (a skill Yohan has yet to master).

Not knowing discomfort economically, the idea of being without money is so foreign to the child. Being the only Nam child, he’s been the center of attention and has always gotten everything he’s asked for, and even things he hasn’t. His parents, especially his dear mother, were like mind-readers, granting every unspoken wish Yohan could think of, so yes, of course he was spoiled. A carton of milk in the back of the fridge with a sour smell.

Even with the big house and endless gifts, Yohan still felt lonely. His father was working his fancy job, and his mother was always distant from her son, as much as she tried to share her loving heart with him. Some days he would find his mother spacing out by the window, her heartbreakingly gorgeous face pulled into an expression that Yohan couldn’t quite figure out the meaning of. Maybe she was thinking of better times at that school he’d heard about, a magical one that she’d sometimes giggle about with him. “Oh the times I had!” She’d say, but she refused to talk about it around our neighbors at house parties. She’d groan afterwards, mumbling of their inability to conduct magic, calling them muggles.

First instance of magic:

The airplaning spoon of peas was supposed to go into the mouth of 4-year-old Yohan, propped up in a highchair. The toddler had swatted at the blue rubber spoon several times, yelling as soon as Dad pushed the mushy greens closer to his pouting lips, the peas flying everywhere. Yohan smiled a triumphant smile as Dad threw his hands up into the air with exasperation, muttering in his native tongue.

“Menace,” Dad had whispered under his breath, turning to his wife with the same pouty expression his son was just wearing. His wife, Yohan’s mother, Darling, scowled at him, not missing out on the small insult he threw at her son.

“Let me,” She took the spoon from her frustrated husband, turning to face Yohan again. Her red lips curved into a delicate smile, admiring the way Yohan sat so tall in his highchair, and the blue rubber spoon in her hand moved forward to feed the child. With no success, Yohan wailed, tiny fisted hands swooping the utensil out of her grasp. Mom gasped, and looked at Dad who was wearing a smug face on his handsome face. Huffing, and slightly red faced, Mom gracefully scooped up the spoon once again, looking at Yohan’s triumphant round toddler face.

“Say ahh, Heaven,” She cooed, and this time, without flinging his hand, just simply glancing at the blue spoon like it was his mortal enemy, the thing flew. All the way up, up, up, and hit the high-beamed ceilings, leaving the green stain of mushy peas on the paint above. Slowly, the couple turned away from their son, who was giggling, and looked at each other. Impressed was Yohan’s dad, but his mother, her eyes changed into something sad, somber, as if the path of magic wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. As if she meant to leave that part of herself behind when she married a muggle against her father’s will, ruining the pureblooded family. She meant to leave it when they moved to a muggle neighborhood, surrounded by dull but clueless people. She would’ve never thought that her life before would’ve followed her like a ghost, and possessed her child, turning him into a magical boy. She glowered at the stain on her ceiling while her Dad, laughing, twirled his son in his strong arms.

Character Backstory:
Julianna Hemingway was born to a fairly large family in Inistioge, Ireland. Despite being the child of a pureblood father, Luke Hemingway, she grew up around mostly muggles due to the influence of her muggle mother, Angelica. Due to that as well as the fact that her father avoided using magic since they lived around muggles, she grew up familiar with the concept of magic, but rarely actually saw it in action. Hogwarts will be quite a different experience for her, and the common usage of magic in day to day to life will shock and fascinate her.

Julianna grew up primarily an athlete, playing football and camogie from a relatively young age. On top of that, she attended her local public school, making a few friends. She was however closest to her teammates, out of her many acquaintances. Even to them, however, she was fairly distant, as she was introverted and often preferred to focus simply on giving the sports game her best shot. Her best friend in the entire world was her cousin, Evangeline Hemingway, who lived close to her, and the two spent many long hours together in the small town they grew up in.
Overall, Julianna had a fairly happy childhood. As long as she was able to excel at her sports and have relative freedom running about with Evangeline, she was happy. Sometimes she could be a wee bit petty, but in nothing serious, and she came to Hogwarts the same bright, happy, but somewhat quiet girl she had been since a young age.

First Instance of Magic: Her first instance of magic occurred when Julianna had just turned seven, meaning that instead of playing with the five and six year olds, as she had the year before, she was now going to play football with the seven and eight year olds. Of course that meant she was going from being one of the older, bigger children to one of the smaller children. At the flipping of a season, she went from one of the better players to one of the worse ones, in a change that frustrated Julianna. Soon, inexplicable things started happening. The first, most notable one was during a game where Julianna had just been substituted out. Frustrated, Julianna stood on the sidelines and glared at the girl who had replaced her. Why did that girl, who sucked at the game, replace her, who undoubtedly had talent? Julianna clenched her fists, wishing the girl would be hit by the ball- not enough to be seriously hurt, just enough to remove her from the game. Barely thirty seconds later, the girl who replaced her, while not hit by the ball, mysteriously got a (minor) nose bleed. Though there was no danger to life or limb, any player who was bleeding was not allowed to continue playing, so Julianna was substituted back in, where she managed to score a goal before the game was over. It was only her mother that suspected that the nosebleed might have been Julianna's doing. The other parents remained fortunately quite clueless.

Stace is born in a close-knit and loving family, with her mother, Elsie Cavendish, being a pure-blood witch and her dad, Lewis Halston, being a Muggle. Her mother loves magic but uses Muggle things like computers at home and finds them very convenient, thanks to her husband’s occupation. She has an older brother named Noah Halston, who’s currently in Y3, Gryffindor, and looks after Stace all the time. They have a cozy home in the Muggle suburbs of Inverness, with a secret greenhouse full of magical plants. Stace loves spending days there. She grows up reading both Muggle and magical books, watching Muggle TV shows, and Quidditch matches. She goes to a Muggle primary school before Hogwarts and makes many good friends.

Her Muggle paternal grandparents moved from the USA to Scotland in the 1970s, driven by the pursuit of better opportunities. They gave birth to Lewis Halston in 1980. He graduated from one of the top universities in the UK and worked as a high-paid software engineer. Elsie Cavendish, her mother, was born in Scotland the same year as her husband and raised with her pure blood family. She demonstrates a high interest in nature from a young age, plants and animals, and works for the Department of Magical Creatures. Stace's parents met in a local bookstore when they were both fresh out of school in Inverness and struck up a conversation. They met several times more there by “coincidence” and soon fell in love. Lewis is a bit startled when Elsie tells him about her identity and the magical world, but soon accepts it. They married in 2001. Elsie’s father is completely against her daughter marrying a Muggle, but her mother is rather progressive. The daughter had a huge clash with her father when she brought young Stace to visit them, and Elsie never brought Stace to her grandparents ever since.

Once, slightly before Stace's 10th birthday, she was spending her ordinary afternoon at her family's secret greenhouse observing magical plants. She spotted a withered flower, and stroked it with sorrow when the flower shivered and its petals began to unfurl with rich color returning it. Stace had healed a dying flower! Her mother was super excited after she told her this, informing her daughter is becoming a witch.

Character Special Race/Talent: Half Veela-
The house of Thorne was a prominent ancient wizarding one, highly respected in France, however at first, they had humble beginnings. From the throes of Eastern Europe, one woman- Helena Thorne, who set off for a better life in the streets of Paris, far away from the witch hunts and lies of her old village. The Thorne’s were mistresses of a succession of French kings- too pretty to resist, too common to marry- stuck in a loop of being used but not fully wanted. A vicous circle of deciet and power.

Through all of this, Helena insisted on keeping her lineage full Veela- for beauty was a power to be used later on. One of Helena’s ancestors, a feisty girl by the name of Victoria, took her opportunity after the confusion of the French Revolution, and established herself as an upper class woman, setting up an estate from a couple decapitated by the french public's bloody thirsty revenge. Victoria expanded her wealth, and by the middle 20th century, the Thorne's were regarded as reverged members of society, who were almost worshipped, but could never be had. They were always present at balls, and parties, but they dissapeared sometimes to their homeland, returning with their daughters bundled up and hidden from the world till they were 18, again fanscinating society, and keeping at bay over exicted investigators

Out of this Aphrodie Thorne rose, the talk of Paris at only 18. However Aphie did something utterly scandalous. For one she had gone to London, ALONE and fallen in love with a non Veela- Peter Highton-Smith-Jones. After her mothers refusal to allow Aphie to marry Peter, she ran away, and they got married in 1999 on his mothers estate, buying further propitiy and expaning their wealth enormously. Aphie wasn’t entirely without snobby faults though, and her pride soared high as well as her strict handle on her expectations for her children, which caused them to be rigid and have immense pride. She never revealed her Veela lineage to her children- the constant stares she put down to good genetics.

Sophie lived with this knowledge till age eight, when she and her older sibling began to do some digging on their mothers side, and upon revealing their connections to some irreputable Veela ancestor, and some records of hair being sold off when the estate was in trouble, they realised their lineage . Her siblings sheilded Sophie from this knowledge but she found out after her mother became deathly ill, and her father sent the children away to their grandmothers, but a boy fell off a bridge as he was showing off for her, which she put to boy stupidity, nearly drowning, and she was taken aside by her grandmother, who explained her linage and kept her locked inside the Thorne family house till she recieved her Hogwarts letter, with scrict instructions from her father to her grandmother ordering her to send her to Hogwarts, and to teach Sophie how to use her unique gift. Sophie was taught how to be guarded, dim her power, and remain closeted, so no boy could persuade her to be used by him, as the Thorne's before Victoria were.

Character Backstory:

Born to a prominent ancient French wizarding family and English one, Sophie has an older sister that goes to Beubaxtons, and three grown up siblings, and lives in London, Kensington. Her parents are celebrated Aurors at their respective ministries, a role she is expected to withhold, and she has grown up a perfect little lady. She is attending the 24/25 class.

Missy (Melissa Highton Smith-Jones) – elegant and sharp, the closest sibling to Sophie being only a year older than her, she has expectations for her sister and herself, and strives to be worthy of her family name.

Edward – eldest brother, working in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and an Auror. He is the favourite to be the future Ministry of Magic, and is a rather good chump in Sophie’s opinion.

Julian – her more rebellious brother, rumored to have connections in Knockturn Alley, and to Mundungus Fletcher, but now somehow working in the French Ministry of Magic in the International Co-operation department.

Vivienne – the family zoologist, working with Nifflers and endangered Quilins, she is away most of the time, rescuing and releasing endangered animals, while juggling her N.E.W.Ts.

The family lives in an old manor in the countryside, passed down for generations, full of enchanted portraits and protective charms, while they are in France, and they live in a townhouse in Kensington and Chelsea for London affairs, which is relatively newer.
Her mother is of course of Veela lineage but her father is of an ancient wizarding family dating back to the Norman conquest, which Sophie is constantly reminded of. She was born on the 16th of March, 2013, in the Rose bedroom, and was fawned over as all her siblings had been before her. She was then handed over to a nanny and remained with a succession of nannies throughout her time before Hogwarts. Her father put his foot down with Sophie, and she was sent to Hogwarts instead of Beauxbatons as her mother wished, much to many stormy fights.

First Instance of Magic: When Sophie was six , after a remark on how she looked so unlike a Highton-Smith-Jones, and if her father was sure she was his, Sophie, without knowing, smashed the person in question's glass, and plate, much to her parents secret approval .

- Your stats add up to 29. I checked three times to make sure I was not miscounting.
- All Race apps have to be 500 words. You're at 392/500. In addition you cannot be related to Lestrange. I'd like to see more description on why Sophie knows she's a part-veela, or how she grew up as a part-veela.
- Your FIOM. I'm assuming you're talking about her accidently lighting the barn on fire. The Flame Freezing Charm does not terminate the fire. Extinguo/Extinguishing Spell does. The flame freezing charm just gives the fire a pleasant sensation, making the fire comfortable to be around, but it does not extinguish it.

- Your coding is html, we use BB. If you are unfamiliar, refer to the headinh.
- We will need a trunk and a legible encyclopedia to review.
- I see no mention of LeStrange, so TY for the presumed edit.
- Part Veela app is up to 465, so almost there.
- Stat total appears to be 30 now, so good job.

The end of the school year is only a few hours away and I assume you wish to graduate with your peers considering your DOB. We do offer a grace period for edits until July 14 and will graduate you then. But the edits must be done before then, the sooner the better.
I have not used any coding i don't think- apoogies if my trunk is in the wrong place.

Jessamine note, 2nd August: Your part-Veela application is fine; it is between 500 and 2,000 words; 2,000 words is the hard cap while 500 is the bare minimum. However, please provide a trunk in your encyclopedia, or otherwise adjust your coding, as moderators need to be able to read this to make future edits for you.
