It went smoothly for a moment, the positioning was right, the posture was okay, his hands went to the right places, but then, on the first step, he turned and plummeted along with Nico to the ground. A haze went through him, for a brief moment he wasn't exactly sure what was going on. It was kinda dark, kinda warm, something smelled good. He moved his hands aside to push himself off the ground, getting his upper body up to see whats going on with a light groan

"Uhh"

He saw a very red face staring back at him.

"Um.. Hi"

Out of nowhere, he didn't know why he greeted her, he wasn't sure why he was still on top of her and he didn't realize that he should be moving off of her until several moments have passed, he was just distracted again. Getting back into his senses, he started getting up and once he was on his feet he helped Nico up as well, still quite embarrassed from what was happening, but still adamant onto trying again

"I know that..."

His thoughts got clouded again, he got distracted often but it was due to magical things, in this situation there was some magic involved in a sense too, but nothing like what he'd usually encounter.

"It didn't go, well... Last time, but lets try again, okay?"

He extended his hand towards her with a somewhat goofy smile, trying to hide his embarrassment as well as he could and failing quite heavily at that, though there was one thing would classify him fairly clearly, stubborn. Were she to accept his invitation then they'd try again, if she decides to give it a rest, he'd pick up a bottle of butter beer and take another swig.

Alex Cloverfield was a regular Casanova. Alan was like the boyish girlfriend every girl should have cooing over Nico’s ball of fluff. Nico was just a lucky little girl. It was a surreal scene, a girl casually discussing the cuteness of her fluffy pet with one young man and looking dreamily at another. Certainly Alex was cute, and not the short, fat and bow-legged kind. He was the kind of cute that looked harmless and was aesthetically pleasing and for the moment he looked like an upstanding citizen. For the most part he was, except for the fact that he (well, they) were ignoring the violence being inflicted on their fellow students. Edric was rendered unconscious already as a result of an altercation. Alan was content enough to protect a book and chat with the lovebirds and the lovebirds... well they were going to explore the rituals pertinent to the birds and the bees.

Rather than intervene and save the now unconscious Edric, Alex and Nico decided to walk off. Edric would be fine…. Probably.

Nico and Alex left topic.

Patrick would kick an unconscious Edric and demand that Marcia accompany him to the dance. He got no answer, she must have been awestruck by his display of manliness and vigor in defeating that troublesome Prefect. Edric was in dire need of a hospital wing visit, but he had Serena there to 'defend' him and an awestruck Marcia and Glen. Sadly for Glen, Patrick did not swing his way. He only had eyes for the exceedingly ‘hot nerd.’ Marcia's lack of verbal response, accolades, anything was frustrating. He let out a huff as he extended his hand, demanding that Marcia's hand fill his. There was no reaction, he gave her a few moments to change her mind. It would have been in her best interest to accept it, but she didn’t.

She would regret that.

He would leave a long, lingering look at Glen. He considered exerting the remainder of his wrath on the other boy. He decided against it. “Whatever…” he muttered.

"I did. You deserved it."

Serena bravely announced. She was certainly loyal. A trademark of her House. Also a bit stupid. But still loyal.

"From the way Marcia hit you, you clearly took something of hers without permission and now you're here, attacking people younger than you? Is this how you get your kicks? By bullying people smaller than you? Do you feel like a big strong man now?"

He let out a laugh. Did she really think that he gave two craps over being fair or right. What did she expect to happen? That he would break down and start crying, that he would lament beating the crap out of the boy who assailed him first by tripping him... "Stronger than these two fuckers," he was referring to an unconscious Edric and a still as stone Glen.

Serena tried to weasel past him. He would reach out for Serena and attempt to grab her wrist. His grip tight if he grabbed hold, enough to leave a bruise. "What is it with you girls and noodles like this?" He complained. He was taller. He was stronger. He was a lot more capable than either of them. He had the confidence and the will to demonstrate this. If he had grabbed hold of the former Prefect, he would relinquish his strong grip as suddenly as he took her forearm. "Whatever..." He repeated as he started to walk off, leaving the unconscious Prefect in Serena's semi-capable hands.

Fine, play hard to get Marcia. He took out his frustration on Edric, kicking the unconscious boy again in the ribs. Patrick would walk off (leave).

Alex and Nico would return, after abandoning students in need facing a fire. Alex was going to give Nico some butterbeer. Despite the horrors they had just left and the student in peril they had ignored and were still ignoring, they would find the time to get drunk and have a little bit of romance. One thing led to another and Alex would fall on top of her, by Hogwarts standards, Nico was now pregnant. Congrats Alex, you’re a dad now.

Howard was left with Thomas and a few upper classmen that he rejected. A foolish choice, considering the fact that he was now playing babysitter for Thomas. The boy went out into the lake, took a piss and... just stood there. Howard was a white knight after all, who knew. He would rescue the silly Slytherin first year from drowning in waist high water if he passed out or from angry mermaids that want vengeance for polluting their waters.

From the brush that covered the water's edge, someone would approach the soggy duo. They were tall. They had about a foot on Thomas and Howard. The stranger was shrouded in darkness and they made no effort to leave the shadows and get into the light. "You should not be drinking out here," a voice neither would have heard before announced. "Makes you slow... unsteady... stupid. You're going to get killed out in a place like this if you're not careful." The voice was distinctly feminine, there was a silver outline to her hair. Whatever she wore, it had a slight sheen that fabric often lacked.

"Something bad is about to happen and you kids are lining up like cattle to be slaughtered." The warning seemed almost casual in the way she stated it. Take it or leave it.

For a moment, Nico thought he got knocked out. He didn't move, he stayed there. Or maybe it was only in her head that this situation lasted so long. But then, there was movement. Alex seemed to had gotten back to his senses and slowely pushed himself up from her.

He looked down at her, apparantly not as embarassad as she was. The moon shone behind him, the stars decorating the sky. It almost looked like a dream. Nico couldn't help but stare for several moments, her face still... quite red. 'P-Prince..' She muttered under her breath. Out it went before she realised what she just said. Freezing up, she hoped he didn't hear her. The situation they were in was already awkward enough.

The embarassment of Alex came soon enough, quickly getting on his feet. As the gentleman that he was, he helped Nico up. 'T-Thank you..' The back of her dress was covered in sand. Swiflty swatting her hands, she brushed off the grains of annoyance. It almost happened as a reflex, hearing her mom scream. Ofcourse, her mother wasn't there. But the memories of Nico getting scolded were as vivid as ever.

"I know that..."

Clapping the sand off her hands, Nico looked hesitantly at Alex. Lucky for him, he wasn't covered in sand at all. Except his hands. She carefully bended over, reaching her calves, brushing the last bits of sand off.

"It didn't go, well... Last time, but lets try again, okay?"

Finally gotten rid of the bothersome sand, Nico straightened her back. The Prince wasn't giving up. He felt bad about what happened. Well, maybe not bad. He just didn't intend to push a frail girl to the ground, possibly crushing her. He wanted to prove himself. Nico knew he didn't mean it. They both hadn't really danced before, waltzed before. Being in sync with a partner wasn't easy. You had to get to know each other and trust one another. I-In a way...

He extended his hand, with the elegance that any Prince would have. For a moment, Nico glanced at his offer. The night was still young and the shore had become rather calm. The worst that could happen was them falling again but since they already went through that, it didn't seem as nervewrecking as before.

'Sure.'

Nico smiled tilting her head slightly, her ice blue eyes locking onto his. 'Let's try again.'

You're gonna need a bigger boat

Ruka felt a bit dizzy with everything that was going on, and he couldn't blame Jade for wanting to get back to the castle. He might just decide to do the same.
He looked between the Slytherin prefect and the Gryffindor boy vanishing from where they were, and Donny who seemed almost frightened of what he had been doing just now.
He took a deep breath and put a hand on his forehead, trying to keep his balance and get rid of the nausea threatening to make him throw up again. "Donny..." he said carefully, unsure if letting his friend go anywhere by himself would be such a good idea. "I can come along if you want. I mean..." He shrugged a little awkwardly, not wanting to sound like he didn't trust his friend to stay by himself. He waited a moment but when Donny didn't immediately jump at his offer, he took a deep breath and looked towards the castle. His clothes felt too heavy and hot, his head was spinning, and he had had decidedly less fun than he really hoped he would have had. "Or I can also... go. Maybe change out of this ridiculous get-up." He chuckled and slowly sat down on a rock, just to make sure the dizziness wouldn't get the best of him. He looked up at his friend and grinned, a little lopsided. "I just don't want you to get into any more trouble without me."

Howard made large awkward steps into the water as he went in to retrieve Thomas. “Dude...c’mon!” Everyone loves caring for a drunk. Bending at the knees, Howard would pull Thomas’ arm around his shoulder and in turn he would wrap his arm around his midsection. The Slytherin boy would mumble incoherently to himself as Howard dragged him one drunken step at a time towards the shoreline. As they took thier last few steps out of the water, the combined effect of Thomas’ weight and the handful of butter beers he had consumed caused Howard to stumble, the pair falling to their knees. Shrugging off Thomas’ arm, the drunken boy fell to his side a little harder than Howard had intended. “Oops.”

Just then a rustle in the brush ahead caught Howard’s attention. His somewhat sloppy gaze looked up to see what had caused the disturbance.  He peered into the shadows before him, each one a potential threat. Out of nowhere, a figure would materialize.

“You should not be drinking out here,”

Howard jumped to his feet, the scare and the the alcohol causing him to lose balance and stumble backwards, falling on his bum. He fumbled in his pocket as he attempted to draw his wand.

“Makes you slow...unsteady...stupid. You’re going to get kill out in a place like this if you’re not careful.”

Howard kicked his feet as he drew his wand, desperate to create distance from the intruder. The voice was feminine and unrecognizable. The figure it came from was tall. What really scared the boy however was how the figure seemed to be outlined in some mysterious way. As if emitting some sort of powerful glow. It highlighted her hair and traced the fabric of her clothing, but her face was cast in shadow.

“Something bad is about to happen and you kids are lining up like cattle to be slaughtered.”

The words were spoken casually, but the threat behind them seemed real enough. Whoever this was, they meant him and his fellow students harm. Howard placed his wand free hand in front of him, using the support to steady himself as he leapt up into a crouched position. The adrenaline pumping through his veins enough to clear his mind, even if only for a moment. Shoot first, ask questions later. He pointed his wand towards the shadow and attempted his go to spell.

“Flipendo!”

Donny smiled at Ruka, though the times didn't seem anything to smile about. There were kids getting drunk, fighting, flipping each other meanwhile he and Ruka were sitting alone next to an old boulder. But he did consider the offer. "Um, I-I think I'll be alright." he replied. He really didn't think that he would get into any more trouble. "Besides, I don't want to ruin your day any more than I have. This was supposed to be fun, but because of someones "Joke", I've had to suffer making two more enemies, and a weak stomach!" he exclaimed, clutching his collar and un-buttoning the top for some air, as it was getting warmer.

He looked at the water, into his reflection as he'd done many a times. "Your better off without me Ruka." he said abruptly, but he meant it. "I'm always getting you into trouble, and you shouldn't have to deal with my negativity. You mine as well just sleep this off, and...Oh, I don't know--" he tried to finish but he couldn't. A rush a helplessness came across the odd Hufflepuff for once. Why was he put in Hufflepuff? He wasn't fair he wasn't modest like the hat said! Why? This was always a weight in the back of his mind. "Well, 'night Ruka. I-I'll see you in Potions, I guess?" he finished, smirking at Ruka, just to reassure their friendship. They were always going to be friends, just--Donny needed to figure himself out first. Why was he who he was? The questions yearning answers, or was it just lack of sleep?

Glancing at her again as he brushes his hands a bit over his robes, he took her hand again and got into the position they were in prior to tumbling over, this time it will work, his feet will move properly, he wont swing her around and the dance will go as planned... At least that's what he'd have hoped for, he really wasn't sure what he was doing. He was going to show her a good time, he knew she needed that but after all was said and done he entered a very unfamiliar zone, crossed it actually and is now he is trying to impress her by his none existing skills. First time was just a fluke, he will do better now, he knows what went wrong after all, he moved too quickly.

"Ok, I can do this, I can do this, I caaaa..."

His track of thought was cut short when he realized how close he is to her, it had hit him only then, not when he tried to dance with her for the first time and even when both of them were laying on the ground, but she was really really close. He was looking at her but concentrating on something else, on how he'd move, at least until that point, and his face started to redden as he realized what is actually going on. He started moving, this time he did pretty much everything besides turning, he ended up pulling her towards him and losing his balance yet again, but this time it was the other way around, he took her down with him. It hurt for longer than it should have, and again he found himself on the floor, though this time his back was on the ground, the daze brought confusion, further than what he already had, but this girl to whom he helped on a whim is now very close to him. The dance wasn't likely to happen after all, sadly he wont be able to sweep her off her feet like that, well, in the metaphorical sense, physically he already done so.

"Uh, a-are you alright?"

His eyes are still closed, trying to regain his composure and slowly open them up, he could see something red and something blue, it was very blurry, the blue was a larger shape. Once he'd regain his focus he'd try to help her up while getting up as well if she fell with him, otherwise he'd get up on his own. He would brush his hands off the sand once more and get them their bottles

"Heh, I... I'm not a great dancer, huh?"

With a chuckle he stated the obvious, but there was no way to avoid it, he brought himself into this mess, so he had to handle it somehow too.

"I guess we could, um, just hang around here instead if you're not too tired"

He proposed they'd stay where they were, it was nice out, it was fairly far from the commotion of the party, he really didn't have much interest in involving himself with others right there and then, besides, he cannot flee from this girl, she had only met him, he was sure that there had to be more to this night than angry hufflepuffs, flaming tables and him falling around a bunch.

Serena's jaw clamped down shut when the older boy grabbed hold of the noodle arm that he commented on. She held back from saying anything, fully expecting him to try and swing for her. His grip on her arm hurt. But she did not want to give him the satisfaction of knowing it hurt. She focused all of her energy on not groaning. It would bruise later, but that was future Serena's problem. She did not have to worry about that right now. There were more pressing matters to tend to.

She did not answer his question. She had nothing to say - well, to be honest, she did not know what to say so ended up saying nothing instead. He released his firm grip after what felt like an eternity and started to leave the area. Serena released the breathe that she did not know she had been holding as he moved away. It was perhaps a sigh of relief. Maybe she had been scared.

The Hufflepuff quickly then turned her attention back to Edric who had been kicked several times. She knelt down beside him, gently shaking him. "Come on... wake up..." She muttered, more to herself but audible enough for him to hear it if he gained consciousness.  "Enric, can you hear me? Enric!" She continued, trying to stir him awake.

If that did not work, the second year said louder, "Can anyone help?!" She asked, calling out to the crowd that had been around. Perhaps someone could actually be of assistance to the poor boy laying on the ground. Serena tried to shake him awake before suddenly coming up with an idea, "Water. I need water." Water works, right? It would have worked in films, anyway.

If someone came to help, she would ask them to watch him - and essentially protect him should the bully return.

Either way, she would rush to the lake. Grabbing one of the cups that had been placed near the food and drinks, she filled it with water from the lake - mostly because she did not think she ought to throw juice or whatever other drinks there were over the injured child. She returned to Edric, throwing the cup of lakewater over his face if he had not already gained consciousness.

Glen was frozen in horror at the scene unfolding in front of him and it took him a moment (a far too long moment, really) to shake it off. He had tried to shake it off before but had failed as the situation had deteriorated even more. This time, he was successful – to an extent.

He started forward (jumped almost) so that he came to a stop next to where Enric(? He didn't know but the girl seemed to) and the girl had been and yelled “DETENTION!” at the retreating boy's back... only to pale once he realized what he'd done. Well, too late now. He would have to give people detentions it seemed...

Oh boy, but if I give him detention for violence – utterly deserved detention! - then I have to give her detention for hexing the student. Does this mean I have to also give detention to everyone else here for swimming in the lake without faculty supervision, there are way too many people here!! And what had been going on over there, there was yelling and---

It was a fight not to hyperventilate but he managed to regain control. No. He would focus on one problem at a time.

He had to admit, he admired [Serena]'s guts to stand up to the bully, after all, he'd been an utter failure at that today so far.

“Uh, not sure how much help I'd actually be...”

Water? What did she need water... oh, well, if she thought it would help. It couldn't hurt, could it?

“S-sure, I'll watch him.” Giving her detention could wait. She was helping, at least.

Glen would stand over Edric, watching over him and trying his best to protect him in case the bully returned to take offense at being assigned detention wether by holding his ground or actively stepping between them if the need arose or until Serena returned.

Interaction: Glen, Serena, Harry [NPC]
Harry'd grafted Marnie for two weeks now. He'd walked her to her classes, carried her books, saved her the last of the black pudding at dinner twice, he'd conjured flowers for her that one time last Sunday when she'd been crying over that nasty Slytherin sixth year calling her a cow. That had been pure bollocks, he'd never understand why girls cried about the smallest shit. Marnie's breasts were nothing less than a gift given from god, round, big... Her hair was long and golden, legs super long and her face pretty. If she hadn't been a Hufflepuff she'd made a nice girlfriend, but his Tad said you shouldn't discriminate houses, so here Harry was trying to do the right thing and give her a chance. She wasn't half as smart as Isra of course, but Isra was a Ravenclaw and the bitch who'd ditched him because he didn't focus on his studies enough, so he didn't give a damn. If she was gonna rub in his face how much better than him she was, he was gonna rub his face in Marnie's-

"Yo Harry, isn't that your baby bro getting kicked in the face over there?" some called out to them from behind a group of bushes a few feet away. Marnie squeaked in terror and clutched Harry's arm in fright. Marc Payton. What was that wanker doing here? Seventh Years were too cool for midnight lakeside snogging, especially if you were Marc and had blackmailed the Prefect bathroom password out of some poor scrawny Fourth Year Ravenclaw Prefect. Harry gave him a look. A look that said "Leave me the hell alone so I can snog this bird in peace", but Marc obviously didn't get the memo.

"Harry, man, that boy beat up your bro!" This time he message registered. "Harry, what's going on? I thought your brother was a Sixth Year?" Marnie asked from somewhere beneath the arm he'd thrown across her shoulders. Harry ignored her.

He squinted to get a better look at what was happening at the Lake. Some dumb kids were beating each other up, not that he cared. The fight was already over it seemed, with a skinny kid lying prone a few feet from the Great Lake. The thing was that the skinny kid was indeed Eddy, Harry's baby brother.

Now Harry wasn't against roughening up a few rebellious little shits. Edric, who'd somehow ended up a sissy who loved books and stories and doing homework, had had his fair share of that from both Harry and Adair. They'd tried to toughen him up some, make a bit more of a man out of him. That was his little bro though, that was something else - whoever'd dared to lift their hand against his little bro had good old beating coming up his way if Harry got his hands on them.

Harry pushed Marnie aside and started running.

Beating up the other kids, fine, but not his fucking brother.

He didn't bother with explaining himself to his bird, or thanking Marc, or pulling put his wand. Harry just ran off to where his unconscious little brother was lying in the mud face first, with some other Slytherin boy standing over him. There was a Hufflepuff girl there too, but he ignored her, since Hufflepuffs didn't have the guts to hit people.

"What they fuck you think you're doing with Eddy?" he shouted at the little rascal, ready to beat him to a pulp should there be any chance that was the prick who'd knocked out his brother.

At the same time Serena threw water into poor Edric's face.

He woke up spluttering, raising his hands on instinct to defend himself from any more beatings. There was no fist coming for his face however. There was the Hufflepuff girl looking concerned and... Harry of all people, threatening his yearmate Glen. He had a look of pure rage in his face Edric had never seen before.

Huh.

His head hurt. His belly and sides hurt so much, his right arm was all pins and needles. "What... happened?"
