The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
"Don't be so rude to her. Also, we are allowed to talk where we want as long as it isn't in the middle of a lecture plain and simple. I have a feeling you and Kent would get along quite well. If you truly cared about scholastic achievement then you'd ask more question like us lot!" Miko said coldly to Dorothy, looking her dead in the eyes. Then he turned to Mibs "Mibs, playing guitar would probably be my favorite thing to do next to studying or talking about magical creatures. Beasts to be more specific." he replied.
The boy took out a notepad and wrote a note next to Kent's description it read "( Someone else quite fits this description also )". Miko wondered what made this girl so grumpy today, must've been rich. He'd never really had a good opinion of rich people because the stories he's heard about them made him think all of them were snobs. Never really being rude to someone, it came as a surprise to himself and maybe a few others once he said that to Dorothy!
No wonder she hasn't got any respect, she might even be related to Kent somehow! That's what he thought anyways.

The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
Mib was firing questions faster than I could think. And Miko was answering them quickly. "I'm a pure-blood." I said quietly, attempting to speak. Not having enough time to say anything more, I decided to shut my mouth and think for a bit, mentally wishing I had brought a book with me. As they were chatting another girl spoke, she seemed rather annoyed with how loud they were. It was true, they were quite loud. I was usually really quite but she had been loud when I first arrived. "Sorry, we were really loud and chatty. We won't be loud anymore." I said giving the girl a warm promising smile.
She reminded me of when I first met Aravis, so I spoke carefully hoping no one in the group would pipe up against the older student. If they did I certainly wasn't going to. I hoped Mibs and Miko wouldn't try to correct her. If she wanted quite, then I would be quite. It was simply polite. It wasn't like I was able to get a word in anyways. Then again, I had never really liked talking much. In my mind, I mentally wished I was back at the mansion. Away from everyone, alone, reading a book. People were ok, but only for so long. Still I smiled and kept a fake face on. After all, I didn't want to upset anyone, frankly I wasn't in the mood for it.
Almost right after I finished speaking Miko spoke up. I instantly hid my head in my hands. This wouldn't be good. "I stand corrected, I shall be quite."

She sat up stiffly, staring at the girl. Her comments stung Mibs, and she wasn't about to let them go. " Okay, first of all. What does my blood have to do with anything? I'm actually proud of my heritage, despite what you think! Just because my parents weren't ' pure blooded wizards ' doesn't mean a thing. " She huffed. " Secondly, the Dining Hall is for that. Dining, or as I like to call it, sitting down with a bunch of people to eat. Do you know what people do when they are together? They talk. So if you really want to study somewhere, then you should go where it's quiet. "
She wondered who this girl was, bossing them around like she was so much better. Psh! The girl didn't even look much older than her. Second Year at most. Again, just because she wasn't a pure blood, or even from a wizarding family, didn't mean she couldn't be proud of who her parents were.
She happened to be very proud.
Mibs turned away from her with a pointed look, and glanced at the two other people she actually wanted to be around. " Oh, you play the guitar? I've always liked brass. " She mused, drumming her fingers on the table and doing her best to ignore the snobby girl.

Dorothy's blonde curls flew as she snapped her head around. Her mother would remind her often that she should always be the bigger person. Be better than them, because you already are. She smiled widly and addressed the boy. "I have no idea who this Kent is, but I can assure you that I do not associate myself with people of menial blood. Oh, and in response to your pathetic excuse for a witty comment, I pride myself in asking the right questions. I doubt you'll achieve O's and E's by learning everyones favorite colors."
Another girl spoke in more polite tones. Dorothy didn't take time to reply. She had already dragged her Potions book out. She flipped through the pages, attempting to drown out the noise of people around her. How long these days in Hufflepuff seemed! No one considered her as a possible ally, simply because of her house. She was expected to be kind and sweet, naive and timid. It was disgusting.
The girl whom she had spoken so cruelly to was standing up for herself. As irrelevant as this girl was, Dorothy couldn't help but admire the girls' courage. After all, Dorothy was a lot to stand up to. Still, she was speaking with the eloquence and knowledge of a flobberworm. Something about being proud of her blood. This girl was a mudblood. What did she have to be proud of?
"I'm sure you are aware of the existence of muggle money. Muggles like your parents use this false money to pay for their needs. What do you think is more valuable? A Galleon made of pure gold, or a bit of paper with words printed on it? Think of muggle coins, made of multiple metals all smashed and mixed together. Would you say those are worth more than our pure silver-sickles?"
Dorothy raised a dark eyebrow quizzically as she eyed the girl. This was the kind of person her stepmother had warned her of. The children that would claim they had something great. Something worthy of respect. What had her mother said to do with these people?
Crush them. Trample on their spirits and make them believe they were nothing.

This girl was being a real pain right now. "I agree with you about asking the right questions, and I don't get my O's and E's by asking these questions. But clearly these rude remarks aren't giving you anymore brain cells than five so I suggest before you try to make fun of something else you should save those few bits of intelligence you've got in that empty skull of yours." Miko scoffed. It wasn't very rare to see a Pureblood like himself standing up for a Muggle Born anymore, but clearly this girl didn't move with the crowd. He admired this but he still wouldn't tolerate her complete and utter ignorance of the fact that making fun of anyone at all was not acceptable, especially at the Hufflepuff table.
Miko had heard the slur mudblood before but had never thought to use it. After all, it was quite rude and frowned upon in a vast majority of the wizarding population.
"Aside that, I never really understood muggle money and it's worth. The system is based on belief not facts which I don't think is very stable. " he said, thinking aloud. It's true that the muggle money system is very flawed and unstable but somehow they make it work so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Verla was furious when she saw someone fighting with her friend. "You need to leave, now." She told the girl. She was so rude but she needed to mind her own business. Miko was a curious lad, and he just asked questions was all he did. The girl wasn't even in the conversation, rude to listen into other peoples conversations. It was her biggest pet peeve, even though she did herself, but no one knew that because she knew how to to keep her mouth shut about things.
Verla sat next to her friend and told Miko and Mibs to ignore her in case she decided to keep talking. Verla knew how to ignore these kinds of people who couldn't mind their own business. She had her parents who didn't love her anymore, so she ignored them, she had Lucien's sister, which she ignored.
There was a lot of people she ignored, this girl, was only added to her list. She had a very long list. She just didn't have time to list it all at the moment.
When Verla got nervous, she gripped her angel clockwork necklace. She was nervous a lot, but telling this girl to back off, she wasn't nervous, she was confident.

The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
I leaned my head on the table for a few seconds. This wasn't going how I hoped. As I listened to the back and forths I sighed before making another comment. "Haven't any of you learned to respect your elders? Yes, she may only be a year or two older than us. You all probably don't think she deserves respect, due to how she went about her words, but is it that hard?
All she wanted was us to be quiter that isn't hard and not worthy fighting about. If someone requests quite be quiter would you! It's not that hard!" I said in a rather dark tone.
It was frustrating. They were fighting this girl over something so petty, perhaps she hadn't been nice but it's always good to be the better person as my mother had told me. "She doesn't need to leave.
We should just be respectful of her wish. If we listen to her we won't have issues with her most likely so would it be that hard to put our better foot forward. This most certainly isn't how I was raised to act." I said looking at everyone, stress visable on my face. It wasn't worth causing a scene for but here we were.

The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
“You need to leave, now.”
Yet another little girl had joined the conversation Dorothy was leading so well. This girl was familiar, though she didn’t seem to recognize the blonde whom she spoke to so freely. Dorothy smiled with cat-like expression on her pale features, and turned to greet the silly redhead. “Oh, Verla dear. Don’t you remember me?” This was Verla Harness, school drama queen and hoarder of illicit creatures. They had met once before. “How’s the bowtruckle?”
Another smile was given. How silly this all seemed! How foolish these little kids were. The petty conversation that was loudly echoing throughout the hall seemed meaningless compared to the struggles Dorothy observed in her own household. Well, it did matter in one way. Dorothy was going to leave an impression here, one that may determine her future in the house of Hufflepuff. These people would likely be around the full seven years of Hogwarts. At one point or another, she would have to either get used to them, or change houses. She would make them wary of her.
The same polite girl from before spoke, this time encouraging the others not to bother Dorothy. This girl was almost tolerable. Almost. In all honesty, Dorothy could’ve studied in the middle of a giant’s fistfight. It wasn’t the noise that was bothering her. It was them. Her friendly, naive, silly housemates. How could they converse so freely and happily. Did they not know that even now, a dark force was lurking in Hogwarts? Had they not heard of the masked man? How about the trial of Harry Potter?
The Hufflepuffs around her found it easy to carry a simple conversation. They had never been taught otherwise. Dorothy was a keeper of words. Words were a sort of power, a power that Dorothy, from a young age, had always made her responsibility. These people were careless with their words. Their phrases knocked together like an old man’s knees and they spoke of immature and obnoxious things, as if nothing else mattered. One child was accusing her of brainlessness. It made her grin.
Dorothy shut her potions book and placed it into her book bag. She turned to the others, still smiling, and spoke softly.
“Let me give you all a word of advice. Speak only to children equal to yourselves, and respect those above you. It is foolish for you to attempt to verbally fight me, because I will always win. You do not understand the weight of words as I do. Perhaps you will someday, but not now. Eventually you will realize your place in all this, and when you do, I’ll be there to make sure you stay in it. Never forget, mudbloods.”

"Um, I am no mudblood but I do know it is a bad phrase that you're wasting your vocabulary skills on. I know my place in this, it is quite low but maybe I could win my way to the top." Miko stated. It's true he wasn't a mudblood, he was pureblood but none of that mattered. He just didn't want false accusations to be made, that's all.
The boy knew this phrase and knew how horrible it was to address someone of mixed blood but never understood the meaning behind it. Why was it a bad phrase, these are truly just words someone joined together which are muggle and wizard? Even though it was often hurtful WHY was it hurtful. Words can't hurt you, maybe offend but not hurt. I mean, who decided it was a bad word and why did they make it a bad word to use he could've been just a word describing muggle borns not offensive.
I don't think you can just witch houses in Hogwarts. You get sorted into one and stay for all years, no amount of money could change that. It's the rules and rules are there for a reason, to be a guideline.

Mibs gave a little wave to Verla when she arrived, but other than that she was mostly focusing on the girl. She frowned, shifting uncomfortably.
The girl went on another tirade, this time about the importance of words and their place in the world. She let out a huge sigh, her shoulders dropping tiredly. " Could you stop calling us mudbloods, please? It's really quite rude. " She said, trying her best to be polite and trying not to let her temper spark. " What is your problem with us, anyways? You could always study somewhere else, someplace quieter. I don't see why you have to sit here and tell us to stop being happy, and to stop being ourselves. Because, honestly? I like talking about foolish and unnecessary things. That's how I get to know people, and make friends. " Mibs paused, her glasses sliding down her nose. " You should try to make friends, sometime. You might like it. " She shrugged, offering the girl a little smile.
She crossed her arms on the table and stared down at it, studying all the little knots and whorls in the wood. It warped, twisted, and creased, the wood itself a natural piece of art. It was stained a darker color with age. She finally looked back up, glancing at Ayleid.
" I was acting kind of rude, sorry. But I would respect her more if she would be kinder to us as well. " She said, acknowledging the girls wish for them to be more polite. " I know I was raised to act better, too. " She coughed, a sheepish grin spreading over her face.
