Field Day Finale | Tug of War
@Scarlett Aden @Willow Anderson
Aurelia's heart sank as the rope gave way to the teachers again. What was she doing wrong? She was putting her whole body weight and arm strength into this. She couldn't hold it for much longer... That last tug was weak, and she knew it. Her arms felt numb, oh if they all could just muster up a bit more strength.
Apparently, Scarlett had already reached her point of exhaustion as she toppled over in front of Auri. "Are you okay?", the brunette said, the strain audible in her voice. She was thinking of just laying down next to Scarlett but what a Gryffindor would she be if she did that? Besides, she would probably get trampled over.
Aurelia had to make sure that she wouldn't trip over Scarlett, but soon enough they had all settled back into their positions. The rope was tugging hard at her fingers, but she wasn't going to give up now. The teachers would brag about this for ages if they won and she couldn't let that happen. Not with her knowing that could have stopped it.
The teachers were smarter, and sure they might be stronger. But there were more students and united they could be stronger than the teachers.

They were getting somewhere! A grin broke out on Cecily's face as she felt herself take another step backwards with the rope, slowly moving the center towards the professors' side. It seemed that some of the adults in the castle were stronger than they had seemed, although Cecily was sure that having Ami on their side was a bit of an advantage. Still, the Ravenclaw would take every bit of advantage she could get without a shred of guilt-- she had no morals when it came to winning.
Although she wouldn't participate in the heckling-- she didn't really know anyone here well enough to feel comfortable teasing them-- Cecily could barely hold back a laugh at the insults thrown from either side. The creativity behind the good-natured taunting was, frankly, rather astounding. Insults weren't the only thing flying, though-- aggressive encouragement was rife amongst the professors, with even Ami joining into the fray. Of course, Cecily wasn't the least bit surprised-- her fiery Hufflepuff friend loved nothing more than to add to the chaos. But at least this time it was the other team making thoughtless wagers-- the Ravenclaw doubted Ami had enough pocket change to buy the whole field day crew butterbeers this time.
Cecily leaned back, straining against the rope. Even with the adults on her side, the larger mass of students were putting up quite a fight. Still, Cecily wasn't about to go down without a fight of her own.

@Scarlett AdenWoah! Piérre had actually managed to do something this round! Apparently his readjustment of his grip on the rope had been of some benefit, as he tugged harder than most of the kids around him. Straining and attempting to use what little weight he had, Piérre tugged and tugged until his face turned beet red. Behind him, Scarlett slipped, and Piérre cheered her back up again, reaching down a hand to snag hers and get her to her feet. "C'mon, Lettie! We can do this! Put your legs into it!" Piérre knew that the strongest part of his body was his legs and midriff... Perhaps Scarlett's was too.
Still, he inevitably slipped forward, and with a puff of disappointment, Piérre let go of the rope, rubbing his cramped fingers. Dang, if this wasn't gonna give him ropeburn, he didn't know what would. Still, perhaps it was pride, perhaps it was stubborn will, and still yet, perhaps it was the will to prove that he was worth something, that he was worth respect and attention of both the student population and his professors. A Slytherin trait if ever seen, perhaps there was more than just outward chivalry to be found in the Britalian. "C'MON TEAM! PUUUUUULLLLL!!!"

Percy quickly leaned back on the rope and pulled with all his might, trying to help his fellow classmates pull the teachers across the line. He gritted his teeth as they were stuck on a stalemate for a few seconds, before the teachers eventually began to gain the upper hand little by little "For the love of merlin put your damn back into it!" he shouted openly while he renewed his efforts of digging his shoes further into the ground. Even with the constant back and forth insults, one person in particular caught his attention. Of course the grounds keeper would throw his block of cheese into the ring of curses.
The bloated man was bigger than the rest, possibly double the size of his closest competitor. It was almost as if he ate 10 meals a day just to keep up the weight, but none the less the extra weight had a big asset for the teachers team. However, it wasn't his appearance that caught his attention but the insult he said. The comment was kind of ironic, considering he had enough meat on his bones to feed a troll for a whole month. Percy gazed at him with a brazen grin, a few insults of his own popping into his smart brain "Hey, big guy!" the boy shouted to try and snatch his attention "I almost feel sorry for whoever is in front of you, they must be dreading getting crushed by the walking blob when they lose!" he said sarcastically before sticking out his tongue mockingly at the grounds keeper "ní thógfaidh sé seo i bhfad..."

The student team was getting absolutely annihilated. They didn't even stand a chance. It seemed like Willow had underestimated just how strong the rest of the Professors were, and she started to feel bad about joining their team in the first place. Not to mention, two of them Henry & Nell had completely slipped off the rope. There were taunts bravely thrown from the student side despite them being pulled further and further towards them. It didn't seem like it would be long before they faced total defeat. Willow was bouncing anxiously between pulls, wondering if she made the right move betraying the students. There was still time to go back right? She looked behind at the Professors, would her Head of House and favorite non-Professor Kibitzer judge her for switching? There was only one way to find out.
With a sound of mild defeat Willow dropped the rope on the Professor side and ran over to the student side, putting herself as the anchor at the back. She firmly wrapped the rope on her hand, perhaps getting rope burn but that was a later problem. "Come on! Get your butts in gear! If you really want to win this you'll pull. Pull with everything you got! Come on firsties, I know you got it in you! Strike fear into the Professors hearts early on!" Well, she wouldn't normally advocate for trying to make your teachers fear them... but this was a special circumstance! "1... 2... 3... Pull!" If they were going to win this, they would have to do it through teamwork. Something the young badger was massively familiar with due to her time on the Quidditch team.Due to the amount of students failing to post, or dropping out. I've switched Willow to the student team because I put her on the teacher team due to the numbers the students initially had against them.Outfit Ref ||

@@Henry may have been smart but he wasn't strong, the twelve year old didn't have any muscles on him at all which made sense when he slipped in the mud and fell on his tailbone, Henry saw this coming and it shocked him that didn't happened sooner but he also admitted to his faults in this case it was being weak but he was witty and smart, which helped which helped with firing insults off. Henry quickly got back to his feet as he whispered to Cash and Nick " do you think anyone noticed? But still I'm not surprised that I fell," Henry then whispering to Nick so only he would hear " your right about Kibitzer, but professor Browne is to nice to be jinxed," Henry actually liked professor Browne and he really didn't want to jinx him or get on his bad side, Henry however spoke quicky to the first year hufflepuff " no ones jinxing professor Browne, don't worry," before turning back to Nick and whispering to him so only Nick would hear " what about the keeper of the keys and grounds then? He's so big and bloated that he would make for a easy target?"
Speaking of Henry noticed that girl who played for the hufflepuff quidditch rejoin in which he shouted to her " finally get the hint that we need help, maybe you can convince the other to join us as well," as Henry focused on pulling although with his little body weight it did close to nothing so he shouted over to the keeper of the keys and grounds of Hogwarts to make his remark "yeah well you need to get meat off your bone, mate. How much do you weigh? 300? 500 pounds?" Henry didn't know the guy so he didn't mind insulting him but their were a few professors he respected and like a lot, like Marcus Iwasaki and Caradoc Browne which explains why he wasn't insulting them or anything.
Henry heard the nurse say something, again Henry whispered so only Nick and Cash could hear " I think I might jinx him instead unless one of you wanted to? Nick what do you think about jinxing him while I get the fat one?" Henry then shouted over at the nurse " something new? Alright then, mustache creep," he shot off a sly smile before shouting over to the nurse again " is that why you thought a mustache was a good idea?Because you lack creatively?" Henry was about you stop before shouting off one last insult to the nurse " pretty sure only wannabe frenchmen and gits have mustaches? Which are you, sir?" Henry added in the air just to get on the nurses nerves a bit more before leaning into Nick and whispering to him " win or lose, were probably getting some extra homework after today," Henry laughed a bit because he was probably right and he didn't really since he was a geek/know it all and usually always got O's on his homework.
Henry then remembering the divination professor shouted to her with a sly smile "oh I know that I'm not strong and I accepted that but have your accepted the fact that your class is a waste of time," Henry didn't have anything against divination besides the fact that he was terrible at it but they were just some fun insults as Henry shouted another at her " maybe you should check your predictions again professor, maybe this time your sight won't be so foggy," Henry then leaned in and whispered so Nick was the only one who could hear him " so I don't think she will answer any questions about divination later, do you anything on about the subject?"
Henry was surprisingly enjoying himself, probably because he didn't really have too many friends in slytherin or chatted with them in a friendly way but here he was chatting and have fun with two fellow Slytherin's. Henry noticed another girl, Nell Zoldak,
who also fell and Henry couldn't help but say to her " hey are you okay?" Henry then offered her a smile and spoke " it's not that bad when you fall and if you would have got injured then the nurse is even here also," Henry pointed out the man before shouting over to him " hey mustache, does your inability to think affect your medical treatment or just your strength."
Henry then continued to pull but again he was pretty weak so as he pull, he felt sweat forming on his brow and the back of his neck as he also felt sweat tricking down the side of his ears, his breathing was also pretty heavy as he pulled but didn't get anywhere. Finally after a while Henry leaned in and whispered so only Nick could year " maybe making that bet was a bad idea, it doesn't look like were going to win this does it?"

They had won yet another round. This was way too easy for them and Maya kind of felt a little bad for the students who were trying their hardest. Maya did not tug as much knowing that they were in the lead as it was. As she was slowly letting loose some of the rope, she saw @Willow Anderson moving from their side to the students' side. It was nice that the one who coordinated the event was making sure it was fun for all and hopefully giving some extra help to the other side so they did not feel as defeated.
Maya gave some slack on her pulling. She had two beastly professors on her side and it seemed that @Rosalind Kibitzer was a lot stronger than she looked. Although Maya had a competitive streak, she knew when to keep it smooth rather than to jump the throats of the students.
As she was slightly letting go, she could feel the burn in between her fingers from pulling so tightly. The rope, most commonly, was cheap and old. It probably was found in a nearby shed and immediately used after this game. Maya unlatched from the rope and rubbed her hands together, giving them a quick massage. Her finger knuckles were slightly aching and she massaged the bone for a second as well.
When she felt that she gave enough slack, Maya grabbed the rope once more and gave it a big tug in hopes that it would help with another win. Who knew with Willow on the other side.

It would appear that the professors were dominating the game rather easily, despite the fact that she wasn't really doing much to help their cause. Everyone was good at different things. In her case, it was looking beautiful. Oh and painting her nails. They were so on point for the upcoming season with the pastel colour and metallic gold accents. But... every second she was busy doing this, they risked getting chipped.
Quirking an eyebrow as she watched Miss Anderson switch sides. It would appear that the students required a bit more help than they had anticipated, "You guys don't mind if I just... bow out now, do you? I'm sure you've got it," She said to her own team, with a smirk playing on her lips as she looked at their arms. It was not like she wanted to be here anyway. She much rather just sit on the side and eat popcorn and watch the show. Was she really even contributing that much? Hjørdis was pretty sure that the others would be fine without her. Hell, Marcus was bound to mock her for even trying this.
For now, she continued to pull the rope but she was seriously considering just leaving them to it. It was not much but it would probably help give the students a bit more of a chance to win. Besides, she had other things she to do and she really did not want to wreck her lovely nail polish. And getting called old a million times was not really on her to do list today. Perhaps she should go bake some cake. That was far more enjoyable! This was eating into her cake baking time!

Callie knew she wasn't at all strong but she hadn't quite anticipated her team being so readily slaughtered so quickly. In hindsight it didn't come as much of a surprise given that the professors were much older and subsequently stronger, a fact which Callie lamented she didn't realise sooner. Regardless of her own mild disappointment at her failure to see the inevitable she didn't allow it to get her down. Even if Henry was insistent on being nasty to the professors in a manner which didn't at all seem like a joke. To Callie they were far too mean spirited to be perceived as such, particularly when it came to how he spoke to Gargott or the nurse for that matter. Moustached creep? Callie thought his moustache was quite handsome! So handsome in fact she wished she could've grown one herself.
It wasn't until Henry remarked on the divination classes being a waste of time which didn't at all sit well with Callie. Coupled with her already mounting dislike of Henry constantly goading the professors it finally prompted the girl to speak up. "There's no such thing as a class that's a waste of time." Callie pointed out in a much harsher tone than usual. "Only people who are too stupid to see the wisdom in it! You probably fall into that category, Henry. Don't ya' think?" To anyone who knew Callie hearing her talk in such a way was entirely abnormal but Henry's constant yammering had brought out a side she wasn't entirely aware of. Perhaps she was channelling the energy of Thomas Baines. As she spoke Callie continued to tug on the rope with what very little strength she could muster, all whilst making a mental note to apologise to Nora later. Suddenly calling her old seemed rather nasty and Callie didn't at all wish to be compared to someone like Henry.

There was another battle for the square, and the students had a really rough round. Multiple feel this round, including Henry. "Ye ok?" he asked as his friend butt planted into the mud. Henry quickly brushed himself off and was more worried about his integrity, so he appeared to be fine. "Fur yer sake they better not've." Nick said, hoping his body blocked the scene despite him not being the tallest person.Interacting with: @Henry Knight & @Starlee Kennedy

It seems most people were out of their stride, except the girl in front of Nick, who pulled really well again. "Ye go girl!" Nick said to the girl in front of him. It didn't really phase him that a girl who appeared to be younger than him was performing better, he knew he wasn't that strong. Besides, why he should be upset when this girl was contributing to their team well?
Nick looked back to Professor Browne, he did seem like a nice guy, so maybe jinxing him wasn't the best idea. He also looked quite strong, and an aggravated man, regardless of how much of a Hufflepuff he is, could be quite a dangerous thing. "Yer right, ye would go fur Mr. Tubby, though I wuld probably jinx someone different, since Mr. Mustachio will have his hands full, literally, with yer's." Nick said, a the prospects of jinxing someone became more real.
The bet was definitely giving they're team some bad karma. The professors were already ahead when they made it and they were slowly losing any chance of coming back from their losing streak. "Ye, but we're goin' to go down fighting all the way." Nick said confidently. Nick and Henry would probably end up cleaning the classrooms, what's a detention on top of it?
"Quotes are for dumb people who can't think of something intelligent to say on their own. Like me."
