General The Gryffindor Table 2020-2021

As the Headmaster lifted the Sorting Hat off of her head, she gave him a wide smile and thanked him. Gryffindor! Father would be thrilled, she knew it. He always claimed that he would have been in Gryffindor, had he not been a muggle. But mum...well, mum knew she was a Ravenclaw, and Nate too. Flicking her hair over her shoulder, Rosalie made her way towards the Gryffindor table, but not before she sought out her brother once more. His expression made the wide smile return to her face. Sure, she and Nate bickered like any pair of siblings would, but there was no mistaking that look. He was proud of her.

She gave Nate a thumbs up and finally turned her attention to her new housemates. She had a house! Gryffindor, for the courageous and brave. As she settled into a seat amongst the new first years, any anxiety she had about being there dissipated. She would write to her parents, and they would be proud of her. Even her mum. She had Nate following in her footsteps, and that would just have to be good enough. Now that she had been sorted, Rosalie wasn't even sure Ravenclaw would have ever been a good fit for her. Maybe they had all been rather silly, thinking that's where she would end up, considering she and Nate were so different.

Shaking her head slightly, Rosalie set about her next task; meeting her housemates. As she poured gravy over the mashed potatoes she'd piled onto her plate, she met the eyes of a few students around her and smiled.

"Well, we're finally here! Isn't it amazing? I can't wait to explore the castle!

When the Headmaster lifted the Sorting Hat off of Emily's head she looked over at the Slytherin table, and she saw all of here siblings looking at her as if she was a traitor.

They probably were right, because Emily is the only one in her family that wasn't sorted into Slytherin. Emily's parents, older siblings, and twin siblings were all sorted into Slytherin. But Emily is a Griffindoor.

Emily still has a younger sister and brother. But they will probably both be Slitherin's too.

Emily walked over to the Griffindoor table and she sat down. Emily didn't really pick up a lot of food on her plate. That's because she wasn't really hunger.

Emily knew that she wasn't going to make any friends here at Hogwarts. Plus she is going to be getting a holler from her mother very very soon.

Emily ate whatever was on her plate. When it was time for dessert, Emily was happy then. So, she picked up one of each for her dessert.

Emily wants to have friends, but since she has five siblings in the house of Slytherin she is going to be having a very very very hard time making friends. Emily might not even have a family anymore.

Ben walked into the Great Hall and sat down at the Gryffindor table for lunch. It was Monday afternoon, and he was hungry, but he was also hoping to meet some other Lions today. He had been spending most of the year studying and playing chess in the common room with the house elves... But he needed human interaction.

He picked up his roll and dipped it into the soup that had been served for lunch. Maybe today he would finally make a new friend... The house elves were great and all but they were getting a little boring. Some actual human interaction would be really great...

Ben took out his journal and started to write. He knew that he had been staying in the common room too often, so he needed to get out more. Maybe he would even start getting to know some of the ghosts in the castle. They were talkative enough, and were always willing to tell their stories to others... And he really did want to learn more about the history of Hogwarts. He had always known he was a wizard, but he hadn't exactly read ahead in the textbooks. He had to leave something for himself to do once he got here, right? So for now, he just sat at the table, writing his journal entry.

What had just happened?

Sliding into the first empty spot and being instantly surrounded by congratulatory cheers, Clara absently smiled and thanked her new housemates. After a sip of water, the young witch took a clearer look around the table, realizing the stark contrast of everyone cheer and her own somewhat shocked silence. There was something that she needed to wrap her mind around.

Glory. The hat had latched unto those half formed ideologies of a child's understanding of glory and suckered her into a red corner. Or... the Hat never lied, right? It apparently knew people better than people knew themselves, was what gran had said. So, did that mean that she was a brave little cub who wanted to an Unspeakable when she grew up? Though, to be honest, idea of glory and an Unspeakable contradicted each other.

Taking a deep breath, Clara let out a stuttering little laugh, meant just for herself. Red and gold. Now she couldn't wait to write home. She could bet that dad would be proud, she was already his little lioness. But gran, oh! Gran was going to have to buy her a little dragon, as per their wager. Clara had argued that she would not be sorted into Slytherin, but done so only to oppose gran who had been ever so excited about her little girl continuing the long standing family tradition of dressing in green and silver. However it had happened, she was now and forever a Gryffindor. And, if the universe was just, she would soon be a proud owner of a personal dragon.

Through the entire hat ceremony, the second-year sat with irritation, minimal, but still, it irked in the back of his mind. There was a little tension between the glances between himself and Ivy, briefly, and still, the tension seemed to be there. Honestly, he wasn't sure how to act with her anymore and he knew that things could probably not go back to normal with the two of them. With trying to make the best of the situation, he gauged each of the newest additions of the Gryffindor house and still failed to see anyone worthwhile at the time.

Maybe one of these fresh first-years could change his mind, but, that'd be difficult though as he was very particular with his interest in the talent that the house held. Hell, he had his own agenda within this school and he planned to completely exploit the possibilities that this education system could bring to him. For him, he figured he was a muggle-born even though he didn't know who is father was, but, he did wholeheartedly grow up as a muggle. For this reason, he distrusted the magical society, and the staff at the school hadn't proven that the magical world deserved his respect just yet.

With this in mind, those golden hues of his watched over every single individual that the grubby old hat called out for the house he was apart of. Scrutinizing each of them separately, specifically, those eyes of his watching out to see if any of the newest recruits would bear the unmistakable color of the ivory-colored aspen wood wand he considered to be among the highest of qualities among all the life companions that a wizard could behold. With his research within the subject over the last year, he was certain that the personality traits of those who wielded this type of wand held were the characteristics that he was looking for in his further plans.

Contemplation in regards to her future house mates was momentarily interrupted by a side glance she accidentally shared with a boy sitting few seats off to the left on the opposite side of the large table. It was hectic, there was cheering going on and echoes of subdued chatting from every corner of the large hall, but that singular moment of contact had felt like slap.

Shrugging it off as one of those things that just happened from time to time, like when you were in a crowded area but could feel someones eyes on you, Clara continued, to a lesser degree, to survey the incoming new Gryffindors. She applauded with the rest of the house when it was required, but didn't jump into congratulatory cheers with everybody else. She rather watched her cup of water and juice, worrying that someone too enthusiastic might tip it over.

And there it was again. The back of her neck prickled. The remnants of the good old lizard brain were whispering warnings as Clara sharply turned her head to catch the eye of the same boy from across the table. That gaze was like a cheese grate against her skin, not because it looked menacing, but because it felt like it had an intent behind it. For whatever reason she decided not to look away, inclining her head to one side in curious observation. He stood out against the rest of the student body, if only because he didn't do any of the things everybody else did. He just sat there, specifically staring at the newcomers with an air of irritation about him. She had met dogs like that. They would stare at you, not blink and you could read in those eyes anything you wanted, because there was only a slim line between their decisions of ripping your throat out and allowing you to pet them.

Suzuki sat down at a table, rubbing her eyes. She had slept well for only a short period of time last night, the rest she had spent awake and reading quietly under the covers with a flashlight. My fault, shouldn't have read so much... she thought. The Gryffindor table was pretty loud, full of people chatting to each other in not-so-hushed voices. Even though she had just sat down, Suzuki was bored. Really bored. Pulling out the book she'd been reading yesterday, "Magical Theory", she propped it up on a table and turned to the page she had left off on. Reading and eating at the same time, Suzuki stole quick glances at the room she was in. Like Hogwarts itself, it was gigantic. Gigantic frames of pictures were hung up around the walls, and ghosts bobbed around, chatting to the alive and their fellow ghosts. The idea of ghosts intrigued her, she'd never really thought much about then other than the fact that they were paranormal spirits that came back alive after they died. She watched Nearly Headless Nick doff his head like a hat to a few students, and resumed reading her book, eating and thinking at the same time. Pulling out her aspen wand with the phoenix feather in it's core, Suzuki spent a few seconds spinning the wand around her thumb, but then hurriedly put it away. Better not get it lost or broken.

After waving and blowing a kiss at her new housemates, the blonde, beautiful Vivian Seoigh sashayed over and sat herself down. 'Do they have Tom and Jerry's here?' she sighed, 'That stuff is so nice. I don't even want a main course; I just want dessert.' She looked around: the food didn't seem to be served yet, no chicken, no steak, no mutton--certainly no Tom and Jerry's ice cream. For once in her life, Vivian was more interested in eating than talking. Right then and there, she could have really used a nice packet of Tayto's, even if Tayto's were kind-of mank. But the sorting ceremony was still on-going. She took out her wand--aspen, with a snallygaster heartstring core--and set it down on the table so she wouldn't lose it. If she kept it in her robes--her rank, ugly robes--it'd probably, like, fall out or something.
She looked around the table: her eyes immediately fell on a boy a few seats away from her. The first thought in her head? So cute. He looked a bit older than her, maybe a year or so. She loved nothing more than handsome boys and cute outfits. And shopping for said cute outfits. And partying in said cute outfits. And dancing in said cute outfits...
Almost as soon as she noticed him, she'd forgotten all about the brief encounter again, occupied with the deeply important question of whether Versace's autumn collection was as good as their summer one.
