Chess Combat, Game 3
── ❋ ──Interacting with Team Black❋𝓢o, things could be worse, Amadea reminded herself as she glanced around at the playing field...or rather board, since this was chess after all. Her teammates seemed to be in a mixture of places; the queen had been knocked down but was standing up again but Cecily had successfully hit the other team’s Queen, so things were as even as they could be.
Amadea has also successfully hit the other rook, which she prided herself in. However, she hadn’t been able to evade the incoming levitation spell cast by none other than her - now supposed - new friend Dymphna. Now she was levitating above the ground, and Amadea knew that she was an easy target. Hopefully she wouldn’t be too damaged during the next round.❋

Her new friend Amadea was up in the air, all of Dymphna's focus going into her wandwork paid off. Now she was making sure not to drop the Hufflepuff, only having wanted to stop her for a bit. She couldn't cast any spells from where she was dangling in the air, could she? It would take skill that Dymphna didn't think she even had herself. It didn't occur to her that it made Amadea a bigger target.
It was more work for her to duel than it was to guard the hoops in Quidditch. If the other house didn't get close then there wasn't much for her to do, but this situation was constant go go go. It wore her out a bit but she supposed that if she were to have a duel in the real world, with way worse spells (unforgiveables) than this, it would pay off to have this training. Thankfully, those sort of spells were against the rules. Instead, they just got fire. Hopefully they could finish quickly before anyone else got hurt.

Nichlas could not believe the state his team was in and as soon as he got up and saw the line up he knew exactly what would happen and he did not like it one bit. Narrowing his eyes he would glare at team white and frosty calmness washed over him. He was not dumb and knew at the very moment it was not looking good for him but if they made his team lose, he would make them pay double. Or at least he would make their leader pay; he directed a glare at Kheanu, staring the boy down coldly. He would get his revenge, but a loss in this stupid game meant nothing and it wouldn't even be his fault. His team could have done better, clearly. He would show them how it's done; if he was done he would want to leave giving a impression that might change the game. He still could not believe that he was close to losing but that was one small loss and no one would know. No one who mattered at least.

Another failed spell pushed Adam along a dangerous cycle. Every slip-up made him more frustrated with his own inability; the agitation, in turn, made it harder to concentrate when he tried to cast again. He couldn't figure out what was wrong. Adam was doing every thing right — he was trying to, at least. What would everyone think of him, crumbling under pressure like this? It was agonizing embarrassment.
The boy flushed red again as he tried to tamp down his shame and anger, going through the steps to a proper spell like he'd learned in his lessons. Concentration. Adam was concentrating hard alright, but maybe that was the problem. Maybe he was overdoing it. He made a note to himself to concentrate less intensely, wondering if it would make any difference. Intent. His targets had been clear as possible without completely telegraphing his spells. Incantation. Sure, like that was the hard part. Adam let out an exasperated groan. His systems check turned up only one solution: do better.
So, for what felt like the billionth time, Adam tried his very best to do better.

Interacting with Team White, RPing as Alisa Sokolova
Alisa almost instinctively moved in to cover Mondelez – almost, because that she knew the best course of action didn't mean that she would ever voluntarily take a spell to the chest for anyone but her closest friends and family – and was too slow to entirely avoid the Knockback Jinx thrown her way. The hit stung, but it would sting less than the blow to her pride if they lost this match.
Preobrazhensky and Mondelez were too busy bickering to pay much attention to the duel, at least that was what it looked like to Alisa. The Hogwarts students, at least, seemed to have their heads in the game. She had half a mind to tell the Durmstrang boys to stop behaving like an old married couple, but it would have made the team look bad, so she refrained and instead shot a glance to their audience, trying to get another look at Milena.

Alexx needed something redeeming; she was searching for it. She didn't know that she would find it, but she was searching for it at least. Being the best that she could was important, because it would be noticable if she wasn't. Alexx didn't like when people noticed that she wasn't at the top of her game.
Whatever she needed to do, it needed to happen fast. It needed to happen now. The more she got injured then the less chances she got, and while Alexx was known for dodging hits in Quidditch, she wasn't known for it in dueling apparently.
And why not? She suspected it was a lack of confidence. There was nothing worse than lacking confidence, and it always paid a price in the end. It was paying it now, because that was Alexx's scapegoat. Not that she failed to practice or that she had a hard time in the classes that taught her these spells, but that she lacked confidence. Had she not, then this would be a different story. Alexx needed to carry herself the same way she did in Quidditch. Right now that seemed impossible. There was just something missing. Alexx needed to find it.

Round Seven | Last Round10th of July 2020, around 02:00pm
It was a surprisingly quick end to the Chess Combat game, after all.
Miss Séverin and Mister Harringtom were unlucky in that their spells failed, but less so than Miss Quinn, whose wand backfired on her with enough force to make her stagger in place. Miss Campbell, possibly due to floating midair and suddenly falling back down, seemed to have trouble aiming her spell correctly making her hit her teammate, Mr. Harringtom, instead of her intended target. Mr. Forsberg successfully jinxed his target, Mr. Preobrazhensky, before getting hit by two spells in the chest and getting knocked out, falling to the ground, unconscious. Mr. Hart got a shield spell up, but it would prove unnecessary as the game ended with the fall of the Black Queen. Miss Teague lost concentration on her Levitation Charm as she moved to another square. Mr. Mondelez spell went wide, missing the top of Mr. Forsberg's head by a bit, however, both Mr. Preobrazhensky' and Miss Sokolova's spells connected.
Seeing the Black Team's Queen fall, Zahid called for an end to the duel. “Congratulations, Mr. Hart, Miss Teague, Mr. Mondelez, Mr. Preobrazhensky and Miss Sokolova. Your team has won. Well fought, Miss Séverin, Miss Quinn, Mr. Forsberg, Mr. Harringtom and Miss Campbell. Those injured, please move over to our small med station, to get treated.” He pointed to where the small med station had been prepared though most of them should already be aware of it, as the earlier matches' participants would have been treated there already. Zahid would levitate Mr. Forsberg over to the med station himself to ensure he would quickly be healed back up.Chess Arena

Chess Combat, Game 3

Oliver raised his wand and cast a perfect shield charm. It was his very best spell, one he practiced more than any other. Self defense had been the boys motive to learn magic since day one at the school. He stood with the invisible shield spread out in front of him, blocking their queen, only for nothing to happen. His shining moment simply... passed by. He could almost hear cricket sounds in the distance as his action was useless.
Panting in sweat, Oliver looked over his shoulder to see the non-Hogwarts students successfully landing their hits. As the final flipendo impacted, knocking out the enemy Queen, Oliver's eyes teared up and he raised his arms into the air. "YES! YES WE DID IT!" he screeched, cheering, wand in hand. In that same moment, his cardboard armour gave up completely. It was holding litres of sweat and the tape's glue had all been fully washed off. His armour tore and fell. The chest piece, the arms and the legs all crumbled into a soggy pile at his feet. They revealed that the boy was only wearing underwear beneath the cardboard armour. Oliver stood there momentarily, no longer cheering, glistening with sweat. He resembled someone who had just stepped out of a shower.
Looking around at the crowd, the Ravenclaw quickly dashed off with solid 0 evasion. He'd look over his shoulder at Dymphna briefly before escaping off the pitch. Notably the crowd moved like the Red Sea did for Moses.
ACTION: Leaving.

── ❋ ──𝓕ocusing on casting her spell, Amadea waved her wand as she cast the Knockback Jinx, aiming for the Durmstrang boy who stood in front of her. Unfortunately, Amadea's spell backfired and shot off in a completely opposite direction, hitting Adam instead of the intended target. Amadea cringed inwardly and made a mental note to apologize to her friend once this whole things was over. She wondered what had gone wrong; usually she wasn't this terrible when it came to duelling but perhaps it was the extra pressure of having teammates or the fact that she hadn't duelled in a while.
It seemed like this round was not going well for the rest of her teammates as well. Amadea opened her mouth to shout some words of encouragement when she saw two spells flying toward Nichlas, their queen, and knock him backward. Uh oh. This was the end. While Amadea was disappointed that they had lost the Combat game, she knew that they had done the best they could do and she was happy that she had participated in it with her friends. Amadea came crashing back down onto the ground with a thud and quickly scrambled to her feet to assess the damage. Adam and Cecily both seemed to be hurt, but okay, and Amadea hoped that Nichlas would soon be back to full functionality. With one last congratulation to her team members, Amadea headed off the combat field.ACTION: Leaving── ❋ ──
