I wonder if the coding aspect of this couldn't be gotten around by adding bats under owls? Create a new subtype rather than code a whole new type of pet?

That's not really the problem. Afaik adding a pet is the same no matter what kind. The problem is that last time they added one (the black cat), it broke every pet anyone had ever gotten and admin had to fix them all manually it's just a stupid amount of work.

Dee is right, the way that the code is setup, there aren't subtypes, just pets. For example: owl0, owl1, rat1, rat2. Except all the animal names are in French.

Adding new pets would be neat, it's just that last time it happened it broke everything. There may be a secret way to do it without breaking every pet, but we aren't aware of it at the moment.

would we be allowed to add a "OWLs/NEWTs completed" section to our trunk so that index can just add it in as if it were a spell.. but in its own section of the trunk that can be seen by other members of the site? Because as of right now its only assistants, professors, administrators that can see report cards. Let's say in the future you decided you would one day allow index to approve the adult system stuff and just request the change in admin updates in the index forum... would this be effective?

It was considered and decided against because there's no point in adding yet another section to the trunk when OWLs/NEWTs are only needed for job applications. No one else needs that information and it would just clutter trunk posts further. But we may re-evaluate at another time if the current process does change or we realize it isn't working.

I'd love to have a section to RP in the future. It will take 7 RL years for Lithaen to graduate, so it will be nice to have a place to be an adult in a RP. I'm not sure this is possible, it's just an idea.

Adult characters can rp in all areas of the site except for Hogwarts (excluding Hogwarts staff). These areas include the Leaky Cauldron, Ministry, Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, and London and beyond. This is already quite an extensive list and really is only limited by your imagination since places outside of London can be rped

Yess, I know! I meant for students who'd like to rp their student character as an adult. I don't have an adult character yet

I understand. Students who graduate will be treated the same an any other adult character and be able to go to all the same places as them, listed above.
