Frustration started to get the better of Neculai. "Oh come on! Right in front of me and I still miss?!" It wasn't even as if his target tried to dodge it... At the end of his rope the Dhampir thought on how to proceed. The only way he could. By keeping a clear head and try again. It was just as when he attended classes. This was the first time he was dueling. Same as in class when it was the first time he learned new spells. Sometimes it went great and other times... You get frustrated and need to try multiple times. "Don't give up just yet, Neculai." He muttered to himself. It ain't over until its over. Closing his eyes for a brief second and taking a deep breath. The scarlet eyes once more focused on a new target and the wand was elevated towards it.

Erik was starting to fume. What is wrong with my wand? Did something break inside? Out of frustration he knocked with the palm of his hand on the pommel of his wand and just shake it up and down in the air. Like that would magically solve everything, that according to Erik, was wrong with it. I know Olivander said I had to go through some strife with this wand before it really connected, but this is just ridiculous!, he silently mumbled to his wand. As he looked around there was only one move left for him. Please, wand. Do your thing! With that he made the familiar wand movement and said the incantation. Hopefully now his wand would do what he asked it to do.

Fool! You can't even aim properly! What are you even still doing on the field?

Johannes bit back a snarl at the taunt, morengo eyes venomous as they stared up at the accuser. The sting of humiliation, the burn of self-disappointment, he was a liability at the moment if anything. God, he swore he was plenty good with aim- his grandfather said he was getting better every practice, and that wasn't even with a wand half the time- but it was as if his wand completely rejected his attempt today. The spells he cast worked, that much was certain, but the moment they emerged from their holding, they swung out of control. How disappointing- he was putting up a bad face for himself, his family, hell, Durmstrang itself.

Another person down. Alexei was open from the front. Distracted by the taunt and the very dire situation that Team White had been put in, he didn't notice a wand pointed his way and- darkness, again. Damn it! A growl of frustration left him as he took a hand up to rip the blindfold off. This time he didn't even care about how much his curls flattened against his face like a spongey barrier between one eye and the cloth, how they would inevitably be a pain to work with later. He was getting sick of this.

Finally. Her spell worked and hit her target flawlessly, a blindfold wrapping around his face. In fact, the spell cast felt so powerful it almost made up for the past couple of failures, but not quite. All that frustration must've count for something, though, so she held onto it--perhaps she cast better when she was mad.

The two Ilvermorny girls on her team absolutely destroyed the rook standing in front of White's Queen. He didn't get back up. Bridget felt sorry for him, sure, but not at all guilty. For one, he wasn't her friend like Katrina was, and she'd had no part in his defeat. This was dueling, and the whole point was pretty much to nail your opponent with spells until they dropped.

Three versus five. Things were definitely looking up for her team, especially since one of Team White's players was blindfolded from her last spell and their Queen was vulnerable. They needed to make the most of this opportunity.

Another successful flipendo was cast in the direction of her opponent, and with that and the help from Karilyna, he fell to the ground. She changed slightly and hoped he wouldn’t have any hard feelings by the end of the game, perhaps she’d need to check in on him after if she got the chance. Before she'd taken her eyes of the boy who was being helped off the board, she felt and impact crash into her body, followed by pain, followed by, the inability to hold back laughter. Her face twisted into a pained grimace before quickly stretching to a smile as she laughed and clasped her arm over her tummy. The girl had a high pain tolerance, but If there was one thing she hated, it was being tickled. Trying her best to gather her thoughts in between strained sniffles and laughter, she attempted to decide her next move.

Even Karilyna had to admit she was getting awfully predictable. After all, hadn't she just cast the Knockback Jinx five times in a row? Honestly, the consistency was unusual for the spontaneous girl, but at least she was accurate and her spells potent. But what to cast next? Four of the white team's players still stood on the other side of the board, and while her eyes remained peeled for any opportunity to hit the opposing queen with a spell ─ that was the point of the game, was it not? ─ there was always someone standing in front of him. It was a smart move, of course, and her team was doing the same, but still… irritating, to say the least.

But she had to get to the queen, and thus, there was only one target for her (and only one person she could even hit, really). "Flipendo." Of course. Another good cast, and light was flying out of her wand once more, in an almost practiced manner. Her Flipendo joined Evanore's ─ Ilvermorny power ─ and flew forwards, both hitting their marks. The blonde boy crumpled to the board, remaining there without any further motion. Although Karilyna still looked on rather indifferently, noting with satisfaction how the white team's queen was now exposed, there was a twinge of guilt like the one earlier. She was set upon the fact that this was a duel, and duels without pain were, well, not even duels, but there was just something about seeing someone passed out, her own actions being a good part of the reason why.

As Evanore was hit by the Tickling Charm, Karilyna bit her lip, eyes hardening. Though the tall girl was several years older than herself, they were housemates, and suffering through magically induced tickling seemed horrible. Besides, had Evanore not been standing there, Karilyna herself would've been hit, and that was most definitely not what the team needed. But the raven-haired girl was confident in her team, feeling that they most certainly had the upper hand. Now, all they had to do was strike.

Even with the nagging voice which reminded her that she'd now helped knock two, not just one, people unconscious, the Thunderbird fingered her wand, impish smile still on her face. The heat of the battle was no time to dwell on things much more easily dealt with after everything was over.

She was on a roll and she was hoping that her streak continued. But she knew that her luck always ran out when she needed it the most so her fingers were crossed that she wouldn't fail this time around. Her team needed her...or what was left of them. Raine sighed as she watched Milo get levitated off the field and through the barrier. It was all or nothing for her team and she was determined to win...

Or get eliminated trying.

So, nearly half of his team was unconscious and removed from the board. That didn't bode well. They had managed some damage to the other team, but nothing quite like the damage they had recieved. He crossed his arms and cursed in Russian as he tried to think of something to do. He couldn't just be defeated like this.

No, he had to win or pass out trying.

Long story short, I survived

Just as the blonde boy stood back up shakily he lifted his head only for his gaze to be met with two wands pointed at him. Before he could do or say anything he felt the impact, knowing the spells had successfully (for them at least) hit their target. Milo let out a cry of pain as he got blasted backwards yet again, his head colliding with the board this time versus his arm. His vision blurred and more spells were shouted around him. He felt as if he had let down his team.

The boy knew he could have done better, made better decisions if only he could cast correctly or even dodged one turn, he would still be standing right now. The ground suddenly became light below him as if he were floating. His head lolled to the side before everything faded to black.

Chess Combat, Game TWO

With two players down, Team White had to come up with something. Set defences and have someone constantly suppressing the opponent's players. For example, dodging for the Queen, and keeping to harass the opponent with spells — for Raine.

And the opponent went full offence. 4 out of 5 spells went straight towards the white Queen. Alexei had to demonstrate unbelievable evasion to avoid almost all of the spells except one. The one that hits the hardest (Karilyna's). Not standing still, but also not falling, Alexei continued to fight.

Erik and Evanore shot their spells towards Alexei, but their shots took an unexpected path and decided to avoid the intended target. And Neculai's spell again went much farther away almost hitting the medbay near the battlefield.

While everyone focused on the Queen, there's been a silent 1 on 1 duel since the beginning — Bridget vs Johannes. The boy was disoriented by the previous spell, which made him lose another step against the Hogwarts girl. Removing the blindfold to find out he was on fire. Not figuratively speaking.

The clock was ticking.
