Well, Colin had of course known about Clair and heard some things from friends last year; and they'd even traded some broom racing trash talk before the race. He thought she was cool, but --- you know, Ravenclaw! Would she even consider liking a lowly snake? But he really noticed Clair during the line up. Just --- something about her. It was his first race and it was really quite rough and, well, during it, something deep inside Colin kind of felt drawn to her. When she got hurt and cried out, he really felt bad! I mean, all that smack talk about roasting the birds and all --- well, maybe the other birds, but, Clair?

Afterwards, they met in the Leaky Cauldron and Colin's heart melted! She ticked all the boxes! I mean, reading and studying and sports! And she likes animals too! I mean Colin gets along well with beasties --- mostly wild creatures like ravens and owls but also hunting birds like hawks and falcons and eagles, but he's not entirely unfamiliar with cows and goats and horses.

And she's got a great sense of humour and she likes to tease! What's not to like? Colin is 100% smitten! And it looks like they'll be on the train together too! And then --- well, maybe very soon --- er --- Colin shall ask Clair out properly!

And then --- we shall see!

Edit: He also threw a apple at her and she did not run away.
