Thora couldn't suppress a groan as she watched one of her own teammates literally try to attack someone--no, the scary raven-haired girl--out of angst. It was simply idiotic to get yourself disqualified just to get at someone once. The worst part? He wasn't even able to lay a finger on the girl. No, his fist found the cheek of another blue team player instead. At least the crazy boy had done something in his mad rush, so his stupid sacrifice wasn't for nothing.
"Wow," Thora muttered as Aurelia removed her cheating teammate from the game. Things were no longer looking so great for the red team, as their opponents had just cast several successful Incendios that sent the crimson banner crackling as the flames started to eat through the fabric. They'd started out on the upper hand, with early successes, but unfortunately were… Falling behind?
Another very audible groan escaped from Thora's mouth as she attempted yet another spell and completely missed her target. Okay, so she'd been able to make a spell's telltale beam of light, but she apparently hadn't pointed at the right spot. She'd almost hit another student. Heck, it had been an accident, but there was no telling how other people reacted. Thora just hoped she wouldn't end up with the same fate as the other team's players, being attacked for a mistake.
Well, that was just amazing. "Come on, guys, we can do this," Thora called to her teammates as she clutched her aspen wand harder. It was just a game, yes, but still, it was frustrating. Frustrating that she was incapable of casting a spell properly. Frustrating that they'd started losing their lead so quickly. But in all good time, this would only last so long.

Ru watched with horror as Erik charged at Astrea. Perhaps she should have heard the foreshadowing in the condescending manner in which he had first addressed the team. She had never met him outside of SWAG events, but she knew one thing: she did not like this boy. He was simply, for lack of a better word, a manic. From where she stood, she could hear Evelynn's calls for him to stop, but they apparently fell on deaf ears as Erik kept running. But his punch did not fall on his intended, but rather another blue player who had stepped in to take the blow. What a brave bunch the blue team had turned out to be.
Beyond that bravery, they were clearly ahead. Beyond the damage, the red team had now lost a player, which was not a good way to continue. She couldn't help but wonder if the tide was turning against them--and all because of one person's ego. Ugh, she didn't want to consider it.
Staying close to Thora and hearing her rally to the team, she remembered what she had to do. They were playing a game as Thora had so kindly reminded her only moments ago. A game and they had to win. Steadying her grip on her wand, she held her position and pointed clearly at the flag. "Incendio," she said the incantation for a third time and once again she was blessed with a successful cast. She was really surprised to be doing well especially when someone as gifted as Thora seemed to be having an off day. But she smiled lightly at her friend. There was still time. If they worked together perhaps they could still pull this off. That was what she hoped anyway.

abilites terrible presence
»»————————- ♔ ————————-««Everything was escalating, everything was suddenly intensifying. Astrea's heartbeat felt like a gong rattling in her chest, the phantom vibrations buzzed through her entire body in the form of intoxicating triumph. The game faded from her mind to focus only on those green eyes, those eyes so intent on revenge and harm and oh- the feeling of true danger. The chilly air nipping teasingly at her ears as if warning her, warning her against whatever she was doing, but she had already done it and there was no turning back, and she was sure they would be tinged cherry red by the end of the game. If she was still in the game by the end, of course.
"Flipendo!" The simple word tumbled from pink lips with fervour, the telltale red light erupting from the tip of her wand from the corner of her vision. A good execution- it would take the blonde reeling back and that was why it was just as perfect-
A looming wall of someone suddenly barged in front of the aristocrat, reckless and broad- and Astrea's eyes widened akin to silver dinner plates because no- No! This was not supposed to happen. The blow was not meant for whatever good samaritan of a teammate had just taken the blow, both blows.
Astrea reeled back a few stumbling steps as the fellow blue was thrown away forcefully, her shoes making deep imprints in the winter-dusted dirt and the slowly setting sun casting everything in a red gleam that so closely resembled the red of her spell, the red of the house Gryffindor- because if this righteous stranger she didn't even know the name or face of yet had jumped in front of her at his own expense, what other house would he be?
Her lagging brain suddenly caught up with her with such an intensity that it near gave her whiplash and suddenly she was at her saviour's side, her body scrambling over and staccato breath wispy clouds of hot air puffing into the Scottish air. "Are- are you alright? Why did you-"
The damage looked painful- very painful- and Astrea was sure that her blow had also packed a punch. She stole a glance upwards to where she had been previously standing, her vicious attacker on the floor frozen with the Bodybinding spell.
What a great, absolutely fantastic, first impression. To the club and her fellow club members.Action: Doing as strategised.

Whether its was a sense of awareness or the complete lack of it, was questionable as the Gryffindor stood close by the team's flag and only barely noticed the trouble going on elsewhere on the field. As he turned around he just saw Erik on their side of the field, wondering in complete astonishment what the heck the Slytherin was doing there. Was he not aware that he would be disqualified for this? He clearly had aimed for a physical attack and seemed to be fuming with uncontrolled anger, making the third year wonder what had lead to this in the first place. This was all just a game after all... it was meant to be fun!
The referees stepped in and had the situation under control, but the game was not stopped, so the third year was sure, that they were supposed to continue casting. Warily hr watched what the Ravenclaw guarding their flag the previous few rounds was doing now; Alan shook his head, snorting amused, as he wished him luck, before the little lion got ready for his own action. It was something the Gryffindor wished, would aid his team in winning, as he hoped they would. But who knows what the other team had planned this round, Alan could only assume they were up to the challenge.

River didn’t have time to process what had just gone down before she found herself thrown to the ground seemingly out of nowhere. It didn’t take long before she put two and two together and realized her attempted spell had backfired. Her initial target didn’t even seem to notice, so the spell for sure hadn’t succeeded.
The young Dhampir was skilled in keeping her cool, but she could not deny there was a burning sensation of annoyance and anger building at this point. She had been useless, missing one spell after the other and watching their flag burn down. River considered just staying on the ground, giving into her lack of luck for this game and just go inside to take a nap.
Luckily some of the students on her team seemed to be on top of their game, and they had managed to do some harm to the opposing team's flag.
A metal-like scent made it to the Dhampir’s nose, and her idea of staying down flew out the window. She swiftly got up and took a look around, it wasn’t difficult to notice where the smell was coming from. She shook her head quickly, trying to shake her attention off the blood, and with the scent of smoke and fire thrown into the mix, she managed to keep her mind on the game. Not once in the past years had she been completely compelled by a bloody situation like this, and today wasn’t going to be any different. She shifter her attention back to the flag, and the game as she decided her next action.Action || Doing as Strategized

It was like it all happened in slow motion. He saw his friend run towards the terrifying Slytherin girl to show her the mistake she had made by targetting him. As Aurelia tried to interfere by casting a spell at him. The rules were clear... And still the hotheaded boy had let his pride get in the way of his better judgement. The pale boy shook his head. "Why does he always have to do stunts like these?! Can't he just follow the rules for once! No, he would always be this brasent. This move might have doomed our team."
Blood red eyes were glued on the blonde Slytherin boy as the scene that unfolded next would have a catastrophic outcome. Erik's fist had collided with a Gryffindor boy that had recently joined the club. Neculai chuckled at this sight. "Oh boy, he's gonna be pissed he failed that one. But one the bright side he atleast hit a Gryffindor. So it wasn't a complete failure." But then he smelled something.
"NO!" Was all that escaped his lips as the sweet metallic smell filled his nose. Fangs cut through his pink gum as they appeared. Blood filling his mouth and thus even tasting the sweet nectar. The young dhampir boy clenched his teeth as he tried with every fiber of himself to restrain himself. Grasping and trying to hold on to his self-control.
He never had learned how one could control himself properly. Being raised by his grandfather he had always immediately fed when the Clan had hunted. Through gritted teeth he managed to utter the words: "I'm so sorry..." As those words left his lips so did he let go. His scarlet eyes once again looked at the other team, but this time he wasn't out for winning... He ran, his face contorted in a twisted, crooked grin. The Neculai everyone knew was no more.

Fire reigned, and no longer did twilight seem quite so near at hand. Flickering light came and went, casting the shadows of participants below to dance menacingly across the grass, sewing additional confusion in the already existing chaos. Shouts faded into each other, murmurs disappeared into the hiss and crackle of the flags burning and crumbling like beacons of hope and despair. Amidst it all, Evelynn tried to keep her bearings.
"Oh come ooon," Evleynn hissed under her breath as she watched the flare of her spell vanish into the distance.
Again.
Her patience was certainly being tried. This was so unlike her. Historically, it had been the spells themselves that had caused her no end of annoyance in their elusive nature to allow their successful cast. Typically, she had no issue navigating a complex field, blocking out distraction, and honing in on her target. Generally, she had very good aim. This pattern of cast and miss was quickly growing old, and quickly wearing on her. It was bad enough that she was having to work in a team environment — she was usually more into solo sports — and rely on others to help achieve the win. She was definitely feeling the burden of failure for having been unsuccessful in stopping the blonde boy from charging ahead. In a way, she may as well not have been there at all for all the good her presence on the team was doing.
She wasn't out, however. Not yet. Nor would her attention fix itself for long in that spiraling train of thought. Aurelia's shout led her to snap her attention back over to where the charging boy had finally ended up, just in time to see him toppling forward and D'Spacito, by the looks of it, being thrown forward as though hit by something from behind. She didn't have time to make sense of that, though, as another shout of "NO!" sounded from somewhere behind her. No surprise, really. She wasn't particularly happy about the disqualification either, and the shout articulated her internal frustration quite accurately.
Something wasn't quite right, however. Feet padded against grass, pounding as though someone had just bolted into a run. As they grew louder, so did the beat of her heart. "Not again.." She murmured mostly to herself, not even realizing at this point that the sneezing had finally stopped, as she wheeled around to see who in the hell this time had decided to forsake reason for brawn. A figure raced towards her. There was no way to know he wasn't aiming for her, specifically, but rather the heroic figure beyond her who had jumped in between the Slytherin and his target. Nor was there any way for her to discern his intent.
Ball of fire after ball of fire whizzed one way or another overhead, illuminating his face and frame briefly before casting him once again in darkness as they disappeared. He neared. Faster than she would have expected. Faster than she had thought a human could run. Evelynn grew still. Another sphere of flame cast him in brief light. His eyes burned scarlet. The lion forgot to breath. The gap lessened even further. Fingers tightened about her wand. Tighter. He was closer still, his face twisted, fire casting his features into stark relief that gave him the appearance of a feral animal. A monster. Her knuckles grew white. Then they glinted in the darkness. Two canines. Much larger and longer than any normal canines had any right to be.
With a gasp, Evelynn turned fully about, and retreated backwards, instinct to flee stronger than she had ever felt. She stumbled. Her foot slipped on a patch of dewy ground. She fell. Her rear hit the ground, the landing softened by an outstretched hand. The monster grew nearer still. Convinced that she was about to be attacked, that her nightmares were about to be made a reality, survival kicking in and taking over, she did the first thing that came to mind.
Evelynn shot her hand up and towards the oncoming creature and shrieked, "LUMOS!"

It was a bit hard to explain Rafael’s train-of-thought as he stared down the field, his eyes trained on the werewolf in question – he was at an utter loss, his hands hanging at his sides limply and his mouth agape, an eye raised in a mixture of confusion and disbelief. There simply wasn't a facial expression that would portray what was going on in his head. He supposed a part of him was a bit fearful, seeing the Erik's blind rage. The boy obviously wasn’t happy about something, as his actions clearly showed. This led Raf to wonder exactly what the root cause for his rage was, and how he was going to relieve it. Why's he crossing into our bloody territory? What's got him in a twist?
The curiosity burning within the boy soon gave way to another feeling - his most fearful emotion. His anger had always been quite explosive, as he'd never really been taught how to control it. What could he do? The boy was impeding on their territory, disrupting their game! He should have been on his own side, playing the game how it was supposed to be played, as any right-minded player would have. A scowl fell upon the Gryffindor’s features in thought, and he continued to humor himself with the idea a bit as his eyes traced the were-boy's path of destruction –
It took Rafa a moment to realize that the boy was aiming for one of his teammates - a girl, at that. A girl. In the very moment that the Gryffindor registered what was going on, all rational thoughts and feelings fell away promptly, replaced by pure reflex, spurring the boy into action. Instead of waiting a moment longer to watch the turnout, or assess the situation for a proper plan of action, the boy had instinctively launched himself across the field [Astrea hadn’t been very far in the first place], a look of complete determination on his features, one intent in the young boy’s mind – protecting his female teammate.
[He should have learned by now that donning the white cloak always resulted in pain. After all, he’d been in enough scenarios in his past life, that by now one would have thought the fact would have reached him. Apparently not, as the boy’s head was still as thick as ever, his impulses ever sharp and uncontrollable.]
What happened next was, in Rafael’s mind, incredibly hard to explain. It was as if the pain had hit him from all sides, an explosion of torment burning through his head and clouding his mind like a curtain of agony. He could hardly register the world spinning out before his eyes – the next thing he realized, he was on the ground, his hands in the grass and splotches of color dancing before his eyes. [How he hadn’t been knocked out, he would never know. The blows had been of considerable power– perhaps his own resolve was more powerful than he realized.] A short groan of pain escaped his lips as he blinked slowly, a state of shock having taken control of his limbs, his muscles rigid and alien. It took a moment for the feeling to wear off, and he released a breath, the expansion of his lungs irritating the soreness in his back – had he been hit from the back, too? Another short wave of pain came to him as he inhaled once more. Yes, it would seem so. His hands came up to touch his face, meeting a moist, sticky substance. Blood. His eyes widened slightly as he drew his hand back, the tips of his fingers coated with red. It was then the weight of the situation actually hit him – he had been punched.
He had been punched.
[The boy had always owned a particularly explosive anger, one that had gotten him in many a dangerous situation. He should have learned self-control by now – it was certainly a shame.]
It seemed as if Astrea had spoken just in time, ripping Rafael from any vengeful thoughts or stupid actions he could have put into play. "Are- are you alright? Why did you – “ The boy wished he could say he was listening, but all he could focus on was the horrifying feeling that had suddenly entered his airspace, a creeping feeling crawling down his spine, sending him into a shiver, his hairs standing on end. It was utterly unexplainable – and utterly disturbing. As a result, he couldn’t help but scowl at the girl, his eyes narrowing and his fingers digging into the grass beneath him. “I’m fine,” he said, his voice taking a sharp tone as he pushed himself off the ground. His sleeve quickly met his eye, wiping off any excess blood gracing his face. His eyes regarded Erik once again, his scowl only growing deeper. “Bloody psychopath,” he sneered. It seemed as if someone had put the second year in a body-bind curse, though he couldn’t exactly register who at the moment. The sight of the boy sent his own mind spiraling, his thoughts dancing with the possibilities of revenge. It would be so easy to just…
It seemed as if he wouldn’t have the time to complete his thought, however, as Raf’s attention was quickly captured by something else – a movement had caught his eyes, fast and sharp. His vision shifted up, finding a vaguely familiar face. A prefect. Though, you wouldn’t be able to tell by his actions – it was ever apparent, the longer he watched, that the older boy was crossing the boundaries of his team, heading straight in the direction of…. Oh, no. It took a moment for Aurelia’s words to come back to him, a reminiscence of their past encounter. …. Dhampirs have pale-corpse like skin and sunken blood-red eyes. They have gaps in their teeth where you’d find your incisors… With growing realization, the younger boy scanned the Prefect for the distinct signs….
His eyes widened in realization, his hand immediately flying for his wand, lying only a few feet away. Grasping it firmly in his hand, he held it in front of him, bringing his legs close to him as to defend himself on the grass of the messy grounds. His features settling in a dangerous sort of look, his body tense and ready to fire, he gritted his teeth slightly, all his focus zoning in on one target. Come the boy too close, he would fire a spell – it didn’t matter which one.

Inhale...Exhale...Inhale...Exhale...Inhale...Exhale. For an entire the round, the boy just stood there. He had closed his eyes and focused on his breathing, in through his nose, out through his mouth. Every time his mind wandered back to the Masquerade, Jorah returned his focus back to his breathing. The screams of horror and the heat of the flames continually faded with each passing breathe until...silence. Neither the flapping of the flag above rustling in the winter wind, nor the screams of the SWAG club casting spells could be heard. There was only the sound of his breathe. In and out. In and out. Jorah centered himself, his fear melting away. Amid the chaos of the fighting around him, for the first time in a long time, he found peace. Jorah's eye's sprang open. His anime powers had activated and this wasn't even his final form.
He turned to face the flag pole just behind him. He ripped off his blue and bronze scarf and looped it around the pole before tightly wrapping the ends around each hand. (Cue the music) "We must be swift as the coursing river," Jorah sang as he hopped onto the flag pole. He wrapped his thighs around the bar and pressed against it with the top of his feet. "With all the force of a great typhoon," Jorah kicked up while he pulled himself higher with the scarf, before sliding the scarf further up and securing his position. "With all the strength of a raging fire," Jorah inched higher and higher towards the flag. "Mysterious as the dark side of the moooon."
