Great Gates of Hogwarts: Ilvermorny Arrival Open

Iris was confused, "Mrs. Doe-eyes"? What does that mean? Is it a nickname? She decided to not bring it up if it was an inside joke. She had the feeling she was intruding anyway. She let it slide, but thought about mentioning it if it came up again.

"Ya, dying is off the table. No dying allowed, it ruins the fun." Iris grinned, "No, ugh- I just realized that because you said that! I thought we could get away with less work- instead we just go somewhere else to learn." Iris grin turned into a fake scowl, "Darn learning." She laughed inside at her ignorance letting the smile reach her eyes.

The Thunderbird allowed the conversation to continue a bit before saying something again. "Ya, I had a Quill Pal. We both kinda forgot about it I guess. We only got like two letters back and forth. Her name was like Maggie or something.

Iris did wish they had talked more, it would be beneficial to know a bit more about Hogwarts. She seemed so out of place right now. Iris smiled again, at least she was talking to somebody instead of standing awkwardly in the corner.

Astrid nodded, keeping a little list of everyone's notes of Hogwarts. More for fun than for actual research, but it could be helpful in the future, right?

"Okay, so we've got a mini-plan. Check out the Pitch. Don't go into the Forbidden Forest. Explore the castle. I am missing anything? Right, don't die." She smiled, joking. Sure, a little dark, but it was better to laugh at it than to cry about it.

"Oh, right. Learning. Sorry to go against all y'all, but I think learning itself is fine. It's just school. That- that can stop. Please." She put her hands up in mock surrender, laughing. She already felt okay with joking with these people. That was nice. She wasn't sure how they felt about her, but she was going to take advantage of this time, where she felt it was fine to be open and joking.

"My Quill Pal was nice. She seemed fine. I think I would like to meet her, but I don't really think it's likely that we cross paths. She seemed quite different in terms of personality really. Her name was Elzabeth, I believe. Remember it because there's no I." Astrid shrugged, not entirely sure what to talk about. Hopefully someone else could find a way to keep this going.

Karilyna cringed as Iris asked about Miss Doe-Eyes. Seriously? She made a note to ask Phyllis about that later. She seriously did not need her pet name out there. Better to keep quiet, she thought. As nobody asked more about it, Karilyna just kept her mouth shut. Thanks Phyllis...

"Yes, we have to check out the pitch, explore, whatever..." Karilyna answered, "And definitely don't die," she stifled a smile. It wasn't like she didn't appreciate the joke or anything, it was was just that... she probably understood that pun more than anyone. Honestly, the amount of death she'd been through was appalling, given her age and still-positive attitude.

"Elzabeth? That's a pretty cool name," Karilyna commented, "Mine was named Teiki. Nice girl, I think... Hopefully I can meet her while we're here." This conversation was getting awfully dry... "And no, I totally agree, Astrid. Learning is great, it's just that the Ilvermorny professors suck. And the food's not great either. Hopefully the food's better here..." This was so awkward. Karilyna was not normally one to admit hosting a boring conversation, but the Hogwarts staff was taking so long to let them in, this might've been one of the driest conversations ever. "Why won't they let us in..." Karilyna groaned, probably voicing the thoughts of all four girls.

Oops. Phyllis had just called Karilyna Miss Doe-Eyes in front of other people that although nice weren't exactly their BFFs yet. She'd have to apologize later. Maybe even give her friend permission to call her by her nickname once in public, depending on if she was feeling generous or not.

"Quidditch it is! Once we figure out what the heck we're doing I'll let you guys know and we can take over the Pitch. Maybe show up some Hogwarts students if they're there. Or just kick them out if you want, depends on your comfort-level."

"Eh, learning's okay. I mean, I'm not against new magic and stuff. So I don't hate it, but let's just say I'd rather spend my time elsewhere. Um, from what I've heard the food here is way better. And they'll probably put extra effort in to impress their guests. At least until they see how unimpressive we are," Phyllis answered with a glance over at their ridiculous headmaster and fellow problematic upperclassmen. It looked like the first years would have to carry the team. Oh well.

"You know what, let's head inside. Unless we run across some super obnoxiously bossy student I doubt anyone'll stop us. I'm hungry and Hogwarts can only show off its backyard for so long before it gets old. Inside should be awesome anyways."

With her fellow students' consent, the decision was made. The squad stormed the castle (just as they'd joked earlier). Heading into the foreign school, they were ready for whatever adventures it would hold.

OOC: I know this thread is pretty much inactive, but Meenauh and I wanted to finish up our interaction
Meenauh caught Alexx's attention once more. "Oui! Greater Manchester! My family owns a mansion there!" She nodded enthusiastically. "I haven't always lived there, but it's nice enough I suppose. Nothing compared to my mansion in France, but it does the job."

She didn't mean to sound so rich and nearly snobby, but she also wasn't quite used to everyone she met not owning a mansion of their own. Not everyone is rich, Alexx. She had to remind herself that she was in the lucky 1% financially. However, she's lived under every circumstance. Cramped apartments and run-down motels, 1920's houses in America with screendoors and creaking porches, right up to huge mansions that went on for as far as the eye could see. She's lived everywhere, under every circumstance.

She tapped her chin thoughtfully. "But I suppose it has its benefits. New experiences. The English are so unique. I bet the Canadian boy agrees." She noted, glancing over at Simon. "I do hold residence in the States, though. New Orleans, specifically. The French Quarter. But it is not my main residence." She informed Meenauh, nodding thoughtfully.

"May I ask why the interest in my residence? Manchester is not all that exciting." This statement was followed with a chuckle as her eyes turned back to her fellow reporter, curiously prodding at her question.

So, England, France and States. Meenauh noticed Alexx was, let's put it this way — extravagant, but she never noticed she was outrageously rich.
"Minus ten points, Meenauh, for lack of observance," the voice in her head counted.

"Okay, maybe there's nothing important in this, Meenauh", the other voice continued digging her head deeper, "Do you think you can make friends? Look at you, exclaiming you're from Manchester too."

"Why did you have to move to Manchester then? France is not that far from England and you could keep living there even if you're attending Hogwarts? I understand Manchester is not the best place, though," she sort of unexpectedly barked at Alexx, and felt a strange incoming stream of patriotism, which she couldn't even believe she had. There was no sense in patriotism. Cities and countries held nothing precious in particular. She had to be the man of the world. The whole world is her home. That was a reasonable conclusion.

But the reason couldn't oppose real feelings. She instantly felt sad. She was spending the whole year apart from her parents. Apart from her home. Even this summer she spent only a week home before going back to Hogwarts. Damn the summer camp. Damn whatever business her parents had throughout almost the whole summer that they couldn't take her with them. Damn it all. Damn Manchester.

She felt all the scarlet firing up inside her, which was basically the next stage after the instant sadness — things that never happened to Meenauh before the previous end of the year. Was it growing up? Was it the extension of her emotional range, because she actually started to be a part of a community, not "ghetto" child living in a magical bubble with her parents.

Such a whirlwind of emotions was a new thing to her. She was balancing between crying and screaming. And she couldn't explain the particular reason even to herself. There was no point in continuing the conversation, especially that she didn't even want to start it in the first place.

"Excuse me, guys, I am getting a bit nauseous for no apparent reason, I think I'll head to the hospital wing," she sort of lied (was it her first lie ever?) as she did have the feeling, but had no intention of visiting any other place with people present.

Just to make sure there is a conclusion here and that everyone leaves. Headmaster Lazarus Plott looks around as the lacking welcome. It is an utter disappointment. Insulting really, the Headmaster never even had the courtesy to show. Music started to play, it was as if there was a disembodied band playing in each of the carriages. The tune was catchy, familiar to people that enjoy show tunes: Let Me Be Your Star - Smash. It was uncomfortably loud as he commanded the wagons onward.

If anyone was sleeping or hiding in the woods, it was painfully apparent that Ilvermorny had arrived. Headmaster Plott would be the last to enter, allowing the gates to close behind him. "I expected something... bigger," he commented to himself as he looked at the great Scottish Castle in the distance. He had always wanted to see the fabled Hogwarts that he had heard so much about. "We mustn't tarry, our public awaits!"

Little did everyone, including Headmaster Plott, know that they would be forever changed once they stepped foot on Hogwart's grounds. The journey to the doorstep of the wizarding school was not particularly interesting, the Headmaster seemed to be an endless spring of energy and flamboyance much to the potential embarrassment of the muggle-borns with a smattering of wizard-born and pure-blood among them for 'diversity.'
