Entering the last year of her Superior schooling at Castelobruxo, Manu was at the top of her game. Duelling-wise, she hadn't lost in ages; academically, she was soaring to the top. The only issue was the dreaded question... What will you be after graduation?

The issue was not that Manu did not have dreams - oh, no, she had plenty of those. Ambition was her lifeblood, in a sense, and it couldn't be said that she didn't have plans for the world that she fully intended to make happen someday. The issue was how she would go about carrying out these plans - because, unfortunately, she would have to make all her dreams come true within the governing organisation of Brazil. After all, simply making changes without participating in the government is what's known as dictatorship - or, in Manu's eyes, bullying. Her whole desire was to rid the magical world of such problems, so she'd have to go about doing it the right way. But how?

Her father Mateo, a Muggle, was a lawyer; her mother Mira, a witch, worked in magical politics. Both had strongly suggested, on more than one occasion, that they would love for Manu to follow a similar path - and while the young girl had resisted becoming a copy of her parents in her youth, she was beginning to understand more and more why they had chosen their respective careers. Of course, she didn't want to work in the Muggle world, and though Manu loved her mother she despised the very idea of politics. Just bullies with more money and sharper clothes, most of her mother's coworkers were. Thusly she started looking into the idea, towards the tail end of the summer camp in London, into attending a magical law school.

Surely there were some? Right?

In doing so, Manu discovered the long, grisly process that becoming a prosecutor - someone who tore down the evil, rather than public defenders like her father who came to their rescue - would take. A year of experience in the courts working as a scribe, or as a low-level Ministry employee, before she could even so much as begin the study of law? It seemed to the seventh-year that she had better get started on her studies as soon as possible, so as to excel in her schooling once she did finally reach it.

And so the duellist, one of Castelobruxo's finest, turned her attention to History of Magic - history, as it was simply called in Brazil. She did not let her perfectionism with a wand begin to fail, but otherwise devoted all her free time through the last week of camp and the first few weeks of school - and beyond - to reading through every history and law book her tentmates and the Castelobruxo library had to offer. By the time graduation rolled around at the end of the year, she would be top of the class in a subject she had originally dispelled as nothing but fairy tales. No, Manu would make it real - and rewrite it to be better, someday.

Sometimes looks just do not do it for you. In a school filled with lovely creatures and part Veela's, it is indeed possible that some have become inoculated to their charms.

Prerequisite: None

Effect: Aesthetic effects such as the lovely creature ability, a Veela's alluring, certain charms, potions and jinxes that would normally cause an effect based on aesthetic beauty do not work on you as you are immune to them. This does not apply to love potions or spells.

Metamorphmagi that take this ability can become Inspired by users that have the ability alluring or lovely creature. Inspired metamorphs gain a (+1) to a stat of their choice as long as there is a conscious, present alluring creature in the thread with them. This does not break caps nor does it stack if multiple applicate users are present.

Jarden could very aptly be described as 'non-plussed' when faced with beautiful people. A part of it could have been that he never really cared how people looked, or that he thought no one could be more enticing than nature, a mix of everything he had been taught. Equality being the main theme.

He had enough odd looks for when his emotions got out of control that he didn't feel like anyone should be treated in a different way because of their looks, positive or negative allegations alike. And quite frankly, who had the time to care about how other people looked? And when there was so much to find and understand? All that mattered to him was if you were willing to get your hands dirty with a little exploring.

Was he simple minded? Perhaps. But he was also discerning with who he associated with and how he perceived first impressions. The first step to self growth, as his mother always said, was finding who you wanted to be, and how you wanted to act. Not caring how others looked was a conscious choice, one needed to actually be a helpful member of society, in his opinion.

His twin sister, Mayah, had always wanted to be 'prettier' or have something she didn't. Be it blue eyes, lighter hair, it was always something. Jarden himself never understood why, she was perfectly fine to him. But he understood that he likely never would know why she felt like that. His older sister Isabella felt like that, too, apparently.

If he could, he would make it so that they didn't care so much. maybe then they'd spend more time with him.

Being a people watcher of sorts, he was very familiar with how prejudiced people could be based on someone's physical appearance. And sometimes, not often, he got rather angry when he saw people do that. Treat someone with dignity and respect and then completely disregard another the next. Stupid. It was flat out stupid.

Justice was one of his favourite words. And he particularly liked when others understood that fairness didn't mean everyone got the same thing, just what they needed and what was due to them. But alas, not everyone understood that, unfortunately.

'The only thing you can do is lead by example' as his father would say. Not that anyone saw Jarden as an example, no matter what his father seemed to think. Caring about not caring was a little odd, but very on brand for him.

Metamorphagus
[reducio]Change was inevitable. It was also inedible, but that is irrelevant. The point was, that change was always going to happen and it did so immeasurably for Jarden. It came to the point where nothing was ever going to be the same about him from day to day. Only night to night when he was asleep and his body was no longer randomly shifting.

He had always known that he was a Metamorphagus. Always had been, always is going to be. It was a fact of his life, and he didn’t get to decide whether he liked it or not because it was never going to change. Loving it wasn’t the problem, but controlling it was.

It came on at the randomest of times, surprising him and any nearby skinks. People, too, he supposed. He didn’t mind it, but he did mind the weird glances. Quite annoying, in his opinion. Most people didn’t though, and for that he was grateful. The one who really had been through it all was his twin sister, Lola. His whole family, really, but Lola in particular.

She had helped him really start to own it. Realizing that it was a gift, not something embarrassing. And it did help a little bit with hide and seek, so it wasn’t all bad. All things aside, he did really adore it, accepting it as a part of himself, like someone having bright red hair. Some stares were inevitable, but it was what made them so unique.

Did you really just compare me to a red head? I am so much better.

Anyway, he doesn’t understand why people stare. They wish they could turn their hair blue.

He felt most at home in his own skin when it looked like he wasn’t. He could be anyone. Anything he wanted. Well, not yet. He was learning to control it, slowly, but determinedly. It was bordering on control freak, but he preferred the term ‘A devout disciple of self discipline’. And even that was a stretch.

But all in all, his dramatic side flourished off of it. And on many occasions he has said, “Let’s just say I have a very... curated relationship with spontaneity.” about his ability, unable to even find something bad about how randomly his ability presented itself.

And now that he has somewhat more control over his ability he can spend his days obsessing over herbology and the emerald tree skinks he found in the forest. Now, he could do the things he loved without caring what others thought. He was the one he had to live with for the rest of his life, so he was going to like himself and not worry if others liked him.

"Again." Knees straining and buckling under her weight, Viktoriya hissed before slamming the mattress again, exhausted. "I said, again." Rolling eyes to the back of her head - though making sure her father didn't spot that movement - the silver haired rose again, as she had been doing for the past hours. Though every last limb and ligament of her body thoroughly protested against such violence, she adored and bathed in every second of it. Feeling, and knowing how each of her muscles bended and stretched, instinctively choosing the right ones to bend, avoid, dodge and roll. "Faster." Panting, she dove under his arm, sending a kick high onto his chest, retreating it before he could catch her feet and rolling on the hard mattress, facing him again. "Faster." Faster faster faster, be the wind roaming the frost-covered mountains, be the freezing river running free, be faster than the starving wolf hunting its prey, be faster than the raptor soaring high in the winter sky. Be. Faster.

She lived by that principle, every minute, every second of her days.

Faster, as she competed with her brother for the metal sparring blade, always beating him by a quarter of inch - Heart thundering, they break open the heavy ornate doors to her favourite room, running as fast as she can and hearing Dmitry's footsteps hammering the wooden floor right next to her. She grins, knowing he will simply be too slow, and she dives, wrapping her hand around the hilt of it before he even got the chance to enter the blades room.

Faster, as she fought him with two steps ahead, always knowing his next move, and avoiding it - always the same knowing smile plastered on her lips, the only time she could genuinely taunt him with his slothful moves and idiotic strategies. Ducking his blow, returning three times the force, avoiding the slash of his training storm and diving under his arm before making him stumble. He never touched her, never managed to.

Faster, as she flew under the crumbling chandelier of the manor's center dining room, heart still pounding as she figured out how seconds away from serious injuries she had been. Something had screamed at her to move move move, and as always her limbs had followed, ducking danger.

What she lacked in strength, she largely compensated by her speed and innate gift at evasion. Her mind knew and acted, her body followed. No one touched her, swords barely brushed her. She always seemed to know seconds before the disaster hit, was always standing in the right spot, moving even before the person facing her processed the information.

Faster.

Zophyr was good at hiding, always had been, because it made observing so much easier when those you were observing weren't aware they were being watched. It had always been something they were good at, and they had always been grateful for the information they had been able to glean thanks to it. Zophyr was known for being the quiet one in the corner, always listening, always paying attention.

But they were fourteen now, growing older, a teenager, and more and more they felt the need for attention. It was peculiar, honestly - they had always liked collecting and creating things, and their fashion sense was important to them, but never really to this point. They wanted to be seen, now, at least some of the time; looked up to, admired, noticed. They wanted the power to hide away from view when they felt like it, and become the center of attention when they felt like it. They wanted the power to manipulate people's attention relating to them entirely.

They weren't sure when it started. Perhaps it came from the feeling of a lack of control over their own life when their parents started pressuring them to become a cursebreaker. Perhaps it stemmed from their flirtatious nature. Perhaps it was a result of being nervous and feeling left out of situations they felt like they should be able to help in, like the dreaded Spring Ball of 2024. And maybe it was just because they were growing up, trying to take up their own space in the world. Nothing was certain - it was probably a mix of everything. But it meant Zophyr wanted, and they were willing to do things to get what they wanted.

They upped their style, for one. That was something they were confident they could do well. Every piece of clothing they owned was added to, and many new ones were designed. They stuck to their favorite palette of yellows, whites and purples, but found the perfect mixes and hues and saturations to stand out effortlessly.
Fashion wasn't everything, there was also charm and wit and presence. But that much was quite a bit easier. The problem wasn't Zophyr themselves, it was that they had always been quiet. When they opened their mouth, their inherent grace and mystery (and a small sense of recklessness) was evident to most. Their style just served to enhance it.

And it began to work. People began to look over when they spoke, whether they did so mysteriously (which was always fun, people saw them as much more resposible and grown-up than they usually felt) or mischievously and teasinly with their friends. Their flirting was taken a bit more seriously. To their complete and utter astonishment, people began to talk about them when they weren't around. They were known. One could even suggest that they were popular, as much as they did their best not to open themselves up too much. But it was too fun not to. People cared about what they thought. Pretty privilege seemed to be real.

It became almost addicting. Zophyr knew they ought to tone it down, go unnoticed from time to time, for the sake of keeping that second talent alive, but it was difficult sometimes to get away from the sentiment of being known. They had become as distracting as they had hoped.

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Prodigal Muggle Studies
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
Reducio
Zoya had been studying the information for months, been studying the differences and even forcing some Muggleborns that worked with her father to take her out into the Muggle world in an attempt to learn more. Late nights were spent reading over muggle books, from children's books to instruction guides, whatever the girl could find she would read over. One of the Muggleborn neighbors was the most help, helping her review and fixing any mistakes the girl made along the way.

One of Zoya's favorite ways of learning was by just going out into the Muggle world. It was not uncommon for her to be found sitting on a park bench reading a book, observing the Muggles around her without looking too suspicious. The girl may not have known much about Muggles, but she knew it would be suspicious if she was just sitting there staring at people. Walking the streets was a bit more terrifying. The first time she was around Muggle technology, she embarrassed herself in front of everyone, including the Muggleborn her father had asked to take her out into the Muggle world. She had since learnt to keep her emotions as neutral as possible, even if this new part of the world was so strange to her.

The Russian girl had been studying for months prior to attending Koldovstoretz, to the point she had been slacking on her other studies. She wanted to be caught up to the other students as much as possible though, there was no way she was going to look like an idiot in front of all of these new students in a class she had originally had almost no interest in. The girl's studying had gotten to the point of being to much though.

Zoya's had been better at learning the information about Muggle's than she thought, much faster than attempting to learn how to cast any spells. While her pronunciations were off, the girl could easily make her way through the Muggle world without looking like a complete buffoon. Sure, she did not know everything and would probably never know everything, but the girl knew enough that she could manage if she needed and that was what mattered. The studying had paid off greatly, she was caught up in what she had missed and was potentially ahead of what she needed to know, but she was prepared for what could potentially be ahead of her in the future.
Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Cat's Grace
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
Reducio
Zoya's parents were extremely protective of the young girl, afraid someone would take her away from them. Whether it was the Ministry or the Vampire that turned her in the first place, the girl was often kept confined to their manor for her own protection. She had learned from a young age to move around swiftly and quietly without getting caught. It took quite a bit of patience, but she learned over time which floorboards squeaked and which windows groaned as they were opened.

Sneaking around the manor and out of it was how Zoya met Anton Agapov. The young wizard lived in the manor next to their own and had spotted her in the large yard for years but had never had the confidence to ever talk to her. Zoya only took the excuse of having a friend to refine her skills even more, learning how to keep herself quiet when wandering the manor and even practicing getting in and out without getting caught. Obviously the girl was caught on occasion, no one was perfect at first and could move around without getting caught, but over the years she had gotten better and better at it. She could even be describe as cat-like sometimes.

The third window in the left hall was her normal escape route, having tested all of the windows over a few months time, she had figured out which ones made the least amount of noise and it was that one. She had done the same with the stairs, learning which ones she needed to skip over to keep them from squeaking as she snuck out to visit Anton. Zoya even knew which shoes she could wear to gracefully move around without getting caught. Her boots squeaked on the floor and heels clicked, so she either needed to walk on carpets or go barefoot when moving around in those shoes.

Some people would say it was strange that the girl had managed to learn that much about sneaking around the house at such a young age, but she had honestly made a game out of it. She enjoyed seeing how often she could get in and out of the house without getting caught, making improvements on her escapes every time she was caught by her parents or a maid. It was no wonder the skills had stayed with her, improving over the years to the point she could do it in quite a few environments with a little bit of observation. The skill could come in handy in the future.

Maurice's mother once told him that the day he was born, the entire room heaved a sigh of relief. He had always seemed to have that effect on people. The ability to make people feel at peace, feel calm. Take their worries and stuff them away into a little box for later. It was perhaps his reliability, the fact that if someone asked him a question, he would answer truthfully, even if the answer was one they didn't want to hear. His parents thought this was just because he was a toddler grasping social cues. It was not, in fact, just because he was a toddler.

As he got older, he became somewhat of a middle ground. When his sisters fought, as they so often did, at least one of them would seek him out and just sit with him for a bit. Sabine would always get loud and angry until she didn't have enough volume and feeling to give, and then she'd teach him a few new chords. Thea would usually cry until her eyes ran dry and then lay by his side. Coralie simply sat there with her silence until whatever inner war she fought was up. Usually, Maurice did not have to say anything. Just had to sit and listen.

It was a gift people would often use to their advantage. In school, he'd always be sat with the rowdy kids to calm them down. At practice, his coaches would have him give all the pep talks, as bad at them as he was. And at home, he was the safe haven, the indifference. It wasn't to say that he never fought with anyone, but they could rarely stay mad at him long. He just had that effect on people.

His bluntness tended to get him in trouble, but it had built a lasting effect that mattered much more than detention or time-out. He was trustworthy, if only for his words.

When he had begun attending Beauxbatons, he had found himself at a rough start. His words more often than not got him in unwanted situations, and cut a few ties before they could be properly strengthened. This was how it always began, before people realized the value of his honesty. And then he would resume his position as the middle-man. Dish out advice where he could, state his thoughts where he likely shouldn't, and continue on just as he had at home.

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Keeper's Catch
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
Reducio
Maurice had never been very good at baseball.

When he was young, he bounced between various positions and found little to no success in each of them. He couldn't throw, couldn't hit, and could hardly run the bases. But he could catch. Occasionally. That was the one consistent thing, though he wound up being a batter anyways. His coach said he had "keen eyes", whatever that meant. So he continued on in that role, until he was enrolled at Beauxbatons and forced to leave his home for the stuffy French school.

Quidditch had caught his eye, mostly because it was the only sport that seemed somewhat similar to baseball, if only because there was catching and chasing. Catching, chasing, and flying broomsticks. His eyes had immediately fallen on the position of beater, which seemed the most like what he was familiar with. But in recalling his past failures in that regard, he had leaned more towards something more observational. Keeper. It would feel good to do something most effective. So he had tried out, and thank his lucky stars, he made the cut.

That was when curiosity turned to obsession. He had that tendency. Turning little hobbies into his life's work. When he wasn't studying or strumming on the guitar, he was flying circles around the training pitch, enrolling his few teammates to throw practice balls his way, studying the rules of Quidditch and the many ways he could bend them to his will. By the time he was in his third year, he had grown quite a talent for the position of Keeper. Perhaps he was simply refining his previously unused abilities, or perhaps the magic of the school had incited a sort of newfound skill in the boy, but whatever it was, he loved it.

When he brought these new talents back to his sisters, they were fascinated by the idea of such an outrageous sport. He had taken them out to the small field behind their house and set up a makeshift field, complete with stick hoops and mismatched rocks for the balls. He taught his sisters a muggleized version of the sport, and together the three remaining Andrieux children spent hours on end running around like wild geese and replaying various drills Maurice could recall from his practices. Soon enough, he found ways to practice both during the school year and the summer, and worked to build his skills.

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Apparition
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
Reducio
Drew should have done this sooner than he did. Apparition was a fairly crucial part of being a wizard, and available once you completed your fifth year, and yet Drew had procrastinated learning until the summer before his seventh year. He knew that Rose was doing it around now as well, and really it was her that had convinced him to "lock in," as she had said.

Drew didn't like lecture classes. He had never been good at sitting still or listening to directions. He could cast spells pretty well, but he wasn't the most magical whiz out there, not like some of his classmates. He didn't always understand the technicality of every skill, or how everything worked. All in all, Drew had never been a perfect student, and his tutor, Miss Davis, had learned this quickly. Twice a week, she visited the manor and instructed him in all sorts of things relating to apparition. There were quizzes and practice sessions, and Drew had finally gotten a hang of the skill. Mostly.

It reminded him of his younger days. He had been to some school before Ilvermorny in order to learn basic stuff like math and reading, but a lot of his pre-school magical instruction had been done by tutors. Of course, he wasn't able to harness his magic, but they educated him about the Magical Congress of the United States of America, the ministry's American equivalent, and other stuff he didn't really remember. He supposed the most important thing that his pureblood family had done to step away from their former blood purist mindsets was to view all magical people equally. He always wished that tutoring had gone away with all the disdain and shunning, though, because he truly didn't care much about being a good student.

One thing he was good at, though, was performing under pressure.

Miss Davis and the representative from MACUSA stood together on one side of Bernthold Manor's ballroom. A magical circle floated on the other side of the room, marking where he was supposed to apparate.

"Think through your process," Miss Davis said, and Drew nodded at her, but they both knew full well Drew had no idea what she was talking about. He could think about all that she had taught him. The technicality, the specifics, the details. The foolproof method that she had quizzed him on over and over.

Or... he could trust his instincts.

It wasn't like this was luck or anything. He wasn't going into this blind. Drew had learned enough under Miss Davis' supervision dozens of times before to get it right. This wasn't quite engraved into his muscle memory, but he certainly could do this.

Crack.

Drew turned on his heel, and in a sickening motion, he appeared on the other side of the room. He was in the circle, and a quick inspection of his body told him that he hadn't left anything behind.
