Ana was an actual mess. More than one tear has escaped from her lashes, but she refused to allow herself to cry. She was going to do her bloody job. She had to. Her jaw tight, face red, and knuckles white from gripping her broom too tightly, she finished her penalty lap. While she may have felt like her sorry state was obvious to everyone around her and been embarrassed by this, the truth was in the chaos of the game, it was nearly impossibly for anyone to notice much about any single player.

Swallowing hard, she glanced about the pitch to determine the state of the game and where she might be needed. While she might be struggling under all of the pressure she had placed on herself, she refused to let her team down.

Long story short, I survived

Juniper stretched her legs out before her, figuring out that today was not going to be the day she played. She was simply the bench warmer for this match, but at least she was doing that well. Instead of screaming her lungs off for the round before her, she leaned forward and pursed her lips. Taking in the strategies. Doing this was essential to her future playing, she thought because she could pick up skills on the way. The team was full of adept players who clearly knew what they were doing, she observed.

The way they took a bludger for each other, and trusted each other fully. A smile hinted on her face, and she began to cheer. Finally, she started to cheer. She turned to the crowd and encouraged them to cheer as well as she pumped her fist for Ravenclaw and waved at a few of her friends. "LET'S GO RAVENCLAWWWW!!!" She called out, then waved to the crowd of Ravenclaws to do so as well.

Lavinia had never felt like she had deserved a penalty lap as much as she did right now. She was so used to doing penalty laps that cheating didn’t bother her at all. Except for this one blatch. Lavinia didn’t realize going into it how much of a difference it would make to blatch one of her closest friends, but now she did. It wasn’t fun at all to watch Haley fall from her broom, especially when Lavinia knew that it was completely her fault. Luckily Haley was caught but Lavinia really regretted her actions. If it counted for anything, Lavinia felt like she should have done at least 2 penalty laps to make up for the pain that she caused Haley.

Alright Alright, time to move away from this identity crisis River was spontaniously experiencing and trying to focus back on her specific purpose. Catching the snitch. She knew where it was, you’d think her distraction with the quaffle would have made her lose its location. But no, she had her eyes on it again. But actually getting to it wouød be a more complicated task.

River glanced around for her teammates. Her eyes landing on Sylvain, just the guy she was looking for. She gave him a subtle que before preparing for the maneuver she dreaded every game. There was just something about being spun that made her feel icky. River sucked it up and flew towards her teammate, dodging some incoming bludger and completing the strategy without falling off her broom. sure enough the maneuver wasn’t terrible, the only thing missing was the snitch, which whizzed past her just out of reach. The chase was still on.

Emma was on the edge of her seat, gripping the bench as she watched the tip of her nailbeds turn a ghostly peach, just a few shades lighter than her natural tone. One move could end it all and they'd remain undefeated. The scales were definitely tilting in their favor, but maybe that was just their adept players showing off their skills for the audience which included her this time.

Inattentive of her actions, the corners of her lips perked up as she watched the Gryffindor chaser miss their blatch on River. To no surprise, the quaffle was left unattended. Though the seeker hadn't made it obvious, Gryffindor was clearly aware she had located the snitch. The game was closing up, but the beater knew now to judge the game so quickly.

Akari was beginning to think that blatching was really not her forte. Every time she would near her target, somehow, at the last second, they would see her coming and quickly dodge her attack. Luck was certainly eluding her as of late.
And not to mention that it was most definitely getting frustrating to have to go on all these penalty laps with nothing to show for them.

Groaning under her breath after hearing her name called out, Akari had no choice but to begin making her way around the pitch, yet again.

Now things were really starting to get very intenser than she thought it would be, and unfortunately, it was them, the Gryffindor team being in the tight situation right now. She later noticed that one of the Ravenclaw Beaters attempted to attack their seeker, Evelynn who was still trying her best to find the golden Snitch. "Oh hell no! You don't!!", Griseldis flew towards them as fast as she could in order to defend Evelynn before it was too late.

"Urgh!", Griseldis groaned in pain after getting hit by the Bludger, but luckily, she was strong enough to hold onto her Silver Arrow. As long as their seeker could be safe, no matter how many hits she might get if she decided to defend again, it would be worth it.

Anyone who knew Aly Salinger could very easily tell you that she was not the offensive type, in a variety of different ways. She couldn't stand hurting another person, and, well, that was exactly what Beatering and bludgering and blatching (and all these other words that started with b - what was it with the letter b and injuries?) were all about. That was why she had signed up to be a Keeper in the first place, after all. Defence was much more her style.

So to have a Beater on the back of her broom, bashing bats at Bludgers to boomerang them off to who knows where, was certainly a new experience. But... well, Aly was also a team player, and she wasn't going to do anything that could harm the good of her team.

Their broom shook slightly as Gabriella on the back swung her bat, banging a Bludger away from them and likely towards someone else; Aly wasn't paying attention to whom, having squeezed her eyes tightly shut for a moment as the loud crack! of the Bludger-and-bat combination nearly made her jump right out of her skin with a huge flinch. Forcing herself to reopen her gaze, Aly tried a weak grin, though of course, Gabriella definitely couldn't see it from her angle. And after that Bludger-to-the-ribs business, there was no way she was turning around again.

"You just... er... keep doing what you're doing, Gabby," the curly-haired Keeper called back to her teammate. "And, uh, try not to kill any of them, will you? I'd feel just awful if we became the first ever recorded case of causing a death during a Hogwarts Quidditch match..."

The girl watched rather sharply, concern growing on her features for her friend whom Elena was sure was about to be victim to a extremely nasty fall but thankfully, their Captain already harboring their stricken Seeker swooped in to save Haley from what could have been more than just a minor visit to the hospital wing. Those Beaters were really laying down the law and making it count with each hit but Gryffindor responded in turn not showing any chance of backing down despite whatever Ravenclaw threw their way.

As it turned out, this mostly worked in their favor as most of the Chasers were preoccupied either dodging Bludgers or quite simple being hurled off their brooms though thankfully it was none of Gryffindor's that were out of commission and she hoped it stayed that way. The game was picking up now as the two houses bared their fangs and went head to head each prying for the top spot as Elena watched from down below, her expression a mixture of concern for her team and interest to see what the outcome would be.

Her appeal to the captain had gone unanswered. Her stomach dropped, and not because of any shift in altitude. What else should she have expected. The cynic within her had already laden her with heavy warnings not to rely on him for help, but the pounding of her head had suggested otherwise, keen to take a backseat—literally in this case—for a moment. To allow herself a moment of reprieve. Useless waste of space. But was that directed at him? Or herself? Succumbing to her own mental scolding for allowing herself to foolishly lift the veil of vulnerability, even she couldn't quite be certain.

Her name filtered through the wind from in front. Anyone else might have recognized the urgency of the tone, the way it was almost an apologetic plea requesting for more time. Preoccupied as she was, however, all the co-captain heard was his silencing of her. Again. "Well excuse me—" she snapped, the pain of her throbbing side and pounding head expelling itself through her words. Steely eyes bore through the back of the impossibly large skull in front of her as the momentum of her ire carried her complaints forward without restraint, "—for believing there might have been even a chance, however unlikely it might have been, that you actually had a plan!"

Perhaps she really ought to have curbed that flare-up, however. Silence in the heat of a moment was rarely a good sign, especially in the case of the historically explosive captain. She could handle his typical jeers. She could cast aside his taunts. What she wasn't prepared in that moment to deal with was the uncertain outcome of his quiet machinations. But when all he did was express a need to be rid of them, she clicked her tongue. Running. Like an outcast lion tucking tail at the sight of defiant lionesses. For all his bluster and brawn, this is what they had to show of their brave and valiant leader.

Whatever cutting remark she might have launched his way was ripped from her lips before it even had the chance to cross them the moment the nose of the collective broom took a steep downward turn. Then it was all she could do just to hold on for dear life, the knuckles beneath her weather-worn leathers no doubt polished ivory white with the effort. There was the very real chance they might not have made it to their destination, either. The hell-bent dive had left them entirely open to assault, a fact that the Ravenclaw were more than willing to exploit. Fortunately for them, Edelhardt was ready to intervene. One bludger found itself drawn away from the trio, lured by the bold beater. A second was not quite so tempted, but Griseldis was willing to take the hit regardless, sparing them the brunt of the blow. Evelynn would have to thank her later.

By the time they'd reached the destination, a glint of silver had captured her attention. It might not have been the gold of the snitch, but the gleam of her own broom was the next best thing. Lips curling in a silent sneer to chase both pain and captain away, she practically launched herself from the broom in her haste to regain her independence. "Alright, Rose," she shot to her counterpart who had shared the same harrowing descent as they departed from their discarded chariot. "Let us clip their wings."
