Determination Quidditch Gryffindor v Hufflepuff

As Evelynn and Ana rammed into Quinn and Atlas, Ami's jaw dropped open in shock. Ana, she could see cheating. Honestly, Beckett probably should've been sorted into Slytherin with how downright ruthless she could be sometimes. But... Decipio? Ami had always seen the Gryffindor captain as, well... the epitome of what a Gryffindor represented. Gryffindor had never been know for playing the cleanest of games, but she had never seen Evelynn ever partake in a foul herself. Her shock quickly turned into anger, however, as she realized that Quinn would soon be hitting the ground. Two games in a row? Ami's grip around the handle of her Nimbus tightened, and she gently placed a hand on Annie's shoulder. "Make sure Quinn's okay," she pleaded, adding, "Take Buttons or Campbelle with you if you have to."

Quickly mounting her broom, Ami took off into the air to join the rest of her team, her eyes lingering on Quinn's body on the ground below her. "Really, Evelynn?" she muttered to herself, her gaze flickering to the seeker and chaser taking their penalty lap together. "That's how you wanna play? Fine." Her eyes flickered around at each of the players on the field, assessing where they were and what she should do next. Her heart was thudding as some small part of her brain told her not to take it personally, it was just a game, after all...

But hey, she wasn't exactly known to be logical. Her heart ruled her head, and right now, all Ami was seeing was red. There was very little else to be said, and she was ready to put the Gryffindor team to bed. "C'MON, GRYFFINDOR, ARE YOU READY TO TANGO?" Ami grinned wickedly as she readied her bat. "LET'S GO, HUFFLEPUFF!"

Perhaps in spite of his penalty lap, @Howard White's passion to get back into the game would launch him into action alongside @Aaron Jones and @Rafael D'Spacito. Although the three would tango for their quaffles, Aaron doing his best to keep upright and Rafael giving the pair a good scowl, Howard's determination to win and not his daunting vibes would see the three prized sport's balls within his grasp.

Keepers

Weaving through the maelstrom, Howard would sight the goal and toss the quaffle through uncontested hoops thrice in a row. Where was opposing Keeper, he might think. Eyes on the prize, both watching and waiting, @Piérre Marchonné had seemingly left his post at his captain's call. He would once again leave the goals undefended as Gryffindor's priorities shifted more towards an aggressive style of play. Sure, Howard would score, but at what cost?

Beaters

Seemingly encouraged by the violent storm around her, @Lindsey Springhall would find no shortage of thrills as a bludger screamed towards the Huffle beater's position. As it rose to meet the orb of wrecking the angle of her club directed the hunk of metal towards D'Spacito. Whether the weather was to blame or his grim focus had left him oblivious to outside dangers, the bludger would strike him in the ribs knocking the wind from his lungs. Gryffindor's captain would have his opportunity to curse silently in the rain as the last bit of thunder rumbled overhead. He would still have to keep it PG-13 of course.

Next to strike a bludger would be @Ami Procoppio. Second of the Hufflepuff captains to play in today's game, Ami's fury was channeled into her club as she smote the one responsible for knocking her co-captain to the muddy pitch below. An apology had seemingly not let him off the hook. Turning her back to Piérre, something she would come to regret mere moments later, the second string beater would slam a bludger into the Gryffindor keeper with enough force to send him sailing over the front of his broom like one does when using a bicycle's front brakes going downhill. His trajectory, ended with her.

Either the sight of Alan's arms ready to receive the airborne and broomless Piérre had kept him true, or the lad had found some measure of calm within the storm and just barely managed to let go of his broom in the nick of time. Marchonné's collision course with Procoppio remained spot-on regardless. This faultless flight pattern of his had caused the two to become entangled for just long enough to knock the second Hufflepuff captain down in a single game, but found them separated with enough time for @Alan Vanes to clasp his collar. It was this moment of preparation that aided him in just barely managing to foist him up. The two would share his broom, but whether the penalty lap was to be shared was anyone's guess.

Her unstoppable onslaught so far undeterred, @Scarlett Aden's confidence seemingly grew with each gust of wind and cheer from the stands. Another round of quidditch, another trick shot. This time, no looking. The bludger would bounce as it bashed poor Aaron with precision. With no net below, his vision might darken as he fell. His imagination of the succeeding event likely similar to reality. Once his parents received notice of his visit to the Hospital Wing of course. Ricocheting with a clap, Lindsey would see the trick coming from a mile away, well maybe a few meters anyhow, and maneuver herself to safety before it caused her any trouble.

Most likely back to back with Scarlett at this point, @Griseldis Edelhardt would fixate on her next target, biding her moment to strike. Rain, thunder and a blustering gale would not ruin her focus as she battered the beaten bludger into both Atlas and Serena. What a badass! Serena would lose grip, and Atlas would go tumbling with her. The pair were swiftly scooped from their broom as Serena caught a blow to the stomach forcing both to fall off backwards, hurdling to the muck and growing pile of Hufflepuffs below.

"What in the HELL?!" Annie stood up from the bench as the rain pelted down on and around her. Aaron, Serena, Atlas and Ami had been struck down from the sky. It seemed they were having a rematch similar to what happened when they competed against Durmstrang. Gryffindor was relentless. Poor Serena had taking bad beatings multiple times, Aaron as well. Ami had been on the bench what only felt like a few seconds ago and here she is sprawled out on the ground. And Atlas. Annie clenched her fists, her knuckles going white. She didn't know she was going to actually participate today. Heck, she was more of a danger to herself than the other team was in the air on a broom.

The brunette took a breath. She wouldn't be anything but an extra body, another target to be battered and bruised. Their only hope was Ethen now, which with the way things were headed, he might be the next one off the broom on their team. Her hand curled around the broom handle and she pulled herself to the field, taking the googles from her forehead and fastening them to her face. "Game on, I'm not afraid of no lion cubs. Hah if I was a beater you'd be done for." Annie grinned, a familiar competitive feeling coursing through her.

The only problem was there were no walls or any ways to tell where she was or what was happening. Oh boy, here we go.

The next few moments were a blur. Piérre saw a lot going on and also saw himself int he midst of it. But he had also been given an ordered command, and far be it from the boy to not do something for the benefit of the team, even if it was unfortunate.

Apparently, his target had also seen him coming as well, as the boy was rammed in the chest by an iron ball he had been too close to to avoid. Noting his imminent doom, however, the kid had preemptively let go of his trusty broom, allowing the momentum of the iron bludger to cause him to flip head over heels twice while maintaining forward momentum. This was, by any outside observer’s perspective; EXTREMELY lucky.

In a split second, he had collided with the girl who had knocked him senseless, having hugged the girl tighter than a boa as the remains of his momentum knocked her from her seat along with him. His air was knocked out of him and for a moment, the boy was in free fall, clinging tightly to the girl in adrenaline-filled fear as she appeared to be his only lifeguard. The back of his throat opened as a scream was drowned in his mouth, the world turning too quickly and the ground coming too close for him to comprehend.

“ImsosorryImsosorryImsosorry!!!” Was all he could manage, his voice lost in the wind as he clutched her tighter. His throat was getting dry and the rainwater on his cheeks was doing a surprisingly good job of concealing the tears which were lost in his Keeper’s armor. “Captain’s orders, captain’s orders!” He was devolving into incoherent gibberish, the child regressing into remnants of a shaken core.

A sudden jerk, however, caused the boy’s arms to loose from his aerial life preserver, she slipping from his rain-wet grip to tumble the rest of the way to the ground. Looking up, Piérre grasped at his collar to find that Alan, his favorite Gryffindor prefect had managed to snag him right before he had met an untimely end.

Readjusting his seating as he got comfortably on Alan’s broom, Piérre, shaken and damp, wiped his eyes quickly and then hugged to Alan, looking for some warmth and comfort. “Okay friend. Let’s do this.” He whispered quietly.

Nobody said that winning came without cost. All there was left was to keep moving.

But hey.

Alanérre was back in business.

Leaning forward, Ana sped about her penalty lap, eager to get back in the game. The rain was freaking Ana out more than a little if she was being honest. She wasn't overly fond of rain, but every clap thunder was making her stomach flip.

She felt the Seeker behind her slumping slightly and shot her a glance. "Everything well back there?" she inquired. Ana was the one that had actually made any sort of contact with the two they had dismounted since she was in front, but that didn't mean that the Seeker was completely protected from the force of the impact.

Since Quinn was on the ground, Ami was apparently joining the game, as evidenced by the shouts from a yellowish blob. "Obviously, we're ready, Ami," Ana muttered as she rounded a turn and neared the end of her lap. "I would have thought that evident by the fact we're in the air and the game is underway."

Quaffle scores didn't seem to be going well for Gryffindor that round, but plenty else did. Ana couldn't make out exactly who was doing what beyond colorful blobs, but the red blobs seemed to be doing well and the yellow blobs were raining as surely as the downpour that was drenching everyone. A red blob (Pierre) went flying off their broom, took out a yellow blob, and was then caught by another red blob. Ana's eyes widened and her determination to finish this stupid lap seemed to double. This was an insane game and she needed to participate. Another yellow blob was dismounted and then a pair sharing a broom now had no more broom. That had to hurt.

"And now?" Ana called to the co-captain behind her. If it were just her on her broom, she wouldn't be hesitating, but seeing as Evelynn was the Seeker, Ana's priorities had to adjust somewhat.

Long story short, I survived

Haley found it more and more difficult to follow the whole game. Her hair was soaked by now and she was a little glad she didn't have to fly up there in this rain. Her eyes fell on the unprotected gryffindor rings and her fears were confirmed. Hufflepuff had managed to score three more goals again.

And as if things couldn't have gotten any worse, one of the Bludgers hit the Gryffindor captain right in the ribs. Her face contorted at the sight, she didn't even want to imagine the pain. But the whole game was getting even wilder, it almost seemed like there was pure aggression on the field and everywhere someone was getting hit or falling off their broom. Haley found it hard to keep track of everything and tried to shield her face from the rain with her hand.

But every now and then Haley would start cheering again, Griseldis had hit a shot that, at least as far as she could tell through the rain, hit very well. "LIOONS!" shouted Haley to cheer on her team, but her shouts barely made it through the storm that was over the Quidditch field.

A few minutes passed and the weather began to ease. She crossed her fingers and hoped that the sun's rays were a good sign for the Gryffindors.

Fresh off a penalty lap Howard would come back into the action with full force and sheer determination to score as the next round began. He was so caught up in the moment that he even ripped the Quaffle out of his own teammates hands! He would have to apologize to Aaron later, but there was no time to waste as he capitalized on the unguarded goal posts. One after the other Howard would sink three goals in a row as he put up 30 points for team Hufflepuff. The success sent a wave of adrenaline tingling down his spine, but as he turned to see how the rest of his team faired that rush of excitement would turn to despair. One after another his teammates would plummet from their brooms. Not one, not two, not three, but four Huffles would be knocked out of the game in one round! A torrent of curse words would pour from his mouth as he resisted the urge to pick up a Beater's bat and decimate the Lions one by one, but he had to stay focused. As the only remaining Chaser left her would have to give it his all before he too met his fate.

INTERACTING WITH @Anastasia Beckett | MENTIONING @Quinn Healy
There was no denying Beckett's tenacity as she fully invested into a speedy lap around the pitch. Any faster and Evelynn might have felt as though they were racing through an onslaught of hail for the force with which each drop of rain connected. With her saviour seated afore, Evelynn was spared the worst of it. Even still, her uniform drenched, the weight taking hold and threatening to drag her off the tail. She had to hunker down. There was no grace in their flight; only the image of an uncomfortable seeker surviving the shame of a sacrificial lap.

"Everything is..."

Everything was what? Fine? The pit where her stomach had been suggested otherwise. Had she really gotten so caught up in the moment that she'd lost sight of honour in favour of a cup? She hadn't even really tried to catch the snitch. Well.. that wasn't strictly true. She had tried. Only, the badgers had come roaring for her blood fresh out of the gate and thrown her off her game. And as soon as the heaven's had split, pouring its sorrow upon them all, she'd hardly been able to see five feet in front of her, let alone hunt down the elusive snitch. Even the distant forms of blurred yellow falling to meet the ground hardly offered any reassurance.

On the contrary, it only cemented the grip of guilt. In many ways, this was looking like their match against Ravenclaw. Their aggressive strategy might be proving effective, but it hardly seemed sporting. Especially from here, so distant from it all. Had they descended into the madness of the beast? Where was the elegance of their pride veiled by their rabid assault. But she couldn't very well share these notions. Not right now when the game was still afoot. And at this point... when they were already neck deep... wouldn't it appear even worse to backtrack now? They hungered for the recognition of victory. This was its manifestation. Jaw set and brows pinched to shadow a renewed look of determination, Evelynn peered up and forward through the gale.

"Everything is well," she assured her companion. "Look. We are regaining our footing, but—" A quick glance towards the scoreboard had revealed that their opponents had taken the lead. "—Hufflepuff seems to think they can get the better of us. We need to close that gap." Another clap of lightning set everything into black and white for a split second. "Preferably sooner than later."

The rain had become heavier while Stanley felt as if he was wet to the bone.

Just as everything seemed to be looking up, it just all went back down hill again. Stanley placed his hand on his shaking knee and squeezed it as he watched another four of his teammates fall from the ground. He chocked back a small sob and quickly focused his eyes back onto the remaining people on the pitch. Three goals. Three goals they had scored making Hufflepuff in the lead only by twenty points. The boy cheered in celebration however went straight back to calming himself when another strike of lightning hit. Stan's breath was wobbly and his whole body was shaking and shivering with anticipation. He wasn't even sure if the worst had passed yet or not. All he could do was hope that nothing to dramatic would happen to their remaining teammates.

The game quickly was quickly devolving into a battle and no one seemed to be safe from the ruthless bludgers. It gave little Ethen flashbacks to the imaginary war he fought in. His comrades seemed to be taking the brunt of the assault and while Ethen was grateful that he had not again been cracked by the other team, he knew that he had to keep his wits about him. The competitive nature of all of the players seemed high and he had no doubt he would need to stay nimble in the air to avoid an attack.

But more than that, Ethen was still racing against time. The longer it took him to find the snitch, the longer his team would be vulnerable to vicious attacks. His focus was unwavering. He knew people were counting on him and we wasn't about to let them down. As his eyes scanned the pitch, he kept his hands flexed on the broom. He felt tense with adrenaline still pumping through him as he searched. But there it was. He almost missed it but out of the corner of his eye he could see that little flicker of unnatural gold.

Cracking his head around to the glint, he was able to lock eyes on the small snitch and made sure it didn't flash out of his gaze. It was devilishly quick as ever but a small smile crested Ethen's lips. His first step was complete. Not that actually catching it would be easy but having it in his sights brought a level of excitement to Ethen. He could feel his heart pounding from anticipation and adrenaline as he considered his next move.
