Chess Combat, Game 3

Oliver watched as both Cecily and Alexx prepared to dodge as he did a slow run diagonally forward. He had guessed right they wouldn't spend another turn trying to take them head on again. Sweating profusely, this was the first time the boy had properly moved all game. His cardboard armour was immediately drenched in sweat and was far from stiff board. It was doing well though, Oliver had taken zero damage so far, thanks to the armour surely.
"Ye-yeah! I'm good, don't worry about me!" Oliver called back to Dymphna as he caught his breath. He was feeling pretty safe compared to Dymphna who was in enemy lines. He was flinching every time an opponent even looked at her. But by rules, he couldn't defend her. Was a game worth more than the safety of Dymphna though?

Alexx felt partially bad for not contributing much. She was realizing, as time went on, that she really had no idea what to do next or where to go. She had very little skill in this area and it was strongly apparent. While Alexx came in with the mentality that she didn't want that to show, she supposed it was probably more and more obvious to the other team. She was definitely a week spot on the team and everyone could probably see it. Nothing she did was effective and she was severely uncomfortable. Right now, she really just wanted to be back in her tent.
She had also yet to speak, while her teammates appeared to be communicating well, Alexx stayed silent, having nothing to offer. Rarely was the girl tongue tied, but currently, she found herself with a lump in the back of her throat. Afraid if she said anything she would scream, or worse, cry. Her emotions would surely get the better of her, and that wasn't professional at the time. Later, she decided. Reid could listen to her whine about this. But for now, she would stay silent, hoping for this match to end sooner than later.

They had been doing well. Maybe too well for a second, Alias thought, that's why they hadn't paid enough attention to protect Mondelez, their goddamn Queen. She tried to move to back her classmate up when she saw the attack coming, but instead had to take a step back when he was thrown on his ass right on the tile she had wanted to step onto.
"Don't get careless now!" she shouted at her teammates, in English this time she had realized that they had been talking in Russian the whole time.

Cecily was perhaps a little too anxious to avoid shots being fired-- she was getting tired, and in lieu of sending a shot at the Durmstrang boy, she engaged in evasive maneuvers, only to realise that there was nothing coming her way. Both of the boys who had previously been targeting her had instead chosen to move forward, closing in on the Black Team.
Cecily blushed as she slightly ungracefully recovered from her unnecessary evasions before she heard a voice call out from her left in a thick, foreign accent. It was their Queen, calling out to the team to get their shit together. She rolled her eyes, frustrated. Right, like he wasn't the one sitting on his ass as Cecily was busy evading two attackers. God, she was so ready to be done with this and flop on her bed and never even look at her wand again.

No one stopped Adam from moving into another square on the giant board. They were all too busy with their own relocations, apparently. The two queens were engaged in a brief duel as the rest of the players shuffled from square to square, bringing some relative calm to the playing area. It wouldn't last, but it was a nice (and not unwelcome) pause in the action.
No one stopped Adam from moving, but that wasn't a big surprise: no one was paying Adam much attention at all. He'd walked around, fired off a spell, even made an effort to dodge once, but it turned out that he wasn't an important target. On one hand, that was a good thing. He hadn't been hit yet and he was still at full strength. On the other hand, the rest of his teammates were taking the brunt of the attacks. He wished that he could wave his arms around and yell "Hey! Look at me! I'm one hundred percent hexable!" The other team's attention would be drawn to him, the tall blonde target, and he would gladly take a beating while his friends recovered. That would make him feel like he was helping, at least. Adam knew that the other team was too smart to fall for that ploy, though. It was a stupid idea.
No one stopped Adam from moving, so he took a breath and took advantage of his new position. There was no way that he was letting himself leave this chessboard feeling useless.

Round Six10th of July 2020, around 02:00pm
The trend to move positions on the adapted chess board instead of casting spells seemed to be continuing. Nevertheless, some spells were cast. Mr. Harringtom apparently could not decide who to heal, attempting to heal both Miss Quinn and Mr. Forsberg, messing up his wand-movement in the progress to the detriment of his casting success. Miss Quinn and Miss Campbell threw Knockback Jinxes at Mr. Mondelez and Miss Sokolova respectively, but while they both, their spells had less of an oomph than the Queens' previous casts and no one was knocked down. Both Queens got back up unimpeded, though Mr. Mondelez did get hit. Miss Teague had gone for a Levitation Charm and as a result, Miss Campbell was now floating mid-air, about a metre off the ground. The rest of the contestants, Miss Séverin, Mister Hart, Mister Preobrazhensky and Miss Sokolova, all moved to another square.Chess Arena

rping as iNPC Maksim Preobrazhensky [x] primarily interacting with Team White, specifically the Queen himself, Kheanu Mondelez (@Dmitri Jones). If dialogue is in italics, Maksim is speaking in Russian.Maksim's expression fell as Kheanu berated him, his light-hearted mood immediately falling. What was it about his blond classmate that kept his gaze glued upon his beautiful frame? Maybe it was just his aura in general that made him seem so attractive. And surely, he wasn't the only person who noticed him? Something about being in the same vicinity as Mondelez made all of Maksim's working brain cells shut off, and for whatever reason, all he wanted to do was please the boy, to see him smile. But apparently, the exact opposite had happened, and he now felt like a steaming pile of garbage.
And it wasn't like Maksim was attracted to him... right?
Right?
But then, of course, Kheanu winked at him, and Max all but melted right then and there. Clearing his throat uncomfortably and turning his gaze back towards the battlefield, he muttered under his breath and to himself, "Can't believe he still refuses to learn Russian."
His head whipped back towards Kheanu, however, as he watch another knockback jinx hit the boy. "Kheanu!" he exclaimed, shaking his head in disbelief. "Move your lazy bottom! Does he expect to keep getting hit without consequence?" he added aloud, mostly talking to himself. During the whole game, Maksim had been leaping left and right, trying to avoid any and all incoming attacks. And yet, it seemed that Kheanu simply refused to move for anyone else, no matter how much damage he had to endure.

As Oliver continued to sprint along at his maximum speed, one that matched a brisk walk for most, he looked to his left, watching students from his year on the opposite team casting spells and moving tiles. As he gracefully stomped his way to the next tile, the wind whipping dozens of droplets of sweat off his face, for the first time in his life, Oliver felt included. Even if he was attempting to wallop Cecily with his strongest spell repeatedly, to be one on the field with everyone else, Oliver couldn't help but have a little smile on his face.
As the Ravenclaw sprinted, the cardboard helmet sitting flimsily on his head became too soaked in sweat and lost all shape completely. Causing a hazard of falling in front of his eyes, Oliver decided to pull off the sponge-like paper and frisbee it into the distance. Soon after, he could hear from the crowds a screech of a female student as a litre of Oliver's forehead water slapped her in the face.

Interacting with @Ami Procoppio as Maksim Preobrazhensky and the rest of Team White, mentions @Oliver Hart
Kheanu just finished brushing off his designer pants when another Flipendo glanced off of his arm. Rolling his eyes, the Durmstrang student stretched his neck left and right, a calm smile forming on his face. Let the blows keep coming, he thought to himself as he spread his legs wider into a better defensive stance reminiscent of the one he uses when a fencing game was getting close to victory.
His stature was a position that spoke of cautious confidence.
It seemed their opponents were starting to copy their attack patterns—to no avail. There simply was no other team like the original. All the opposing team's attacks, though frequent, weren't doing the damage they surely hope it would. Though all the constant hits Kheanu has received exhausted him to no end, compared to their opponent's queen, he was doing quite swimmingly.
"Don't coddle me, Preobrazhensky. I am not a damigella in pericolo, a damsel in distress." A brilliant smile would then be aimed at the other boy. "In fact, you can think of me as a knight in... shining armor." At this, he would glance at Oliver's sweaty figure in the makeshift protective equipment, resisting the urge to grimace.
Refusing to be distracted, he aimed his wand once more at their opponents.

The players continued to shuffle their positions on the board as the game progressed. Though Cecily couldn't see it before, she now recognized the white team's strategy-- they had all but cornered her team's queen, leaving little to no room for him to maneuver away from the threat they posed. And although Cecily's spell collided with their queen, drawing a smirk from the blonde, he still looked as strong as ever. Plus, Amadea was now...floating? Cecily cursed under her breath. Everything was just peachy.
