His father always loved studying potions and poisons. He loved brewing them and learning how to create them to be more effective. He had a whole room for it, kept his potions safe.

When Elwyn was born, he tried to keep him away from that room. But…he was a curious boy, always exploring. He noticed that his father always went into a dark but colorful room with dimmed lights twice a week and stayed there for two whole hours. He was nosy, wanted to find out what was in there. He waited for his father to make a mistake.

Finally, when he was five years old, he was waiting for his father to exit the room. Unfortunately, he left it open, not casting the locking charm, colloportus, on the door. Little Elwyn, quite stupid went into the room without asking for permission. He was mesmerized. It looked like the room of a witch his mother was reading him about. He walked around, looking at the various books he could not read yet, the cauldron in the middle of the room, the potions on the shelves…It was so pretty he wanted to stay there.

He spotted a jar with colorful, shiny glitter. It was just within reach. He stretched out his arm, grabbing the bottle. He opened it and looked into it. It looked like purple candy and he wanted to taste it. He took a sip, savoring it. He was disappointed, it didn't taste like anything.

Before his body could react to the poison — which was Weedosoros, but he didn't know that— his father stepped into the room, realizing he forgot to lock it, and saw Elwyn with the glass bottle in his hand. He didn't have time to react much, immediately grabbing a bezoar and making him swallow it. Elwyn was confused, his father seemed panicked but he didn't know why. His father, seeing he didn’t understand, promised he'll explain after he made sure he was alright. He ushered him to bed and made him lay down, after that, he told him what he swallowed and why he was worried.

Ever since that, Elwyn understood why he wasn't allowed there and why it was dangerous to sneak around without permission. His father, having learned his lesson, always told him what he was doing and never kept these things a secret.

Elwyn started getting more interested in potions and what his father was doing in his free time. He asked him if he could watch him brew them and listen to him talking about it. His dad, knowing if he said no Elwyn would just try to do it on his own, said yes.

They began learning together, his father coaching him and answering all his questions. When he turned 8, his dad told him they could start testing them, carefully, bit by bit. He was beyond excited. They started with safer plants..poison ivy and Bubotuber. Then more dangerous ones, like Venomous Tentacula.

By the time his letter arrived, he was able to congest several plants with little reaction to it. Of course, he needs to be cautious as he's not fully immune. He's very excited to start studying Herbology and Potions and tell his father about everything he learned there.
STATUS: Pending, Lesmana, 17 March
Reason for Pending:
  1. The colour of Weedosoros colour from Wiki is deep purple.
  2. Please note that this ability doesn't allow full immunity to poisonous materials. It would make more sense to show your character still experiencing the effects of a toxic substances. It can be in a milder or more manageable way.

the muggle condition w/c: 455
Reducio
Living as a child of two worlds means she never lost her muggle sensibilities. While many witches and wizards rely entirely on their wands, Denisse spent her childhood learning the mechanics of the physical world, such as how to tie a slipknot, how to use a telephone or play a VCR, and how to throw a proper punch. Hard work in the muggle world gave her a different kind of strength, one that doesn't require an incantation. This exemplifies her character as a "pragmatic survivor." She is the one who uses a mundane Swiss Army knife to jam a lock. Aside from that, she certainly misses using her cellphone or playing her Xbox. She hates to sacrifice the brilliance of Muggle technology once she has to live in Hogwarts for the entire school year for seven years and only uses technology during the summer. She hates to stay behind for a long time on her favorite YouTube channels and content creators.
There would be no Wi-Fi, texting (which is faster than sending messages through owls), or social media. No TV shows, streaming, or films to watch in the evenings. No easy way to listen to the latest pop hits. The only entertainment available is her textbooks, the giant squid, and Quidditch.
Aside from the favored development of Muggles, Denisse would also miss takeout food such as pizza and fast-food chains. Additionally, there's no way she can celebrate holidays like Halloween the Muggle way (trick-or-treating and dress-up).
If it weren't for living in the Muggle world, she wouldn't learn how to skate and swim. Everyday hobbies and sports, such as football or dance, are suddenly out of reach. Even small conveniences, like hot showers, electric lights, and public transportation, are noticeably absent.
Denisse also misses the sense of belonging she felt in her old community, where everyone understood each other's backgrounds and experiences. At Hogwarts, she sometimes feels out of place or isolated, especially when magical-born students talk about things like Quidditch, wizarding sweets, or magical history she's never heard of before. She misses the diversity and openness of the Muggle world, as the wizarding community can sometimes seem old-fashioned or even prejudiced toward non-magic folk.
Denisse longs for the freedom and variety of entertainment options she had before such as going to the cinema, shopping at malls, or attending concerts. The strict rules and routines at Hogwarts, as well as limited opportunities to leave the castle, can make her feel a bit confined. She misses learning about the mechanics of science and current events from the Muggle perspective.
While the magical world is full of wonders, these things from her Muggle life make her feel homesick and nostalgic, especially in her first year at Hogwarts.

As a young, no care in the world girl Elowin had loved magic and always looked forwards to those lovely, magnificent, fantastic, Tuesday evenings where Elowins dear mother would teach her her favourite subject in magic… Drumroll please…. Awesome Astronomy! She woke each Tuesday with a sense of excitement killing her Five more minutes mum! attitude. She grinned and stretched and ran downstairs. Personally Elowins favourite constellation was Orion, for no particular reason.

Once on Elowins eighth birthday her father had surprised her with her own telescope. While some people prayed before bed, or read a book, Elowin… Guess what, Studied the stars! Her addiction to the stars sometimes caused issues though… One time she stayed up past, nine, ten, eleven, twelve o clock, reading the stars and making charts. Well… Elowins sister Cora, or as Elowin calls her Coco was furious as Elowin sprinted into her room at twelve thirty four to inform her on her amazing discovery. Well. She may have called it amazing but Cora called it a lot of things I can not repeat. “You little idiotic dumbo! It’s twelve something and I want to sleep! Get lost!” And roughly pushed her out of the room while silently cursing her in her head.

Another time Elowin snuck out at night to see the ‘Planetary Parade” on February of 2022. It was beautiful but Elowin accidentally dropped her telescope, which she had snuck out with her, on the foot of their pet cat at home, Fiddlesticks and he let out an almighty “Yowl! Argh!” But in a cat like way. And Elowins dad rushed out assuming that someone was kidnapping, or should I say Catnapping their cat. But at the sight of his daughter looking sheepish holding some star charts and the dropped telescope and the angry and licking his foot cat, David understood. He told Elowin to come inside, made her bandage Fiddlesticks foot. “Sorry, Fids” Elowin whispered to the poor cat.

As you can see Elowins obsession with Astronomy often caused issues and lots of being grounded, but every day Elowin will and can return to the telescope, star charts in hand, pencil and notebook to record all her ‘Amazing’ discoveries. Her mother, Father and Cora know now to be wary of Elowin when she was near or had a telescope in her hand. She still remembers her first diary entry. Here’s and extract…
Dear Diary,
I love Astronomy…

From the moment I got my Hogwarts letter I begged my parents to let me get my wand. They said no though, most likely because Olivia, my sister would wave it around wildly and somehow break our entire house. Instead they let me do two different shopping trips. One for books and one for actual magic equipment. I only was allowed to go buy my textbooks first. I'm not complaining I just thought that it would be more effective to actually practice the magic. But thankfully my parents didn't let me get my wand because soon after I started reading my textbooks(and a few extra books) I learned about restrictions on underage wizardry. So I just read my textbooks over and over, making sure I had all this knowledge in my head so when I got to school I wouldn't be behind. Out of all the subjects I read about, Charms was my favorite. I liked how you need to be precise and have really clear pronunciation with your words. I can't even count how many times i've read Book of Spells by Miranda Goshawk. Just reading each book made me even EXTRA excited to go to Hogwarts. However, I still kept up with my muggle school because even if I wasn't going next year, I had to make sure no one would suspect a thing. Someone would SURELY notice if a straight A student's grades dropped randomly. So I was spending less time then wanted to on studying magic. But once August rolled around, I was able to get my wand and other supplies, and more books about Hogwarts and the wizarding world. I got home with my new wand and hid it in my secret room that I made with my mother and father, olivia doesn't know about it so it's the perfect place to practice. By that time i've read all possible books about the BEST subject, Charms, I don't think I mentioned that I LOVED Charms. The Dark arts were my least favorite. They sounded quite harsh.I wanted to cast a spell SO BAD, but I didn't want to get expelled from Hogwarts before I even got there. So I waited until the night before I went to Hogwarts. Because that is when I got this thought, well the ministry didn't come after me for sneezing bubbles, and if I'm really careful no one would know that I even cast it. It was really risky. But I decided to cast a spell. Besides, I had read each book at least 2 times, with all the knowledge i surly wasn't going to blow anything up... I decided to try my favorite spell that I found. Wingardium Leviosa. it was the levitation spell. Which sounded SUPER interesting, because of the muggle law of physics. I don't know why I decided to cast it because like I said before I did't want to get expelled from Hogwarts before I even got there. I did the swish and flick movement that I had read about so many times. I found a piece of pink satin and said, "Wingardium Leviosa!" the pink piece of satin flew up into the air. I smirked, reading textbooks DO get you somewhere....

- As you are applying for Prodigal Charms Learner, please explain a little more as to how Tina would develop this skill. Whilst enrolled in Muggle school, Tina would not have had her wand and it is unclear of her age here as she would get her wand at 11, just before her admission into Hogwarts, therefore would not have her wand at the age of 10.

Name of the ability: Prodigal Defense Against the Dark Arts Learner
Describe why this fits your character:
Reducio
Santiago had always been a scholar. With his father’s career in magical history, many believed—not least his parents—that Santi would inherit his father’s love for books, theory and magical history. While in some cases that turned out to be correct, finishing all his courses and homework with top marks, the boy realized early that he enjoyed a more practical approach, finding a sense of purpose in the subjects that blended theory and practice. Especially the subjects that offered a hint of adrenaline. Defence against the dark arts seemed to offer it all, and it quickly became one of his favorite classes. Of course, he enjoyed most of them considering that he was a quick learner, absorbing the knowledge he could access like a sponge.

Determined and purposeful at his core, Santi brainstormed potential career paths in his first year. While he was still young and only had rough guidelines to follow, he knew that he wanted to do something important and make an impact in the world like his parents. In his mother’s case, socially more than academically, though she was clever and had her own credentials in her baggage.

By the time his second year approached, Santi considered the option of aiming for a position at the ministry after graduation. After consulting with his parents, who were always eager to push their children to success, the advice he received was to continue doing well in his classes, and that defence against the dark arts were especially important in the majority of roles regarding magical law. Since that aligned with his interests, he was nothing short of excited to dive deep into the subject. He spent the summer leading up to his second year catching up on his literature, getting familiar with the theory so he could focus on the spellcasting in class.

Returning to school, he was prepared, excited, and most of all determined to put in the work required to reach his goals. Some might have called his extra reading and studying beyond the classroom and assigned homework over-ambitious or barking mad. Santiago, however, saw little purpose in wasting his time on childish pursuits. His efforts paid off almost immediately: he consistently mastered spells faster than his classmates, often achieving results on the first try that others struggled with for weeks. His natural aptitude and quick thinking in Defence Against the Dark Arts soon set him apart, earning him the respect of his professors and the occasional request to tutor his peers.

Ability: Evasive Maneuvers

Reducio
Stretch. Stretch.

Diana always loved being active. That feeling of being ever so slightly out of breath. Of the ache in muscles after a long day of playing sports and having to push herself to the limit. Diana's childhood was one of running, climbing, jumping and sprinting. Oftentimes joked to be a blur, the muggleborn witch spent near evrey day of her life outside. This, of course, has led to a physicality that was perfectly suited for being nimble. Be that managing to outmanoeuvre other sporty kids in football, just about staying out of reach whilst playing Tag or her refusal to let her rivals win when it came to laps and racing. Sure, the ambitious nature she had may have gotten on people's nerves. But it was never malicious. She just wanted to be better and enjoyed the practice of striving to be so.

Stretch. Stretch.

Today was just like all the other days. Gearing up for yet another game, Diana exhaled slowly, relaxed and in her zone. Three. Two. One. Go. And she was off like a blur. Trainers stamping against the ground, eyes honed in and focused not on the other kids around her, but on the line that marked the finish. She felt herself peeling away; she felt that blissful moment where she was moving. Where she was alive. If Diana wasn't the best. If she wasn't the quickest. She sure as heck would be if she had anything to say about it.

The other kids at Sports Day, of course, adored just how much more seriously Diana took this. She was a good friend. It was just a shame that she had this annoying overcompetitive streak. Something they'd unfortunately gotten used to in the time that they knew her. It'd caused just a few arguments growing up, but never anything too serious. Still. It was an aspect of personality that had usually grated growing up. This had changed somewhat recently...

It's easy to remember your first school-age bully. Someone who would be, at the time you met them, your arch-rival for all existence. Growing up, much less so, until they were completely forgotten in contrast to the real-world issues they would have to face. But still, the memory of Alicia was still fresh in her mind. Diana knew exactly why she'd become the mortal enemy of this girl for life. Sticking up for a quiet "Weird" girl in the class and thus, earning the ire of Alicia instead. But, that was fine. It meant that she would distract. And it meant that she could outmanoeuvre.

That same speed that so often annoyed people before was now put to an actual, worthwhile use. Each foot extended to trip could be hopped over. Each wad of gum launched at her hair could be ducked. It came to a head when outside on that same football field, she'd annoyed others with by working all too hard to be better than them. It was easy. The shove was seen from a mile away. It was only a matter of ducking out to the side and sticking her leg out in kind, a moment off balance, and a moment fallen facefirst into mud. Whilst, sure, it would still be annoying whenever Diana sprinted during a casual jog or tried just a little harder than most in order to win... but at least hew class mates knew, when the time came for it, she'd be doing so to help them..

As a kid Astal has always liked combat sports and games, her family really valued her tendencies as power was needed to be respected by her cousins or other family members. Almost every day after school Astal would go directly to her village’s dojo were her favorite martial arts teacher taught. What Astal prefered were the sports were she could be alone on one team while the rest of the kids were against her, it allowed her to stop thinking and just let her feelings surface within her fists and legs.

Furthermore because of her strict parents, over the course of the years, she learned to recognize her parents foot steps as they approached. At first it was quite difficult, she always mixed up her dad’s and brother’s but her mother’s was easy to recognize due to her lighter foot and her tendency to walk around squeaky floor boards. It was when Astal was around 9 that she understood how to differentiate her dad and brother, her dad had a bit of a heavy step while her brother’s was fast. Also she used the sound made by their shoes to find out in which direction they were moving. By using this skill she developed her strategic spirit to quickly figure out all the possible results and movements that may happen. She also used this when she wanted to not cross paths with her parents, she quickly quickly thought of a different route.

As Astal grew older she used this during her martial arts courses were it allowed her to not need to look around her to see the attackers, she could just hear them coming from the different directions. Also, she could quickly assess the ground and know according to the distance of her opponents, which ones to attack first.

Another example was also when Astal was young, she loved during her free by time in the weekend or after school to just run into the woods when no one was looking. She’d sit silently on a log within an open clearing and just listen to her surroundings, the sounds of birds chirping or leaves brushing the trees. It helped to soothe her when she was emotional, sad or angry. She always went there and closed her eyes.

Finally, when she was a bit younger, Astal loved to play hide and seek with her brother and cousins. They would hide in the forest and try to pass unnoticed for as long as possible. Sometimes when Astal needed to change hiding spot she quickly assessed the surrounding mouvements and found a way to pass unnoticed to a new hiding place.

During the summer prior to Jon inquiring about the open Professor position at Hogwarts that he would later fill, he had helped his brother move into the townhouse he had lived in for the past two decades. It had bothered him at first, having another set of hands around the house all the time. He would get spooked, turning a corner and seeing his brother there, or other times annoyed when he had to start scheduling times to shower to avoid making the old water pipes throw a fit. But the one day that he needed his brother there, he had left.

Anton stated he was going on the weekly grocery run earlier that morning and Jon grunted in response, flipping open the Daily Prophet to keep up to date with the whereabouts of life outside his small cobbled home. Upon turning a page, a strange pang struck the man in the chest. Quickly folding his newspaper, Jon tried to sit up from the couch, only for another surge of pain to lurch through his chest, making his hand clutch at the flannel he wore, knuckles turning an uneasy shade of white from the pressure. His mind reeled, he knew what these signs meant, but he also knew there was no history in his family of heart abnormalities, and he had been healthy thus far. So for him, an oncoming heart attack was sudden and alarming.

The best thing for him to do in the house by himself was to wait out the pain as it came in waves. As it subsided momentarily, he felt his back slide down against the couch, head lulled back on the cushion as another flare up occurred. His breathing faltered, soft and ragged as he struggled to keep his eyes open, focusing on the cracked ceiling. As stubborn of a man as Jon was, his eyes momentarily fluttered shut as he contemplated getting help. Wetting his lips with his tongue, he’d push himself up and hobble a few paces to the kitchen, snatching his wand off the counter as it clattered the floor in the same instance he did.

The man kept his eyes open long enough to scan the room. Damned wizarding world and its lack of cellphone usage. He wasn’t about to shoot sparks inside of his house and draw a bunch of attention to him. He hadn’t thought out this plan well. He couldn’t focus well enough to cast anything to help him, nor had any medicine in the house prepared for this sort of incident. His eyes landed on the scraps of parchment littered in the bin. The best thing he could do for himself is write the gaps between the pain spreading in his chest, and worse case scenario, his time of death. As morbid as the thought was, he couldn’t begin to guess what Anton would do if he came home to his unresponsive body on the floor. Determination flared through Jon as he grasped the wand and raised his shaking hand to draw the shallow arch of the Accio charm. It was almost as if a breeze had taken it, and swept it off the table. His eyes twitched as his heart threatened to tear itself from his chest cavity. Then he re-focused on the paper. The repeated shallow arch with wand and silence. His chest trembled as the paper flew to him this time, in a quick line, landing on his lap. Taking a few deep breaths he’d stare down at the paper in his lap, a silent shock rolling over him. He managed to do that? And then realization dawned on him. He still didn’t have a quill. Jon kept his other hand clutched over his chest as his eyes closed once more, his hearing beginning to buzz right as the creak of the front door opened.

Marcella always had a keen interest in Potions. Ever since she was a young child, she'd make her father and mother read to her from any potions book she could find. The summer prior to her attending Hogwarts, Marcella had read about all the potions in her school's potions syllabus. She had stayed up late into the night to memorize the uses of the ingredients, how to make various potions, their uses and their effects. When Marcella had finally gotten her letter, she was so excited that she had dragged her parents to Diagon Alley so they could buy her school supplies. On that day, her father had bought her, her pewter cauldron and crystal vials for school. She was so ecstatic, and she couldn’t wait to make a potion with the. Just thinking about potions, sent a thrill of excitement through her veins. Soon after she had come home, she decided to use her Father's potion ingredients to try making the Herbicide Potion that she had learnt about. She thought by doing so, she would also be able to help her mother as she had been complaining the day before that the weeds in the garden has grown too much. Marcella always wanted to be at the top of her class, and she believed that after all the time and effort she put into studying and practicing potions, she would be able to make that wish come true. She couldn't wait to make her professor proud. Before she began her potion she decided to play some music, to amplify her mood and the vibe. She walked over to the gramophone and started playing the song ‘Lonesome Town’ by Ricky Nelson. It may not be that upbeat and loud, but it was Marcella’s favorite song. She prepared all of the ingredients she'd need to make the Herbicide Potion and got started. She decided that making the potion from memory would be the best decision as it would allow her to remember it permanently."Stir.....and let it boil for an hour, Ok!" Marcella let her potion boil and went to grab her potions textbook so she could read it again. She had added notes in the margins of her textbook. After an hour she went through the last steps and waved her wand. "Yes it's done!" She then, took a bottle of the potion and ran to the garden. There she pulled out the weeds and applied her potion. Marcella's eyes watered as she realized her potion had worked. After many nights and days spent on perfecting her potions skill she had finally made a successful potion.

Ever since Harumi was young, she liked observing everything, her environment, the people around her, and even her own self, which caused her to notice things others did not, she noticed the simplest changes, a clock slightly moved to the right, a different colour paper between the pages of a book, or a pencil that's not in its place.

Her overthinking was probably the reason, her mind worked overtime, so naturally she aimed her thoughts at her environment instead of overthinking the same thought and getting bored. One of her favourite pass time, when she's alone, is laying on her bed and looking for random things, she would decide on a few things to find in the room, five red pencils, two erasers, one pink toy, as she grew older the things she looked for became smaller and more hidden, buttons, pins, and hair ties.

It was like a puzzle to her, she actually enjoyed it, it was all only a game to her. When easter came around, she would go egg hunting and find all the eggs faster than everyone else in the neighbourhood. When one of her parents is looking for something, they would call for her and ask where it is, she would take a quick look around the house or the place that the lost thing is suspected to be in and she would find it in a matter of minutes.

It might seem strange, but it's easily explained when you learn her paternal grandmother was like that as well, Harumi once read her grandma's old dairy, in it, her grandma wrote about her favourite activities when she was a child, one of them was looking for hidden things, whether it's easter eggs hunt or one of those "look for the object" puzzles posted in her favourite weakly magazine.

Harumi was happy to find resemblance between her and her grandmother, she even decided to train this talent of hers more, she didn't take it seriously at first, it was just a childish hobby at first, but by the time she was ten years old, it was no longer a hobby, it became something normal. Yes, she found the earring in the drawer full of jewelry in less than five seconds, so what? Everyone can do that, but the truth is, not everyone can do it, Harumi unknowingly developed an ability to quickly notice things she wants to find. Perhaps she wouldn't have developed this ability, had she never read her grandma's diary or decided to play a silly game, she shaped a part of her future without ever knowing.
