I write way too much. My replies get into crazy rambles after they hit 1k. There are people who probably write way more though.
I am not even singed. My wings are untouched. You use them for everything, except flight.

My advice is to make sure you love your character. Also, sometimes, it doesn’t even have to be that long. A reply is supposed to convey what the character does, feels, says, etc. It doesn’t have to be War and Peace lol.
As for backstory writing, these are some questions that help:
Reducio
Where and when were you born?
Who were your parents?
Were you an only child? If yes, how did that effect you? If no, tell us about your siblings - who is older, younger and how did this effect you?
Did you grow up in a magical household?
How does your family feel about magic? How do they feel about muggles?
If you are a special race/ability, talk about that. How did it enter your family line? How has this effected you growing up if at all?
Did anything relevant happen to you during your early childhood? If so, what?
Did you ever go to school? Was it a muggle school or a basic school where other magical children attended? Were you home-schooled? We presume you are literate in character so you had to learn to read or write somewhere.
Did you have any friends growing up before Hogwarts?
When did your magic first surface?
When you got your letter of acceptance to Hogwarts, how did your life change?
Once you have entered Hogwarts, discuss your life and the years as you experienced them.
