name of ability that you are applying for: cat's grace (y iv) | (wc: 400)
describe why this fits your character:Reducioyou had not expected the summer before your fourth year to bring such trauma and at a wedding no less. the expectation and understanding that there would always be people and things seeking power greater than you could even comprehend was learned in full with a possession on the self that left you feeling empty and paranoid.
you grandparents have a cat named cosmo, the orange tabby who was as cuddly as he was fickle. the beast had been your only real companion during your time in germany and through watching it move through its domestic life, did it teach you many of things. the first was how easy it was to move with a cat's like grace, body agile and nimble through tight corners or to squeeze through a narrow corridor. silent steps to ensure that no one would know exactly where you are at any given time, and a center of gravity that could automatically activate if things went dire.
all of the things that you want, so you decide to implement them for yourself and on your own terms too. at first it was a little strange, but once you committed to leaning into the grace; it came quite naturally to you.
the shadows become your home and you learn how to move with a swiftness and a quietness to the library where you search through tombs and scrolls about the ancient magicks that the spell don't teach outright. it feels impossible to find, but you do not give up hope yet. the grace comes in dodging crowds, first years who don't quite know where they're going, and keeping quiet when that is the best action moving forward.
what is unexpected is how it manifests for you on the quidditch pitch. you've always been keen with the quaffle, fingers itching to toss it and throw into the goal but you've seemed to be able to find the shadows and the spots were the sun shines its brightest to hide from other's field of vision. with a practiced blatch, you were as surprised as the people you were practicing with that you were able to accomplish it so smoothly and without being caught.
perhaps this meant winning your very first sport at hogwarts, there could only be hope that it'd come sooner rather than later before you would be labeled a curse or worse, a poor quidditch player.

word count 421/400 His Hogwarts acceptance letter had come in and he was more than thrilled, he was ecstatic! His brother and sister had always told him that Hogwarts was the best place to be and you would never get bored there. He had nodded along to them saying that. A few weeks after his acceptance letter and they had gone to diagon alley with him they started to chat very quietly.
He wasn't interested in what they were saying though. He was examining his new wand. The beautiful beech wood on the outside was fantastic looking to him and he knew the unicorn core inside was super cool as well! He had a smile tainted across his face as he continued to glance at it.
His brother and sister came over and kneeled down next to him for some reason with a serious look of their faces. He was utterly confused. They then told him the story on how their mother had died. His face went from shock, to sadness, and then to anger. He was never allowed to know why she had died until he was eleven years old because apparently when you're eleven, you are suddenly mature enough.
They told them how the potion had exploded in her face and how she had laid on the ground mumbling something. His brother then said, "Should we tell him?" which his sister responded to with a nod. Apparently his mothers last words were "Give the wand to Thomas, it's under my bed." They kissed her on the cheek before running upstairs. Their father was paralyzed in shock during this and sat next to their mother sobbing.
They found a wand hidden under her bed, it was amazing looking and rather swishy. The next day they convinced their father to take them to Olivander's so he could tell them the wands details. He had them each hold the wand and flick it. When his sister did the flick a pot exploded, and his brother had made the roof almost collapse. However, when Thomas held it a calming sense had settled in his heart and he knew this wand was most certainly his. Ollivander confirmed his thoughts saying it was his.
He then examined the wand and told them what it was made from. The siblings spent the day crying and in sadness all confused why her last words were to talk about a wand. Nothing was making sense anymore. He knew he must treasure this wand, and never let anything ever happen to it.

72/50Thomas fits this well because he has always been unconsciously loyal and protective over his friends. Though, he may not realize this at certain times. As Thomas is a Gryffindor this wand makes sense as he is bold and certainly brave. His brother was a parseltounge and his sister knew a tad bit of Gobleegook so he had grown up around people who were focused on languages and the eloquence of them.
wand core - coral
Reducio
103/50Thomas is well suited to coral because he finds inner peace within himself at the most peril of times. As life has presented himself with the most outrageous trauma and situations he has always powered through them. Not angrily though, with kindness to himself and others. When he casts spells he has an easy time concentrating with them, that's because he does not get angry very easily. He is known to withstand these outer pressures and because of that he usually does not feel impulsive. He is know to check up on friends during the hardest of times with kind and peaceful remarks.
wand flexibility - surprisingly swishy
Reducio
50/50His wand is rather surprisingly swishy because of his willingness to adjust to hard situations. He is known to be able to fight through challenges with honor and willing to bend to any challenge. If he is fighting someone, he is okay with having to retreat because of his adeptness.
wand length - 12.3 inches (33 centimeters)
Reducio
69/50His wand is rather balanced. He knows he is easy to be around, not certain dramatic by chance but rather a good in between. He can be hilarious at times but quite stern on the off-hand. He is a good person and can express gratitude very easily to others. He is best fitted for this because he is easy to get along with, and can make dull situations fun.
STATUS: Pending, Sage, February 10th
-The current wand length is below the minimum of 12.7 cm (5 inches). Please edit this to be between 12.7 cm 35.56 cm.

Fawkes had always been curious about Astronomy. Considering she lived in a village on the outskirts of London the view she had of the night sky was marvellous. On top of that her family would regularly go on camping trips during the summer holidays which gave her even more opportunities to gaze upon the night sky.
Her father came from a family who had deep interest in the working of the planets, stars and the universe as a whole. Despite it never becoming the main career path of their family, the knowledge they gained was passed down from generation to generation. Her father would do the same teaching her and her brothers about Astronomy. They would look through the telescope on clear nights and identify as many constellations as they could. Her father would also show her new ones every time they did this. It was their own special way of bonding with each other.
Unlike her brothers, Fawkes had an interest for Astronomy that rivalled even her fathers. Her parents would tell her about how when she was younger her accidental magic was more often than not somehow always related to it. Her first instance of magic resulted in star like pockets of light, when her younger brother broke her toys her anger would cause there to be mini meteor showers indoors, and so on. She took it as a sign that her love for Astronomy was definitely not just surface level but something that was integrated into her very being.
Among other things in their house was a huge library and within it hundreds upon hundreds of books on various subjects. She started small with the introductory books about the types of celestial objects before moving on to things like their life cycles and how they affected other celestial objects. But this was still only the information that came from most muggle astronomers. It wasn't until she reached the books that were written by wizards and witches that she realised just how important astronomy was to the wizarding worlds.
She learned all about the basic spells that were related to Astronomy and while she couldn't cast them due to being underage, she would find random sticks outside and practice wand movements and incantations for them. At some point when her father thought she was old enough he showed her the family archive with all the records of the studies and experiments conducted by their family throughout the generations. The archives touched on numerous subjects but of course she was most interested in the Astronomy section. While she was restricted from certain books, she did read the ones she did have access to extensively.
She was proficient in multiple incantations and wand movements by the time she was old enough to attend Hogwarts though she never stopped in her practicing and research determined to master the secrets of the universe no matter what.

Describe why this fits your character:Reducio- Word count: 941/400Luck is a funny thing. Although it is a mere illusion tricking the mind into thinking that it influences circumstances for the better or the worse, it is seen as much more than such. Many rely on this illusion when the stakes are far too high to even imagine putting all of one's hope into a concept such as luck itself. However, what else must mortals rely on to shape their destiny? Logic? Surely not. That is far too realistic to be true. But that notion is utter nonsense if you look at the hard facts. However, sometimes luck manages to slip its way into one's pocket and successfully wheedles its way into the certain turing of events, creating a domino effect: one insignificant moment that influences an entire chapter of that one mortal's life.
For Lyanna, that ripple effect began on October 14th of 2025, when the sunchild became the Hufflepuff's new Dueling Captain. Sports became the beacon of her newfound strength, the pillar of her success that kept her moving forward despite the hardships that she was undergoing at that point in her life. It was a slight remedy to the sleepless nights and constant nightmares plaguing her 24/7, giving her a rush of giddy energy that drove away the bad. At first, that new light was nothing more than the acceptance letter that signaled that yes, she was good enough to achieve what she poured her heart into. She could do anything if she put her mind to it and didn't give up. And that was the first good night sleep Lyanna got in who knows how long.
Then, in late January of the second half of that same school year, the Dueling Captain was promoted yet again, this time to the official Hufflepuff Quidditch Team. Her position was that of a chaser, soaring through the skies to pass and score the Quaffle. Although Lyanna would begin her tenure on the team by starting the game benched, that didn't dampen her spirits, for the crowd influences the players much more than one would ever guess. But whether the sunchild would start on the bench or not was irrelevant: Lyanna wouldn't be able to contribute much to her team if she wasn't able to fly at all; because if one of the other chasers was knocked off their broom, she would need to step in and take their place.
It took a while for the second year to figure out what her talent was in Quidditch. It was easy for her to narrow it down to which of the four positions she was best at, as chaser, beater, or even keeper were all options but chaser had always been her favorite and best position. However, merely being a chaser wouldn't do her team any good. No, she would need to specialize herself into one specific field in the role. During practices, she experienced each different one. First came scorer. Possibly one of the more exhilarating roles, as it required weaving between opponents at high speed to reach her goal (the other team's goalposts) and score a hoop. While fun, there were others on the team who were also leaning toward that position, which made her more prone to choosing a different role after all. The following one she tried was cheater. This specific position wasn't her favorite. It required a lot of fouls and penalty laps more often than not. She quickly discarded that idea; it really didn't suit her personality or her drive. Next came the saver. This position was meant to ensure that all players were saved and returned to their broom as quickly and efficiently as possible when falling off their broom. At first, the idea of even fully considering it seemed like a waste of time. Why would anyone spend all of their time saving other players, she originally asked herself? But during practice it became clear to her that this was one of the most vital aspects of the game. Almost every round did people fall off their broom, and without being fully conscious of it, it was always she who put her heart and soul into countless dives to save her allies and manage to return them to their broom as quickly as possible. She knew what it was like to fall from the sky, Icarus plunging downwards towards his demise, scathed from the burning wax melting from his disheveled wings, almost akin to fallen angel. And ten, once on sprawled on the cold, hard ground, to be forsaken, those who were previously known as teammates averting their eyes to continue on with the game. But Lyanna never did. No, the sunchild would never avert her eyes, for she knew what it was like to fall helplessly. Nor would she try to save them carelessly, for she cared to much to do that. These were lives who had fought bravely. They did not deserve to fall on the battlefield. Not yet.
Each practice she did it again and again. Dive, save, return to broom. She got better at it. Faster in her saves, more fluent in her movements. Practice makes perfect, and learned to do it seamlessly. Lyanna became the saver on her team once and for all, the one they would all rely on to save their Icaruses, a pillar of their success. The position came to speak to her like none other. Oh so many times did she save them from perishing and lending a visit to the hospital wing, and it became her pride to do so. To be seen. And not just seen, appreciated.
She was their savior.
- Additional notes: For reference, when I use the term "sunchild", I am referring to Lyanna.

Sergei Voronin was a troublemaker, and perhaps, in a way, still is. His life was a rather unstable one, and, naturally, that made him a tad unstable as well when it came to social situations. For example, the first time Sergei punched someone was in elementary school. He was maybe... 6? He had tripped on his shoelaces, and a group of boys began to laugh at him, making fun of his clumsy mistake. Little Sergei didn't cry about it, though everyone thought he was about to with how much he screwed up his face. Then, the boy saw red, a rage filling him at their attempts at humiliating him. So he got up, expression shifting into a wrinkled-brow pout, and threw a punch at the nearest boy laughing. The boy fell to the ground, staring dumbfounded at Sergei, before their own features scrunched up and they flung themselves at him. Before things got too far, both boys were separated and stuck in detention, but seeing the other boy's face bruised purple with tears beading at the corners of his eyes was satisfying enough to make it worth the trouble.
This response... became somewhat of a habit for Sergei. As his home life degraded, so did his school life. His anger was hair-trigger, and when it flared, bruises were both made and gained. His hostility did a sound job of ensuring he never got friends, and ensured the principal always knew his name on sight. As he grew so did his skills in a scrap, until, so long as his enemy's body weight was close enough to his own, he could put up a good fight. His arsenal of physical attacks grew, and while he was hardly a professional, he learned from experience what worked in a pinch. Same size as him? Punch them in the face. Smaller then him? Kick them. They fought back? Grapple with them. They were better at throwing punches? Choke them out. Soon enough, no one in school bullied with him, or messed with him. The first ones who tried it were quickly put in their place by the scrappy young boy. Naturally he hardly won every fight, but on the bright side, he had a better pain tolerance then most, and tried to learn from his mistakes so he could beat up his enemy better the next time.
His brother was often his sparring partner as well. They didn't dislike each other, but if they ever got into arguments it almost always turned into roughhousing where one would always try to dominate the other to prove their point. This... mildly safter environment was perfect for honing his skills, until eventually it was a way to bond as well as a way to argue, or even a way to simply let off steam. So, despite the bruises, those bouts of roughhousing were something Sergei always looked back on fondly, and they were always a good thing to recall when he found himself in another fight with a far less friendly opponent.

As Olivia is from a wealthy family, they wanted what was best for her. Her father never grew up rich and he knew he wanted to give his children the best possible chance at life. Olivia was presented with four options at the age of four, Archery, Horse riding, Swimming, and Fencing. Her parents chose these because they believed it was designed to help build focus, physical strength, discipline and determination. Olivia had chosen horse riding as she loves animals and archery since her brother was doing fencing and she didn’t want to be the same, or be accused of copying. Olivia has always been good at sports it is something that has always come naturally to her and so she was overjoyed by the extra clubs. Horse riding allowed her to learn patience as she had to gain the horses trust, also learning how to ride and preform tricks with an animal takes a lot longer. Trust as she had to trust her horse would follow her lead. Responsibility as she had to care for an animal and ensure she was not working it too far and quick reactions if the horse did something unexpected. Archery on the other hand helped her with focus and with her reaction time as she had to learn to shoot moving targets. Her parents couldn't be prouder as she won some awards and medals in these sports throughout her childhood, against others her age. When Olivia was 6 she joined her primary schools football team further developing her reaction time and becoming a great team player. Football almost came too naturally to her compared to any other sport making her fall in love with the sport. Olivia loved the attention she received during competitions in all sports as well as the adrenaline rush.
On top of all this Olivia also got up to a lot of mischief with her older brother despite the age difference. Together they pulled many fun pranks, got up to no good, and often had to run away from their victims. Atlas taught Olivia how to be quick on her feet, fast to come up with answers and react to changes in the environment if a prank could not go as planned due to unforseen circumstances. For example Atlas and Olivia along with one of Atlas's friends decided to prank the friends older brother by filling his car with ballons that were filled with glitter. Olivia was pouring glitter into the balloons, Atlas was blowing them up and his friend was putting them into the car. As they were nearly finished Olivia heard footsteps, she almost instantly got up tapping her brother, slamming the car door shut and running into some bushes. Atlas and his friend however didn’t react as fast, resulting in them getting caught and having to face an angry victim, since some of the balloons popped in the car due to the rush he was livid. Olivia sighed in relief as she didn't have to face the consequences and watched in amusement as Atlas and his friend were getting a harsh telling off and had to deep clean the car. Till this day no one would ever believe Olivia was there, and Atlas has become more known for pulling pranks even though Olivia is involved most of the time. Atlas is not always a bad influence in fact he was a good influence overall, he was just someome who loved to have a lot of fun. However since they were wealthy they never faced serious consequences making them both become a bit arrogant.

ReducioAll his pubescent life, a bulwark he’d been dubbed. A protector. An impenetrable shield that safeguarded his little brother Briar and cousin Isadora from harm.
In this youth, this watchfulness had been strictly obligatory for Alphonse, whose Caribbean-bred mother insisted—or rather demanded him—as the eldest of the Toussaint brood. The boisterous boy was required set the example, so the Haitian witch always prattled, and oftentimes got in trouble when Alphonse failed to do so. This ingrained selflessness slowly became second nature as Alphonse aged and each Toussaint began their schooling in Castelobruxo, yet it would also become his downfall that drove a wedge between the Caribbean-bred wizard and his kin.
Despite the boy’s confident, arrogant demeanor, the pubescent teen cared more for his family than himself. However, what Alphonse lacked was tact. What could’ve been ceased with simple words, the boisterous boy instead resorted to violence—and cared none for the consequences.
More often than not, Alpjonse would fight first and think later. And, in the beginning months of his second year of Castelobruxo, this became Alphonse’s wake-up call. A deep-seated desperation to protect his blood led to an all-out brawl between himself and Isadora’s bullies, and despite Alphonse’s good intentions, Briar resented him for it. Expulsion was a consequence the Haitian boy had never considered, until it was too late.
That following Christmas break, his parents truly tried to correct the instilled behavior. Both Sarai and Fabian encouraged Alphonse into therapy and sports as an outlet, yet it would be the Quidditch pitch where the boisterous boy shined brightest. Between his tenure at Castelobruxo and now Ilvermorny, Alphonse had experience in the Beater position, yet found most thrill in being a Chaser.
His desperation to safeguard his kin slowly bled into his fellow Quidditch teammates by extension, and the Carribean-bred wizard felt a sense of hopelessness when they failed to stay on their brooms. It was in his nature to protect, and thus, Alphonse devoted much time studying the flight of his upperclassmen. It was then when the boisterous boy noticed a maneuver that rescued fellow teammates before they met their doom on the ground below, and so began his training.
Alphonse dared not ask anyone to willingly jump off his Silver Arrow to master this skill, though it was an idea. Instead, after some deliberation and crafting, he opted for a dummy filled with thefted sacks of flour and eggs to mimic the weight. He kicked the flour-filled dummy off his broom again and again, most of the time ending in a disaster of exploded eggs and flour on the ground below, until Alphonse found himself catching the weighted dummy with ease.
It would only be a matter of time before Alphonse dared attempt this with a living person.

As a baby, she rarely cried, her parents even wondered if it was normal at some point. She spent most of her time staring at whatever her parents were showing her, eyes wide with curiosity, sometimes giggling when her dad made a weird face.
As a kid, she would never yell, or be mean with her older brother, even though he pushed every button just to annoy her. She would always brush it off, doing her own thing.
Oliver was quite the opposite. The class clown, the one everyone couldn't help but notice, because his presence was so strong. He always had lots of friends, and he surrounded himself with people he could laugh with.
Lya never had many friends growing up, and at Hogwarts, she could only hope things would be different. It's not like she never tried making friends... but she was quiet, barely noticeable in a big group.
But if her few friends were asked to describe her with only one word, that would be it. Calm. Whenever they were around her, even if they were stressed, nervous, or very excited, her mere presence was enough to make them relax. She would look at them with kind eyes, listen, and nod when needed. She didn't even need to say anything.
That was her strong suit. Eventually, even Oliver started being calmed by his sister. He got a bit quieter too, like inspired by Lya's quiet strength. They became close around that time, just before he received his Hogwarts letter.
Sometimes she wishes they would have gotten close earlier, because enow he had to leave, and she would be alone with her parents in their house. Lya never knew what being alone felt like, her brother always there, not far, like a shadow. An annoying one, but still.
She wrote to him every week, telling him about what she learned, or discovered. With time on her hands, she spent hours in her mother's huuuge library, reading piles of books until she fell asleep on the armchair, book open beside her. It made her very curious about the world in general.
And observant too. In conversations, she didn't talk much, but she listened. And observed. Her eyes often saw what others didn't, and she could always remember tiny details about people she met. Her friends felt very happy when Lya remembered something they had said to her weeks ago.
Her circle was small, but trustworthy. She trusted her friends, and her friends trusted her too. And they always knew, if they needed some peace and quiet, Lya was the one they should go to.

Saphira had never been alone. In school, she had her two best friends. At home, she had her lovely parents and older protective brother. And she loved her friends and family dearly; she couldn't think of a future without them. But still...sometimes she just wanted to be alone. She loved to just sit down in a corner and read a book, but how could she do that when her friends and family were always by her side? But what could she do? She didn't dare to tell her beloved people to give her some alone time, after all, they could think that she didn't want to be near them anymore and that was unforgiveable. So Saphira needed another idea how she could get a bit of alone time, and yes, maybe she was being overdramatic, but that was her nature.
Then it happened. One day, she was sitting outside in the garden watching a few stray cats playing with each other, and that was the moment she got an idea. What if she were just like her favourite animals? What could she do when she learned to be like cats? Cats were here in one moment, and in the next, they disappeared as if they had never been here before. And if they wanted to, they could hide for days. So Saphira started to observe cats more. And with time, she learned to hide/go like a cat.
She learned to sneak past her parents, brother, and friends. She didn't do it often as she still loved to spend much time with her beloved people. But sometimes, when the world was too big for her, when her emotions rolled over her, when she needed to calm down... she went into hiding. Getting past people without them noticing was one of her new talents. She could go through groups of people without bumping into anyone, without anyone noticing that she had been there for a moment. Just like a cat. If she didn't want to be seen, she wasn't. But that wasn't the only positive effect her new talent brought her. Another one was that she was now going around elegantly. Just like a cat. Even though she still was pretty clumsy. But that didn't stop her from learning of her failurs. Meaning, she studied her wrong doings. It improved her skill even more, but sadly, it didn't completely chance the fact that she was clumsy. But that was okay for her. She could still improve it in the future. For now she was okay with how talented she was.

For Tessie Cadell, Parseltongue would not feel like a rare ability. It would feel normal. She grew up in a quiet home, spending most of her time alone while her parents travelled for work. She did not expect conversation or comfort, so she became used to being on her own. Speaking Parseltongue would simply fit into her lifestyle that is very lacking in human interaction.
Medusa, her snake, was one of the few steady parts of her childhood and still to this day. Tessie received her at five years old, Medusa became a familiar presence. She stayed close, reacted to Tessie’s voice, and seemed to understand her in a way people often didn’t, Tessie never questioned this. It felt natural to her. Only when others (like maids because she didn’t grow up with other children) reacted with discomfort did she realise that her experience was unusual.
Tessie has always found it difficult to connect with people. Not because she lacks emotion, but because she struggles to express it in the ways others expect. She doesn’t view this as a weakness but as a strength, people look for warmth, facial affection, warmth and easy conversation. These things do not come easily to her. With snakes, none of that is necessary. They do not expect explanations or required her to fake her social abilities.
Parseltongue would not change who Tessie is. It would simply match the person she has always been: quiet, observant, and comfortable on her own. It would not make her strange. It will be fitting the life she leads, emphasising the fact that she doesn’t find comfort in humans but, in this case, snakes.
