Second string still play and are in the official team, yeah. IC, they'd just be benched until the first string gets knocked out but they can still earn stats etc. This is only applicable to Quidditch, ofc, as the others don't have strings.

Depends. Last time some teams were merged so 2-3 schools played on the same team if needed to fill the spots. Just depends on how many people are in the team

You don't have to make your first year be over!
You can always decide to stay back a year!
If you aren't in index you won't auto be moved to the next year.
If you are in index, you just have to tell Solomon Lear that you want to remain a 1st year.
