AI Use and You
I do find translation to be a legitimate use for AI for non-english speakers, but it's definitely a slippery slope, since they'd need to produce the non-translated originals to show they were self-derived, and I'm extremely empathetic to Lear's points about it being an inordinately unproductive use of staff time to police ~ the warning system seems fair to give them a chance to repent of their ways before being banned but risk of repeat offenders is real if they think they're going to get away with it and go back to doing it again, but the solution to that is just making it clear that they won't get away with it.
As an autistic person, I've checked some of my own writing before out of curiosity and gotten some up to like ~40% likelyhood to be AI with 0% actual use but never 100% - I think this phenomenon will probably get worse as there's more and more AI writing out in society kids will grow up reading it and naturally adapt their writing to more of that style naturally simply by virtue of that being what they're familiar with ~ that's how we learn writing after all, is by mimicking that which we've read naturally. Thankfully we aren't there yet as a society but it's a real danger I foresee in the future.
