Ever since a very young age, Kiera always had something about her. She had always been noticed when she walked the streets of her city, even when she wasn’t doing anything in particular. Even if she was simply just walking normally, or running to catch the bus, almost being too late. She didn’t know why, though she had always noticed it, she just stayed quite about it. Kie never knew what it was, was it her looks? Her voice? Her personality? Any or all she didn’t know, but she did know that she was noticed. For the first little while she found it really cool and in some ways awesome, that everybody always noticed her, she liked the attention. She even started trying to show off a little bit, if she would see people watching. Eventually though, she realized that it was kind of strange, and she started to stop liking it quite as much. Kiera found it weird that people that she didn’t even know would always look at her, she didn’t like it. She spent years trying to figure out what exactly about her there was that everyone saw, but still to this day she just doesn’t get it. There were many things about her, but many of those strangers wouldn’t know, so what was it? She decided that she would try to just ignore it though, paying attention to all that wouldn’t do her much good anyways, so there’s no point in noticing. In her head though, Kiera always stayed humble and all, but knew that she was a kind girl, and definitely wasn’t hard on the eye at least, though of course she would never even dare to say that out loud to anyone. To her, it would’ve made so much more sense for her to catch only the attention of people she already knew, since she knew that she had a nice personality, at least, of course she would to her friends, but to complete strangers is another story. Things stayed the same when she entered Hogwarts as well, it wasn’t just the people in her hometown, but also the witches and wizards of Hogwarts were distracted by her, by her mere presence. Kie didn’t try to get people to notice her, especially once she got to her new school, but it would just happen. She had learnt to deal with it, and accept the fact that people just noticed her, and sometimes even got distracted in it, but there was really nothing that she could do about that, other than to just be herself.

Klynn was never the most popular person throughout his life. Many people, muggle and magic alike, saw him as a cold and distant individual. As a result he didn't have many in the way of friends, with a few exceptions. With that said, he didn't mind that in the slightest. In fact, he actually enjoyed all the time he was given without others interrupting him. Over his long periods of watching others from a distance, he learned how to somewhat read people easier. He picked up on the mannerisms of others, how they hid emotions, how they interacted. Soon, he was even able to notice other people's presence around him, or note if they're are aware of him.

Although, at the same time, he loves watching other people not realise he can tell something's up about them because he enjoys watching drama between people. Klynn first did this upon pretending that he couldn't tell his Aunt's pet cat was slowly creeping up on before trying to pounce, with him simply turning and catching it mid-air.

But, rather than just for watching drama, he also loves freaking people out when he points out he knows they're there, or are hiding something (despite how little he explicitly states that to others). This continued throughout his whole life: he put people off, he observed other people's behaviours, he learned to know when anyone's around, and he loved watching the drama. Even to the few friends he had who did come near him, he still developed the same feeling of knowing of their presence. That also had the effect of him developing a love of people watching.

All the way to Hogwarts, he kept this weird skill, though he never paid much attention to it, it was just something he did and had stopped putting much of a conscious effort into doing it. He just observed others and figured people out, still much to his own enjoyment and love of watching others figure out he knows more than he leads others to believe. One thing he did dislike, however, was the fact that he knew these things. He didn't like being able to tell that a surprise is coming, especially since he so rarely had people even attempt to surprise him.

This ability does not warrant you the opportunity to see other people's thoughts rather you notice things more than others would normally do. Please fix that. (:

There are mentions of you saying, you have a feeling of knowing what your friends' presence or their thoughts, please remove the thoughts part, remember, this isn't some superpower to warrant you to infiltrate other people's thoughts but you notice things more than others would normally do as aforementioned.

“Cassius. You are needed.”

It was spring break and the young Ravenclaw was studying an old tome on goblin treasures in the family library when his mother stepped through the entrance archway. “Of course, mother,” Cassius replied, marking his place in his book before closing it. He rose from his chair and approached, her striking blue eyes fixed on him. Lavinia Eden was not a witch to be kept waiting, a truth Cassius was repeatedly reminded of.

“Follow me,” she said abruptly, turning and gesturing to the scion of the Eden family. Cassius followed her down a long corridor until they came to an aged oak door reinforced with dark iron bars. The door to the cellar storerooms. He had attempted to gain access to it numerous times, even with the use of the unlocking charm, all to repeated punishment but to no avail. The wards were stronger than anything he knew how to unlock.

Lavinia withdrew a long wand made of reed from her sleeve and tapped the tip of it on seemingly random sections of the stone wall surrounding the door. She then whispered something and placed her hand flat against the wood. His mother winced and withdrew her hand. He could see there were specks of blood on the door which were quickly absorbed into the wood. With a click louder than he might expect of a door this size, the cellar entrance opened.

“Mother, why are we going into the cellar?” Cassius asked, curiosity and trepidation in his voice. She said nothing as the pair stepped through the doorway and began to descend a spiraling stone staircase. A wand-lighting charm cast by his mother illuminated the unadorned walls around them. He had long been told the reason why that door was locked was for his protection. What did he need protecting from?

The staircase let out into a large dark room with arched ceilings. With a swish of Lavinia’s wand, torches around the room ignited in unison, illuminating hundreds of neatly stacked crates. Some crates were small, others larger than a carriage. Each was neatly labeled with what seemed to be random numbers giving no hint as to what their contents might be. He had seen crates like these but in London at their main warehouse. Unlike those crates which were branded with the logo and name of the family shipping company, these were unadorned.

“What is all this?” Cassius asked in slight disbelief. He was not sure what to expect after all these years but this was certainly not it. Not in his own cellar of all places.

“Your inheritance,” his mother said, already walking down one aisle towards an unadorned wooden door set into the stone wall. “One which you will receive in time when you are ready for the responsibility. This is the legacy of your father and generations before him. They were adventurers, archaeologists, and seekers of that which has been lost,” she explained, running her fingers along the edge of one large crate. “I show it to you now because I am beginning to see the same spark in you that I saw in your father when I first met him at Hogwarts many years ago. The ambition. The fervor for adventure.”

She turned and met his gaze. “I will not try to stifle this spark. I am not even sure it would be possible if I tried. It is in your blood as an Eden. However, I must provide you with caution. There are powerful and dangerous individuals and organizations that would be very interested to learn what is in these crates and harm us for having them. You will not and cannot mention it to anybody. Do you understand?”

“I understand,” Cassius said, nodding his head once. “But how? Why?” He had questions but Lavinia said nothing more on the topic. This particular silence from his mother was one he was familiar with. It usually meant: I will tell you when you are older.

The unadorned door was unlocked and the pair stepped through into a much smaller chamber. Torches were ignited, illuminating a room lined with antique filled shelves. There were no nondescript crates here. There was everything from jewelry and ancient armor to rusted goblets and grotesque creatures preserved in jars. Cassius stood in the middle of the room taking in his surroundings. He barely noticed his mother briefly disappear and return with what appeared to be an ornate wooden jewelry box in her hands.

“You will be a target,” Lavinia said, opening the box to reveal an ornate wand unlike any Cassius had seen before. “You will need a wand that will help you overcome the trials and tribulations yet to come. This is the wand of your grandfather, passed down to him after generations in the family. Silver lime with a Rougarou core. Powerful. Unyielding. You will be hard-pressed to find anything like it in the world. It cannot kill you but it will resist. Overcome it and it shall be yours. Let go and it will deem you unworthy.”

“I am ready,” Cassius heard himself say, not entirely believing it nor realizing he had said it. He eyed the wand with awe and trepidation, slowly reaching out with his right hand. How would it resist? As he took hold of it with a firm grip, he felt it… challenge him. In an instant he felt a searing pain as the wand burned him. He resisted the urge to let go, fighting back tears and screams of pain. It tried to bring him to his knees but the young Ravenclaw fought back. The pain coursed up his arm unlike anything he had ever experienced before, not even in the most violent of duels. His vision was clouding and he felt himself begin to lose consciousness.

Then, as soon as it had begun, the pain vanished. In its place was a comforting warmth. His legs no longer felt weak, nor did his arm feel sore. His eyes were still wet with tears but it was as if nothing had ever happened. He no longer sensed challenge from the wand. It was something else. A cautious curiosity? Discernment? He was not yet its master but it was a start.

Wand Characteristics
Wood - Silver Lime
Tilia tomentosa, or Silver Lime, is a particularly attractive wood desired not only for its appearance, but its reputation for performing best for those with powerful minds and the gift of Legilimency. It is no surprise then that this particular wood was chosen by Cassius’ forebears who are said to have inherited a talent for Legilimency from a Brigantian druid in the 1st century AD. Cassius, like his ancestors before him, hopes to develop this skill and become a powerful Legilimens in his own right. 85 / 50
Core - Rougarou Hair
The Rougarou hair for this wand was sourced from the swamps of French Louisiana in the early 18th century AD by the artifact and creature hunter, Augustus Eden. Beyond the prestige of being one of the first to successfully hunt a Rougarou, legends said the hair had an affinity for detecting Dark magic and objects in addition to raw power – a more than fitting core for Cassius, the duellist and future artifact hunter. Further, the users of Rougarou hair wands are said to be good at keeping secrets and the Eden family has secrets in droves. 96 / 50
Length - 13.7 in. / 34.80 cm
Triskaidekaphobic individuals might loathe a wand 13 inches in length, but coupled with the lucky number 7 it makes for a curious contradiction much like its owner. Cassius must discover how to balance his belief in pure-blood supremacy while making friends and allies with those who might oppose such a future. A younger, more reticent Cassius might have been better paired with a shorter wand, but now that he had begun to come into his own and mature, a more lively and dramatic wand makes for a fitting match. 89 / 50
Flexibility - Unyielding
Attuned to the debonair personality of its original owner, this wand is unyielding in its preferences making its user adapt to it rather than the opposite. The impact this will have on Cassius will be curious as it is very possible he might find his personality begin to change to better fit those qualities associated with the debonair. Confident. Stylish. Charming. 61 / 50

Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it): Lily had been born a muggleborn and she had always wondered why weird things happened whenever she had a strong emotion. Who when she got the letter to join Hogwarts, she accepted it happily. Her first year at Hogwarts was very...eventful. She learned she had a cousin, Colin McCoire, and that he and his brother were attacked by werewolves. This made Lily want to learn to protect herself. This was the start of her ambition on learning more advanced Defense Against the Dark Arts spells. But then her second month in her first school year she battled the dark arts and fought for her life at the Fairietale Endings ball. A hag doll tried to take Lily's life to make her own real. At that point Lily wanted to learn more than ever to keep herself and her muggle family safe. When she came home for the summer, she spent a lot of time in her room, reading about second year spells. However, when her parents passed in a car crash Lily put a pause on studying as she went to the funeral and got herself acclimated to her new family, the McCoire's.
When she went to her second year in Hogwarts, she picked her studying back up. After her classes, she spent a lot of time in the library reading, studying, and taking nnotes on third year spells. Her adoptive family barely saw her in Hogwarts. She spent some tine with Colin, Liam, Ci, and Lorcan but not a lot as she was more focused on her studying. Finally after a lot of studying, Lily started to practise the spells in the classroom when no one was there. She spent hours trying each spell and studying what she may or may not have done correctly. Eventually after weeks and months of studying, practicing, and taking notes Lily was learning third year spells. Her willingness to learn was to protect her family that she has now. Colin and Lily were just processing the loss of her parents, the return of Liam and the mystery of why these werewolves were targeting Liam. Which was why Lily applied for Prodigal Defense Against the Dark Arts. She needed to know difficult spells, spells that would protect her and her brothers when they went to fight tbis new development in their life. To fight against the Dark Arts and Lily wanted to know spells that would help her win and protect.

Sereia quickly learned in the last three years that there's no point breaking down barriers so high if they will just leave your knuckles raw. While she understood that her house environment still wasn't a safe one, she wanted to be a safe space for others. This quickly led to her being ‘the mom of the friend group’ and ‘the therapist friend’, both titles that stemmed from her want to be an anchor during people's rocky voyages.

A specific example would be at the crisp hour of midnight a few days before Sereia’s fourteenth birthday, a knock came at her windowsill. While she was still awake texting friends on her phone, confusion rained down on her as she contemplated her choices. Who was knocking at her window at midnight?

After some deliberation, she got up from her bed, blanket still wrapped around her shoulders, and peeked outside.

If there was one friend Sereia made for life while she was at school, it was another half-blood Wellingtonian named Eric Zhiyong Yang. When Sereia returned home one day, a familiar face ran into her and knocked them onto the pavement. Not the best way to meet who would later be your future boyfriend, but the two laughed it off, did the Spiderman pointing meme at the realisation they’d seen each other before, and exchanged numbers.

Her irritation dissipated as she opened the window and hissed at Eric. “What are you doing?”

Dressed in what was probably his pyjamas and a puffer jacket to shield him from the biting winds, Eric said, “Sereia, do a reading for me.”

“It’s the middle of the night.”

“Please?” It was weird to see Eric pleading. Sereia knew him as the ray of sunshine that always smiled and looked to have no worries. “I can’t sleep.”

“And you thought to come to my house?”

Eric shrugged. “We’re neighbours.”

Sereia could only chuckle as she opened the window some more. “Get in before you fall.”

She shut the window once he scrambled inside and turned up the heater to make up for the lost heat. Sereia tip-toed around her room to find the tarot cards she kept from her father. It was his Rider-Waite deck she was using to learn tarot with.

Bringing it close to her lips and visualising the negative energy seeping out of the cards with a breath, she turned to Eric and sat with him on the floor. As she shuffled the cards, she told him, “Think of a question.”

Eric nodded. “Okay, how will I know if potioneering is right for me?”

Sereia paused to consider the question. Normally, she worked with a three-card spread since nobody told her the questions they asked. “You didn’t have to say it out loud.”

“I don’t mind saying it out loud.” He shrugged. “You’re not judging me, right?”

The jab was playful; he raised an eyebrow and smirked as Sereia resumed her shuffling. She chuckled and shook her head. It surprised her how quickly Eric said it and without hesitation. But it was nice to know he felt safe in her presence to ask such a personal question. “Nah, you’re all good.”

Six cards flew out and Sereia hummed as placed them in a triangle. She felt the meanings at the tip of her fingertips.

“That’s a lot of cards.”

Sereia looked up at Eric to find him leaning against the side of her bed, legs sprawled out as he eyed her work curiously. It was weird to see him so relaxed and calm; this was the first time they’d been in such an intimate space. Sure, they sat beside each other on the bus whenever they hung out in the city and also sat next to each other whenever they visited their favourite dessert place rather than across from each other. But Eric being in her room without being nervous? Unprecedented.

It was only when Eric raised his eyebrow in questioning that Sereia realised she was staring. She cleared her throat. “It suits your question.”

She smiled. “Anyways, looks like this is only a good career in the short-term. The Two of Swords here solidifies your concern that maybe this isn’t right for you. The Six of Wands and The Hanged Man together means you like this-” She held the two cards between her fingers behind one another- “And you like the prospects, but everything else in this spread is saying it’s not worth it. You’ll get tired of it.”

A pause and a sigh from Eric as Sereia stared at the cards, searching for more meanings. “Well, that sucks,” Eric said.

“Mhm.”

Eventually, her thoughts came to a dead end and she took the cards back into the deck. As she tidied up the cards, Eric hummed. She hummed in response, though they weren’t humming to the same song or anything. It was a recognition of each other’s presence. When she looked up from the cards and at Eric’s face, her face turned hot from his smile. At least it was dark; he wouldn’t see how red her face was.

With a sigh, Sereia said, “I’m sure it’ll turn out okay in the end, though.”

Eric nodded. “Yeah. As long as you’re there, I think I could eat the world.”

Sereia was confused by the phrase. Eat the world? An ambitious feat, and probably an impossible one. But perhaps that was exactly what Eric meant. She was his motivation to do the impossible; she kept him calm even during the most turbulent of tempests. Or maybe that was just her thirteen-nearly-fourteen-year-old brain being delusional.

Dark arts, defense against the dark arts.

Attracted to one, propelled to both.

Part of Avenair’s sometimes occurring duality was her mingled emotions towards her interests. She was naturally inclined towards “darkness” and “death”, but was somehow also eager to learn how to Defend against them. Maybe this was natural, maybe this was not. But one thing’s for sure: what happened that day at the little graveyard was undeniable.

On this chilling November night near her tenth birthday, Avenair Quail is yet again to be found in the church graveyard. She felt that this could bring her closer to ghosts and perhaps communicate with them. She had never succeeded, but sometimes she thought she might have heard a whisper in the wind.

She was calling and sometimes whispering “Hello!” to graves, bidding usual greetings, and talking about what happened lately. To her hundredth disappointment, nobody answered. She was not keen on going back home, either, not with her father absent and her mother active.

She sat down next to a gravestone (“Mark Rorrington 4th, died to a tragic incident involving dogs and a thrown slipper”) with her face in her hands, trying to pass the time. She thought about superheroes and what it meant to be one, the responsibility and the pressure. Then her mind wandered to a tiny sample of all the things her terrible luck had granted her. Finally, she got bored after going through all the three proofs for the Pythagoras Theorem she had invented. She got up to leave(not before saying goodbye to the graves), but soon heard footsteps and voices hurrying towards her.

By the sound of it, two people were arguing feverishly about a will. ‘Must be a dead relative.’ She thought. As the duo came into view, Avenair used her natural athleticism and scaled a tree behind her – the same one that perched the ravens who gifted her a flight feather.

There was a skirmish, and then a full-on one-against-one. And, not entirely to her shock, a man was shot dead. The other quickly ran off. Even though she had seen quite a few deaths in her life via unnatural unluckiness, there was just something very unnerving about someone being shot dead in a church graveyard, right beneath the Lord’s nose.

That image of the dead man lingered in Avenair’s mind ever since.

She thought that the Wizarding World was more peaceful than the Muggle one, after receiving her letter. Turns out she was very, very wrong, and later, after a thorough analysis of all the Defense Against the Dark Arts information borrowed from older students she could find, the men she saw fight in the graveyard were fighting with wands, and the one that died actually perished to an accident involving the Cruciatus Curse. His killer was chucked into Azkaban two weeks later under headline news.

Justice has been served, but only for one.

There will be more unrighteousness in the future, and Avenair Quail promised herself to be ready when they come. Firstly, however, she will have to learn and enhance her DADA knowledge. The older students were apparently very glad she was buying their notes and books, and some even offered for free. Nevertheless, after had work and dedication, Avenair felt her DADA skills far beyond her initial guess.

Matthew was a quiet soul, growing up the way he did he was always acutely aware of the struggles that people around him faced and he could never look at someone suffering without a sinking feeling in his chest. It was ironic really, that someone so bad at talking to people, was able to calm them down.

He had an uncanny ability to see people beyond what they presented in the world and this was what he believed calmed them. Like when he would meet someone in pain he could put them at ease just by sitting with them a while. It was as if there was an aura that surrounded the boy and all within it could let their guard down for a brief moment. He was the calm in a raging storm.

Thinking back he supposed it started, when he only little. Many nights of his childhood were spent nuzzling his way into his father's arms to stop him crying. Now that he was older he often blamed himself for his mother's death but he knew his father never did, those nights curled up on the couch he would look up into his father's eyes and he could see the pain wash away as he scooped him up into a hug. Matthew supposed that's all people need sometimes, a person that's there for you at your worst and just stays with you, often talking got in the way, there was misinterpretation in words but actions were simple. Sometimes all it took to calm someone was to let them know they weren't alone.

It wasn't until Matthew learned about what his mother used to do that he truly understood the gift she had bestowed on him. Holly Campbell had been a nurse and a damn good one at that. She would sit for hours talking to her patients, making them feel seen and encouraging them to keep pushing forward. It filled him with a pride to be like his mother, and he knew that if her gift really did live on in him then he would do everything to make the most of it. Holly may have died the day he was born but her spirit would live on inside him.

He had been told often growing up that he had her spirit and he wondered now if that was what they meant, if she too was able to comfort and calm those around her simply by being there. Whether it was a shoulder to cry on, a joke to ease the tension or something as simple as listening he would be there for everyone he could. That, was a legacy to be proud of, how he could make amends for the life he took.

Name of Ability or Race/Talent that you Are Applying for: Prodigal Transfiguration Learner

Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):

Ever since I was little, I got to see all there was about magic. I would either help my mom with her potions by gathering ingredients she needed or help stirring the potion and when I was with my dad, he would tell me all I needed to know and teach me spells even though I hadn't developed my magical abilities or gotten a wand yet but there was one form of magic that caught my attention from the very beginning that was the transfiguration. I found it fascinating how you could change an object into something else, and that passion never faded as I grew. My mom would get me books on magic, and I'd find myself spending countless hours reading all about transfiguration. My dad would show me all the different things you could do with transfiguration. I was told I would soak up all the knowledge like a sponge and knew transfiguration was what I enjoyed the most. When I developed my abilities, my dad would teach me more about magic before I eventually went to Hogwarts and learned more. when I got my acceptance letter that's when I got more excited since I would be getting to learn more on transfiguration and even how to cast the spells which I could get right in just a few tries. I would spend time outside of the class in the library reading up on more transfiguration spells and what they did which made my interest in the subject grow even more I would also stay after class when I got to and just talk to the professor about the subject and I would keep gaining more knowledge and my fascination and passion for transfiguration continued to grow. My favorite subject of all time at Hogwarts was transfiguration and I knew I could learn about it all day and never get tired of it I knew that was the kind of magic I was meant to do so I wanted to fill up with all the knowledge I could at my time there learning about it while making sure not to neglect my other classes. I'd always help out the teacher with whatever he needed and I would tutor other kids on how to do the spells we had been learning since it gave me great pride to be able to help others while also being able to grow my skill in transfiguration.

Blaise had always said that Danielle had gotten the good genes from their mother Amélie, and father William. Her skin was smooth and practically glowed in the sunlight. Her blonde locks were always perfect, rarely a sign of dead or split ends. Her eyes were gorgeous pools of blue with flecks of gold, almost like the sunlight glittering on the ocean. Growing up, Danielle wondered why other girls and boys her age stared at her while at the muggle park, their eyes being torn away by mothers who told them it was rude to stare, yet still glanced in her direction every few seconds.

With the feeling of eyes on her at all times from her seemingly unnatural beauty, came the need to get used to feeling eyes and stares on her. At first, Danielle hated the feeling of multiple eyes on her, either envious or awestruck as she walked by, yet as she got older, she grew more confident in herself, accepting the stares. She learned to revel in it, strutting instead of shrinking back. Her eyes fixed straight ahead of her in confidence and poise instead of locking them on the ground in a timid manner.

As mentioned before, many of the other children at the park often stared at her as she played or walked around in the grass, picking the dandelions and flowers, her fingers weaving intricate crowns. On multiple occasions, a younger boy would walk up to her, telling her how pretty she was, and as little boys do, ask random girls to be their 'girlfriends'. Little Danielle would simply giggle and thank the young boy, before declining his offer to become his 'boyfriend', leaving the poor kid to run back to his mother with tears in his eyes. Other little girls would hate her, envy and jealousy filling their emotions as their stupid little playground crush's attention was quickly being stolen by some random girl. That's how it had been throughout the years leading up to Hogwarts. Other girls had wanted to be her, while the boys had wanted to be with her.

Most of the time, Danielle didn't care and was quite oblivious to it for the longest time. She didn't understand. She didn't understand why the eyes were on her. Why did she get the attention? She didn't understand until one day after she came back from the park. She went up to her room, looking at her reflection in the floor-length mirror. She had heard some much older girls complaining about certain features that they had on her way back from the park one day. As she continued to stare at herself in the mirror, she looked at her nose. She looked at her face, her skin, her hair, all of it, yet no matter how hard she looked at her reflection in the mirror, she couldn't understand what the older girls had been talking about. She was just that pretty.
