Interacting with Team White, RPing as Alisa Sokolova
She'd done it! For the first time in the match Alisa had both concentrated enough to manage a flawless spell-cast and aimed well enough so her opponent – she should figure out her name after this duel, Hogwarts girl really was a rather bland nickname – got knocked clean off her feet by the Russian's Knockback Jinx. The rest of her team, again, did do pretty good also, and she wanted to keep the momentum going.

Maksim was even sheering her on, and while on one side it immensely annoyed Alisa, on the other it made her feel kind... fond of the boy? He was weirdly outspoken and had a demeanor she couldn't relate to at all, but her was on her side. That was a first.

Alisa waved at Milena for a second, grinning, hoping she had seen her hit the olther girl!

"What I'll carry is your ass to the infirmary if we lose this duel because you're not paying attention!" she hissed back at her classmate in Russian. Why couldn't he be more like Mondolez or the Hogwarts guy with the strange armor and the excellent duelling skills? "We haven't won anything yet, keep your head in the game M-"

She swallowed his name down before she could say it, but the abrupt ending to her sentence sounded wrong even to her own ears. If she had any luck he wouldn't notice, though.

Well, it was definitely an improvement. Adam looked at the one square full of bubbles that he'd managed to conjure and tried to stay on the "glass half-full" side of things. His last attempt at the charm had completely backfired, after all — pretty much anything was better than a repeat of that. Adam allowed a self-satisfied smile before he had to examine the damage done to his team.

They were taking more hits, sure, but they were all still conscious. That was a good thing. Adam watched the other team interact with each other and wondered if that was the secret to their relative success. His team wasn't talking to each other very much; they would check in briefly to coordinate spells, but that was mostly a nod, a gesture, or a few short words. If they started talking more, there was a chance they'd work better.

Then again....looking over at Alexx and the boy from Durmstrang, Adam knew that he'd never be able to work up the courage to suggest such a thing. He was better at following directions than giving them anyway. Adam kept his mouth shut and returned his attention to the other side of the board, where it needed to be.

Alexx was straight up not having a good time. She tries to stand up, she gets hit in the chest. Way to, quite literally, kick her when she's down. But despite this, she stood up still, although she definitely didn't feel great. While Alexx wasn't going to let that deter her progress, assuming she would make any at any point, she was losing hope for herself. Her ego was... Slightly more than bruised. Alexx was one to throw herself into anything and everything just to experience it, not necessarily thinking her ass might get kicked. And consider her ass kicked; she was exhausted. After this, she would need a nice, long nap. And probably a meal too, just for good measure. One thing was for sure: she wouldn't be looking these people in the eye anytime soon.

After staggering her way up, she shook her head a little bit, trying to shake off the bad vibes and stop her vision from blurring. A sigh escaped her, and she popped her neck as well. She didn't want to delay her next move too much, because she was going to need to do something eventually, but duels didn't leave much room to compose yourself. Then again, neither did quidditch, but Alexx rarely got her ass whooped while flying. She decided quickly that she was swearing off of dueling after this.

Round Five
10th of July 2020, around 02:00pm

Zahid could not help but stare at the scene in surprise. Misses Séverin and Quinn were doing something almost akin to a dance on the spot to avoid any spells coming there way – only there were none. Only two spells were cast and both by the Queens and with enough force they both knocked each other down, Mr. Mondelez also knocked back far enough to block Miss Sokolova moving a square to her left, as he was suddenly occupying that space. Misters Harrington, Hart and Preobrazhensky as well as Miss Teague were all unimpeded in moving to another cell while Miss Campbell was free to stand up and to join back into the fray. Less a game of Chess, this round, and more of a game of Queens it seemed.

Nichlas couldn't believe it when he was hit and knocked down, all the air being pressed from his lungs forcefully. His jaw tensed and his grip around his wand tightened as his eyes locked onto Kheanu ferociously. He would have to pay for that and if it was the last thing he did in this stupid game. This just got personal and he would not let this happen again. He would take Kheanu down and win this. He couldn't believe the shape his team was in, weren't Hogwarts supposedly one of the best wizarding schools? The boy who lived had been to this school after all even though that all went down the drain after that golden boy went crazy. Yet, still, he had expected better from his team which looked beat up as if they were toddlers fighting. "Come on get your sh*t together," he would reprimand the team he was sorted to, his Swedish accent even thicker now that he was frustrated and mad.

rping as iNPC Maksim Preobrazhensky [x]
primarily interacting with Team White, specifically Alisa Sokolova (@Edric Banes) and the Queen himself, Kheanu Mondelez (@Dmitri Jones).
If dialogue is in italics, Maksim is speaking in Russian.
Maksim paled (although it was hardly noticeable, given his complexion) as he processed Sokolova's words, but still, he offered her a gentle smile. "I'll hold you to that!" he called back to her with a chipper tone, "But I don't think I'll need to." But still, he heeded her words and turned his focus back to the board laid out in front of him. He needed to stay safe, to protect his team, to win...

And yet, despite his whole goal of paying attention, he watched with his mouth hanging open as Kheanu got hit square on with a knockback jinx. At least it wasn't fire this time, he thought bitterly, but still an anguished cry leapt from Maksim's throat. "Kheanu!" he yelled, resisting the urge to run over to the boy. "Ah... no, this is all my fault! Kheanu, are you alright?!" His hand clenched and unclenched as he wondered if he should just finish Nichlas off with a killing curse right then and there. How dare he attack Kheanu like that! Internally, he was still kicking himself for not, at the very least, diving in front of the spell to protect their queen. "Please, Mondelez... please, God, let him be okay," he muttered under his breath.

Interacting with @Ami Procoppio as Maksim, and with the rest of Team White
Kheanu was so preoccupied, smirking at how his single Flipendo seemed to have made quite an impact on his opponent Queen that he forgot to adjust his stance to deal with the incoming spell his opponent seemed to have managed to cast before getting knocked down. The wayward Flipendo hit him square in the chest, and although it did not seem to feel that powerful, the force of the spell, and his own weak stance—something Kheanu should be greatly ashamed about as a Foil fencer—caused him to trip on his own feet, stumbling backward on his rump none-too-gracefully.

Kheanu cursed himself for his narrow, too-tall, imbalanced stance, something that spoke of an arrogance that he allowed to affect his performance. What would father and mother say when they see that? He also couldn't help but roll his eyes at the coddling, meddling, condescending tone he seemed to hear from Maksim's genuine concern. "Preobrazhensky, you act as if it was anything more than a mosquito bite—I can handle myself." The long-haired blonde sighed as he tried to stand, brushing off the seat of his pants. "It was a personal error I will take care not to 'ave in the future." He would shoot a wink at the boy, before remarking, "And please, speak English when you address me. I cannot possibly 'ave a scathing remark at the ready if you won't."

Interacting with Team Black
𝓢hook from the last round still, Amadea scrambled to get back on her feet in order to be able to participate in the next round. The power of the other girl's Flipendo had knocked her straight onto her back and Amadea had to take a second to make sure that she hadn't injured herself. Had she been much older, Amadea knew that it would have thrown out her back to have hit the ground so forcefully, but because she was still quite young and nimble, Amadea was fine.

As she stood up and looked around, she tried to assess how the team was doing. She had to admit, it wasn't looking too hot for them, which was quite unfortunate. However, she knew that bigger comebacks had been made before and that thinking negatively would only result in more negative outcomes. She steadied herself for the next round, praying to all the gods and fates that luck would be thrown their way for the next round.

Hearing her teammates conversation, Dymphna tried to keep focused and not turn her back to check on them so close to the opposing team. “Everyone alright?” The concern was evident in her voice. Her earlier ambivalence was gone and replaced with worry now that they were so close to victory. They couldn’t lose now.

”Oliver?” He was somewhere behind her with the others. They were somewhat friends now, both being Ravenclaw Keepers. He was one of the best in his year for defensive spells, or so she thought anyway. He had even tutored her once. It was only right to check on him.

”C’mon, let’s finish it!”
