Kayla Slattery’s life started in the town of Galway was a blend of the magic and the muggle world. Growing up in a cozy cottage nestled on the outskirts of the town, she felt equally at home with the magical creatures that roamed the forests as she did with the historical artifacts her father carefully preserved at his museum job. Her parents helped her gain a deep love for knowledge and exploration of both worlds.
Her father, Ethan Slattery, a Muggle Museum Curator, spent his days cataloging and studying ancient relics, focusing on medieval weaponry and ancient manuscripts. Kayla often found herself fascinated with the stories behind each artifact, excited to learn more about the past and the people. He would take her to museums and galleries, pointing out the details in paintings or explaining the significance of the culture and history behind everything. Occasionally, he'd mention if magic was involved; but without confirmation from his wife, he tried to keep those assumption minimal.
Her mother, Tess Slattery, was a wizard and a skilled potion maker who ran a small but successful potion business. Although Kayla was curious about the skills put towards potion-making, her mother kept her at a distance, preferring that her she experience the safer side of the magical world; believing that magic could be dangerous if it was not approached with respect and careful attention. Mostly, she wanted to protect Kayla from the risks that came with experimenting with powerful concoctions. Still, Kayla was often peering over her mother’s shoulder as Tess worked on her potions and flipping through potion books even if they were too advanced for her to even understand.

Kayla's first instant of magic occurred at a museum at age 8. While she was looking at the enclosed display of an book, she read down to the bottom and suddenly the page folded over to the next passage. The book was enclosed in a glass box and no wind could have turned it for her, she was perplexed until she spoke with her parents that dinner. Her mother was thrilled that she inherited her magic abilities; while her father was more concerned about the fragile book.

Character Backstory: Some of Graci's favourite things were maps, candles, rain, sourdough bread, and her twin sister Zoe. Not necessarily in that order. The actual order was something more like this:
-Zoe
-Making maps (with Zoe)
-and sourdough bread, candles, and rain. Tied for third.
That was, none of those really mattered to her other than Zoe. She was life. No sarcasm, no over complicating it. They were inseparable but could live without each other. Though life had much more luster together.
Hobbies:
-She has a secret passion for poetry but brushes it off as a mere hobby. She is in the midst of writing 'Icarus was not the poet, but the poetry'.
-Map making: She often does this with her sister, Zoe. Sometimes she gets frustrated because Zoe has a photographic memory and she, sadly, does not, so her maps look worse when compared to Zoe's.
-Making candles: She has been infatuated with making candles ever since she saw a video when she was about nine and a half. She's been experimenting with coloured crayons of late.
-Making Sourdough: She has very recently got her father on board with making a sourdough starter. Updates eventually.
Reading: Graci and Zoe both love reading. From fantasy to realistic fiction, they read everything. The two of them have been known to pull all-nighters reading. One time Graci read a 6 book series in a week.
She has some muggle friends, Makayli, and Lindin, whom she met at muggle school. And then Alia, a friend she met one summer in Greece.
After school she, Makayli, Lindin, and occasionally Zoe would spend hours playing games and doing homework, though the homework was far less enjoyable.
Her family is slightly odd if nothing else. With her tan brown haired mother and her pale freckled red haired father. They are all very learning oriented people which is rarer these days.
Usually Zoe and Graci (when out with the parent who looks the least like them) get asked if they are actually related, which has caused some issues before (that we won't be getting into).
Her mother is a muggle and her father is a wizard, so Graci has both muggle ties as well as wizarding ones.
In muggle school Graci's favourite subjects were history and language arts.
Graci is very close to her Papou (Grandfather) and often calls him with her mum. Her family visits her Papou and Yiayia (Grandmother) in Greece each year for summer break.
Graci is closer to her mother than Father but still loves to play card and board games with him.
Graci and Zoe had been kicked out of one of their old schools because of Zoe's shenanigans, which might have resulted in a fire.
Graci's father is a pure blood but thinks that it isn't right to look down upon people just because of their blood, if they are a wizard/witch then that is what they are.
Graci and Zoe had a good, sheltered childhood.
Fun fact: Graci and Zoe's birthday is ten days before Greek independence day.
Lives in London England with her parents, and twin sister, Zoe. Her mother's father was born in Greece and so Graci and her mom take after Graci's Papou (Grandfather). Zoe and their father look more alike, with their red hair. Her mom is a stay at home, and her dad has a bookstore. Graci's favourite colour is green and her favourite animals are owls and doves. She is currently in a Greek mythology phase. She plays the lyre (Of her Papou's urging) and occasionally the trumpet when she had time between school and family time.

First Instance of Magic: The Larens have multiple cats and all of them very precious to Zoe and Graci. Graci's favourite cat had been lost for the better part of the day and they had been searching for a while. They happened upon it in a neighbor's tree. Graci's six year old self was on the verge of a tantrum and telling her that she would have to wait even longer did not bode well for her. Everything was kind of a blur for her, a blur of annoyance and anger (6 year old emotions and the like). She proceeded to have a fit and consequentially levitated the cat out of the tree. Her mother saw it and knew that they wouldn't have a squib for a daughter.

Hi, welcome to the site! Before we can accept your app please make the following changes:
1. In your encyclopedia please make a separate post for your trunk as detailed in viewtopic.php?t=6532#p104026. This should have your stats, as well as sections for spells, abilities, and potions.
2. While the information in your backstory is interesting, can you also please include some of the family history information that you have inside of your encyclopedia? There is a lot of good info there about her family and life before Hogwarts that would be very useful here! You could even copy the bits about her family over directly. One thing to add - it mentions her having muggle friends, and her profile mentions her being a half blood, but the background in the encyclopedia doesn't mention her ties to the muggle world - which of her parents has muggle ties?
STATUS: Pending, Jake, December 31, 2024
Your trunk is good now, thank you! For your backstory, it still has a lot of focus on her hobbies/interests, but should be a bit more describing her life story before Hogwarts. Things like her hobbies is very good character detail, but for the backstory we want to know more about her life and how she grew up and her family, things like that. The hobby information can remain, but can we have at least 220 words on the backstory itself? You mention she has both muggle and wizarding ties so perhaps you could elaborate a bit on that?
STATUS: Pending, Jake, January 22, 2024
Thank you for your added bits of backstory! This is much better now - Can you just do one more thing for us before we accept? You still have some backstory in your encyclopedia that isn't present in your app (for example your father owning a book store, your mother being a stay-at-home mom). In general you should try to have the backstory from your encyclopedia in your app as well. Can you just add that missing bit of information? It's almost ready to go - I'm so sorry for how long this process has been but we can get you indexed very soon!

Parseltongue and snake
Spoken
French
Serpent's tongue. An ability and trait long passed down through Theodora's father’s family, one they are proud of, to the point of using it quite often at home with one another. The trait appears to have come into the family in the twelfth century, when one of Theodora's ancestors married a Greek witch he met on a trip through Europe. Ever since their union, the Parlows have been born with and enjoyed the ability to speak to serpents, resulting in children of the family occasionally bringing snakes into the house from the gardens.
Theodora was and is no exception, in her youth as she'd help with her mother's roses she'd find a snake and have a chat with it. The first time this happened was when the girl was five and sitting in the garden with her mother, she happened to notice something under the bushes, it was tan with black speckles of black, and upon closer inspection, it was a small Grass Snake. Being five, Theodora reached out and spoke to it, unknown to her she had slipped into Parseltongue, “Hello there friend!” She grabbed a hold of the small reptile and held it up, not expecting it to speak back to her, “Friend. No harm to you.” Theodora hadn't expected the small thing to speak back, she blinked in slight shock before giggling, and allowing the beast to wrap around her wrist and hand, “Do you have a name?” It was then that familiar voice of her mother called out to her, “Theodora, what are you doing child? What do you have there?” Before she could hide her new found friend from the woman, her mother saw the reptile and shrieked and shouted, pulling out her wand, “Lucian! Come now!” It wasn't long before her father and grandmother came rushing out of the house with their wands ready, “what is it?!” Theodora's mother, pale, only pointed to Theo, “S-S-Snake,” it was the only word she got out before Lucian Parlow turned to his daughter and saw the small creature, at first concerned, then assessing, searching her for bites or possible blood, when he saw that there were none, a look of pride, and a smirk, formed on his face. He knelt in front of his daughter and her new found friend, “Did you make a new friend, my child?”
Theodora smiled and nodded quickly, “Yes and he talks back Father!”
A small bemused chuckle came from her father, a sound she was unused too, and patted her head, “You will find all snakes can talk, but you must promise that you will only talk to them when we don't have any company. Some are ignorant to the wonderful conversationalist that snakes make. So go on and play with your new friend, put him down near the pond when you're done.”
With that Theodora gave a nod and ran off into the gardens to play. Theodora would go on to spend time during the summers with the Grass Snake, which she had named Admetus.

Character Backstory:
Reducio
Born in late May of the year 2013, Theodora was the first, and for a while the only, child of Lucian Parlow and Lisette Parlow neé Seyrès, both from old pureblood families. Her young life was mostly that of any wealthy pureblood child, she was homeschooled by private tutors in mathematics, reading and writing in English, French, and Latin, etiquette, and how to play piano. Another main part of her education, not officially of course, was the concept of blood purity and why purebloods like her are better in all ways to those of half blood or less. When not in her studies, Theo was normally found in one of two places, the library reading with her grandmother or the gardens tending to roses with her mother. However, it was in the library where her first instance of magic happened, she was six years old and told she needed to go to bed, she threw a tantrum and ended up causing one of the bookshelves to fall over.
A major part of her young life was the many parties, soirees, and balls her parents would host for the Pureblood elite, such things she'd be expected to attend and make a good showing for her family. After her younger brother, Mathias, was born, she began to feel more of a background character within her own home, the now six year old boy is seen as heir to everything the family holds dear, and Theodora a pawn for one eventual causality. To deal with emotions from this, Theodora has taken to journaling her thoughts and feelings on events around her, and becoming quite reserved and introverted when around new people.
When she was nine, she witnessed her father perform what he called “a lesson in power,” a servant boy had dropped a crystal decanter during dinner, which shattered and stained the rug with the red wine within, her father made her watch as he “reminded the riff raff where they belong,” and that “it was the proper place for a filthy Mudblood” by using dark magic on the poor boy. He then had her family's house-elf, Zalpy, clean up “the mess” which included the servant on the floor. It was after this event that Theodora began to truly fear her parents, and any possible retribution they might have for her if she were to step out of line and thus she tried to be the perfect daughter that had hoped she'd be.
Now that she is a first year at Hogwarts she feels a bit more free but still ever paranoid that her parents have children of family friends spying on her and reporting back to them.

1. Your application for Parseltongue is still 486 words. Special race/talent application must be 500 words minimum.
2. You can't make any NPC for your character to cast the spell that isn't in your trunk (in your case it the cruciatus curse). And regarding our site rating, any torture must be kept to a minimum and must be extremely non-descriptive. The depiction of torture is an uncomfortable subject.

Born in South Korea, Norena moved to England at the age of three. She lives in a wealthy Korean family and had a pleasant childhood. She is pure-blooded, and her father has a lot of time for her. From his birth until he was three years old, he took a break from work to enjoy his time with her, and when they immigrated to England for the parents' work, his father continued to work but close to home.
Norena is really smart and already speaks Korean, because of her childhood and background. Her parents did find a private wizard tutor to teach her the Muggle base even though she was pureblood, and she also learned English very well, until she spoke the language fluently at the age of nine.
Her parents have always cherished her and she lived a dream childhood, so that she is quite haughty and looks down on the people of Hogwarts, but without it being too visible. She spent her childhood in a mansion with the best food, the best clothes and a lot of other great things, so it's sure that she didn't have the same life as everyone else.
To add to that, Norena's pureblood family is quite anti-Muggle. But the young girl doesn't know where to stand in relation to the orientation of her family, so even though she is very haughty, she doesn't necessarily hate everyone.
Now she's eleven years old, and she received her letter for hogwarts, not mahoutokoro.

Norena was eight years old. She never had this kind of magical experience before and her parents were really looking forward to it. She was then in one of their vacation mansions, in South Korea. Norena was angry because she had inadvertently locked herself in her room and no one had seen or heard it, so she simply burned the room unintentionally by burning something that burned others and so on. But one of his maids smelled the smoke and saved him.

Character name (First and last name): Lottie Laurent
School Year or Adult Level: First year
Does any Profile Card info need changing? nope!

Character Special Race/Talent: N/A
Character Backstory: Charlotte (Lottie) Laurent was born on a warm, cloudy summer day in July 2013. She was the second-born child to her witch mother Chelsea and Muggle father Andy. Her parents loved her very much and from the second she was brought home to meet her sister, Olivia, they were inseparable. Her older sister was only two years older than Lottie. For the next ten months, Olivia dotted Lottie as if she were a living doll. Ten months after the birth of Lottie, the final sister was born into the family. Lottie and her new little sister, Katie, were very close. The two looked like twins and acted like it. The three sisters would remain very close. The Laurent family lived in the town of Crawley. Her mother was a stay-at-home mother with all three girls, and their father worked in the family’s small bookstore downtown. The family was very happy and they would spend each night sitting around the dinner table playing board games or talking about their day until bedtime.
Lottie and her sisters would attend the primary school in Crawley. Lottie and Katie were in the same class and the two were like peas in a pod. Katie would do all the talking, while Lottie played quietly in the back, only ever talking to her sister if she needed something. The teachers often tried to tell Chelsea and Andy that it may be helpful to move the sisters to different classes, but they always said that it was fine for the sisters to be together and that Lottie would grow out of her shyness when she was ready.
The three sisters would still hang out at recess and outside of school. When Olivia reached the age where most girls become too old for dolls she stopped dotting on Lottie and Katie as much, but the three remained close. Having a mother who was a witch, a Hufflepuff Alumni to be specific, there were always the chances that the Laurent girls would also become witches. Chelsea and Andy had agreed that when they had children Chelsea would stop using magic around those children. They had also agreed that they would tell their children about magic like any muggle would, through fairy tales. Since Andy didn’t have a drop of wizard blood in him, he had never experienced the magic world, so his stories were just regular muggle stores. But Chelsea always peppered her tales with tidbits of stories from her youth, stories from her own experiences. Should any of their children show magical capabilities, it would be Chelsea’s job to tell the child about what was happening, but only enough to help take the edge off the nerves.
First Instance of Magic:
On the first day of year 5, Lottie walked into her classroom as quietly as possible. She chose a seat in the furthest corner away from the teacher and the loud group of students. She sat with her bag on the desk and her face hidden behind it. Katie had been put in a different class from her, and this would be the first time in her life that she wouldn’t be able to have her sister speak for her. She was still pouting about it, and even though she had promised her mother she would try to have a good time, she was only focusing on the fact that she was alone.
As more students wandered in and took their seats, Lottie tried to be as hidden as possible and avoided eye contact with anyone and everyone. When the bell rang the teacher introduced himself and asked each student to say their name for attendance. As each student said their name, Lottie got more and more nervous, what if she messed up? What if she said her name weirdly? What if the class laughed?? When it became her turn, Lottie’s whole face went a deep red and her mouth got all dry.
‘What's your name, dear?” the teacher asked. Lottie figured it had to be pretty obvious, she was the only one who hadn’t said her name. She looked at the teacher and opened her mouth to speak. Instead of words, a loud gurgling sound came out. The entire class burst out laughing. Lottie’s face when even redder and all she could think was ‘Make it stop! Oh please make it stop!’ All of a sudden everyone was quiet. Lottie looked up and all the students were looking around super confused. It seemed like no one could make a sound! Lottie got up and ran from the classroom, confused and scared.

An meinem 11.

Character name: Eloise Shields (request for name change)
School Year or Adult Level: First Year
Character Backstory: The Shields family, for the most part, have always been a muggle one. No notes of magic whatsoever from Ned Shields or his side of the family, and as far as anyone was aware, neither from Taylor Shields (formerly Flynn). As such, when their daughter Eloise got her letter and explanation from Hogwarts staff it was a considerable shock to the family. Only Eloise had the slightest inkling that anything unusual had been taking place in the preceding months as she had begun experiencing some minor accidental magical effects.
What followed Eloise's letter was a long search back into family history, until Taylor finally found out about her own grandmother and the rumours of her abilities.
Far from showing any hesitation, the Shields family welcomed the news and wider understanding of their world by fully supporting their daughter on the beginning of this, her own journey.
Eloise, for her part, didn't really know what to think, as a fairly socially isolated eleven year old. She found the answers to why strange things were happening to her to be exciting, and yet felt a growing sense of dread at being in a new place, away from her family. With some considerable trepidation she now awaits the beginning of her time at Hogwarts, and hopes that things will not be too overwhelming.
First Instance of Magic: Having sneaked out early in the morning as Eloise had begun to do in recent weeks, she made her way over to Clonea beach where she enjoyed searching the rock-pools. Hoping and leaping across some of the larger rocks and cliffs in the dark Eloise got to a particularly high point before finally slipping. The fall was further than she had realised and she had failed to notice how high she had managed to climb, falling over 30ft into the rocky waters below. Under those waves and rocks she remained, and as the sun finally rose that morning (some 15 minutes later) she finally emerged from the sea unscathed and somehow entirely dry.
Not that anyone would believe her, but she knew that she should be dead, and that something very unusual had happened to her.

Eloise's family may seem even unto themselves to be entirely muggle, yet even they are now aware of the whispers of magic in the family past. None of the immediate family, however, have any inkling of how far that magical rabbit-hole goes. Several generations past the Eloise's maternal family were what could be known in muggle parlance as a coven. A collective of family witches who worked together in personal magical research and pursuits. All Hogwarts educated of course, but highly solitary, focusing primarily on herbology, potions and astrology. It is this last line, a form of divining through astrology, which made them unique as a family, being more adept than most at the art - their herbology worked to improve their potions which in turn was used to supplement their abilities to read the stars above and their own latent divination magics. Eventually, the family was driven out, not in some big last stand, but simply through the passing of time, more and more they were pulled away by love or wanderlust, and the coven passed out of all memory, the latent magical capacity passing out of family lore.
As for Eloise's paternal line, magic was almost entirely non-existent. The gene for the Seer trait simply passed into the family tree through a marriage between one of her great great ancestors and a traveling wizard from the north of England. Why he was there, and where he had come from are lost to history, but regardless, the Seer gene entered the paternal line here and remains to this day. In the weeks since her invitation to Hogwarts, Eloise's family have discovered details of this ancestor and begun to work through several theories. The most outlandish of which might simple be the wishful thinking of proud relatives but the more realistic of these base themselves in what little muggle evidence of his life that there is. Through their efforts they did manage to discover a marriage certificate of one Eleanor Durmot and one Eugene Shields. Through this the assumption has been made that Eugene was this wizard who then married the muggle Eleanor and they both resided in the north of England in later life, best guess placing them at South-Shields as several letters regarding finance had been sent from Eleanor from this town. While this is all very interesting, it is not something Eloise has any real interest in exploring at this age.
Regarding the trait itself, it would hardly even present at this age but as Eloise goes through Hogwarts it will begin to present as bad dreams at first, nothing too unusual, before later in her final few years by changing the pigment of her hair and developing into full strength Seer abilities, which she will have to come to respect for what they are and deal with the fear and stress that these visions may bring her. Merlin only knows it is going to be hard enough to pass her O.W.Ls as it is, before you add in the added visions.

Reason for Pending:
1. Is the "letter" mentioned in the backstory Hogwarts Acceptance letter? If so, please take note that the Hogwarts staff usually visits muggle-born students' families to bring the letter and explain to them that their kid is magical.
2. Your Seer application is still 361 words while an application for special talent must be 500 words minimum.
3. Some basic information about your character is missing in the Encyclopedia Page, like House, Age, and Species. You also haven't made the trunk post in your Encyclopedia Page. This post will guide you to make an Encyclopedia Page.
STATUS: Pending, Zach Zaphiere, 4 January
Reason for Pending:
1. You have to put spells and potion space in your trunk post. This post will guide you to make a trunk post.
2. You missed one aspect of statistics: accuracy. Please recalculate your statistics points including the one in your trunk post.

Pauline Waldrop, a Gryffindor through and through, carries a fiery spirit that burns as bright as her auburn hair. Her bravery shines through in every aspect of her life, making her a natural leader amongst her friends. She's the kind of person who will jump in front of a troll to protect her friends, and her loyalty to those she loves is unwavering. This devotion stems from a childhood filled with warmth and laughter, where family gatherings were always filled with boisterous games and stories that stretched into the night. Her family, a tight-knit group of witches and wizards, instilled in her a strong sense of community and a deep love for their magical heritage.
However, this deep love for her family is also her greatest weakness. The thought of losing them, whether through death or some unforeseen tragedy, fills her with a paralyzing fear. This fear is further compounded by her phobia of car crashes, a fear that stems from a traumatic experience in her early childhood. When she was just five years old, a car crash claimed the life of her beloved aunt, leaving a gaping hole in her family and a deep scar on Pauline's heart. Despite her courage, Pauline struggles to confront these fears, often pushing them down and pretending they don't exist.
Pauline's magical abilities are as diverse as her personality. She possesses a natural talent for Charms, her spells often imbued with a playful energy that delights her friends. Her talent for Transfiguration, however, is still developing, often resulting in comical mishaps that leave her with a sheepish grin. But despite her occasional fumbles, Pauline is determined to master all aspects of magic, driven by a desire to protect those she loves and make a difference in the world.

Character Backstory
ReducioA winter storm loomed heavy in the sky as the clock turned to the midnight hours of night. Day barely turned to the 14th as Arden Andromeda was born. Soon after resting in the arms of his father, Tophias Rosethorn. Aliisa Aaltonen didn't get to meet her child for long, soon succumbing to the embrace of death. Now only leaving her lover and infant child to return to his homeland, pressing the grief of her passing and her belongings away from sight as he devoted his time to raising his child.
Tophia’s family, the Rosethorn’s, were known as small yet very wealthy pureblood family. His older sister, Cecilia Rosethorn holding being the head of the family after his own parents passing just as he himself turned seventeen. Technically Cecilia was great as head of the family, social butterfly and with a sharp mind, but her passions rested among the study of magical creatures and not among the tedious paperwork required for the head of family.
Despite that, Cecilia promised to act as head of house and everything necessary for the position as Tophias raised his child. Tophias would be given the position as soon as he felt he was ready for the extra work, after that Cecilia would be free to go live her dreams of being a Magizoologist.
The Rosethorn family started gaining wealth in the 16th century for their studies of runes. Slowly amassing wealth and investments as decades passed by. Their heritage centered in the Nordic countries where they were mostly known, only starting to gain residences in England at the start of the 20th century. Slowly The Rosethorn family transferred to Great Britain, keeping most of their left behind properties as summer or winter homes. Though it took a bit longer for the family to transfer sending their children to Hogwarts, having send most Rosethorn children to Durmstrang or Koldovstoretz for their education.
The Rosethorn family is known for their start in the study of runes, their deep interest in history and the preservation of traditions. ‘Roots of a Rose, Time bestows’ is the family motto, it is meant to reflect how time gives maturity, wisdom and a chance for reflection on your own actions and on history.
Arden's childhood was rich in magic and wonder, supported by many tutors that their father arranged beside his own tutorings and teachings. Arden was thoroughly educated in fine arts and every subject that Tophias thought would help them later in life. Arden grew up adoring and looking up to their father, who always made sure to spend plenty of time with his child. Either doing quiet reading, taking them on traveling or just being around despite not doing anything special.
As Arden grew up, they started thinking about their mother. Knowing so little about her, they turned to their father, who gave a few pictures of her and a surface level explanation on who their mother had been to appease the curious child, yet didn't want to discuss the topic further. Arden noticing their father avoiding the topic, wanted to know even more now.
After months of time spent asking different questions and trying different approaches, Arden finally got their father to teach them Finnish. It wasn't the answers Arden was seeking for, but it was a new study for the curious child to immerse themself in that made them feel closer to their maternal roots.
On their 8th birthday, Tophias told Arden of one of the Rosethorn family’s own traditions. As a sign of learning to take care of something, children of a rosethorn would receive a magical companion. Tophias presented Arden with a small fluffy kneazle kitten, who Arden promptly named Victoria and adored the companion.
First Instance of Magic
ReducioOn a snowy day in one of the Finnish Rosethorn residences, an 8-year old Arden was carefully searching around the large and dusty attic. Their father was in his study, having left his so calm yet curious child alone due to having to answer a floo call. Young Arden had taken the opportunity to wander around and had found the old attic door had been left unlocked. Arden’s father had recently finally given up and promised Arden to teach them Finnish, so they could connect more with their mother. Arden upon seeing the wooden door of the attic, thought that there must be some keepsakes of their mother that their father had kept and if there were any then they must be stored in the manor. The attic was as good a place to start their search as any.
Watching their steps as not to trip on anything, Arden began looking around the attic. It was dusty and there were spiderwebs in the corners, but it still seemed quite organized. They could see some old trunks stacked on top of each other in the corner, a shelf with old vases that Arden made sure to be careful around. Arden’s favorite finds were portraits, they seemed quite old and had golden frames with intricate detailings. Unlike the several moving portraits that Arden had gotten used to, these ones were completely still. Arden carefully brushed their hand against one of the old frames, a beautiful portrait of a woman sitting in a magnificent green gown, petting a small white kitten. Arden admired the portrait for a moment longer, before moving again, in the moment not noticing as they stumbled right against a large wooden cabinet.
For a brief moment of confusion just looking at the cabinet, before their eyes widened as they noticed a object falling from the the top of the cabinet. Arden didn’t even have time to think as it fell down, closing their eyes as they braced for the sound of the object falling against the attic floor. But the moment never came, opening their eyes back up again, they noticed the object hovering just slightly above the floor where it should have crashed. As Arden took in the sight for a moment, the object gently lowered down to the floor. Arden spun their head around looking for their father, assuming that he had been the source of the magic. When it became apparent that their father was still not here and hadn’t discovered that Arden had sneaked up into the attic, Arden’s attention moved back to the object. At a closer look Arden could identify it as one of the old muggle devices, ‘a record player’, they think it was called? Their observation led them to find initials at the bottom of the device. ‘A,A’, Arden didn’t have too much time to think on it before they heard their father calling their name. Arden gently tried to lift the object, relieved to not find it that heavy as they placed it on the top of the cabinet. Swiftly moving through the attic and down the stairway that led up there, not wanting to make their father too worried.

ReducioThe story of Theophilus Cornelius Castellano starts many generations before his existence. His father, Cornelius Castellano, was the eldest of four sons born to Joseph and Agatha Castellano; he was born only 5 years before the second wizarding war started to parents who were born and lived a majority of their lives in the first one. Joseph led his family to be neutral in the world’s issues, hiding behind his pureblood name and money to skirt by the war just fine for many years. It wasn’t until his untimely death from a random killing that things for the family started to change.
Being the eldest, Cornelius would have been the heir for his family once he was of age, but for the first couple years after his father’s death, Agatha took over. She thrusted them into the spotlight in the efforts to clean up after the war, with charities and donations and galas springing up around her. She networked as Lady Castellano, not the pureblood widow she was.
Soon though, things started to get messy for the family, with money being a problem for the first time Agatha ever had to deal with, from then on the family was very close to many people on either side of the war's outcome.
Cornelius took over as the Castellano heir under his mother’s guidance, letting her plan every party, appearance, and meeting Cornelius showed up at. It wasn’t until the death of his youngest brother Elliot that things started to seem like they weren’t so perfect under his mother’s guidance. Cornelius and his remaining brothers, Zachery and Conrad, started to notice how many of the donations from their mother’s many charities never really went all in on the things they were fundraising for. The orphanages for misplaced muggleborns never did get all the money donated; just as the money raised for finding the reason Squibs are born into magical families never really made it all the way there.
Cornelius figured he would wait longer before saying anything to his mother, not wanting to embarrass her if she was only doing good for the family. That was until Conrad found the potions; vials upon vials of potions that were dark in his mother’s sitting room, hidden there. He had told his brothers that he thinks his mother is doing more than just putting some galleons in their vaults that were not for them. He wanted them to look for more things in their childhood home, something to tie back to their mother; for Conrad had married young and his bride was already in the home.
The brothers looked but couldn’t find anything. Soon the other two were married; Zachary to Rebekah, and Cornelius to Rostislava. They all stayed in the family home, much to their mother’s delight. Soon, babies filled the halls. Conrad having twins Freya and Sienna just months before Theophilus was conceived himself. Rostislava would sit with Agatha for hours learning English during her pregnancy, the other two women meeting up to watch the twins while they did.
It was in January of 2013 when news of Zacherys death hit the papers, alongside Conrad’s arrest. Multiple dark potions on his person as the Aurors took him away, the man in a state of shock that didn’t allow him to speak as the med-wizards tried to save his brother from a dark spell, but not being able to.
It didn’t take long for Zachery’s widow to move back to her parents home. Novalie, Conrad’s wife, soon left, too, though her whereabouts were lost in time. Theophilus was born in a rather empty house, never knowing the aunts or cousins he could have grown up with.
Living at his grandmother’s wasn’t so bad for the baby; his grandmother was loving, often singing to him and watching him as she worked in her sitting room. Cornelius mourned his brothers, both the fact he was never to see them again, and Zachery’s life completely. He didn’t believe Conrad could do such a thing; but what proof did he have for the opposite?
A year passed for them easily, Theophilus getting used to crawling then running through the halls of the Castellano Manor, as his mother grew bigger with his sister. The move from the manor was quick, only a couple of days between Theophilus resting in his antique crib then walking into his room in the middle of Russians wizarding world. The world will never know what caused Cornelius to move his family so urgently. However, Cornelius thought he could keep Theophilus from ever knowing the lady who sung him to sleep, so maybe one day it will be revealed.
Florence, Theophilus’ first sibling and younger sister was born soon after they moved into the new home. The years passed peacefully, Theophilus learning from his father only bits and pieces of Britain, most of their days passed with lessons on spell theory instead of wizarding politics. Just like Cornelius, the young boy did learn about how pureblood needed to behave, but more so, he learned his manners, not the harsh lessons of what was demanded of him like Cornelius grew with.
Years at their Russian home were spent in peace and comfort. After Florance’s birth in 2014, came Marilyn and Majorie in 2019, then little baby at the beginning of 2024. The kids started going to school when they got to the age of 4. Cornelius and Theophilus both seemed excited for the younger to get to the magical studies available to eleven year olds. So many nights leading to that day were spent with the boy talking both his father’s and mother’s ear off about all the possibilities opening up to him soon.
He never did start his magical training at Koldovstoretz, as before his birthday his life changed forever. His father soon was imprisoned at the same prison as his brother, only not for murder like the others. His father was charged with 4 cases of use of dark magic to cause harm, 2 cases of distribution of dark artifacts to cause harm; and a sentence of 40 years. That day is still a fog to Theophilus, as his brain couldn’t make sense of the fact the man who would make pancakes in the shape of animals, even if they weren’t the best, was the man that was pulled out of their home that day.
Again, the family moved, back into the manor they left over a decade before, this time more children than adults making the journey. At the end of 2024, they made it to the manor, Agatha welcomed them back happily, almost a little smug at the return of her family. The time between their return and Theophilus' first year at Hogwarts was spent with hours of the eldest child’s time in the sitting room he once rested in as a babe.
His grandmother taught the boy many things, mostly her version of the wizarding world he was moving into. Agatha had had a decade to make herself look good in the pureblood eyes that looked upon her, through the use of her organizations; most notably, the Witches for a Better Britain. The pureblood ladies in the group led fundraisers, held galas, and started charities; Agatha the leading lady for them all. Theophilus learned alot about them and the many more pureblood families in the days leading up to his first year.
On September first of 2025, the young Castellano stepped on the Hogwarts express, and finally took over writing his story.
FIOM:
ReducioTheophilus’s first instance of magic led him and his sister to get into trouble. The toddlers, 3 ½ and 2 respectively, were delighted when the cookie jar holding their favorite cookies suddenly lifted off the table and came to sit beside them on the ground. While their mother was quick in putting new precautions to their cookie stash, Cornelius was happy to see that his heir was already showing great magical ability. He was less excited when his daughter showed hers with a similar trick a couple of months later.
