FAQ — Questions
Hello @Ruth Warren,

I recommend the RPG Partner Requests [LINK] so you can find people to write with and plots to join. As for your question, you can post in classrooms of 1st year subjects interacting with the professor or starting a private thread with someone else. Since you haven't unlocked homework yet, you should not claim any potions or successfully cast any spells yet (you must have them in your encyclopedia trunk which shows you own the spell/potion), but professors don't mind if you write out your student in a lecture; just avoid god-modding.

Also, you could unlock homework quickly by posting 20 posts in the Leaky Cauldron [LINK]. You've been here since June, so you've already accomplished the first criteria for unlocking homework (be registered for 10 days.) You just need the 20 posts now. I suggest Leaky Cauldron games as they go by fast or talking in your common room. I'm sure there are spots for chat there.

If you have any more questions, you can owl me! I see you don't have an encyclopedia, so I could help you get started with that and the general systems as well.

FAQ — Questions
Hi folks;
Not sure if this question has been answered before, but I have a query about the special abilities.

If one were to be granted the prodigal transfiguration student skill, would they be eligible for the animagus skill one year in advance too? Or does the prodigal transfiguration student skill only apply to transfiguration spells in the school curriculum?

The "prodigal" abilities only apply to spells taught in lessons., as it would be an unfair advantage otherwise. Animagus is its own ability, and you will have to pick it as such (in the appropriate year).

FAQ — Questions
Hi!
As I understand it, you can pick an ability each year as long as you are a human character.
If you choose to become an animagus (when you are old enough to be eligible), will you still be considered a human and allowed to accumulate more abilities?

Also on a side note, is there a list of all the spells that become available each year, arranged by subject? If there is one a link to it would really help my consider whether or not to go for a prodigal student ability.

Thanks!

I'm not sure about the animagus question, but for the spells arranged by year... Each class has a syllabus in the forum (you access each class by clicking on the 'classroom' subforum via the Hogwarts crest). Although some are unfinished, I think all the professors have posted a syllabus there. For example, here is the Charms syllabus.

If anyone else can answer the animagus question, feel free to go ahead! Hope this helps :)

Yes, you need to be a human to be an animagus. And yes, you can. You are still a full human - it doesn't change your race or blood status or anything.

The prerequisite is: 5th year or later; must be full human; cannot also gain the Occlumency Ability.

As long as Animagus is your 5th,6th or 7th ability, you can pick it. You cannot have Occlumency as well as Animagus, though. Right now, that's the only restriction in abilities. Other than that, you can have any abilities that are suitable for full humans.

This is my former staff account.

Quick question — I noticed that most of the reference information seems to be in various parts of the encyclopedia and is predominately staff made. Is there a section somewhere on the site for user generated guides/etc? I just ask because on prior sites I’ve been on I’ve seen users making their own guides in areas of expertise that could be useful for others for character building/certain personality types/writing tips/etc.

Also, because I was going to put together some notes for myself for British English and would be happy to share it publicly for britpicking in writing. I’ve spent a bit of time in England so I thought it might be helpful for Americans/etc playing English characters!
