FAQ — Questions
Hiya, Great question. If I remember correctly once you've registered for index and have an encyclopedia page with the relevant information, you should graduate into the next year in July/August time. More senior members feel free to correct me if i;ve missed anythingAzrael Holloway wrote: 15 Jan 2026, 22:06 Hello! I just have a small question, I heard about the graduation process but I'm still not really sure about how it works? Do I have to do something specific to graduate into the second year or maybe I just haven't been on the site for long enough? Even though I've been on this site since October of last year, I actually would like for Azrael to go into his second year, but I'm not sure about what to do exactly?
FAQ — Questions
@Emiline Hunter is completely correct! We run on real-time, which means graduation from year to year occurs on or around 1 July of each year. The actual time can vary depending on timezones, since graduation is facilitated by administrators, and we have to do it manually, which can take a bit of time. Since your encyclopedia page was posted in October 2025, you just haven't been on the site for long enough. Stay active, and you'll be moved to second year in July!Azrael Holloway wrote: 15 Jan 2026, 22:06 Hello! Additionally, on the off chance that you did get removed from Index (which you did not), we also have an Advancement Programme that can bump you up a year.

FAQ — Questions
Quick Question, If my character, Julia, has a major change in her life (ex. Someone dying, family rift) do I need to re-index myself if personality changes happen, like Julia going from friendly to very reserved, or something else.
FAQ — Questions
If it changes her backstory, meaning things happening before she arrived at Hogwarts (like name changes etc); then I believe yes, but for personality changes I think it's merely up to you as the writer without the staff having to interfere since it doesn't affect anything related to the official index, though correct me if I'm wrong.Julia Evans wrote: 16 Jan 2026, 03:38 Quick Question, If my character, Julia, has a major change in her life (ex. FAQ — Questions
I have a question I can not find an answer written anywhere.
When I see a thread, I see the name of the thread, two numbers and the person who posted there last. I have searched and searched for what the two numbers mean, but have come up empty. I suppose one of them is how many replies the thread has, but what is the other?
