Hm. Miles can mean "soldier" and thus a good name for a leader. "Myles" is a clear variant. The old name Milo seems to be at least culturally related and somewhat influential on the English version and has come to give the name Miles its meaning of mild and pleasant. Certainly a name that could apply to someone who enjoys the kinder side of nature!
